Peruvian Braised Beef and Smashed Gold Potato
    Joyce J.

Back again. Peruvian Braised Beef (double meat portion) - delicious, again. Tried the smashed potatoes for the first time - soooo smooth and yummy! And you know I had to get my lemon muffin and strawberry muffin for desert - still moist, still delicious! The guy bringing out all the meals was the absolute best. So sweet and joyful. Made the experience even better! I'll be back!

I've been a few times and have loved it every time. Today I got poke bowl which was honestly so Yummy and so good with a lot of flavor. Would definitely get it again!

Wow! This is one of my favorite entrees I've had here! The "Forbidden rice" bowl at $11.95 delivered in flavor and in quantity! I'm not vegetarian or vegan but I would gladly order this bowl again! A colorful mix of seasoned snap pea, bok choy, broccoli, carrot, onion, toasted sesame, red chili hoisin on a mix of black pearl and red japonica rice. I'm drawn to the combination of vegetables especially on the red Japonica rice. This nutty flavored, pale pink, medium grain rice (also know as Bhutanese Red Rice) has a slight chewy texture which I love. This dish tasted fresh was perfectly cooked and served hot at our table. Service was good and we timed it right by arriving at 11:40 before the lunch crowd came and filled all the seats. To end the meal we each purchased their chocolate chip cashew cookie. I buy this every visit and it is still awesome when baked fresh that day!

This was not the first time I have been to Flower Child. It's one of those places that I'll go if somebody else wants to, but I'll never choose it myself. I know my opinion is probably unpopular because it seems like everybody loves Flower Child, but it's not really my cup of tea. I fully understand, though, that that's just me. I do have some weird food issues. I will say this place is so bright and airy and just lovely. I love the paned windows that look out onto the patio, the very high ceilings, and the brown rattan lighting fixtures. Even though the space is quite large, it's extremely inviting. That said, it's a great place for something healthy. I feel like you can't go wrong with any of the choices if you're trying to eat well. My friends lunch looked much better than what I had. I had the Flying Avocado Wrap, and I didn't love it. In fact I didn't finish even half of it - - I took it home and my son ate it. I think it's the bread I don't like, and anyone who knows me knows I can be really picky. Will I come back? Probably. When I have lunch with somebody else who wants to come here, I won't have a problem with it. I would really like to try the forbidden Rice that my friend had. But I'm not likely to ever swing by here on my own.

You can never go wrong with Flower Child! The food is always yummy and service is great! My go to is always the salmon entree with mashed potatoes and a vegetable of some sort. This last visit I ordered broccoli and it was SOOOOOO GOOD. It was flavorful and had a nice crisp to it. The employee who brought us our food was very cheerful and nice.

My go to is always the steak, mac and cheese, and veggies! You can never go wrong with this combination! The steak is always cooked perfectly, flavorful, and its always juicy. The mac and cheese is heaven sent and veggies are always crisp. Service is great. There is typically a line out the door but it definitely worth the wait!

Management reached out to me about my concerns regarding my recent visit. I really appreciated the email and the lack of excuses for what I encountered at the store. She was listened and hopefully there will be more staff training on customer service and food safety. We gave it another chance, but not the same store, and had a much better experience.

If you're looking for a healthy-ish spot that still feels fun and social, Flower Child is a great addition to the rotation. The atmosphere is upbeat, bright, and welcoming with a really good energy whether you're stopping in for lunch, dinner, or meeting up with a larger group. The setup works especially well for groups since there's plenty of seating and the ordering process keeps things moving even when it's busy. One thing they do very well is efficiency without losing hospitality. They have both a dine-in ordering counter and a dedicated to-go counter, which seems necessary because this place stays packed. Even during busy times, the staff stays friendly, attentive, and organized. You can tell there's real attention paid to each order and that management understands how to run a smooth restaurant operation. The menu has a lot of solid choices whether you want something lighter, comforting, vegetarian, or protein-packed. Portions were satisfying, and the broccoli deserves its own mention -- somehow simple but absolutely addictive. My only real note is that pricing feels a little high for an order-at-the-counter style restaurant. That said, the quality, atmosphere, and overall experience do make it easier to justify once in a while.

Great restaurant for a healthy clean boujee meal. I love making my own steak bowl with broccoli and corn and quinoa. It's definitely a little pricier but so good when you're craving it.

Flower child is a vibe! If you're looking for a healthier option, this place is just it! Quality ingredients. It does get crowded so plan accordingly. Service was great, they were attentive with seating us when it was crowded

I ordered a steak plate with carrots and grilled asparagus. I was given burnt black carrots that were completely inedible. I don't know where the grilled asparagus was either. I can't believe an employee thought that it was acceptable to serve this. Completely unacceptable.

I was looking for a new lunch spot to try and catch up with a friend and Flower Child did not disappoint! The restaurant is very pretty and aesthetic looking, perfect for a girls lunch (my favorite!). Not only was it pretty, but the food was delicious! I was craving something fresh and lemony so I decided to try their black bean falafel wrap- not something I would typically get but it has now become one of my favorite wraps! I usually crave a meat source of protein but the black bean falafel was perfect! The service was great, the line was a bit long but the cashiers kept it moving quickly! I had a few questions and the young girl who took my order was very nice and helpful. Once we sat down, the waiter brought out our food and came back a few other times to make sure we weren't missing anything or if we needed anything. We decided to sit outside since the inside was pretty full. They have great misters that kept us cool for the long time we were there in the middle of the summer day. I'll definitely be back here :)

Mashed potatoes & salmon. Though I had already finished the salmon. It was absolutely delicious.

The food here is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the salmon & mashed potatoes. Also do the outside seating if possible.

My son said it may have been the best steak tartare he's ever had (although neither of us was a fan of the plantain chips). It was certainly the best tartare I've had in a very long time, with generous chunks of high-quality steak instead of being overly minced. The baked brie dip was outstanding, the grilled oysters were excellent, and my New York strip was cooked perfectly. My only small criticism is that the oyster appetizer came with just three oysters. For a $19 appetizer, I'd love to see at least four. An even number also makes sharing much easier, although my son generously let me have the extra one! Overall, this is a fantastic concept with great food, great service, and a memorable atmosphere. We can't wait to come back.

We called about half hour before and made a reservation by phone. I was disappointed that my first order choice of the Seabass was unavailable and my second choice of lamb chops was also unavailable. Not sure if this is because it was a Sunday night and/or we made the reservation immediately before showing up. They were also out of the Melted Cast-Iron Brie Small Plate that we were excited about ordering for the table. We loved this restaurant because of the dark and jungle-themed interior. We were excited to see the bold taxidermy featuring the large cats combined with the ornate, gold- framed dapper animal art hanging on the walls. Another reason to love this spot: hidden inside is an entrance to a secret cocktail lounge, or speakeasy, called "Drop Dead Gorgeous." We also appreciated the entire restaurant centering around a glowing, raw wood-fire cooking pit. We could hear and watch our entrées being prepared. What we didn't love so much: the items that we would've liked to have ordered were unavailable. The price to portion ratio in the small bites could also be improved a bit. Great service from our waitress throughout the evening. We ordered: - Fire Roasted Bone Marrow for the table (3/5) - sourdough toast, jalapeño marmalade with demi. I was so excited to try bone marrow for the first time. It was interesting. Sort of like a mix between butter and fat from a steak. It tasted really good with the spicy jalapeño jelly and bread provided. I expected us to be warm and it came out cold. Still not sure if I like it or not. Maybe I'll give it a second try - White Oak Grilled Chicken Skewers (4/5) - served with shiso leaves, kimchi, shishito peppers. kosho aioli, lemon aioli, ssamjung for the table - Very yummy. We enjoyed these. We had actually changed our mind right after initially putting in the milk bread order for the table and they brought out the milk bread so quickly that our waitress said she would give this to us on the house. - Milk Bread for the table (4/5) - miso tomato butter, almond & Kalamata. Even though we changed our mind and got this sent to our table accidentally, I would order this again. It was very delicious and it comes out as an adorable little tomato shaped and colored milk bread with the toppings looking like the stem on top. So tasty and everybody loved it. A little small for our party of five. - Lemongrass Half Chicken (5/5) - Caramelized carrots, kyoto roasted garlic, mashed potatoes & jalapeno jam. Hubs loved this. He said everything was delicious and went well together. - Bomba Rice x2 (5/5) - Risotto, shrimp, linguica, chicken, piquillo peppers, green peas, kosher aioli & Parmesan. My son and his girlfriend both ordered this and said it was very good. - Shishito Caesar Salad add Chicken Skewers (5/5) - bonito, charred shishito peppers, ricotta salata, tapioca chicharron & togarashi. My daughter ordered this and said it was very good. - Spicy Peanut & Tomato Salad add Chicken Skewers (5/5) - peanut dressing, heirloom tomato, baby gem, daikon radish, onion, mala chile, whipped queso de cabra & sour nut. YUMMMM What a creative and unique salad! So glad I tried it. It has unique flavors that work well with each other and a crunch. There's also some heat that goes along with the salad. I was able to withstand it. My son would probably say it's not spicy at all. I'll be craving this salad for months to come. - Dad or Daddy Specialty Cocktail - bright, buzzed & stoned vodka, apricot liqueur, Riesling cordial, ginger, lime, topped with Red Bull Peach Edition (White Peach) - Fruity Mocktail - I asked the waitress if they had any mocktails and she asked me what I liked and gave me examples. Based on what I told her she brought me out a delicious fruity mocktail topped with fresh mint. Parking along the street at metered parking or in parking garage nearby. A few streets away from Tempe Town Lake.

He was on top of the food descriptions. The vibe is great. Love the color scheme, the red banquets all around are cute and we liked sitting at the tables with the little so far chair seats. Manager stopped by and checked how things were. I don't drink so I consistently search out an ACTUAL mocktail menu that has some intention in it and isn't just a classic virgin mule/mojito. I had the grapefruit mocktail, yum, and presentation was lovely, it was refreshing. We got the wagyu pigs in a blanket, the white truffle deviled eggs, and the bacon wrapped shrimp. They hit it all out of the park. It was exactly what it should be and then some and we enjoyed every last bite. It was quiet as it was the end of a Monday night but server was still attentive but not overly attentive. The food was great and Cole's personality brought it all together nicely. Looking forward to coming back to try some burgers or entrees, see some music, and my boyfriend is gonna get the beer in a bag next time. We signed up for their rewards program on this visit. This is a go to spot for my boyfriend but I'd never been here. Good times for sure.

I ordered the Asian salad, and it was absolutely delicious. It was packed with flavor, fresh, and the portion size was just right. The restaurant itself is huge, with plenty of seating and a spacious, comfortable atmosphere. The service was great as well. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our visit. My only real criticism is that the menu felt a bit limited, especially for vegetarians. There weren't many vegetarian options available, which could make it difficult for some people to find something that appeals to them. That said, the food was great, the service was excellent, the pricing was fair, and the overall experience was very enjoyable. I would definitely return the next time I'm in Arizona.

As a health food vegan, I am always on the lookout for food like this: whole foods/plant-based, including some oil-free options. Their whole menu reads like a list of my favorite food buzzwords: buckwheat, lentil cauliflower scramble, sunflower seed meat, local fermented sauerkraut, freshly milled Sonoran wheat; tempeh, sourdough, homemade seeded bread, homemade cashew milk, etc. etc. It was legitimately hard to decide what to get. I went with the baked(!) strawberry banana oat buckwheat pancakes. Super tasty, and a generous portion. I also couldn't resist an oil-free sunbutter cookie (with its wacky bluegreen tinge that was apparently from the sunflower seeds) and also loved the cold brew coffee with cashew milk.

It is a little pricey, however, it's worth the cost. As I mentioned, everything is healthy and made fresh. You can't get that without paying a bit extra Their bread is so good, the chutney is awesome, their little side salads are so tasty. I haven't tried anything here that I have not loved. They are a small husband and wife run business, which is always great to see. They are very friendly people who clearly love what they do. There's limited seating indoors, as it's inside Barnone, but you can easily find places to sit outdoors as well.
