This was a nice surprise we stopped in here. I had been wanting to try this for a while, but it was a Saturday night and thought we'd have a hard time getting in so we just set up at the bar and it was lovely. We were greeted immediately. Service was great. We started with a couple cold drafts and then did an appetizer with the shrimp cocktail. It was really delicious. It had a little bit too much onions for my taste, but the shrimp, the Clamato, the flavors it was wonderful. It kind of reminded me of something that we would find in Rocky point. For entree, we tried the Presidente taco. It came with two of them and it was absolutely delicious. I'm not even sure that I will want to try any other tacos on the menu because it was that good. Overall our second experience was really good. They were definitely undermanned on Easter and you can feel it a little on the service. Our fist round of drinks took a while to come out as our server was also the bartender. She was very good though for the capacity she had to work. The host brought our drinks to us but then didn't know which drink was what. This is something that communication would've helped with. Ask the bartender which drink it is so you can relay it to the table. The food was really good. The drinks not so much. We're ordered the surf and turf and the lobster was amazing. Steak had great flavor. The tuna tartare was fantastic, with fresh ahi and avocado. My wife got the octopus and risotto and it was my favorite dish. I've never had octopus as tender as that. The risotto was very flavorful but also very heavy. The kids burgers were fantastic as well. I took a bite from my kids and the patty itself tasted great and was juicy not like a standard kids burger... The drinks were in the sweeter side and that's why I didn't like them too much. We sat outside, just 2 of us, it took more than 10 minutes for someone to greet us, that was ok for us, we were in no rush, but it showed a lack of service. We order a couple glasses of wine, they were out of the Chardonnay I ordered and also didn't have a presseco my wife ordered, frustrated, We picked something else, and moved forward with the menu. We ordered a couple appetizers, a raw tuna app over avocado and some stuffed shrimp, both very good, then we decided to order the Alaska Halibut, it was recommended by the server, we waited, and waited, it took over 30 minutes for this to arrive, and when it did, it was laughable, tops 4oz. Filet for over $40, it was dry, the broccolinni was cold, sauce cold. All in all, we discussed would we come back?, with the service and food, we'd rather just head over to Buck and Ryders for a fantastic seafood selection, might give it one more try? read more

My husband and I had a date night and made reservations for 8:30pm for a Friday night. Coming into the restaurant, it was crowded and there was live music playing. It's dim inside and trendy and date-night spot like. I was surprised and thrilled with being given a cup of fish broth to start the evening. It's a nice complimentary start and with the weather being cold and windy outside, it was warm and delicious. We got: Blu Ceviche: we omitted the mango due to my husband's allergy. Even then, the ceviche was fresh and full of flavor! 9.5/10 (I'm sure with the mango it would be a full 10) Ribeye Aguachile: we got the steak medium rare and it was so good. 10/10. It definitely has a kick and I kept drinking water but it was so good that I kept eating it. The President Tacos: 10/10. I loved the charred cheese. Maybe not the best description but it is on the higher end side. They had live music and most people were well dressed, including staff and guests. The pricing for the food was very reasonable. I would like to come here again and try other things. I would say that we had a really enjoyable dinner at this place and we highly recommend this location. We needed to sit on the patio as we had our dog with us, and from the beginning our server was great (unfortunately I can't recall his name). When I walked in I didn't see any hosts, but our server walked by and got us seated quickly. It was our first time so our server walked us through the menu highlights and offered some recommendations. We're also huge fans of the complimentary little soup they bring out before dinner (don't sleep on it), plus the octopus and shrimp appetizer "chicharron" with their salsa is a must order every time. We decided to try this on a Thursday night, I think the restaurant is still relatively new. We ordered the Guava Breeze and the margarita. The guava breeze was delicious but the drinks did take quite a bit and there weren't that many people in the restaurant. We then got the surf and turf and the president tacos. The surf and turf was a huge portion (great to share) and was all really good, the lobster was cooked a tad too long but other than that it was really great. The tacos come with 2 tacos à la carte but they are huge and these ones had amazing flavors. We ended with the Nutella stuffed churros and ice cream which were perfect. Tomas was our server, and his recommendations were in point. Not only was he extremely attentive, but also super helpful as this was our first time here. We started with a half dozen oysters which were super plump and very good. I got the Salmon En Nogada which is a traditional Mexican dish, and our food runner (may have been the manager?) gave us some background on this dish that was really neat to know- it's traditionally made with beef and to celebrate Mexicos independence with the colors of the dish (red, green) and OH MY GOSH talk about flavor. Hands down one of the best salmon dishes I've ever had. My husband had the ribeye aguachile and that was incredible too. Went for happy hour on Friday night, happy hour starts at 11:00am on Fridays!! We sat at the bar and were greeted promptly. I love how part of the bar opens out onto a great big outdoor eating area. So you have bar inside and out. House wine is $10/glass for happy hour, the wines are good too, from California!! Oysters were also on special $2 each so we had a dozen. I had to ask for cocktail sauce and it wasn't very good so I asked for horseradish and they brought it out to me. They were good. The shrimp Pozole was awesome!! The broth had had good heat but not over powering and great flavor from the chilies. The toppings is onion, cabbage radish are all on the side. Pretty good amount of shrimp and hominy. It's served with a bowl of tortilla chips. My husband ordered the grilled mahi mahi tacos and they had great flavor. It was Friday evening around 6pm & parking was a bit of a challenge. There are several other restaurants located in the same center as Blu Seafood. We made a reservation & we were seated immediately. Our server, Alondra was FIRST CLASS!!! Took great care of us & checked on us regularly with a smile. We had a small issue with one of our orders, the Halibut was waaay overcooked but she handled it quickly & the new order was perfect. I ordered Chilean Seabass, which came with a side of Parmesan creamy potatoes & salad. The salad wasn't crisp/fresh but the rest of the meal was good. We also ordered a Tempura Shrimp/Calamari appetizer & the calamari was a little over cooked but ok. Before our meal came out Alondra had a small cup of a soup broth sample sent to our table that was good but could use a little less salt. The broth is used in their Pozole soups, & has a lot of flavor & is a good choice if you're looking for something to warm you up :) I think Blu Seafood is a new location, so I plan on visiting them again & doing a second review because I think they are in the stages of fine tuning there restaurant. Appetizers of guac and chips and steak bites; entrees of lobster risotto, salmon en nogada, sea bass and a lemon cod. All were good. Not to mention the complimentary spicy fish broth they bring you in the beginning. I really enjoyed that too! The service, on the other hand, was lacking a bit. It was a Thursday night and not busy at all. When asked for recommendations, our server named like 10 random things on the menu . Someone may want to teach her how to upsell a couple nice items. We ordered a couple appetizers and drinks and then discussed what we were going to eat (we like to share so everyone has to be in agreement lol). The server came back several times...she could have given us a little space. The kicker was about 10 minutes after we ordered she came back and had to retake our order because "something happened with the system". Food came out pretty timely and, as mentioned, was good. The server kept coming back though...a little space to enjoy the meal would have be nice. We were celebrating a birthday so the birthday boy got a complimentary Flan which was great. The prices were ridiculous for pasta. $1 worth of pasta and $2 worth of cheese. Ordered crème brûlée that they never bothered to brûlée. I crave their shrimp tacos, it comes with four large shrimps, so sometimes I order extra tortillas and make a couple of extra tacos with it. They have a big bar area on the right when you walk in and some patio seating. We were seated inside immediately upon arrival. Our server came by to drop off some fish broth as a complementary sipping treat while we looked over the menu. We ordered sodas which were also brought out quickly. For our meals, I went with the Cesar salad & crab cakes. My friend ordered the Chilean sea bass, which was pan-fried, it was served a top cheesy mashed potatoes, and a side of mango pico and a side salad. The crab cakes were nice and crisp, but not particularly too flavorful. The dipping sauce helped but I think the breading could've used more salt and seasoning. My friend said her dish was good, but the side salad was missing dressing, which they brought out later. We ordered churros for dessert to end the meal. Those were good but quite sweet with the chocolate filling. The churros come with ice cream, which they forgot to send initially & was brought later. Overall, so-so experience. We ordered The President ($18 - Shrimp sauteed in butter and garlic tossed in chipotle creme, Chihuahua cheese crust, pickled red onion, avocado mousse, and fresh cilantro) and Fish Tacos ($15 - breaded fish, coleslaw, and chipotle sauce). I also shared a Carajillo and a Pistachio Paradise cocktail with Gretel Y. (go add her too --- she's the PhxSE CM). Also to be had were the fish ceviche and the shrimp ceviche. Let's get into it: A lot of places in town pre-cook the seafood for their ceviche but not here. They do it f'real f'real with raw shrimp and raw fish (it gets cooked in the lime juice it's tossed in) which is legit. As for the tacos, as good as a freshly fried fish taco was, I was over the moon with The President. It was so flavorful! Waiter was quick and attentive! He brought out complimentary cups of warm sipping broth called Jugo Bichi, which translates to naked juice. It was delicious and perfect on a cold night. I believe it was a fish broth with Ancho chilis? I can't really remember. I ordered the Guava Breeze with rum and for my entree, I ordered Shrimp Ajillo pasta. My drink was good but just a tad sweet.
