Salt block that corn tortillas were served on
    Dina K.

Very unimpressed. Only positive was the chips and salsa. Also ordered the street corn and it was very watery. Food was flavorless, lukewarm warm. The pork shoulder for 2 had absolutely no flavor, didn't even taste the pineapple. The tortillas were served on a salt block? That was reused? We didn't even receive a second plate which was ordered for 2. The skirt steak tacos, meat was thickly sliced and the piece I tried was full of gristle The white beans were very dry, not hot and flavorless as well. Service was terrible, our server was slow and unattentive. Placed our drink order first and we didn't even receive our drinks until after our chips and salsa and the table side guacamole. Had to ask for him to take our dinner order. The birthday dessert, pumpkin bread pudding was not a favorite of anyone at our table. Overall, would never recommend to anyone. Sunday evening, 5:30pm reservation.

    Table side guacamole! Amazing!!

Went to The Mission for a late lunch with friends and it didn't disappoint. The interior design is gorgeous, and the menu had so many amazing options. We kept in light with table side guacamole tacos and Rose and margaritas. The service was top notch and I will definitely be back!

Happy hour- bottle of wine, chips, salsa and guacamole for $20

I've been a couple of times - once for lunch and once for happy hour and both times the service was top notch. The food was very tasty. There are several vegetarian options, but I wish they had some fully vegan meals. The restaurant is beautiful inside. The interior design was very well done. Happy hour is amazing - $20 for a bottle of wine, chips, salsa and guacamole.

We came here to celebrate Mother's Day and wanted to try out the newly opened Latin American Mission within the Epicenter. This took the place of an Asian Fusion restaurant named Belly. I've been to the Mission in old town Scottsdale and always found it to be delicious and such a unique vibe! This location also had beautiful candelabras and a Himalayan salt brick wall. We made reservations for lunch. Our server was really nice, but we had the hardest time hearing him and felt like his energy was a little low. We started off with the famous tableside guacamole. We got all the addins, absolutely satiating! The lady preparing was a great conversationalist, very engaging the whole time while multitasking and creating a beautiful bowl of tasty guacamole. Next we got the crispy rock shrimp and pollo a la brasa Mission tacos. Both very delicious. Btw, they have the most impressive kids menu with pictures to color on the back. My kiddo really enjoyed his meal and particularly enjoyed the off the cob corn. Well we were absolutely stuffed from lunch and went next door for a tasty Salt and Straw. Will definitely be back and bring out of town guests with us!

As always, the Mission delivers! Walked in on a friday night (found a reservation online!!) and it was so lively! The food was good, the staff were great, the vibe was perfect. This time we had a few different items and enjoyed it! I stuck with the chicken for the entree as it's just so good The shrimp app and the gordita app as well as the green chile beans are now our favs! Def make reservations before you go!

First impressions matter, and The Mission in Gilbert started us off right. We called while stuck in traffic and Julia answered. She was kind, calm, and genuinely understanding. She gave us about a 15 minute grace period on our reservation and still made sure we were seated at a great table when we arrived. That kind of hospitality sets the tone. My husband and I have been to the Scottsdale location, so we were excited to see this concept in Gilbert. It is a smaller space, cute. Joshua was our server and he was excellent. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. His recommendations were spot on and he made the whole experience feel enjoyable. Definitely one of those servers you hope to get again. We started with the tableside Mission guacamole. Jace prepared it and followed our request for extra spice perfectly. He was engaging, asked about our night, and added a fun, personal touch to the table. When we found out he is only 16, so sweet to see young hardworking people. We had seen some mixed reviews before coming, but as a former restaurant owner, I think it is important to give new locations time to find their rhythm. Our experience was smooth, well-paced, and genuinely enjoyable. Joshua recommended the Arroz Chaufa with Peruvian duck fried rice, and it absolutely delivered. Great depth of flavor, balanced, and a generous portion so we took some home. We also ordered the Duck Carnitas Empanada with orange habanero glaze and queso Oaxaca. It was rich and flavorful, but we were already starting to get full since we like to order a variety and share. Like I said, we took some home. Lol. For drinks, I had the Mission Margarita and my husband had the Primarita. Both were well balanced. The agave and tequila selection here is worth noting. We tried the Arette Gran Clase from the extra añejo list, and it was smooth, clean, and perfect for sipping. For our main, we shared the 18 oz bone-in ribeye. Presentation was beautiful. It comes with handmade corn tortillas, chimichurri, sherry glaze, and roasted garlic crema. The chimichurri stood out the most for me, fresh and bright, and everything paired really well without competing. We still ended up ordering dessert and took it home for the kids. The espresso churros with cinnamon, brown sugar, and Ibarra chocolate milkshake were sweet and satisfying. The milkshake is thick, rich, and definitely something to share. The churros are sweet, if you are into the sweet flavors. Overall, this place is fun and energetic. It does get loud, but that is part of the vibe, and we liked it. If you are expecting quiet, this is not that kind of spot. If you want a lively atmosphere, solid food, and great service, it is absolutely worth trying. We will definitely be back.

First time in this relatively new spot off Ray Rd. Worthy addition to the neighborhood. VERY crowded for a Thursday night ... a good sign. Don't go without a reservation at this point!! I'm impressed by how well the restaurant seems to be running so early in its life. Well organized front desk, very accommodating young ladies who found a great table for me and my service dog. And then managed the table nearest us to make sure my service companion was not bothered. Menu has some interesting items on it. All on one page, refreshingly simple, but complete. We tried the Mission Guacamole and the Duck Empanadas. The former was great, made tableside by an engaging young man. Would recommend to go "hot" as we did medium and it could have used the extra heat, even though it was REALLY GOOD. We also tried the Duck Empanadas. I found them just "ok", rather bland and 2 of the three on the plate were over fried. Would not recommend. Craft cocktails a strength. We tried the Mission Sour and the Saturday Morning Cartoons. Both were excellent. For entrees, we went with the Linz Reserve Filet and the Tecate Skirtsteak. Very reasonable portion sizes, not too much food. Cook on the steaks was perfectly what we requested. Server was attentive, but not bothersome. Staff kept our water glasses filled. Took a bit of time to get our initial cocktails. I had view of bartenders and they seemed stressed and undermanned. For dessert, we tried the pumpkin bread pudding. Also, pretty nice. All in $250 pre-tax for 2, so to get the full Monty of the experience it's gonna cost you. Vibe here is lively, and it really has a high-end mission feel to it. Colorful ties, lower lighting. In section of restaurant I was in there were several larger parties of 6+ patrons. Everybody having a great time. It's a bit noisy, so don't expect a quiet, fine dining experience ... but I don't think this is what they are going for Recommend you give The Mission a try

I've been really enjoying frequenting The Mission in Gilbert. Staff are personable and friendly. They aim for attention to detail and it shows in the way food and service is displayed. The table guacamole is delicious. I truly love this shared table dish. I also always get the steak skirt tacos. $25 for three- it's definitely on the expensive side but the flavor is there! It's something I'll keep ordering. I've also tried another pork appetizer dish and it was quite dry. I enjoyed their corn dish and their table salsa and chips. I'll keep coming back! Highly recommend

New Date Night destination unlocked! Great place with beautiful ambience. Beautiful chandeliers and decor through the restaurant. Has a charming Latin artsy feel. Great customer service from a knowledgeable staff and curated menu by a passionate chef. The food was GREAT! Everything was full of flavor and was presented well. The kitchen has a passion for plating and presentation as everything was aesthetically pleasing.

We had a fantastic night tonight for Fathers Day at the bar with Lauren Marie. She was so attentive and had some great recommendations. I went with the salmon which was amazing! Perfectly cooked med with the brown butter pineapple sauce- so glad I ordered it! Hubby had a Father's Day special . Cucumber jalapeño margaritas are so refreshing and hubs had a great martini- finished off with a chocolate fig dessert. Lauren made our night! Thanks guys!!

We love the mission!! 10/10 service, food, drinks, ambience - all of it One of the best restaurants in the valley

This place is fun! I really liked the prickly pear margs but I do not recommend the add on topper. It's Smokey and doesn't go with the pear well. I had the Mahi mahi tacos. The tortillas were fantastic but the fish was breaded and I was disappointed. The guacamole is fantastic! The skirt steak tacos were good. My husband ordered the Cubano torta which was one of the best things I have ever tasted. Highly recommend!!! We finished with the chocolate dessert and it was amazing! The place is pretty pricy. May be best for a special occasion. They really need to do something with the bathrooms. The floor is so slick and the women's bathroom's first stall wasn't flushing, water(I hope) on the floor. I almost slipped and fell. Be careful.

We enjoyed our dinner at the new Mission in Gilbert. The table side guacamole is a must, as they made it to your preferences! The elote dip was so good and paired really well with the guacamole and salsa. We shared the flank steak tacos which were very flavorful! The margaritas had great flavor but we pretty weak in terms of alcohol. The staff however was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is set up beautifully and has a really nice date night vibe!

I wrapped things up with the Macadamia Nut Piña Colada which, fittingly for being "aboard" a pirate ship, was delightfully rum-forward without being overly sweet. In between cocktails, we shared a couple of snacks that were such a welcome addition -- something you sadly don't always find at local speakeasies! My girlfriend and I split the French dip, and it was one of the better French dips I've had in a while. You could tell they were using quality meat. I only wish it had a little more of it. The fries were outstanding too. I believe they're double-fried because they had the perfect crispy exterior while staying soft and fluffy on the inside. Our server was friendly and attentive, even with how busy the restaurant was. Disappointing Anniversary Dinner - Expected More for the Price…read more My wife and I decided to celebrate our anniversary here after getting recommendations from friends who spoke highly of the place. Since we're in the Gilbert area, we loved the idea of a great steakhouse without the drive to Scottsdale. We went in with high expectations -- we're no strangers to special occasion dining, so we knew what we were hoping for. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in almost every way. The ambience and service felt more like a polished chain restaurant than the upscale dining experience the prices suggest. For a $300-$400 dinner for two, you expect a certain level of attentiveness and flow -- and we just didn't get it. After our appetizers, we noticed we never received the pretzel bread everyone raves about. When I asked our waiter, he said they had just finished baking a fresh batch. When it arrived, it was cold -- so that clearly wasn't the case. We also had to flag our waiter down to take our entrée order, which shouldn't happen at this price point. My steak was fine -- just fine. My wife's fish was the same. Nothing memorable, nothing that made us feel like the bill was justified. By the end of the meal we were both ready to leave. Our waiter did offer a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which was a nice gesture, but we were already checked out mentally and chose to go somewhere else to finish the evening on a better note. If you're in the East Valley looking for a truly special dinner, I'd honestly just make the drive to Mastro's Oceans Club or Steak 44.

Ambiance (4.5/5): It's tough to beat a rooftop. Here you'll have nice views of downtown Gilbert, including the historic Gilbert water tower (which lights up at night). It's not a huge restaurant/bar, probably 50 seats or so. A good number of tables and then 15 seats or so at the bar. We sat at the bar. There's a pretty nice mural on one end too. Service (4/5): A little slow to start out with and to close out, but overall, friendly. We found one of the last four remaining seats at the bar. If not for that, there would have been a wait. One drink and then we made our way. Overall, about average. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet for this visit but they do have a full menu. Drinks (4/5): Interesting craft cocktail list. The first one on the list is a Sotol cocktail. If you've never had Sotol, it's a Mexican spirit. Not tequila and not mezcal, but somewhat similar to mezcal and it does have a bit of a smoky flavor. The Sotol So Good has sotol, butterfly pea, coconut rum, pineapple, lime, and orgeat. It's purple so it makes an impression. It packs a punch too.
