When the mood for BBQ struck, I ordered via Uber Eats as I have heard they have good barbecue. With my health, I can't always eat meat but lately I've been able to tolerate. Bring on the BBQ and try a new to me location! What I ordered: - Baby Back Ribs: very delicious and tender - some of my favorite ribs recently - Green Chili Mac n Cheese: fairly average Mac n Cheese, and something I'd order again as it complimented the ribs - Cowboy Beans (Pinto): not a fan, and I should know better as team baked beans (skip next time) - Green Chili Corn Bread: pretty moist and a good flavor - green chili is a tasty addition - Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding : SKIP THIS ITEM - mushy and ended up putting in the bin I didn't eat all, and had as leftovers the next day. The ribs were surprisingly just as delightful as the first day! This order has intrigued me to take a trip to the establishment to see the ambiance of dining in, and the service the staff provides. Though, Uber Eats did make it convenient and they were exceptionally friendly dropping off. If you are in the mood for BBQ, I recommend Waldo's. read more

After thinking about my previous review, where I rated 3 stars, I have eaten at several other bbq restaurants. I am updating my review to 1 star for Waldos, because the main dish was inedible. That brisket was terrible. The brisket replacing my bad brisket was not good. Tough, dry, chewy. I have friends who swear by this place, and have enjoyed their brisket. This is my go to place for barbecue. It's been awhile since I was here but it was the same great service and atmosphere that I remember. I had the brisket sandwich with cowboy beans and coleslaw. Stopped by with the family. We ordered a variety of meals. We did have an issue with the fried okra. Fresh fried okra was requested, and we were told it is made in the morning and no fresher okra available. The other plates had enough food prepared good and tasty. I decided to try this place after my wife mentioned going here when she was little. Small restaurants that have been around a long time usually know what they're doing. The space itself isn't big, but they serve 32-ounce beers not something you see every day. I ordered the sampler with pulled pork, pulled beef, and brisket. The pulled pork was the standout, the pulled beef was okay, and the brisket was solid. I was bummed they were out of cornbread, but the mac and cheese and fried corn were both excellent. They also bring out a skillet of BBQ sauce to share, which is a nice touch. As someone who has been BBQing for years and is a bit of a BBQ snob, I've had trouble finding great BBQ in the Valley. Waldo's is definitely one of the better spots, and we'll be back. My only complaint is the LED lighting gives off serious UFO abduction vibes. Next time, I'm bringing a hat. I used to come here like twice a month for many years way way back. Then they changed ownership I believe and went down hill so I stopped coming. Well that and I did my own smoking meat. This restaurant is back to where it used to be. For some reason I always get the country ribs. Dinner plate you get two sides and some of the list of sides are unlimited. Ordered pulled pork sandwich with potato wedge and my old favorite country ribs. I noticed the portion were smaller than it used to be but they didn't jack up the price so I think it's fair. Country ribs were good as I remembered. Pulled pork sandwich was pretty good with good portion of the meat. Fried corn on the cob is always yummy and coleslaw not bad either. Service was good and as always food is good. I can't remember how ribs were because it had been long time since I had their ribs. Over all I like this place, nice go to place. Thursday was veteran and first responder discount which is nice. Also if you get a small seat by the bathroom you get discount for being "worst spot" at the restaurant. came to Waldo's in March of this year with family members. I asked if I could please order a hamburger off the kids menu as I do not care for barbecue and I was told no! My husband even offered to pay a couple dollars more for the hamburger and we were still told no!! so I just ordered an order of French fries and they were cold and rubbery when they came. why you have a regular hamburger on a kids menu and not on the regular menu for people who don't care for barbecue is rediculous and shows you are not very customer friendly . I ordered a lot of food for 24 people for my Mother's Day hosting party for yesterday, 5/10/26, and ended up with 28 hungry folks. This is a positive revue and a bit of negative as well. The food was all DELICIOUS! I ordered ribs, sauteed vegetables, potato salad, and the peach cobbler. I paid $580. It's always better to have some extra vs running out but..... I believed them on the quantities they told me I needed to order and had half the potato salad left and over half of the ribs, and it's not like people didn't eat. I could've easily saved close to $200 with the right quantities. Kind of a bummer for sure on the wallet but everyone was happy with the tasty food. We had Muslims who couldn't eat the food due to the chicken and pork in the same space of the container. This is now my #1 BBQ place in the valley. My previous favorite was Little Miss BBQ, and they do make some great meats, but their prices are considerably higher. Waldo's still has fair prices, considering the economy we are currently in. They also have great meats. I had the juicy brisket and a sausage link. Both were absolutely delicious. As good as I've had since I left Texas twenty-four years ago. It's almost a sin to put any sauce on the brisket. However, their sauce is very addictive. They bring it out hot on a skillet, just as it should be. Sad to say that the mac & cheese was very disappointing. Like something that had been sitting in a crock pot too long at a picnic. Parts of it were dry and chewy, and it could have been more cheesy. Overall, the meat is why you're here; they do that right. I wish they treated their mac & cheese with the same love they do their brisket, but I'll just have to order more meat next time and skip the mac. read more

Until tonight- they failed to put in one of the meats on my husband's super sampler meal w shrimp. It's an almost $40 dinner itself. Anyways it's really wasn't a huge deal BUT when I called to at least bring it to their attention- I didn't get an apology or anything. Just some weird dead silence from the "manager". As a retired smoker, I really appreciate good BBQ, and they do not disappoint. Tried the riblets last month, excellent and sides are tasty and ample. Sunday, I had a pulled pork sandwich on a brioche bun served with a side of sweet and slightly spicy bbq sauce, pickles and potato salad. I came in for a to go order for a family get together and Waldo's did not disappoint. Food was really good. I ordered brisket, coleslaw, beans, cornbread for six. Really enjoyed it but wish I had ordered more brisket. I wanted enough for six but my order seems a bit less than that. Brisket was tender, smoky and delish. I've ordered Waldo's a few times now. Usually it's not too bad. It'll do for some barbecue. Today I ordered pulled pork and brisket both lean and fatty. The pork was average. The brisket though was awful. I've had it before and it was mediocre. Today was the worst. The brisket was cold and completely dry, I'm talking drier than Well Done steak dry. I am very convinced that it was left over from yesterday because it had that texture of being refrigerated. It also was more like corn beef than brisket. But I wanna put the emphasis on the texture. Bone dry and not even room temperature. I will never be desperate enough to order from here again. read more

I took my wife to Waldos last week. I have not been here in years. No reason for it, just have not gone. We ordered the combo plate with a couple of extra sides. Mac and cheese and the beans were very good. The food was great, and our waiter was also very good. There is one thing that I wish that they would do, and that is, that they would give you a bigger piece of the cornbread. That was the only side that was small. Maybe they were running low on it. My out of town company and I were looking for good BBQ and we found it at Waldo's BBQ on Main St. We tried it all Ribs - Delicious, Pork (Wet and regular- We chose Wet. The best I've ever had. Just enough fat to make it tender, but either it all cooked off or they removed it before serving. Shredded Chicken was good too. We were served with a traditional BBQ sauce and a spicy. We had sides of mac/cheese, baked potato, potato wedges, fried okra and corn bread. Wait staff (Daniel) was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. We will be back. If you need to do take out I suggest getting some buns and getting the Wet Pulled Pork. You won't be disappointed. read more

There are so many fun signs on the walls. The service is fast and courteous. The prices are fair and the food is amazing. All the things on the menu are so so good. We were able to try a lot of different items on the menu. The various meats are good but so are all of the different sides. The next time I come here I think my meal may just consist of the sides. Sorry to say not super impressed. We had a party of 8. The service was good the food was ok. We started with fried pickles and onion stack. I liked the thickness of the pickles and their flavor. The batter was ok. The haystack onion rings came out in a big pile of grease. The batter was over powering to the thin onions and the grease was just too much they were just swimming in oil. The food was at best ok. My son and I split the sampler plus. The brisket was dry, the chicken was dry, the ribs were greasy, and the pulled pork was ok. I really enjoyed my house salad. Th okra had the same batter and they were extremely greasy. The coleslaw was flavored well. Potato salad was pretty typical. I did really enjoy the peach cobbler I could have done without the whipped cream since I had ice cream but to each their own The thing that frustrates me with this place is when you pay. They give you an itemized bill then take it away and then just bring back the credit card slip. Last time I was here I ended up double tipping the waiter. Which I am sure they really were appreciative. They do add gratuity to to bill when you have a large party but if you don't look at the itemization when they leave it you wouldn't know it. Surprisingly good for BBQ this far out of the traditional BBQ belt. Pulled pork was a solid B+ and brisket a C+. Mac and cheese was another B. The cornbread was an interesting mix of "yankee fine ground yellow corn meal and wheat flour with cheese and green chillis" another B+. We will definitely be going back and some different choices. BTW I'm a tough reviewer with high standards. Grew up in Memphis and spent a lot of time in Texas. This place would pass muster in either one of those. read more
