6/6/26: Holy mackerel, what a treat! We applaud the staff at The Gilbert House for giving us such a great experience, and highly recommend it. Parking: it looks to be severely limited but there is so much more parking to the east we had no problem finding a spot. Cocktails: boozy. :-) We ordered the Wake Up Call sans espresso, plus the brunch punch. I had to ask for an extra shot of cream because drinking so much bourbon & rum on an empty stomach got me a little fuzzy in the head. LOL! Never fear, the wonderful food soaked up the booze, the amount of water I downed helped, AND we walked around the area, as well as visiting the book store next door. Food: caramel roll, caprese omelet, California benedict. 100% delectable. Nothing was left on our plates. We would have licked them off if so many people weren't surrounding us, enjoying their meals. Ha ha! Staff: the ebullient gentleman welcoming us "warned" us about their fresh cinnamon rolls, saying they're large as a head, and though you could eat one alone, you may want to share. He was NOT kidding & yeah, we shared. Our server, Olivia, was so happy and chatty, she was extremely pleasant & attentive. We never felt neglected or ignored. We were so excited to try Gilbert House but our experience today was crazy. We had 6 people in our party, so of course I made a reservation knowing it's a small, popular place. They called the day before to confirm, and then asked if we'd prefer inside or out, I requested inside. We arrived right on time to check in, and were told there was no table available inside, and that outside would be available in 10-15 minutes "maybe". I asked how long to wait for inside and she said - I kid you not, "15-20 minutes maybe. But that could change at any minute, but people might not leave, it could be more or less but there is no way to know." ...insane response lol. I asked why a reservation was even an option when it clearly wasn't and she said, "yeah that's why I'm telling you there's nothing inside so it will be like 15 minutes." Only maybe though, apparently?? I got the table ready text only 10 minutes later which wouldn't have been a problem, unfortunately the hostess made it seem like it was 50/50 if we'd get sat at all, so we were already gone. 6/23/26 My Tuesday ladies lunch group of 5 chose this restaurant on Tues 6/16. When we chose it their listed hours were 7am-2pm. Apparently they switched to summer hours recently & now it closes at 1pm. It's a Women owned restaurant inside an olde cute building with 4 small rooms inside for dining. The food was good & our waitress was sweet but they really should provide a carafe of water on the table &/or provide larger water glasses. One of us almost always had an empty glass. We only saw 2 young ladies working (1 server & 1 waitress). Think with small improvements this would be a solid 4 restaurant. I knocked off 1 start for accessibility issues. There was 1 lady in my party that has a walker but luckily she was able to navigate in & out of the building without any major issues. The Parking & bathrooms are a bit of a walk & may be difficult for someone with disabilities. I only saw 1 handicapped parking space. Plus all but the handicapped space in the parking lot is just sand/gravel. There's only 1 door for customers & it's located at the very front of the building (closest to Gilbert Rd). Know that the ramp to get into the building is quite short & steep. Also, the bathrooms are shared by the buildings in the complex & located in a separate building located behind the restaurant. *The ladies bathroom was clean, had a baby changer, & AC. It has a nice sized patio that runs along the front & side of the building with shade, fans, & misters. Too hot for my group on a 100+ degree day in AZ. Think I'd enjoy sitting in that outdoor space when it's cooler. read more

Gilbert House, what happened? The space has charm, and the girls who work there are super nice and friendly. Our waitress was also fantastic. The food was so bad I had to send it back. Scrambled eggs that were scorched and crumbled, cold store bought sausage. The pancakes were horrible! Doughy and not cooked all the way in the middle, and the worst French toast I ever had. Was such a cute spot for a date with a girlfriend. The old house had so much charm and character. I also loved that the porch was dog friendly, so even your furry family members can join. It's surrounded by adorable local shops, so the whole area makes for such a fun outing. The menu had so many options that it was honestly hard to choose because everything sounded so good. They also had an extensive drink selection, and I loved that they were able to turn one of the drinks into a mocktail for me. It was so refreshing and perfect especially since the Arizona heat is starting to kick in. The staff and service were incredibly sweet, attentive, and accommodating. After we finished eating, we walked around all the nearby shops to check everything out and walk off our food. It turned such a simple lunch date into a memorable little day together. Wonderfully cozy restaurant serving breakfast, brunch and cocktails. We used Yelp to get on the waitlist in advance and we were seated indoors almost immediately. Both the host and server greeted us warmly. If you enjoy sweets you MUST get a cinnamon roll! Since we both wanted a meal for breakfast, we decided to split a cinnamon roll for "dessert", making our calorie count egregious. Glad we did, though - it was served warm and absolutely slathered in creamy icing. Wow! My green chile omelet was delicious too, even though it ended up playing second fiddle to the pastry. Recommendation on the green chili omelet and it was loved by the group, the eggs benedict was great, I also got a chicken salad croissant sandwich to go and was great, as well. Came here for breakfast Christmas Eve and was disappointed in the food. Super cute place and great staff and customer service, but the food didn't cut it. We sat inside and ordered the following: Green Chili Omelette with Chorizo - not sure how it pass quality control, but pretty sure rotten avocado should be a sign not to place on plate. The Gilbert House is known for their Green chili omelets and cinnamon rolls. My boyfriend and I stopped in when he was visiting as I have been wanting to try as I love green chili and cinnamon rolls. It was a rainy weekend, but they were able to give us a seat inside as I wanted to see the interior. Old style house with tea time decor. Very cute, but quaint so you definitely felt cozy next to other tables. Next visit, I'd probably choose the patio for a little more me space. Our server was super friendly and offered suggestions/answered questions. We didn't catch her name, but the receipt said Allison. Appreciate the great service and even assisting when I spilled the little container of creamer. Always get embarrassed when things like that happen, but she was super understanding and brought over new silverware and napkins. As for the food, I wanted to love it but a few items fell short in our opinion. The cold brew + marshmallow flavoring and cream was my favorite thing of my meal. We ordered the caramel apple cinnamon roll ($7.50) to share to start the meal and we felt the dough was a little tight making it tough (possibly dough overworked and/or not proofed long enough). It could be the batch, so I'd always be willing to try as the center of the roll was delicious. Especially with the fall toppings. For my meal, I ordered the green chili omelet. Some of the elements worked, and others I genuinely questioned. For example, the chunks of cream cheese in the middle seemed strange as they were large resulting in a mouthful of cream cheese with only egg. Additionally, the green chili lacked much flavor or heat. I was disappointed, but must say my boyfriend's blueberry pancakes were fluffy and extremely delicious. We both said we'd return for those. This local breakfast/lunch spot always looks so busy with a lot of people standing outside waiting for a table. I finally had breakfast here with a friend on a Saturday morning. They don't take reservations on weekends (unless it's for their special after hours dinners), but they do have a waitlist on Yelp. I didn't check the waitlist until I parked around 9:20am, and I was 11th in line! The wait was not too bad though for two people - 20 minutes later, I got a text that my table was ready. There is limited parking to the north and south of the restaurant, so plan accordingly. Also, the waitlist says the entire party must be present to be seated - not sure if they enforce that or not. They have a Fall menu right now - lots of pumpkin and apple flavors. We shared the Pumpkin Pancakes Shortstack ($9.95) and added a side of Apple Cider Sauce ($1) and Caramel Sauce ($1). We were not told of the additional charges for the sauces. The pancakes had a good amount of pumpkin spice and barely sweet, so it paired nicely with the sugary sauces. The Caramel Apple Cinnamon Roll ($7.50) was pretty good and fluffy, though flatter than I expected. On the Breakfast menu, I got the Buffalo Scramble ($15.95). It's rare to see Buffalo on the menu, so I was curious to try. Both the scramble and hash browns lacked flavor, as if they forgot the salt. The hot sauce bottle on the table was much needed. My friend got the 2 Egg Breakfast ($12.50), and she also had to add salt to her dish. We enjoyed having breakfast on the patio in cooler temps after it had just rained that morning. Our waitress, Julia, was really personable and attentive. Overall, the experience was pretty good, but I think I would only come back for the sweet menu items. read more

I have a problem. I LOVE breakfast food options...like loooove them! My problem is that I never make time to eat breakfast when the food is fresh and when the really good breakfast places are open. Confession: I should have tasted this place a loooong time ago! First things first, the aesthetics of this place are amazingly charming and give you that "I'm getting a homemade meal from grandma's kitchen" feel. Definitely adds to the experience. I was met immediately by Olivia (amazing!) and given a seat quickly. She walked me through the menu and I sooo wanted to try everything she suggested. I went with the Spicy Chorizo Omelet with a side or Corned Beef Hash (I almost got the Apple Pancakes as well.....next time!). While I waited for my selections, the Owner, Caitlin, came out and checked on me, a huge plus in my book! Without her saying it, you could tell how much passion and pride she has in the legacy she is carrying on and genuinely enjoys and appreciates everyone who stops in to experience her food. I love that! The food was amazing, the staff are amazing and the food is amazing (did I say that already?)! This spot has been on my go to list for a while now and we finally made it for brunch! It's such a cute spot and theres shops nearby as well! Parking is tight, so be wary of that. I enjoyed the omelet (hatch chile) and the seasonal pumpkin French toast! the coffee was amazing as well! We plan to order some from the cave creek roasters! And we even pre-ordered skme pie for Thanksgiving! Definitely add to your brunch list! We dined early so the wait wasn't long for us but I did join the yelp waitlist as well. This past weekend, my husband and I were wanting to get some breakfast inside of cooking at home. We've always driven past The Gilbert House, and decided to come by. I don't know what we expected for a Saturday morning, but it was busy! There is plenty of parking throughout the lot and various other buildings and stores. We got our name put in and was told it would be 30 minutes, so we walked around. We came back 20 minutes later, and some time had passed - it seems they had given our table away when they called my husband's name. They were able to get us seated immediately, and offered to get a high chair for my toddler. We had a very nice server - she was very bubbly and sweet. We decided to sit outside, and it was pretty windy out. They had a basket of blankets in the front for anyone who was cold - that was very nice! We opted out since we were already wearing our own sweaters. As for the food - it was good! Sometimes, simplicity is key, and that is what we wanted. -Homemade cinnamon roll -Blueberry pancakes -Green chili omelet -House made corned beef hash I would absolutely recommend the green chili with chorizo. I didn't order with any meat, but I think it would have rounded out the flavors nicely! You must order the cinnamon roll - it was so tender and sweet. It was great with my house coffee. A Hidden Gem in Gilbert - Highly Recommend! We had the pleasure of dining at The Gilbert House for lunch on a Sunday around 12:30, and it was packed--always a great sign! The restaurant itself is an actual charming house, which adds to its cozy and inviting atmosphere. The outdoor seating is a fantastic option when the weather in Arizona is nice, making for a perfect dining experience. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful--so kind, attentive, and helpful, especially since it was my first time there. She made a great recommendation, and I went with the Southwest Organic Chicken Breast Sandwich with fries and a refreshing tea--it was delicious! Others in our group ordered the cheeseburger, green chili omelet, and BLT, and everyone was more than happy with their meals. Even though they close at 2:00, we ended up staying a little past that time, and the staff remained so friendly and accommodating. That kind of service makes a place even more special! We found this place by pure luck one Saturday after swimming lessons. I was there on Saturday May 16th at 7:am when. you opened. there were 3 of us and we were the 2 group fo guest to be seated. I ordered the Quiche and, another ordered the French Toast, and the 3rd ordered an omelet. I ordered the hash browns crispy and they came almost crispy on one side the other side was raw. They temp of the hash browns were Luke warm at best. The Quiche was only warm in the inside. I t looked like it was left over from the previous day. I asked for it to be warmed up in the microwave and unfortunately it cam back the same temperature. I guess i don't understand how right at opening we were served just warm food instead of hot.????? read more

The property is really cute and we spent some time walking around and looking at the shop. Sadly the book store was closed. Once we were sat, we waited and waited. We started looking up the menu on our phones because none were provided and our server hadn't stopped by at all. The hostess walked by and we asked her to please bring us some menus and she seemed pretty embarassed that the server hadn't come by yet. This was pretty much the theme of the experience; very slow service by a waitress who clearly seemed annoyed to be there. Not enough table settings (napkins and silverware). The kicker was when another server helped bring out the food and gave my nephew my food and insisted it was his. When I asked where my food was (everything else had come out) , the waitress motioned to my nephew And said "he took your plate". Whoa whoa whoa! Absolutely Ridiculous. Sad thing is, the good really was good, but the service was bad. We all kind of got a bad taste in our mouths and probably don't be coming back. read more

Made a reservation a month prior. Got there 5 minutes before our reservation and found out they gave away our table to a different party. I get it accidents happen but still annoying to sit out in the heat for an extra 25 minutes waiting for another table to open up. We got sat and told it was buffet only which wasn't mentioned on the reservation and then nobody told us the prices of the buffet until we got the check. Ended up being $30 per person for hotel breakfast level food. Server was nice and attentive but they add on an automatic 20% gratuity to the check. Normally I tip 20% anyways but I prefer to do that myself. Gives a bad taste when restaurants just expect a tip like that. It's a cute place and I'm happy to support a small business but I'm not sure I'll be back to this one. read more

I've driven by this place dozens of times and always wanted to stop in but never did. Luckily a friend finally suggested it for brunch and I got to give it a go. It was a little hot and a majority of their seating is outdoors so that was a bummer for me as someone who doesn't do heat well, but they have huge umbrellas and do their best. They also have fans to deal with flys and such which worked the first time we went but not our most recent experience. Outside of Mother Nature though, this place is a gem. The food is so fresh, the service is so good and the drinks are excellent. My California Benedict was perfectly cooked (poached eggs and all) and had the best avocado. The only issue was the hollandaise sauce was not completely warm so it got a bit thick. The same can be said for the butter on the cinnamon roll which made it feel incomplete so I would go without that next time. My husband and I decided to give this Gilbert House Restaurant a try and we are so glad we did. We sat outside in the covered patio area and the weather was very forgiving for once. The food was amazing. Probably one of the best blueberry pancakes we have experienced. We also tried the California Benedict, also yummy and the coffee and Orchard Hug was delicious. This place is very cute, you feel like you're in a small town somewhere. The white picket fence and the whole vibe is cute cottage / old hotel renovated to be a restaurant with little surrounding shops! The service was great, very friendly and attentive, I had the Gilbert burger with fries and my husband had the eggs Benedict with hash browns and we paired our meals with the Gilbert house brunch punch ( vodka, champagne, strawberries, raspberries and mint) and a lemonosa ( champagne, lemonade and strawberries).
