Mixed feelings about this restaurant. Our waiter gave great service. The live music was a nice touch. The ceviche was delicious. I ordered the octopus for my entree but had to send it back because it was so tough. The waiter replaced it with the shrimp scampi which was very good. Didn't like the fact the tip defaulted to 25% and they charge 3% extra for paying by credit card. Who doesn't pay by credit card these days!!! read more

I haven't left a review for blu?? This is one of our favorite restaurants, everything we've tried is good but we have nailed down some of our favorites! We like to go when it's happy hour, which is actually on weekends until 5:00! Quite a nice addition, you can get $5 draft beer and $10 calamari and shrimp and chips and guac. (Ask to add the Caribbean salsa!!) That's what we start with and then we split the ribeye aguachiles which is like nothing else you've ever tried - it is spicy, so try some fish tacos if you don't like spice! Did I mention that they start you with a little cup of broth to sip on? I could live on it! The service and ambience are great, but they do like to fill up their two tops so you'll likely be snuggled up next to some other couples LOL read more

First, the service here was great. It started with beakers of broth, and learning what we wanted right away. Later, our server had a leaky wooden platter that almost dripped on me. She reacted quickly, avoided disaster, apologized, cleaned up the mess, gave extra napkins, and comped me on my drink. Our steaks were absolutely delicious, our pasta was al dente as we like it, and our fish was perfectly flaky and moist. Compliments to the chef, except for failing to spot the platter crack at the pass. Parking is easy and plentiful. 4 dinners, 3 drinks, an appetizer, and a free birthday flan were $280 with tax and tip. Not cheap, but worth it for us. BTW, we're seeing more AI electronic wall displays, and BLU is no exception. The loop of the infinity pool and shoreline from inside a beach cabana was more relaxing than annoying - YMMV if you are an artist. read more

We wanted to try a new restaurant and this place popped up on our radar. I made a reservation on their website. When we got there, we were seated immediately. The restaurant was not very busy on a Wednesday night, so it was nice and quiet. We ordered our appetizer and it came out quickly before we ordered our entree. We do not like sitting around wasting time, so the speed and service here was perfect for us. We got there at 7:15p and was done and out the door by 7:47p! Everything we had was delicious and flavorful. The waitress mentioned the menu was being revamped, so I am glad I was able to try the octopus tacos before they went away. We can't wait to come back here again soon! read more

Hubby and I have been here a couple times before and really enjoyed it. It's got a great atmosphere with lots of hanging plants and basket light fixtures. It seems like a very kind of organic earthy atmosphere. There's a bar to one side and outdoor seating, although it was way too hot for us to sit outside. I love that as soon as you arrive you are brought a cup of hot, spicy fish broth. It's actually quite delicious. Our server was very patient with us I was meeting up with an old friend. We would not see each other in a long time and we were just talking and talking. He kept coming back to see if we were ready to order and was very sweet telling us to take our time. Either of us was very hungry and I had early dinner reservations so neither of us wanted to eat very large portions. My friend got the shrimp cocktail and I got the Mango Blu Ceviche. Both came with crispy corn tortillas to scoop our food on to. While I have always loved everything I've eaten here, this was the first time that I got the Mango Blu Ceviche. It was good, but not my favorite. I think I just didn't care for the combination of mango with the seafood. Are very kind server had no problem letting my friend and I sit for 3 hours while we caught up. Kudos to him for being so nice about it! read more

Seated right away. Service was efficient. Very nice atmosphere. Live music playing on the patio. We were seated in the dining area but the bar seating and patio also seemed quite pleasant. Tuna appetizer was good and a very generous portion. Carne Asada tacos were delicious. The meat was very tender and flavorful. Tacos ahogados was a unique dish - rich and flavorful. I think it's slightly overpowered the shrimp. read more

I think a four star review is appropriate given the price point. Ordered pickup online. The restaurant is located in a busy shopping center with a near full parking lot on a wednesday evening. I was greeted promptly upon entering and the hostess packed up my order without delay. I had the BLU ceviche which was good. Big chunks of nicely cooked fish and seafood with fresh fruit and veggies. It did need salt. I also had the BLU Alfredo with shrimp which was a decent alfredo with five good sized shrimp. I also had a side salad and for only $6 was pleasently surprised by its size and toppings variety but it came completely without any dressing. Everything was "plated" very pretty even for a togo order. read more

First time here for an early dinner and was impressed with the service and food quality. The focus here is Mexican Seafood and they do it very well. They start you off with a spicy fish broth cup to clear your pallet and sinus.. Two of us had a carne asada shrimp burrito and another person had a burger and shrimp sandwich with fries. Ambiance here was open with an outside covered patio option. Put this one on your list. All good here. read more

My husband and I had a date night and made reservations for 8:30pm for a Friday night. Coming into the restaurant, it was crowded and there was live music playing. It's dim inside and trendy and date-night spot like. I was surprised and thrilled with being given a cup of fish broth to start the evening. It's a nice complimentary start and with the weather being cold and windy outside, it was warm and delicious. We got: Blu Ceviche: we omitted the mango due to my husband's allergy. Even then, the ceviche was fresh and full of flavor! 9.5/10 (I'm sure with the mango it would be a full 10) Ribeye Aguachile: we got the steak medium rare and it was so good. 10/10. It definitely has a kick and I kept drinking water but it was so good that I kept eating it. The President Tacos: 10/10. I loved the charred cheese. It was so good and probably the best tacos I've had in AZ. Side of fries and guacamole: fries were a bit soggy but still good. Guac was great! Tres Leches Cheesecake: who doesn't love a slice of cheesecake. Heaven. Our server, Tomas, was extremely friendly and attentive. Thank you for the extra cup of free fish broth & cheesecake! We will definitely come back! read more

In all honesty, I didn't want to be here. So this review may be a little biased as I really didn't feel like leaving my house. My wife and mother-in-law got a hankering for heading out for lunch on Saturday. Suffice to say I wasn't allowed to sit at home and be lazy. So we came here with along with my brother-in-law. We arrived at what I could guess was just after the lunch rush. So it wasn't very busy in there, which was nice. The restaurant design itself was somewhere between sheik and beach rustic. Almost looks like they were going for an upscale look but feel just short of it. Still a nice place. I am cleansing so I couldn't drink one of their crafted drinks but my mother-in-law really liked hers. It was a pineapple juice and mezcal drink. Per usual, my mother-in-law and wife ordered the oysters to start. This was the first disappointment. They didn't really care for them and it came with what was basically a BBQ sauce. We ended up having to ask for just plain horseradish on the side so they could get through them. I ordered the tuna tartar and ambar wings. The ambar wings were ok. They sauce was sticky and sweet. I was hoping for a little heat, but it didn't have anything. The tuna tartar came on a bed of guacamole that sat in a pool of what I could only guess was soy sauce or some mixture of. The tuna was fresh so that was a plus. The guacamole in the soy sauce didn't really speak to me. The guacamole kind began to melt into the sauce making a whole other sauce that just wasn't working. I had to speed through the tuna just to make sure it was done before the sauce and guacamole were to mixed together and ruined the tuna. I would have preferred the soy sauce mixture on the side. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals but no one really raved about their meals. This was a fine enough place. Maybe if I was in the mood to be out and about I would have enjoyed it more. This place is definitely worth a second shot, but for now it's just a solid three star spot. read more

All the positive reviews are so true! Tried out this establishment for the first time. Alondra was the most attentive server. Friendly and kind. Food was delicious! They give you a bit of the fish broth to drink at the beginning to get your taste buds going! For appetizers we started off with oysters and fish ceviche from the happy hour menu. Then my hubby had the steak and bites, daughter had the prime rib, and I had the lobster risotto. All so good! The oysters were huge and very fresh! A definite must-try! read more

Made reservations here for dinner with my wife after I made her suffer in the cold at the driving range for our date night... she's a trooper! I would describe this place as latin seafood? Maybe not the best description but it is on the higher end side. They had live music and most people were well dressed, including staff and guests. The pricing for the food was very reasonable. I would like to come here again and try other things. I would say that we had a really enjoyable dinner at this place and we highly recommend this location. They start you off with a free small cup of fish broth and it was super nice especially after the cold and the range. We ordered: Aquachile Ribeye - Very good! It can get a bit sour and spicy as it's pretty acidic after eating portions of it President Tacos shrimp - Very good tacos and worth trying especially if you love shrimp Blu Ceviche - I have a mango allergy so they made it with tomatoes instead of mangos and it still tasted fantastic. Side of Guac - Solid addition to our dishes French Fries - I needed some extra carbs to eat with the ribeye and ceviche! They weren't super hot and were a tiny bit soggy if I had to be critical Tres Leches Cheesecake - Very good! A little bit dense but the flavor was very good and hit the spot at the end of dinner. The service was very good from Tomas and the other servers that worked there. I didn't get their name but they were very pleasant and added to an enjoyable meal. Thank you Blu Seafood! read more

We needed to sit on the patio as we had our dog with us, and from the beginning our server was great (unfortunately I can't recall his name). When I walked in I didn't see any hosts, but our server walked by and got us seated quickly. As we had our toddler with us as well, he was very accommodating and sat us at the low table in the back so it wasn't too high for our daughter. Very thoughtful. It was our first time so our server walked us through the menu highlights and offered some recommendations. You could tell he was very knowledgeable about the menu and proud of the items they serve being of great quality. Throughout our dinner he was very personable and asked questions to ensure we were having a great time. Everything we ordered was top notch and so flavorful! - shrimp, octopus and scallop ceviche: different than the ceviche I'm used to, as it seemed to have maybe a tamarind flavor to it? Not sure if that's the Sonoran style but it was really good - kids Mac and cheese: our daughter loved it and honestly I did as well. You can tell it's not boxed and they use good quality ingredients - tropical dawn cocktail: this was SO good and I really liked the grenadine - blu ribeye: this was our favorite. The steak was cooked perfectly and I loved the anchovy butter on top! You can't taste any fishiness but it adds great flavor - fettucine chipotle: we're not big pasta people usually but we enjoyed this dish. It has a little kick to it and the shrimps are big The vibe was nice, great for a date night or drinks with a friend. The lights were a little dim on the patio for me, but that could just be me getting old lol. Overall, great food and amazing service! read more

If you're looking for consistently amazing food and service, BLU Seafood never misses. Every visit is a great experience, spotless restaurant, welcoming atmosphere, and service that makes you feel genuinely taken care of. The Aguachile Ribeye (medium rare, always) is unreal!, rich, flavorful, and honestly addictive. We're also huge fans of the complimentary little soup they bring out before dinner (don't sleep on it), plus the octopus and shrimp appetizer "chicharron" with their salsa is a must order every time. Drink wise, the mezcal old fashioned is perfection, smooth, smoky, and dangerously good. Shoutout to Thomas who is fantastic, and to everyone who is always so kind and welcoming. Every single visit has been enjoyable, which is exactly why I finally had to write this review. Highly recommend. read more

We decided to try this on a Thursday night, I think the restaurant is still relatively new. We ordered the Guava Breeze and the margarita. The guava breeze was delicious but the drinks did take quite a bit and there weren't that many people in the restaurant. We then got the surf and turf and the president tacos. The surf and turf was a huge portion (great to share) and was all really good, the lobster was cooked a tad too long but other than that it was really great. The tacos come with 2 tacos à la carte but they are huge and these ones had amazing flavors. We ended with the Nutella stuffed churros and ice cream which were perfect. Would love to come back and try some other things on the menu again once the restaurant is a bit more established. read more

Well sad to say it was a disappointing experience. Our drinks were tasty, we ordered a dozen oysters which were fresh but needed dipping sauces- served w lime and a weird Mexican type sauce none of us liked. Plain red wine vinegar n shallots would have helped but not available. We ordered prawn fettuccine, ceviche and burger. Service was poor, had to get up twice for a fork and something else while servers were on there phones not coming over once to check on us. It was a one n done for us. 175 for lunch for 3- Meh! This was a nice surprise we stopped in here. I had been wanting to try this for a while, but it was a Saturday night and thought we'd have a hard time getting in so we just set up at the bar and it was lovely. We were greeted immediately. Service was great. We started with a couple cold drafts and then did an appetizer with the shrimp cocktail. It was really delicious. It had a little bit too much onions for my taste, but the shrimp, the Clamato, the flavors it was wonderful. It kind of reminded me of something that we would find in Rocky point. For entree, we tried the Presidente taco. It came with two of them and it was absolutely delicious. I'm not even sure that I will want to try any other tacos on the menu because it was that good. A perfect share for me and my husband. We will definitely come back. read more

Overall our second experience was really good. They were definitely undermanned on Easter and you can feel it a little on the service. Our fist round of drinks took a while to come out as our server was also the bartender. She was very good though for the capacity she had to work. The host brought our drinks to us but then didn't know which drink was what. This is something that communication would've helped with. Ask the bartender which drink it is so you can relay it to the table. The food was really good. The drinks not so much. We're ordered the surf and turf and the lobster was amazing. Steak had great flavor. The tuna tartare was fantastic, with fresh ahi and avocado. My wife got the octopus and risotto and it was my favorite dish. I've never had octopus as tender as that. The risotto was very flavorful but also very heavy. The kids burgers were fantastic as well. I took a bite from my kids and the patty itself tasted great and was juicy not like a standard kids burger... The drinks were in the sweeter side and that's why I didn't like them too much. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Very tropical tulum vibes with great aesthetics. My three stars was purely due to service based on the price point. If I'm going to spend a couple hundred dollars on dinner and pay gratuity which I would love given 20% anyway; I want the service to be above and beyond and just atleast have the people have some knowledge of what they're bringing out and hiring enough prior for a Easter lunch/day. read more

Went for happy hour on Friday night, happy hour starts at 11:00am on Fridays!! We sat at the bar and were greeted promptly. I love how part of the bar opens out onto a great big outdoor eating area. So you have bar inside and out. House wine is $10/glass for happy hour, the wines are good too, from California!! Oysters were also on special $2 each so we had a dozen. I had to ask for cocktail sauce and it wasn't very good so I asked for horseradish and they brought it out to me. They were good. The shrimp Pozole was awesome!! The broth had had good heat but not over powering and great flavor from the chilies. The toppings is onion, cabbage radish are all on the side. Pretty good amount of shrimp and hominy. It's served with a bowl of tortilla chips. My husband ordered the grilled mahi mahi tacos and they had great flavor. The mango sauce is served on the side which is nice because I don't like a lot of the sweetness on my tacos. I will definitely go back. They have an extensive taco menu and I want to try the Del Mar tacos....octopus!!! read more

I was looking for a good piece of fish, veggies & a good appetizer in the Gilbert, Az area. Blu Seafood popped up on my radar so I thought I'd try something new. I loved the live music, what a treat. Nice vibe, ambiance & good energy. We sat inside because it was chillyoutside. Very clean inside & nice seating indoors. They have a really nice bar with a variety of wines & mixed drinks available. They do not have hot teas available, which was a bummer for me. It was Friday evening around 6pm & parking was a bit of a challenge. There are several other restaurants located in the same center as Blu Seafood. We made a reservation & we were seated immediately. Our server, Alondra was FIRST CLASS!!! Took great care of us & checked on us regularly with a smile. We had a small issue with one of our orders, the Halibut was waaay overcooked but she handled it quickly & the new order was perfect. I ordered Chilean Seabass, which came with a side of Parmesan creamy potatoes & salad. The salad wasn't crisp/fresh but the rest of the meal was good. We also ordered a Tempura Shrimp/Calamari appetizer & the calamari was a little over cooked but ok. Before our meal came out Alondra had a small cup of a soup broth sample sent to our table that was good but could use a little less salt. The broth is used in their Pozole soups, & has a lot of flavor & is a good choice if you're looking for something to warm you up :) I think Blu Seafood is a new location, so I plan on visiting them again & doing a second review because I think they are in the stages of fine tuning there restaurant. I'll update soon! :) read more

First, the most important thing - the food was quite good. I would definitely go again just based on tastiness. We tried a variety of dishes and enjoyed them all. Appetizers of guac and chips and steak bites; entrees of lobster risotto, salmon en nogada, sea bass and a lemon cod. All were good. Not to mention the complimentary spicy fish broth they bring you in the beginning. I really enjoyed that too! The service, on the other hand, was lacking a bit. It was a Thursday night and not busy at all. When asked for recommendations, our server named like 10 random things on the menu . Someone may want to teach her how to upsell a couple nice items. We ordered a couple appetizers and drinks and then discussed what we were going to eat (we like to share so everyone has to be in agreement lol). The server came back several times...she could have given us a little space. The kicker was about 10 minutes after we ordered she came back and had to retake our order because "something happened with the system". Food came out pretty timely and, as mentioned, was good. The server kept coming back though...a little space to enjoy the meal would have be nice. We were celebrating a birthday so the birthday boy got a complimentary Flan which was great. There was also live music. It was nice but a little loud, so just consider what kind of vibe you're going for. All in all it was a good experience. Maybe the server just needs more experience. read more

My friend and I tried Blu Seafood for an early dinner on a Saturday evening. We had gotten a reservation, although it was early, so it probably wasn't needed. They have a big bar area on the right when you walk in and some patio seating. We were seated inside immediately upon arrival. Our server came by to drop off some fish broth as a complementary sipping treat while we looked over the menu. We ordered sodas which were also brought out quickly. For our meals, I went with the Cesar salad & crab cakes. My friend ordered the Chilean sea bass, which was pan-fried, it was served a top cheesy mashed potatoes, and a side of mango pico and a side salad. The crab cakes were nice and crisp, but not particularly too flavorful. The dipping sauce helped but I think the breading could've used more salt and seasoning. My friend said her dish was good, but the side salad was missing dressing, which they brought out later. We ordered churros for dessert to end the meal. Those were good but quite sweet with the chocolate filling. The churros come with ice cream, which they forgot to send initially & was brought later. Overall, so-so experience. I feel that given the items prices, execution should've aligned better. Service was good even though it did get busier at the restaurant as the evening went on. read more

Seafood Fact: The US Department of Health recommends eating two servings of seafood a week. The average American eats less than one serving of seafood per week though. Need help getting another weekly serving? Head to Blu Seafood! Having just left an event, my friend Gina L. (go add her) and I decided to share two taco plates in order to get more variety. We ordered The President ($18 - Shrimp sauteed in butter and garlic tossed in chipotle creme, Chihuahua cheese crust, pickled red onion, avocado mousse, and fresh cilantro) and Fish Tacos ($15 - breaded fish, coleslaw, and chipotle sauce). I also shared a Carajillo and a Pistachio Paradise cocktail with Gretel Y. (go add her too --- she's the PhxSE CM). Also to be had were the fish ceviche and the shrimp ceviche. Let's get into it: A lot of places in town pre-cook the seafood for their ceviche but not here. They do it f'real f'real with raw shrimp and raw fish (it gets cooked in the lime juice it's tossed in) which is legit. As for the tacos, as good as a freshly fried fish taco was, I was over the moon with The President. It was so flavorful! I also enjoyed the complimentary cups of sipping broth at the start of the meal. I would have it daily if I could. Yum! This is a nice place. Good for dates, for hanging out with friends, or even as a lone diner. Do you and have some seafood. read more

The steak was barely edible. It was all grizzle. I couldn't bother to work around it. I ate maybe 3 pieces. Was never offered an alternative. The prices were ridiculous for pasta. $1 worth of pasta and $2 worth of cheese. Ordered crème brûlée that they never bothered to brûlée. The waitress was very sweet and had a great attitude but I'm not sure if they just take orders but our orders all came out by what looked like the bus boy. Not sure if this is how it's done now. After trying Origin Monday and being blown away, I brought the entire team here for a party of 13 a couple days later. Cocktails were great, appetizers were great, and the team loved the seafood dishes. Ambiance here is great, for sure. I have to still give a rating of 4 because the steak was actually pretty awful. I really wanna almost go 3 based off this one dish. Being the most expensive thing on the menu, the surf and turf, this was totally disappointing for me.
