Some of the best food comes from dive bars, but un not this place. One of the stars is for the service. Our server was super sweet & personable. She did a good job for what she was dealing with. It's a large place & there were only 2 servers. Hubby got his favorite beer on draft. That's where the other star comes from. The beer was good & it was ice cold. I had Tito's & cranberry juice tall. It was a weak pour. Normally after 2 tall there is no way I would drive. But after 2 I was totally fine. We started With the breaded mushrooms. When they came out the first time, they were not hot & the middle was so cold it was a step above frozen. We let our server know. She apologized & took them back. The next time they were hot & cooked in the middle. We both enjoyed them. Hubby got a Rueben sandwich & fries. He said the sandwich was okay, it was most likely Boars head deli meat. His fries were way undercooked. I got the cheesy Mac. It was not good. I took 2 bites & pushed it aside. It has jalapeños in the sauce. I don't like jalapeños. I don't like the heat, taste or even smell of them. The toast that comes with it would have been good if the had toasted it. I didn't even finish 1 of the pieces. We brought the cheesy Mac home for our daughter. Like me, she loves Mac n cheese, but she also likes jalapeños. She took 1 bite & said it was awful. She threw it away. Great cold beer, but no reason to return since hubby can get cold beer elsewhere we go.

First things first, it was hot in the restaurant, potentially the A/C was not working as well as it should have been or something, but it was not super comfortable. The service was good, I didn't get her name, a younger woman waited on me and she was very kind and did the best she could. The food came out super slow, I ordered empanadas to start, the waitress said they burned the first order (I appreciated that didn't just serve me overdone empanadas lol) once they finally arrived they were just unfortunately bland, and just kind of lacked authenticity. When she finally brought out my main dish, she even apologized for the wait and said "I had to go yell at them". For a main entree I ordered the French dip with onion rings, another reviewer mentioned they were the best they had had. The meat was kind of tough and dry (which is odd for a French Dip, and everything just lacked flavor. Even the au jus really had no kind of salt or much flavor to it. I really hoped after seeing how everyone else rated this place that I had found that little hole in the wall spot putting out killer food that we all long for, sadly this wasn't it.

Those are pretty good odds. They have just recently started a soft launch of their fall/winter menu, which means they are experimenting with a few new dishes while bringing back some old favorites. One of those returning favorites is the crispy cauliflower. Last time around, it was fantastic. This time, while still tasty, it had apparently filed a formal complaint against the word "crispy" because there was very little evidence to support the claim. Even the bartender agreed with me that it was somewhat misrepresented. Tip: Get the sauce on the side. It will help preserve what level of crisp that is intended for this dish. Now, let us move on to the star of the evening. The new chicken parmigiana! Holy mother of God. Butter my butt and call me a biscuit. This may genuinely be one of the most beautiful, perfectly textured, and downright delicious chicken parmigianas I have ever had. The chicken was crisped to absolute perfection, and the way they layered the marinara on top was brilliant. Rather than drowning the chicken in a traditional, liquidy sauce, they used more of a bruschetta-style topping, which gave it texture while somehow allowing the breading to remain gloriously crispy. Hands down, one of the best chicken parmigianas I have ever had. Now we just need to pray to whatever culinary deity is responsible for consistency that they can replicate this thing every time, because this one was ridiculously good. It made me wish I had just ordered a salad because that dressing was so delicious. I ordered the salmon which comes with butternut squash and Brussels. The salmon was fine but I did not like the brussel sprouts or the butternut squash and I did not like the glaze on any other food. I picked up my salmon and left the rest. Hubby was nice enough to offer me half of his salad because he saw how unhappy I was with my mral. That said, I'm sure that there are other people that would absolutely love that meal and that was just a personal taste of mine. You can see the kitchen through the plexiglass divider, and there is bar seating along the divider so you can watch the cooking. We grabbed the last two chairs which were on the bar overlooking the kitchen. The menu had seven choices. Of course we ordered two different things so we could share, but we skipped cocktails. We ordered: *Steak chilaquiles Christmas style (both red and green chile) served with a side of beans and talked with an egg *Green chili pork hash served with a side of beans talked with an egg Both were delicious! We both ordered scrambled eggs, and I'm pretty sure it was more than an egg. I'm not sure how they cook those eggs but they were the best ever. The pinto beans had green chili in it and was so good. I'm from New Mexico, and these tasted like the beans that you rarely find outside of New Mexico. The steak on my chilaquiles was really good - - thin sliced and tender. I was able to easily cut it with just a butter knife. The pork in the hash was so yummy. What are scrumptious brunch! It was nice to sit overlooking the kitchen, as it was quite a show to watch the chef. I was amazed at how over easy eggs were tossed and caught in the pan without the yolks breaking. Heck, I can't even flip eggs with a spatula without breaking the yolk! Anytime I've overlooked a chef cooking, I'm totally in awe of their amazing skills, and this was no different.
