She was so lovely and friendly, promptly there as soon as we were ready for whatever was next, and our sodas never ran even halfway dry. SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS It was time for a re-review of Charleston's. Companion and I arrived at 5 and were seated immediately. We were going to try to eat the same menu as last time or as close to it as possible. We started off with the Dynamite Shrimp. As with the last time it was excellent. Also was the warm spinach and artichoke dip. It too was excellent though I am not understanding why they include sour cream and salsa with it as neither worked well with the flavor of the dip. We ordered non-alcoholic cocktails. Companion ordered a strawberry margarita which was quite good. I ordered the blackberry punch, which was a big mistake. The drink was cloyingly sweet and the flavor was overwhelming. After a few sips I could not drink anymore of it and had to send it back. As a non-alcoholic cocktail it was a disaster. Companion asked if they could make a cranberry margarita and the wish was fulfilled nicely. I finished companion's strawberry margarita which was decent. For main courses, companion had the baby backs which were ordered the last time. A tad overcooked but not bad. It was accompanied with excellent french fries and beans which were identical in taste to ranch beans that come in a can. The beans remained untouched after a taste of them. The fillet was not on the menu this year and instead was flat iron steak with peppercorn sauce. No baked potato anymore and no salad offered. While the steak was reasonably cooked, the smear of sauce over it had exactly by count 4 peppercorns in it. The accompaniment was garlic mashed potatoes, which were dense and without any charm at all. We had asked our waiter Matthew to make sure to include 2 batches of croissants in a bag to take home. Not only was no bread service offered to us, but the ones to take home were completely forgotten by our waiter. The burgundy mushrooms that we had last time are no longer a side dish but are an extra charge now, though the flavor is still top shelf. Desserts were the same as last time, and the quality and flavors did not change from the last time. Service was nice, but slow with the meal taking more than an hour and a half. Removing 1 star and almost removing 2 stars. This restaurant will be evaluated again in the future. 4 stars read more

My wife and I come here periodically for the "Famous" French Dip sandwich. These days, we can split it and be more than happy. I'll usually get a bowl of soup or chili to augment my half, but it's a nice weekend lunch. I also like their salads (like Walt's Champagne Chicken) and other main dishes for dinner time -- even the meatloaf is good. The food and service are consistently good and I can't recall a time that we weren't welcomed as soon as we entered the restaurant. I think a lot of people come to celebrate things since we're usually asked at least once each visit if we are. I guess it is on the pricier side, but splitting for lunch is a good compromise for us. We were here on a Wednesday for an early dinner. Charleston's had been on my radar for quite a while. When I suggested that we all go to dinner here, it was a unanimous "yes". The dining area consists of booths. Some are large enough to accommodate a large party, while others are two-tops. After looking over the menu, we all knew what we wanted. I decided to try the "catfish platter," which comes with fried catfish, fries, and coleslaw. The fish was perfectly fried, and the coleslaw was mildly flavored with the right amount of dressing. My husband ordered the filet which came with a salad and baked potato. The salad came with a croissant. A signature touch. Our son-in-law had the burger platter. One grandson got shrimp scampi. Another one got an original chicken tender platter, which came with coleslaw, fries, ketchup, and dipping sauces. One got a chicken parm platter. Everybody enjoyed their food. Our grandsons and their Dad thought Charleston's was worth 5 stars, as it was their favorite restaurant during our visit. First of all, Leo, our server was fantastic! I can barely remember what I walked into a room for and he was able to give us all the specials info without reading or stuttering once. I was so impressed because it was a lot!! We honestly came in for the shrimp cargot, which was delish and a great snack between our girls day out fun. Great atmosphere great staff. read more

One of my favorite restaurants! The Reuben is probably one of the best I've ever had. The croissants are incredible as well. I really enjoy the decor as well. Service is usually really well done. Most definitely recommend this place to anybody who's looking for a great meal. read more

We absolutely love Charleston's Restaurant, and it has remained a favorite of ours even after becoming vegetarian--which says a lot about the quality and flexibility of their food. Because of our dietary preferences, we "build" our meal from sides and starters, and Charleston's makes that experience genuinely enjoyable rather than limiting. We typically order glazed carrots, mashed potatoes, a basket of their warm croissants, salads with the garlic dressing (which deserves its own shout-out--OMG, it is AMAZING), and a side of okra. Every item is consistently well-prepared, flavorful, and comforting. What really stands out is how satisfying and intentional this kind of meal feels. Nothing comes across as an afterthought. The sides are rich, well-seasoned, and clearly made with the same care as the main entrées. It's easy to put together a complete, indulgent meal that leaves us full and happy. And if we're feeling up to it, we absolutely add the bread pudding, which is downright delicious and the perfect way to end the meal. We were big fans of Charleston's long before we became vegetarian, and that hasn't changed one bit. The food quality, consistency, and welcoming atmosphere keep us coming back. It's a great reminder that a restaurant doesn't need a massive vegetarian menu to be vegetarian-friendly--it just needs to do the basics exceptionally well. We went here for Christmas dinner with a party of 8. The place was larger than expected and service was great. We had reservations and they had our table ready right on time. The waiter was friendly and accommodating. Food came out timely and was in point for all 8 dishes. I was in town for Giants spring training game. My husband found this amazing restaurant with fantastic customer service and the food was delicious. We've been to this location pretty frequently over the years but we had not been here for a couple of years until tonight. We recommended this restaurant two friends of ours that have never tried Charleston's before. I was pretty excited to introduce some people that have lived in the valley for a while to the restaurant. I was slightly embarrassed by what happened during the course of the meal. Have to say I really wanted to give the restaurant a higher score than a three but when push comes to shove you have to penalize a restaurant when they completely forget about bringing your food out. I would say after we ordered it took a good 35 minutes for the kitchen to send our meals out. At first I thought it was just because it was a little bit busy. We didn't have to wait to get a table when we got there but the restaurant was almost at capacity. But we did notice all the other tables around us were getting their food pretty much in the expected amount of time. Ours was just late. The waiter didn't really have a good answer for why the food didn't come out in the timely fashion either. The waiter did a great job. He was knowledgeable about the menu. The food was actually properly cooked and delicious. I do remember the shrimp cargo having more garlic though. Hate to say it. There's way too many places in this town that we can go eat and not have to wait 35 minutes for our food to come out from the kitchen. Not sure I will be going back to Charleston's in the future. read more

Hubby & I had dinner here last night. We arrived early around 4:30. We were greeted & seated right away. The restaurant was clean & lights were turned down. The booths provided privacy. We ordered our usual, waters, beer & sangria. The drinks came in. timely manner. Our server was attentive. We ordered the shrimp escargot. It was good, but for $16 on the happy hour menu I wouldn't order it again. Hubby ordered the crispy chicken cob salad. I ordered the French dip with fries. We also got a piece of German chocolate cake to go. Hubby's salad was huge. The chicken was excellent! Hubby shared some of his salad & I shared my sandwich. I have never got such tender & non greasy breaded chicken! I wish they had a breaded chicken sandwich. When we come back I will definitely order the crispy chicken salad. It comes with a croissant. I had a bite of it. The croissant was delicious. It was super light & fluffy! Our daughter enjoyed the rest of it & my leftover fries we brought home. The French dip was delicious. The bread is excellent! The bread it french bread, but not like any other French bread we have ever had. It has tons of tender meat on it. I added cheese to the sandwich. My son got the either half of my sandwich I brought home. My hubby, son & I all commented how the bread was so good. We will be back, but not often due to the prices. The customer service was so good, everyone was friendly and kind, server tended to us often, plates were cleared off quickly even by different people than who was waiting on us, there seemed to be a team effort upon all staff members. I don't write too many reviews. Only those that standout one way or the other. We were in neighboring Gilbert to visit and looked at places on Yelp to go to dinner and found nthis place. It was a Friday night and graduation weekend. We were a party of 4. When we walked in, we were greeted and asked if we had a reservation which we did not. The host spoke out 55 which we thought was going to be the wait. He was actually speaking to another worker to seat us at table 55. we were promptly seated. We were soon greeted by our server, Tochi, who too our drink order and told us of specials they had. When she returned, she had our beverages and took our order that had a couple of tweeks to it. While we were waiting, Tochi came by to check on us. Soon our order arrived and was spot on as ordered. One order was split between the wives and they had it already dished as a split. Everything we asked for originally was there. Food was pretty good. Ribs were truly fall off the bone and tender. Beans that came with ribs was very good, I could have eaten a big bowl of those. Soup and salad was good as well. Thing that made this a wonderful experience was the service. Tochi was incredible. She was attentive, polite, prompt, everything you could ask for. I will definitely return. If you go, ask for Tochi to be your server. I looked for manager to leave a positive comment on our departure but couldn't locate one so left it with host. read more

We walked in on a Saturday holiday weekend and were happily surprised that they had availability right away. We appreciated the coasters being under our water glasses without asking for them. We ordered red wine and a peach margarita and both were good. The shrimp scampi had a fair amount of shrimp on it which was much appreciated. It was an all around yummy dish and I liked the hint of red pepper flakes. The bread it came with was good as well and soft with great garlic flavor. The meatloaf was tasty, but room temperature. The mashed potatoes were a perfect amount of garlicky and the texture was smooth with a few lumps. There were no complaints with the fried okra. We really enjoyed our server as she was aware and attentive to us. She asked us if everything was good and she could tell our response was uncertain and she asked us if we were sure (the temp of the meatloaf). The ambiance was nice from the decor to the lighting to the layout of the restaurant. I would come back again. read more

If I wanted a side salad it would have been an additional $10. Seriously?? Several options for a side but no side salad without paying $10.
