I love Caldwell's bbq, this was my first time trying the Tex mex version. I opted for a burrito, the jalapeño popper, and Mexican corn. I loved that the burrito doesn't have any rice, maximizes the protein. All the food was great. But if I'm being honest I think I prefer the classic bbq food. I'm not a huge Tex mex fan, personally preference. But the quality of this place is top notch. Love the outdoor seating, inside can be squishy.

2/12/26 Starving during appointment and shopping day. Circled back for a second visit and not a minute too soon. Parking 5/5 Small lot but no problem slipping into a parking spot near the entrance at 4:30 pm. Atmosphere 5/5 Rated based in similar venues, clean but small indoor dining area with high-top seating. We chose outdoor seating because it was a beautiful day. Plenty of seating and only a few families outside. Pleasant experience on the patio today. Service 5/5 Just like our last visit, the kitchen crew are great. Our order taker and restaurant ambassador always does nice job mixing it up with me while taking my order. Kudos! Food 10/5 Not a typo. This is crazy good food. Their Brisket is amazing and consistent and has pushed my former number 1 off their pedestal and has become my new #1. Great job guys! Today we ordered a feast. (1) fatty brisket 1/2 lb with bread. (3) Birria tacos. (6) outlawed bacon wrapped Jalapeños. (1) quart of Elote street corn. Meal for two was so much food we have another meal. Darn it guess I'll take one for the team! $102.96 w/tip. Eat well, eat Mexi-Q my friends- SYOY!

Service - Excellent. Extremely quick and friendly! Overall Vibe - Small inside but Plenty of outdoor seating! I love the laid back atmosphere with the picnic tables and metal trays for easy cleanup. Brisket Birria - Easily our favorite. Has a lot of flavor and the consume is key. Wish it had a bit more cheese but overall could've just gotten these and been happy. Brisket Taco - Was a bit dry and salty but the flavor was nice and Smokey. Huge piece of meat too. Chili Verde - also a bit dry, wish it had more chili verde sauce. Smoked Carnitas - I wouldn't get both Chili Verde and Smoked Carnitas they were pretty similar tasting with smoked carnitas even dryer. Could use more toppings or salsa for sure. Mac n cheese - fantastic. Gooey and cheesy, full of flavor. Not too thick or watery, great consistency. Elote - shockingly light. Smokey. A little liquidy but overall good! Banana Pudding - delicious, definitely a must try. Very very strong banana flavor so I was wondering if they add additional flavor because I've never had something taste so banana-y but it was delicious! BBQ Sauces - they offer two delicious bbq sauces complimentary. I highly recommend adding those to the more dry items. We do wish they offered some Mexican salsa options instead of just bbq because that would've been great on top of all tacos. Overall I would return and get the Birria tacos with a side of Mac n cheese and banana pudding for desert and be happy! Maybe I should try one of their bbq options instead since that is what they are known for.

Came here with a friend for lunch for the first time. Parking is very limited and the inside is pretty small. When you go in you have to loops around the only large table in there so no one actually sits inside because it's a bit awkward. The line goes by pretty quickly. The cashier also cuts and weighs the meat right at the counter. I should have gotten something more mexi q but the El General Patton was calling my name. It was alot of sandwich for $20. I ended up bringing it home and finished it the next day. Love their house BBQ and Golden BBQ sauce. Staff was really friendly and inviting too.

I love this place. The bbq Mexican fusion is on point. My first time here, I ordered 1 Birria Tacos, 1 chicken taco, 1 Mexi-q, and half pound of brisket. I fell in love with the presentation and the taste. I especially love a good jalapeno popper so I really enjoyed the Mexi-q. The service was great from the guys cooking and serving. The inside is very quaint, but the outside patio is very open with plenty of seating.

What a surprise and delight! This BBQ is legit and I can't recommend it enough. I would say it's on the pricier side but the quality of meat and the amount of food you get equate to the price you pay so it's completely worth it. We got the Mexi BBQ platter and shared it amongst my husband toddler. It comes with: -1/3 lb Brisket -Pulled Pork -Sausage -2 brisket birrira tacos - 2 mexi Q twinkies - 1 Brisket Toastada (I could eat 5 of these EASY) - 2 sides. This easily feed 4-5 people.

12/23/2025 I had tried Caldwell County BBQ a while ago and really enjoyed it, so of course their sister location Mexi-Q has been on my must-try list. Finally dined here with a friend for dinner on a Tuesday around 6pm. The small parking lot was full, so I ended up parking down the street. The indoor space is also small. There's one large high top inside, and the line was wrapped around it. We waited in line for about 20 minutes, ordered at the counter, then got our food within a few minutes. It felt too warm and muggy inside, so we sat at one of the many tables on the patio. I went in thinking I'd try a burrito, but got three tacos instead so that I could try different meat options - smoked chile verde pork, smoked carnitas pork, and smoked chicken. The chile verde was my favorite - flavorful, tender pork. The chicken was light on flavor - probably won't order that again. I also got a Mexi-Q Twinkie - jalapeño stuffed with brisket and cream cheese, wrapped with bacon. I would definitely order the Twinkie again. My friend got the El General Patton sandwich - it was stacked so high with 1/3 pound of chopped prime brisket, 1/3 pound of pulled pork, and a 1/3 of a sausage link on a Hawaiian roll. We both enjoyed our meals and left feeling so full. Next time I'm definitely getting a chile verde burrito!

Great brisket Birria tacos! Knowledgeable and hard working staff. Delicious! Tacos completely on point! Same with the MNCHZ. I was slightly disappointed with the Elote side; it was slightly watery. Can't wait to come back!

I came to Caldwell with some friends on a Friday night. The outdoor seating was awesome for when the weathers not too hot. The food was delicious! It's a fusion of Mexican and bbq, can't go wrong. My favorites were the hot link, birria tacos & elote. The brisket was a bit dry imo but everything else was pretty good. A tasty spot and awesome location for checking out the neighborhood & bars after dinner.

First time here, have been to Caldwell BBQ many times and was looking forward to an evening meal with some friends. I arrived about 30 minutes early and had an opportunity to chat with the manager. It was not busy and he went through each dish and explained how it was different from the dishes at Caldwell BBQ. I appreciated the information and pondered the different choices. Other two in party showed up and placed started to get busy. I selected the smoked brisket burrito with beans and pico. The side dish was elote. Food was very good, not to spicy and everyone else enjoyed their various taco selections. Inside seating is limited, outside covered patio has misters but still too dam hot for Arizona summers. Definitely will be back to try the other dishes. All good here. Its up the street from several other BBQ restaurants. This one is unique and quaint with excellent food. All good here!

I love BBQ!!! It's one of my favorites and this place did not disappoint!! The brisket was very flavorful and their house made sauces were awesome!! The pork sandwhich (east side pig) was a little dry, but the flavor was still good! We will be back soon to try more menu items!

SEXI- Q This review is rated- MA: Mostly Appetizing Here they have Tex Mex BBQ that is not your average county fare. It made me think bad things with all the good things that went into my mouth. This BBQ will be sure to arouse your taste buds and get you wet... orally, because you will drooling over the food and won't be long before you know you have hit a culinary climax. BIRRIA BURRITO- this thing was about 9 inches and thick! Once it grazes your lips, it will have you screaming Ay Papi! There were creamy beans inside that will ooze from the tip to the corners of your mouth. SMOKED CARNITAS TACO- They don't have pink tacos, but their barbequed pork tacos sure are succulent, juicy, and stuffed with their meat. The meat is so MOIST, you will have no problem getting it down your throat. The tortilla, meat, salsa...I dare say, Perfection. I'd be glad to eat out these tacos any day. CALABACITAS- Cooked in a rich hearty broth, the Mexican squash is savory and delicious. The flavors get all over your tongue, and just make you want to lick up all the juice. THIRST T(R)AP- Besides the soda fountain and bottled Mexican Soda there is beer and libations to keep you loose with your inhibitions. If you are really thirsty you might even find yourself double fisted... with alcoholic beverages, that is. INSIDE /OUT - the restaurant is crowded inside, with very limited seating to only accommodate about 12 people. You will be up close and personal. So don't be surprised if you rub elbows... or other body parts. Your best bet is to sit outside where there are plenty of bench tables bordered around the patio. If I had one critique, the cutting board at the ordering counter does not have any barrier, and the BBQ meat is exposed to bodily fluids. The unprotected Mex can transmit disease. Try not to get turned off by this off-putting set-up If you have a real lust for food, you may get hot and bothered enough to give a chef's kiss, or give the chef a kiss. Indulging in pleasures here have a high price point, but that never stopped people from going to the strip club. It's hard to argue with the prices when the Tex Mex is so good that it will give you a mouth-gasm. After gulping down their meat, this place has easily become a Top 3 taco / burrito place for me in AZ.

Very welcoming the second you walk in! Such a cute little place, plenty of seating outside as inside has one long table in center with wrap around long table along the wall with windows. Love everything about this place, wish it was closer but worth a special trip for the best brisket I've ever had! They gave us a sample of the brisket and wow, clearly hubby and I were obsessed as we each ordered 2 brisket tacos and half pound brisket for our son to devour with side of Mac n cheese that we all enjoyed as well! We already are fans of the original Caldwell County BBQ but this is our new favorite for BBQ fix but Mexi-Q style!

The ceviche was great with a good amount of shrimp and avocado, very flavorful. Both were great considering they were only $6 each. For entrees we ordered the SoCal Burrito and the Beast Burrito. The SoCal Burrito was really good, and there was a lot of big shrimps. The al pastor was a bit salty as was the carne asada in the Beast Burrito but it wasn't too bad. We also ordered one crispy fish taco which was good and came with a heaping scoop of guacamole. I really enjoyed the side salad that comes with the burritos! It had huge corn nuts which was a nice surprise. All in all their menu could be a tad larger (I was hoping for burrito bowls or a fish burrito) but their food is pretty tasty. Our server was very nice and checked in on us just the right amount of times, offering more chips and salsa as soon as we needed it. Their plates are also huge, i've gotten the breakfast steak and eggs before and it comes with hot, generous portions. They make great tacos as well, the shrimp tacos are a must try. Workers are always friendly, it's got a super cute interior with the painted mural, and it's always clean and fresh. Highly recommend for a quick bite!

Burrito was huge but it got a little dry at the end. Cheese quesadilla was okay, might be better if we got not just plain cheese. I enjoyed it with the pico de gallo and the green sauce. Wish there was more pico de gallo though. They also have sauce station and pickled onions which my husband really liked. Service was quick! There was a line when we got there but the food came so fast a little after we got a table. They have drive thru too. Ambiance was great. Seats are limited and they have outdoor options. They played Mexican music which adds to the authenticity. Saw reviews that parking is limited but we got lucky, they're were still a few open spots when we came. Overall, would recommend and will come back
