We've been coming here for years and have just never gotten around to writing a long overdue review. The brisket chili is legitimately one of the best things I've ever had. It's. So. Good. We've done the brisket, pulled pork, turkey, and sausage. All are fantastic, but the brisket comes out on top. Incredible flavor and always so moist. The house made pickles are also a delightful addition. What really put it all over the top was our experience today. I was resisting the bread pudding but just couldn't stop thinking about it and ended up caving and getting it to go after we finished our meal. The man behind the counter, assuming one of the owners, made sure we got to try the homemade vanilla ice cream... game over. It was so damn good. 5/5 for food and service. read more

Man oh man, I've said it once and I'll say it to the end of time, I love a good family owned establishment. WoodBarn is a charming gem here in Gilbert, with the ambiance truly living up to its name. It features a small, but doable outdoor seating area, and as you enter, you're greeted by wooden panels lining the wall, just like...well...a barn. The staff is incredibly friendly, and service was stellar. I mean the time it took from ordering to the food hitting the table clocked ~3 min. Now the food. As always I judge a BBQ joint on its pulled pork and Mac n Cheese! So we started with that as well as a Johnny cake. The pulled pork was tender, seamlessly swooning under the gentle press of your teeth... The bun also stood out. Some places put awesome pulled pork on a mediocre to bad bun, but theirs is really solid! Mac n Cheese was thick, flavorful, and very filling (Glad I went with the smaller size). And for those of you who like a good cornbread, I give you the Johnny Cake! Sweeter than an average cornbread, but moist and delicious! Found this little gem, and it did not disappoint! This is truly a family-owned business--Mom was working the front counter while son, Sky, was cooking in the back. We all ordered their take on a cheesesteak, made with tender brisket and the same rich cheese sauce they use for their mac and cheese. It was absolutely delicious! Me and my wife are always looking for bqq spots around the east mesa / queen creek area and this place is really good with a great staff who are very nice and look happy to be there. The radio was playing and it sounded like the kitchen were having a hoot and holler enjoying work . We got the brisket , pork, sausage , rib tips, Mac & cheese and potato salad . OMG, this is the place for great BBQ and smoked meats. This afternoon my husband and I went for a late lunch. He had the Brisket and I had the Stuffed Spud, which had your choice of meat and toppings. I got the Brisket too. Everything was so delicious and the Brisket was fork tender. Came in last night shortly before closing (they close at 7 on Saturday night, heads-up). The young man behind the register taking the order did not rush us at all. He was happy to answer questions and let us look at the menu. The food was great- we had the pork ribs, Mac n cheese, cornbread, and the baked potato. What made this place stand out was the service- we had a spill at our table and the same young man that was at the register came and helped us out. He was so kind. He said, "please don't worry about this! I was going to mop the floors tonight anyway, so you kind of helped me out here." It's rare to come across kindness like this anymore. We live in Scottsdale and don't often visit Gilbert, but when we do, we will stop by at woodbarn. read more

Overall it was pretty good. We got the family meal. The cuts of meat were good... not too fatty. Flavor was good. I enjoyed the potato salad. Don't really recommend the brisket chili - it's missing something (it's kinda like shredded beef in a tomato broth?) I saw this on TicTok and had to give it a try. It was about a 45 min drive. They had a couple handicap spots close to the front. I ordered the small family pack. 1lb brisket. 1 lb pork and 2 pints of side which I chose potato salad and beans. Service was wonderful. It was very clean. This was the best pulled pork I have ever eaten. The brisket was moist and tasty. The potato salad was good and so were the beans. What a pleasant experience! My son, and I, were craving BBQ but you usually get dry, over-cooked servings. Not here. The pulled pork sandwich was moist, tender, plentiful, and delicious! I wanted a two meat plate. The menu doesn't have a traditional selection for plate combinations. They specialize in sandwiches and family combinations for take home. It looked like they did sell meat by the pound and half pound, however ordering portion sizes for a meat plate, the choices are 1/4 pound increments. I chose the sausage and brisket. There is a single choice of sauce, sweet. The sausage had a consistency of a hotdog, not a typical BBQ joint casing or texture or consistency. The brisket was moist and well cooked, but felt colder to eat quickly while on the plate on a few minutes. They have a way of wanting to direct customers to their way of BBQ and ordering. It works when you are the best. I wish they were but I do not think I will be back. This just isn't what making it easy to order BBQ is all about. read more

We came here a couple of years ago and weren't in love with the food, but thought we'd give it another shot. Let's just say it'll probably be another couple of years before we come back again. The coleslaw was overly sweet and pretty bland, and I didn't care for the ribs at all. The brisket was good--not great, but decent. On the positive side, the place was clean. There is a reason the reviews are so high here. WOW, just wow. We are so glad we stumbled upon this place in Queen Creek. We had the brisket and turkey. Both were amazing! For sides - we had the chili Mac and cheese combo and potato salad. The real star of the show here is the cornbread- literally the best cornbread I have EVER had in my life. Employees were super nice and helpful here as well. I cannot wait to go back. The only small complaint I have is that I wish the pickles and onions were not individually contained in those small plastic containers- seems like too much plastic waste. This does not take away from the quality of the food, etc... I just hope the owners read this and consider another options. read more

I've never tried the prime rib, only available on Saturdays- while supplies last, until today. Let me tell you my only regret is I haven't had it sooner. Years later and still a 5 star experience! We think this is the best bbq place that we've been to over the years of living in Arizona. The service is always quick and the place is clean. Like most bbq places, they have a walk up counter to order and pay. They have someone bring your food out to you. They also have a condiment counter as well as a drink station set up with to-go containers. Today, we took advantage of their lunch special. This includes a sandwich of your choice, a side of your choice and a drink. I couldn't pass up a Johnny Cake for a $1. I actually couldn't finish my food so I'll enjoy it later! Food was amazing, got the Sunday family meal and for 4 people there was still a bunch of food left over. I love this BBQ spot, the brisket is fall apart tender and the baby back ribs are delicious, the bone pulls right out of the meat. The sauce is on point and the chili Mac is one of my favorites. I was expecting more from WoodBarn BBQ. It was good but nothing spectacular. Apparently, WoodBarn was named one of the top 100 Restaurants in the USA a few years ago. It's a typical counter serve BBQ joint. Clean but on the small side. The staff was friendly and they were very quick to serve us. I ordered a Brisket Sandwich, my Dad got a Pulled Pork Sandwich. The sandwiches don't come with sides. However, my Dad and I each ordered a side of beans. The sandwiches were pretty good and the beans were just okay. The meat was pretty juicy but the bun was on the drier side. Nothing spectacular. Maybe it was user error-- I'll be back to try something new next time. read more
