What a wonderful experience! This was our first visit to this location and they did not disappoint. We sat outside in the covered area and felt like we were instantly transported to Mexico. The high-end decor and authentic music made the environment feel festive. I ordered the shrimp molcajete. The presentation was spectacular and the flavors were delicious. I was surprised when they comped me a delicious flan for Father's Day! I have such mixed feelings about this place. The food and drinks are fantastic! The decor and general vibe, next to paradise! The service however, has been a miss all three times we've been in. The location is large so maybe they just need to add to their team and do a little additional customer care training with everyone. We came in Saturday afternoon to a small lobby area where a gal was already waiting to be sat and when the third group walked in that lobby got even smaller. We waited for about 5 minutes for the hostess who came off cold and unbothered in leaving customers waiting as the other team members took notice of the filling lobby with no one checking in to let us know we'd be assisted soon. The hostess proceeded to tell us she'd be seating us outside, no offer of sitting inside at all and not once did she acknowledge her absence or offer any sort of greeting, not even a smile. When you're the first person the customer interacts with at business I feel it good practice to create a welcoming atmosphere that represents the space you're entering. Especially a place like this that is known for a fun, lively atmosphere. We were sat outside and our waitress was very sweet and got us taken care of with water, food, and drinks pretty quickly. It was a lot cooler than expected on the patio which was awesome, as I was worried about sitting outside when it was 104. Great job with that Mexicano! But once we got our food our waitress stopped by to check in once and we didn't really see her until the end of our meal after that. No refills on water or check-in to see if we wanted additional drinks (which I feel like happened the last time we were in as well). There's a gentleman with a tiger tattoo on the back of his neck who stops in at some people's tables to check in and have chat, he's never stopped in with us.. it all just seems like the customer isn't a priority at this restaurant. The food is delicious, the drinks are great but for the prices, I want to feel more valued. I want to have that fun experience of going out for drinks in a vibrant high-end cantina where you feel connected with the staff. I first heard about The Mexicano about two years ago from a coworker who enjoyed frequenting the Scottsdale location. I never made it over there but I have been to the Chandler location four times since they've opened and had a lovely experience every time. First was during restaurant week and it was so fun to try a variety of items for a very reasonable price. I loved the Chicharron guacamole, chicken enchiladas, and flan. The texture of the flan was clumpy but the flavor was amazing and I love that there was pineapple compote on top. I don't think I've ever had flan that way. Maitland was our server the first time and we were in such a hurry to make it to other plans and she did an amazing job ensuring we had the best experience in the shortest amount of time. I've also sat at the bar to enjoy the all day happy hour, which is such a great deal! Steven was attentive and thorough and helped facilitate when other guests were getting a little excited at the bar area. I have since tried a number of other menu items and I think the fajitas and corn cake are still my favorite! Sidenote: you can add an extra side of corn cake for $3 - highly recommend! This place basically turns into a nightclub after 7 PM on Friday and Saturday night. There are men dressed up in robot suits wandering all over the establishment dancing with the guests. There are guests dancing in the open space between booths and tables and the energy is out of this world! There were even women doing the limbo through the robots' legs lol! I died! My only suggestion for improvement would be to not serve the rice, beans, and corn cake on the sizzling plate of the fajitas because the plate is so hot that the beans, rice, and corn cake burn which is not an enjoyable flavor or texture for me. The Mexicano in Chandler wasn't too busy for a Sunday afternoon, and we were seated right away on the outdoor patio. Despite the Arizona heat, they had mist sprays outside that kept the patio feeling nice and cool. The aesthetic of the restaurant is decorated with gorgeous florals and bright colors. Everything looked "picture worthy" from the moment you enter. The service was friendly as well. We were given complimentary chips and salsa for the table to start. We ordered "THE BEST F#*%ING BIRRIA ENCHILADAS" ($23) to share, along with a frozen margarita from the happy hour menu ($5) and a couple of Mexican candy shots. Everything was delicious overall, but my only critique is that the enchiladas could have been packed with a bit more meat. The frozen margarita tasted pretty strong, but I'm not complaining lol. This is my second review on this restaurant. Once again, another five star experience! The restaurant was pretty busy and there were quite a few people waiting outside. We had a reservation and were seated within about five minutes. The main reason for writing this review was due to the fantastic service that we received from Heidi. She was super sweet, very efficient and gave a great suggestions. We decided to go with all of her suggestions. I wasn't super hungry so I decided to have a margarita for dinner! Heidi recommended the Mangonada. It was very good with a fresh mango taste. I loved the Tajin on the rim. To start Heidi recommended their house made traditional guacamole. Which is made fresh to order. I love the addition of the pomegranate seeds.They give it a bright refreshing flavor. Definitely a must try. For an entrée, my husband and I shared the ENCHILADA DIVORCIADA! It was fantastic! It came with three different enchiladas. The best f#*%ing birria,(yes that's what it's called on the menu),chicken tinga, mexican cheese blend accompanied by crema fresca, cilantro, pico de gallo, queso fresco. Been checking out the Mexicano for a couple of months now and finally decided to stop in. It was happy hour time, so I took advantage of their $2.50 tacos. I am not a big margaritas fan, so I skipped their drinks and just went with water. I got three tacos and added a side of their beans. I got a chicken tinga, carne asada, and potato taco. Omg! All three were nothing short of amazing. Every bite, delicious, authentic, and super flavorful. I love that the potato taco came crispy and was topped with this amazing crema and cojita cheese crumbles!! #winning The service was also amazing and attentive as well with Steve checking on me regularly and keeping my water full. Minus one star for the beans that clearly came straight out of a can. No seasoning was added AT ALL. What saved it was their amazing salsa that came with the chips and salsa that they brought out before the meal. This place is funn! We got a Classico & frozen Mangonada margarita to start & they give you chips and salsa once you are seated. We ordered the Queso Birria Tacos and the Birria Vampiro style tacos and split them. They both had great flavors and came with rice and beans and a corn tamale cake. As we were finishing up the staff started handing out balloons to everyone in the restaurant and then this man came out dressed in a transformer costume on stilts and danced and made balloon animals for everyone. It was funny and interactive, they said on Friday and Saturday nights that's the entertainment. All of the staff is incredibly friendly as are the greeters and people who seat you. So happy the Mexicano is in Chandler now! One of my favorite Mexican restaurants to go to. My first time here at this location and it did not disappoint! Location wise, it's perfect. Right beside the 101 and the mall. Very easy to get to. The inside is a vibe! From the design, decorations, all the way to the music, just sets the tone for an awesome visit. Stopped in for HH recently. Great menu and prices! Definitely recommend their margaritas. Taste so good and are a great size too! Food wise, the nachos are to die for. Holy cow! The chilly Relleno was good but wasn't great. The enchiladas were decent too. The beans and rice are not my favorite and I feel like they both lack seasoning. The sweet corn tamale was overcooked and dry. Beans lacked flavor and were dry. Don't worry--it's also very overpriced. Oh! And! Service was not good. Three rapid fire are you ready to order within five minutes of being seated after the yes it's our first time here server intro question. No refills on water or drinks--amplified the dry theme. One star for the music and lighted flower decor. One star for a passing staff member who asked to see if my mom needed help getting out of the booth. We started with the Quesa Birria egg rolls, pork empanadas, and guacamole, and everything was incredible. We were already full from the appetizers before our main meal even came. I went to this restaurant earlier this week on a Tuesday, and I'm so glad my friend made a reservation ahead of time. There wasn't any note in reviews that I saw saying a reservation was needed, but the place was absolutely packed. I've seen a few reviews mention that the music is too loud, and while the music was definitely present, I didn't find it overwhelming at all. We could easily hear each other talk, and honestly, the music was great. It really transported you to Mexico: lively, upbeat, and full of energy! The décor is stunning, with vibrant colors and beautiful details everywhere. We came planning to have a full meal but ended up grabbing a beer and a few appetizers, plus dessert (of course). While there were a couple of small things that could technically make this a four-star experience, I truly think this place deserves five stars. From the food and service to the music and overall ambiance, the experience was fantastic. You almost feel out of place when you walk back outside since it's located in a mall plaza, it's such an immersive environment inside. The Tostilocos experience was a lot of fun (on their appetizers menu). Even though they weren't my favorite Tostilocos I've ever had, it was still really cool that they offer it. The churros were average but tasty; however, the sauces served with them were cold, which was a bit disappointing since they would've been much better warm. That said, the absolute star of the night was the green chile empanadas. I'm genuinely sad there were only three because they were to die for!! I could've easily eaten twelve. I came here with some family for a nice lunch. The building is so cute inside, I loved all the decor. Me and my family were greeted and seated pretty quickly. The menu is a decent size with lots of stuff to choose from. They even have different guacamole options! There is also a fair amount of drinks to choose from. I personally ordered a margarita flight. The margaritas were pretty good. I don't remember all the flavors but I'm sure I had at least a mango, original, and strawberry. The drinks were a little bit on the stronger tasting side but I enjoyed them. For food, I ordered myself some enchiladas. They came with red and green sauce so I got to try both. The green sauce was a bit tastier to me but both were very enjoyable. My enchilada plate also came with sides which were very good too. However, it was a lot of food and I could not finish it. I dined on their back patio for a late solo working lunch and the restaurant is BEAUTIFUL. When I say beautiful I mean above and beyond top tier beautiful! The inside was sleek, dim and contemporary. The outdoor bar and patio was huge and open and had stunning wall terraces w flowers on them everywhere. It had a definite garden vibe. The bar menu for happy hour was available and the amount of fabulous food for the price was amazing. I got chicken nachos for $9 w plenty left to take home to go too. Their margaritas were a good size and $5. I also highly recommend the distilled spring water-it was so good. My server was such a gentleman and so helpful w the menu items and on top of things frequently checking in on me. I have heard a lot of hype about this place so we decided to take some out of town guests for dinner. The inside is decorated so fun and lively. Lots of bright and interesting things to look at. We went for dinner at 4 PM and were seated right away. No need for a reservation at that time. We started with the Queso Fundido. I did not care for this. To me it tasted very artificial. The salsa, however, was quite tasty. It had the perfect combination of spice and heat. The chips they paired it with were quite disappointing. Not enough flavor or crunch. I had the "best f***ing burrito". It was a good size, but very bland which was disappointing. I was able to douse it with salsa which made it better. The rest of the table had the carne asada burrito, enchiladas, tacos and the Caesar salad with chicken. The overall consensus was that the dishes needed more flavor. Margaritas were good, but the flan was underwhelming and half the churros were left behind due to underwhelming taste. Warning: At 5 PM the music gets turned up to a ridiculous & obnoxious level. We just went here for mother's day. There was a line to get in (i assume they gave everyone an 11am reservation time and that's when they open). They have an outdoor area with misters but we were glad to sit inside- way too hot outside. The service was friendly, the food was good- good portion sizes. The frozen margaritas were delicious and definitely not "weak". The atmosphere was like any regular restaurant- not too loud or especially "party" like. They gave moms free plastic margarita cups to take home. Had a nice time! One remark: they use lard in their refried beans and in their flour tortillas, so non-pork eaters beware! It comes with three dipping sauces including a birria, which was tangy and just delicious. Wife had the Tour of Mexicano, which comes with a chicken enchilada, a cheese chili relleno, fried quesadilla, and a beef taco. Again, presentation was beautiful although she was "meh" on the flavors. She did like the relleno but found the other items just "ok". Didn't care for the rice and beans. I was really intrigued by the sweet corn cake mentioned several places on the menu so asked for a taste; got a side ($3) and I loved this! Reminds me of the dish they serve at a place in Tucson. I could make a meal of just this! We ordered the flan for dessert, which is interesting because it has roasted pineapple on top of it. It was good. Got to try the Polvorones Skillet, which is a reddish sugar cookie with fried ice cream on top. This was the bomb! Great service; lots of attention from the servers throughout our meal. Chuyito at The Mexicano Chandler is literally the best. From the second we sat down he was super friendly, helpful, and just had the best energy. You can tell he actually enjoys what he does -- he's personable, fun, and makes you feel like you're hanging out with a friend instead of just being served. He gave great recommendations and was on top of everything without being overbearing. The birria tacos were SO good -- crispy, flavorful, perfect. And the Mexican Candy shot?? Trust him and just order it. Overall just amazing vibes, amazing service, and he made the whole experience that much better. 10/10 ask for Chuyito if you go. The bartender was busy making drinks, which I completely understand, but the server who initially took our order never came back to check on us. Our nachos came out with the white cheese not even melted, and we spent the entire time without silverware or napkins. Our drinks were empty for quite a while, and no one checked in. At one point, the bartender/server admitted she had been in the back cleaning and said she would get someone to remove the nachos but no one ever came back. We had to leave so we can eat dinner somewhere else I get in your cut, you wanna go home and honestly we were forgotten about. If your cut and don't want us give us up. Parking is available, although the lot was pretty full when I arrived for my reservation on Friday evening at 5pm. Definitely recommend reservations. Our server was wonderful, very attentive, fun and friendly, especially with such a large group! I immediately ordered the build your own margarita in the souvenir piñata cup, this was such a fun experience. There were lots of sour, fruity candies to top off your drink. I waited for a while before someone seated me. The decor is Mexican chic with all the neon. Complimentary chips and salsa. They have a Michelin star taco made with prime rib eye. As a big fan of Chef Joey's other restaurants (Hash Kitchen, The Italiano, The Sicilian Butcher), I was super excited to check out the Chandler location of The Mexicano -- and let me just say, it did not disappoint! My boyfriend and I grabbed seats at the outdoor bar specifically for their all-day happy hour, which was already a win in my book. As someone who works later hours, I rarely get to enjoy traditional happy hour deals, so I really appreciated this setup. The vibes are immaculate -- vibrant, energetic, and culture-rich! A live DJ effortlessly bounced between club hits and mariachi/folk music to complement traditional dance performances. I was so happy to see Afro Latina performers represented -- we love cultural inclusivity and representation! There were also robot dancers, and yes... light-up tubes were passed out so we could get in on the fun. Such a great experience all around. I love a good nacho and these did not disappoint honey! 10/10. * Shrimp Ceviche - I have an avocado allergy so I didn't try it, but my boyfriend absolutely demolished the plate so I think that speaks for itself. * Pastor Chicken Wings - I wasn't sure what to expect but they were saucy, fall-off-the-bone tender, and so flavorful! * Strawberry Tres Leches Cake - Light, moist, and perfectly sweet. Simple but beautiful. I highly recommend making a reservation if you are looking to sit in the dining room here or definitely be prepared for a wait. Since this location is still new, it has a lot of novelty right now and was packed even for us, but due to there being available seats at the bar, we had no issues. Our server was great and attentive, and I definitely made sure to reflect that appreciation in her tip! Chef Joey, keep absolutely rocking the culinary scene and I'll keep showing up every time! This spot was ok, which to be honest I had a feeling how the food would be. The presentation is beautiful when it comes to the restaurant inside and their food. The vibe here was fun and it was pretty cool to see some people dressed as transformer looking things dancing to the music the DJ was playing. The Paloma I ordered was great and the chips and salsa. But the food here is just not that great. I ordered the taste of mexico , or Mexico sampler ... the fried taco was just too thick for me, I was expecting your typical crunchy fried corn tortilla taco. The chile relleno was not hot enough that the cheese was like a tofu texture. The enchilada would have been a lot better if melted cheese was added inside ... my bf ordered the chile relleno burrito with asada ... it looked great but he was not a fan of how crispy the tortilla was. Simone and Manny were AWESOME!!! Warm and friendly faces greeted us and Simone sat us right away during the dinner rush, granted we did have a reservation so i highly recommend booking on ope table ahead of time. Manny was very attentive to us and was surprised how fast the food came out. The tostilocos cart was such a fun experience. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to taste the menu and every single dish was warm and flavorful. The dancing robots were an excellent surprise as they came dancing by the tables. We really had so much fun. Will be back to try the rest of the menu! read more

I wish I could leave three and a half stars because I'm torn. I'd been to the PV location for lunch and enjoyed the low-key vibe. This time I brought the family on a Saturday night: loud music playing so we couldn't really hear each other and at one point two giant robots came out to dance-lol. That's not our family's vibe but I can definitely see the draw for a lot of people and the restaurant does a great job in setting a festive scene. Service was also glacially slow. We waited a long time for everything. I definitely recommend making a reservation if you want to come here - we heard it was a two hour wait without one. We tried a lot of different dishes: birria bao buns, a variety of tacos, and the one foot quesadilla. While we all enjoyed our food for the most part, prices are high and portions are small for the price point. I ordered one chicken tinga taco ($8) and it was compact. We also indulged in the churro cart for dessert. It comes with six churros and three dipping sauces: chocolate, tres leches and caramel. Very cute presentation and the churros tasted good but they would have been much better if they'd been warm. But overall we were satisfied with our dishes. If you want a party atmosphere come at night or on the weekends. I believe it's calmer at lunchtime, or I think I read the patio is more of a respite. They have misters outside to cool you down. read more

The Mexicano is amazing. I am happy they have a location at the east end of the valley. I was a regular at their PV location. The restaurant and bar are perfectly laid out and decorated. The decor is bright and vibrant. They have a great menu and their Happy Hour menu doesn't disappoint. We decided to sit at the bar. Our two bartenders were awesome and very attentive. The birria tacos are amazing with your delicious salsa. The happy hour margaritas are flavorful and refreshing. My daughter enjoyed the fish tacos are tremendous. One thing I truly miss is their guacamole with pomegranate seeds, they took it off their menu awhile ago. I think it needs to be brought back. read more

Very cute restaurant! When we walked in, there was a big crowd of different groups of people waiting to be seated or get their name on the waitlist and the hostess seemed very flustered. Once we got her attention and got on the list, we only had to wait a few minutes but there were tons of open tables so that was a little weird. The service was a little slow once we were seated as well but both the hostess and waitress were very nice. The food was pretty good. I really liked the tacos. I didn't care for the rice or the salsa that came with the chips. The prices were reasonable. I think if you want to go for the fun drinks, it's worth it. We didn't try any this time since we went for lunch during the week but the drink menu looked fun and like I said, the inside is very cute! read more
