My daughter, granddaughter and I stopped in for dinner and we're immediately told there was no availability, despite several empty tables. Both hostess at the front didn't offer a wait list. Instead, we were offered a table in the back outside while everyone else was seated inside. As a Black family, the experience left us feeling unwelcome. I can't say why we were treated this way, but the interaction was extremely disappointing, we chose to dine elsewhere. Update: After my original review, the restaurant reached out to apologize for our experience. We decided to give them another chance, and I'm glad we did. Our return visit was completely different. The service was excellent, and we had the pleasure of meeting the Ashley Cook, General Manager and the owner. They made us feel genuinely welcome. The Brickyard Downtown still features the original exposed brick walls, concrete floors, and tin tile ceilings that date back over a century. Talk about sitting in history. This place has tasty food and amazing sips. My friend and I recently popped in here for Ladies Night. We only had sips this time around as our other friend wanted to meet up for cocktails too but I couldn't change our reservations so we had to leave shortly after. I had their Hera (Bayab Rose | Elicser | Grapefruit | Lime | Orgeat | Egg White | Rose Water), $17: It was a delightfully balanced drink with a perfect egg white froth on top. Great sips. Cool interior, small and narrow, brick walls and low lighting give very clubby vibe. Cocktail list is a blast. Drinks named after Greek Gods. Very inventive. Food was biggest disappointment. Hamachi crudo rather tasteless. Best dish of evening were the pork belly skewers! Lamb Two ways not great. Two lamb loin chops + lamb loin. Some zucchini coins and shishito peppers in kinda a low heat "mole type" sauce. Not a great pairing with lamb imho. Otherwise lamb chops not seasoned and undercooked (rare, not medium rare). Strawberries and cream dessert not bad, kinda underwhelming on flavor. Service was just average. We stopped in for happy hour on a Friday afternoon. This place has a great vibe, nice bar area with lots of different liquors. The staff were attentive and friendly. My wife ordered a Pimm's Cup and I got a beer. The Pimm's Cup was delicious and well made, and of course the beer was cold. We decided to try the Banh Mi Tacos. The order came with three tacos that were absolutely delicious! The downside was the portion size was small and I could eat a whole plate full. They are definitely worth getting, especially during happy hour. read more

This review is long overdue. After drinks and bites at The Living Room on Saturday, May 6, 2017, Rachel took Allen, David and me to THE BRICKYARD DOWNTOWN for more alcoholic beverages. Nestled in historic downtown Chandler, in the narrow sliver of Boston Street, the speak-easy themed cocktail bar and restaurant is located inside the former home of the Chandler Arizonan, the city's original hometown newspaper since 1912. With exposed brick walls and rich wood finishes, the historic site provides an upscale, contemporary urban and industrial-chic setting. After easily finding parking in walking distance from the entrance, we arrived shortly before midnight of the 7th. They were closing soon, but we had enough time to order a round of craftly-made cocktails and beers to down quickly. It helps when your friend knows the bartender. Enter smiley face emoji here. THE BRICKYARD DOWNTOWN is credited for the first place that I ever tried a CLOVER CLUB, a pink, frothy cocktail with fruity, citrusy, velvety qualities. I was instantly tickled pink, literally, by the nostalgic feel of the elegant concoction, topped with artfully designed egg white foam and served in a vintage-style champagne glass. What a beauty of a drink with a touch of class and sophistication! Almost made me want to throw on a flapper dress and dance the Charleston...until I realized the need to balance from the powerful punch in the serious drink. This small downtown Chandler has a great atmosphere with lots of exposed brick. There is a long bar, regular tables and high tops. We arrived as most of the breakfast/brunch customers were leaving. Our server was nice and brought us water right away. The menu here is very Asian inspired. My son loves okonomiyaki, so he ordered the Japanese Breakfast and a Golden Fleece, a yuzu cocktail. He said his breakfast was excellent. I ordered the Chinese Chilaquiles. It was definitely different from Mexican Chilaquiles, but it was delicious. The mole chicken skewers were tender with great flavor, but spicier than expected. The menu doesn't note spice levels, and I'm sensitive to heat, so that was a surprise. I had a wonderful experience at The Brickyard Downtown in Chandler. What stood out most was the balance between attentive service and giving guests the space to simply enjoy their food, conversation, and mood. The staff wasn't overbearing or constantly interrupting, but they were there exactly when you needed them. It felt as though they genuinely mirrored each customer and gave them the kind of experience they were looking for. The food was excellent, and the appetizers were especially impressive--elevated, thoughtfully developed, and beautifully executed. The chef deserves recognition for the creativity and care that clearly went into the menu. A special shoutout to Angela, Mychale, and Tiara, who were busy but still seemed to have a sharp eye on everything happening around them. Sitting at the bar was a delight because of the way the three of them worked together. They were professional, attentive, and, most importantly, seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs and the people they worked alongside. There was no unnecessary huddling, side conversations, or unprofessional behavior. They remained engaged with the guests while still enjoying each other's company. One moment really stood out to me. Someone accidentally dropped a glass, and another team member immediately checked to make sure she was okay--not just physically but making sure that smile was still there. That small moment said a lot about the kind of people working there. Truly classy service, great food, and a team that knows how to make people feel comfortable without hovering. Seating is limited, arrived at 4pm with plenty of open seats, host said we needed to sit at the bar, but our first choice, most of the same tables were open when we left. I am literally never disappointed with the food here, nor am I disappointed with the service or the drinks. Music is always on pointe and I would never change the look or ambiance of the place either. My last trip here though I had to ask about why the menu had stopped changing as often since we were one of two parties there in the middle of happy hour and there was a large framed picture of a bartender with a bunch of signed notes on the bottom of it beside me at the bar. It turns out that one of the oldest curators and bartenders of the bar and restaurant had passed from a drunk driving incident and I had not known at all! Gosh I was so disappointed in myself that I had ever complained about not having a new menu to try after that...but at the same time it was amazing to hear so many great anecdotes and to learn so much more about him and the history of the bar itself while dining this time. I had a lot of fun times at this bar - including remembering the first time I met that bartender and sharing that memory with the staff that told me their story. They also shared that they would be coming out with a new menu very soon and some of the new items and ideas that would be rolling out so I am also very excited to go back! New food menu tomorrow too?! What?! I was almost tempted to back today to get more of their amazing dishes from the main menu!! Thank you Cat for the amazing hospitality! We were actually looking for grilled oysters but couldn't seem to find any so we opted to head into the quaint Brickyard and I'm glad that we did. It's a small place but nice and clean with a super friendly staff. The menu is more of a Tapas style menu but all of the food here in super good. Our meat was wrapped in a banana leaf for 24 hours prior to eating it was super moist with tons of pork flavor my mouth is still watering while I'm writing this review. The meal was perfect for two people and we just loved our waiter just really polite and friendly a quality that alot of servers now a days lack. This is a really good spot to go to when you are out with friends and coworkers. It has a social and rustic downtown bar ambiance. There is limited seating outside on the patio with heaters. Hubs and I did not have a reservation but we were seated within 20 minutes on a Friday night. Our waiter was great and very knowledgeable when it came to the drinks menu. Be mindful that you may have to wait a bit for your food to arrive when it's on a busy night. The food was great overall. We ordered several appetizers but we did have some misses. Loaded Potatoes - this was one of my favorites. I'm usually not a big potato fan but the flavors just worked. This does leave you feeling kind of heavy so definitely order this to share. Pork belly skewers - great flavors, slightly too salty for us but this was also a favorite of mine. Ahi Tuna Tartare - good and simple. Very light flavors. My husband liked this one. Wagyu Tataki - this was a miss for both my husband and I just because we thought the meat was going to be warm/cooked. Overall the style concept is cool but the consistency and flavors didn't work for me. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare so definitely carpool with your party if you can. Loved this bar downtown Chandler. The drinks were amazing and I love that they change the theme of drinks every so often, right up my alley! Only thing is the drink prices are $18+ but add a theme to something and you're able to I guess. I do think it's pretty steep price for the cocktails but after 2 I felt pretty good so at least they were strong enough. Pork belly skewers and pork tacos were great, loaded potatoes were good but heavy and rich if that's what you're going for. Nice dark aesthetic inside, great atmosphere, and service. read more

This place was fun! They change up their drink theme periodically, and this time it was Greek mythology! The space is smaller, mostly indoor seating/bar seating, but some outside too. Our group was outside and there were heaters to keep us warm! Travis was our waiter and took good care of our large group! I didn't order food, but everyone else who did said it was good! The drink I ordered was called Hades 18, which included a fun presentation. It was stronger than I imagined it would be, but still good. I would probably order something different next time. This place has been our go to spot for a while now. They have an amazing drink/cocktail selection and the food options are great as well. Or at least they were... was very devastated to discover on our last visit a few weeks ago that they have significantly changed their menu. All the dishes used to be tapas style, but now there's only about 4 options for that and the rest are extremely expensive entrees. Don't get me wrong, the food was still good, as well as the service and drinks. But I thought the whole vibe of this place was around the tapas style menu. Regardless, it is still worth checking out at least once if you havnt been here. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly and they are located in a great part of downtown Chandler. We'll probably try it out again in a few months in hopes they changed the menu again, hopefully similar to how it was before. read more

We live in Glendale and come in at least once a year. I love that their menu changes. Our food was beyond stellar, even the dishes i personally didn't like were still of good quality food. My favorites: Green curry tiger prawns. Best thing I've eaten in a while. Goat cheese gnocchi: very rich and savory. So good. Loaded potatoes. Always a solid pick. Super surprised by the feta cheesecake. First bite was kinda iffy but every bite it got better and better. It's very rich and I really appreciated that O could control the sweetest with the amount of honey I put on it. Would not order again: Dumplings- super bland Kafta- this was very flavorful and fresh but i personally didn't like the texture of the sausage. Buffalo chicken dip- my husband absolutely LOVED it. But i personally just don't like Buffalo dip. I believe James was our server for the evening and he went above and beyond to serve us, give us recommendations and to just generally be a good human. He definitely elevated the experience this trip. The restaurants ambiance hasn't chanced much over the years. Decor remains the same. Modern. Clean. Appropriate lighting. With the weather cooling down, the vibe of downtown Chandler is on the rise. So many great places so we decided to revisit The Brickyard. It was cool enough to sit at the standard tables on the patio but we opted to be inside at the bar to catch some MLB post season games. Service was prompt and great throughout the experience. The menu consist of mostly shared plates and bar items so I take that into account if considering for dinner. The price point for the shared plates are about the same as dinner items at other places, but keep in mind that these items are made-from-scratch food with a twist. Coming during Happy Hour is ideal as the Started with some cocktails (Dirty Martini was great & the bartender asked all the right questions... how dirty, vodka choice, olive count...). I went off the specialty cocktail DVD Menu (cool concept I guess I never noticed) with the Oculus Prima (Tequila drink). Unfortunately that one didn't hit so our bartender helped me switch it out and I went with a more fruiter style with Mezcal. It was spot on. For food, we order the pork belly skewers... great balance of flavor and texture was great. The order came with 3 Skewers with 3 pieces each. Picked the Coconut Shrimp... not what I expected, but it was interesting. It sat on top of this Mango Sticky Rice. It didn't have that pop of coconut I was expecting. Last item we got was the Pork Fried Rice with a Beef Skewer on the side ($25 item with the add-on... ouch). This one was decent and has the potential, but it was way to salty!! We brought home and the next day revisited and had to toss it as the saltiness was just too much (the one disappointment). Plan to return for Brunch (and to try some HH Drinks) & my next visit will consist of the Mini Bricks & Pork Bánh Mì Tacos (couple next to us had). read more

I really love the Brickyard. The staff is top notch, and the ambiance is so calm and inviting. Drinks are crafted with love and you'll never be disappointed. Guess you might call it "American tapas" (?). While they do have some larger entrees on the menu, the small plates were perfect for sharing in our party of three. We picked the Salmon Hush Puppies, Pork Belly Skewers, Pork Banh Mi Tacos, Orzo Salad, and Pork Fried Rice. Everything was delicious and my favorites were the hush puppies and orzo salad. The service for the remainder of the night was good. I ordered the Gates to Oblivion ($15) and really enjoyed this cocktail! The mango was fresh and the mezcal was well balanced. The rim on the glass was delicious too - slightly spicy, salty and sweet. I ordered the French Dip for dinner. The meat was tender and the aus jus added lots of flavor. I enjoyed the rosemary baguette, which was fresh and the rosemary flavor did not overpower it. The sandwich was well balanced. I wish it came with a side for the price of $16.
