First ever review, have watched this restaurant since opened to see if would take off or be another establishment on this corner to come and go. Finally went and tried out this morning because hearing the vibe and has been getting more busy as drive by. A great breakfast at a clean and friendly place!! Great portion and great food! My 21 year old son said he will be back next week. My wife had an issue with what she ordered and they were on it and took care of it quick and made her happy! From the moment we walked through the door the wait staff was attentive and helpful. My wife and I take my elderly parents out to new breakfast places every Thursday. We have been tracking and rating each one for our own records. This is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review online. I asked my dad how many stars we should give it. The fresh quality of ingredients is impossible not to notice! I got steak and eggs- the steak was a great size was thicker than other places I've tried, easy to cut and cooked just right. I tried Syrup & Salt on a whim, due to its ratings. The main thing about the restaurant is that everything is Halal - meaning, cooked cleanly and ethically with no cross-contamination. (For my kosher Jewish friends, this could be a great place to eat!) The restaurant is very clean and spacious with a lot of tables. The food was truly good and very fresh. The eggs were fluffy, and the all-meat bacon was extremely crisp. The French toast was amazing, and I did get a cinnamon roll to go. It looks good as well. The restaurant is in a strip mall, so there is a lot of parking. The weight staff was really nice. I would definitely come here again. read more

We were seated and after 10 min had to ask who our server was. The hostess said she would find out but was nice enough to take our drink order. She forgot the OJ and the extra ice and lemons but got it for us. More people came in and servers went to their tables still no server to our table. We asked the hostess again and she went and told the manager. A server came 5 min later without any apology for the delay. We ordered and asked for a side of biscuit and gravy to come out first. 10 minutes later our food arrived delivered by the manager and another server but no biscuits and gravy. We told the manager who was delivering the food and she apologized and went and got it. For a place called syrup and salt . I then had to ask for syrup for my French toast because that was not given. I had to flag down someone each time to fill my coffee. And the other 2 drinks had to be asked as well. This should be a standard process for refills. One other thing to note is it is not pork bacon but beef bacon and does not bite the same as pork bacon. Overall, the food was really good and this place could be a hit if they fixed the service issue and getting what you ordered out correctly. Finally made it by this neighborhood spot in Mesa. Where they serve fresh quality food out of their scratch kitchen. This one took me right back to my old neighborhood. I grew up in. The service was great. The dining room is spacious and open. Food portions are generous for the cost that you're paying. I went with the chicken fried chicken and that was by far the best chicken fried chicken I have had in a long time. It's crispy, seasoned well, the chicken breast is still nice and juicy. The eggs were fluffy, the hashbrowns were crispy and it's served with a side of the most delicious buttery buttermilk pancakes. You don't want to skip out on this one. I also tried the burger plate. I had such a great experience at Syrup & Salt! It's such a cute, family-style spot with a warm and welcoming vibe. Even on Easter Sunday after church, it wasn't too crowded and we were able to get a table right away, which I really appreciated. Our server was amazing! very attentive, friendly, and he made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The service really elevated the whole experience. I ordered the lamb chops egg breakfast with hashbrowns, apple cinnamon pancakes, and chicken sausage, and my niece got the cookie butter waffle with a side of beef bacon. Everything was delicious! The lamb chops were especially tender and cooked really well. I do wish they had just a little more seasoning, but they were still very enjoyable overall. Also definitely get their flavored tea! So good and a perfect addition to the meal. As someone with a pork allergy, I really appreciate that they are halal-certified. My family came on a Sunday morning around 11ish, it was a one hour wait and I can say the wait was worth it. Food came out fairly quick, server was attentive and helpful, and food was good. Nothing too special but it was good. Chicken sausage I've never had which actually tasted better than the beef bacon in my opinion. We will visit again in the near future! read more

1st timer like most of the people since it opened up like 3 months. It's halal which I didn't understand what that meant, now I do nothing to do with Pork. Beef bacon never had it. I ordered chicken fried steak with gravy on a 1-5 rating I'd give it a 2 the meat had gristle running through it otherwise it was tender. The breading fell off as soon as you cut it. Scrambled eggs were over cooked and cold when it was served. Country potatoes were good. Coffee was good. It was very loud in their echoey gonna wear earplugs next time. Service was OK coffee cup was empty two or three times before I flagged someone down to get more that could improve, but they were really busy but that should make a difference. Tried this new place due to excellent yelp reviews. Large, clean open dining area. At 5pm a couple of tables occupied. My wife ordered an omelette with frennch fries, and I asked for the chicken fried steak breakfast. Wife enjoyed her omelette, and the fries were very good. I think that maybe on a less busy day our experience would have been better... we were told a 20-30 minute wait and ended up waiting an hour at least. I know new businesses can have some disorganization at first, so take this experience with a grain of salt. I ordered a pancake, bacon, and egg breakfast with the pancakes substituted for chocolate chips. It was ok, lots of chocolate syrup on it kind of was too much but still good. It took a while to get our food but they were busy. Our food wasn't warm when we got it though so that was disappointing. The service was kind of spotty but nice for the most part. I will say, I was asked if I was done with one of my plates, and I said yes so she took it but then she went behind me and grabbed my other pancake and was gone before I could even say anything. I was a little sad as it was 4$ extra to get this substituted pancake and I was going to get a box but never got the chance... it was pricy. Heard about this new halal restaurant and wanted to try it out. We came here on Sunday afternoon between lunch and dinner and there weren't too many people dining at that time. Our waiter seated us against the wall, which I like, and gave us our menus. I knew what I wanted since I had looked at the menu beforehand, but still went through it to make sure. We all got waters and put in our orders. I got their jalapeño burger with fries, and my companions ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and the chicken mushroom crepes. Our food did take some time to come out but that's personally not an issue for me. My burger was a good size and had lots of jalapeños on it, hence the name. The peppers were spicy, too! I made use of the salt and ketchup at the table to add to my meal. I don't think I'd tried beef bacon before and it was good, smelled similar to the pork version and tasted fatty and flavorful. The fries were tasty as well, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I tried the chicken sandwich and crepe, the buffalo sauce was strong which I liked and the crepe was light. Our server was friendly and checked in on us, as well as the manager/owner. I'd love to come back earlier in the day for their breakfast dishes! So many options to choose from on their menu - most everyone is bound to find something they like (not many vegan dishes). We ordered the chicken fried steak and the mushroom Swiss burger. Both were delicious. I was very happy I was trying my dish with gravy, something I normally cannot have because it is mainly made with bacon. The place is trendy, service is excellent and place is clean. I was looking forward to visiting this Halal restaurant. So decided to visit with my siblings while in Mesa. Location was open with plenty of seating. The aesthetic inside was very minimal and clean. Service was the only thing I found a little lacking. They seemed to only have 1 server and the food took a little longer than I would have hoped. However, the food was delightful and made up for any lacking service. I ended up having the Chicken Florentine Crepe. It was delicious. My siblings had burgers so I got to try those too. We drove 40 minutes after a hike in Scottsdale just to try this place because it's one of the only spots I could find that serves beef bacon--and it did not disappoint. I no longer eat pork, and honestly, beef bacon is so much better anyway. I kept it simple with an egg plate, beef bacon, chicken sausage, and hash browns, and upgraded to the banana pancakes--which were absolutely divine. Everything was cooked perfectly. I can't say enough good things about this spot. It's rare to find a Halal breakfast place open all day that treats every dish with this much care. We started with the beef bacon, which was cooked to perfection--excellent flavor and texture. If you have a sweet tooth, the cookie butter pancakes are an absolute must; they were awesome. But the real curveball was the burger. I honestly think it was one of the best burgers I've ever had--I'm still thinking about how good it was! I live just around the corner from this restaurant and had been anxiously awaiting the opening. Driving by, I presumed that this would be breakfast and lunch. I'm not sure why I would think that since it clearly says on the sign breakfast lunch and dinner. We came for dinner. This is a halal place. If you don't know, halal is food permissible by Muslim law. it is kind of like the Muslim version of kosher. There or plenty of items to choose from the menu - - I think the only thing that wasn't on there was pork. It does list beef bacon. The dining room is bright with lots of tables and a view into the kitchen - - I always like that. On one wall is the whole explanation of what halal is. It's very interesting and I'm glad it's there to give the information for people who don't know. We were seated immediately and our server came out right away. There are no cocktails here as alcohol is not halal. We ordered: *Smothered chicken breast with french fries and broccoli *Grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus *Lamb chops (4) with mashed potatoes and asparagus All females came with two big pieces of garlic bread. The smothered chicken was delicious - - a boneless chicken breast covered in peppers, onions, mushrooms and gravy and talk to Swiss cheese. The fries are nice and crispy and seasoned well. The salmon and lamb chops were also yummy. The lamb chops were tender enough that I was able to cut them with a better knife. The mashed potatoes were also good - - it looks like they might have been made from red potatoes but I'm not sure. Either way, they were really good. I really hope this place sticks around for a long time. I'm not sure how many halal places there are in Mesa, but it would be good to have them around for people who require that kind of food. personally, I'm just looking forward to having a place with good food close to home. read more

Hash browns were perfectly crispy, eggs just how I ordered, chicken fried steak was huge, right amount of breading and nice and crispy. Coffee was wonderful. Love the farm to table concept to make all the traditional comfort food we love. They were busy because of the holiday, but it did not impact their amazing service. Nathan was great. My husband and I tried Syrup and Salt for breakfast this morning and it was so good. It's located in a small strip mall, but once you walk in it completely opens up--super clean, modern, and really welcoming. I also love that it's a fully halal restaurant, which makes it feel even more inclusive. The menu has a ton of options since they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so there's plenty to come back and try. I ordered the strawberry and banana French toast and appreciated that they asked if I wanted strawberry compote or fresh strawberries (I went with fresh). The French toast had the perfect texture--slightly crisp on the outside but soft and custardy on the inside. It was so good it honestly didn't even need syrup. My husband got the cinnamon apple French toast. It usually comes with ice cream, but we swapped it for whipped cream and it was perfect. The portion size was generous (6 slices!) and just as delicious. Service was top notch as well. We were seated right away, and even as it started to get busier while we were leaving, everything stayed smooth. Our server was kind, attentive, and made the experience even better. Everything tasted fresh, the portions were great, and the overall experience was easy and enjoyable. We were greeted right away and seated. Place looked very roomy and well lit. Very clean in appearance. Our waitress was very attentive and took our drink order and gave us time to look at the menu. I ordered chx and waffle and husband order basic breakfast, eggs, has brown and chx sausage, plus pancakes. His breakfast was as it should be. My chicken was huge and heavily breaded. It was a huge serving. The chx and waffle was very tasty and chx was seasoned well. I did leave a lot of the breading on the plate. The lunch/dinner menu also looked good. The egg white omelette was good, they confirmed if I was good with Berries as that was the fruit option instead of potatoes (my request). I asked to try the crepes, really only wanted one but they did only charge me a smaller upgrade charge versus the full cost of the crepe dish and they gave me two crepes. The strawberries were great but something about the cream didn't work for me. I had the husband try it and he said it was fine. He had the chicken and waffle and like many an influencer has said (that is what brought us there), the chicken was a flattened chicken breast, tender but the breading did flake off a lot. We visited Syrup & Salt for our monthly book club meeting. I had never heard of it, but another in our group said they had recently gone viral for their food and being a Halal restaurant. They do not take reservations or do call ahead seating, which I feel is a miss. Our friend who organized this month arrived early to ensure we had a table for 5 when others arrived. We were greeted quickly but that's where the service stopped. The rest of our time it seemed we were searching for our server, even after our plates had been cleared and we were ready to leave. They were busy, but also seemed to have plenty of staff so I'm not sure why service was so slow. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. I personally ordered the All In Breakfast that came with 2 eggs, hashbrowns, 2 bacon, 2 chicken sausage and 2 pancakes. Being a Halal restaurant means no pork and I was excited to try beef bacon, so ordered my meal Al bacon. It's super good! However unfortunately my food came out cold. I did not alert my server or ask for anything to be corrected. We had movie tickets for after brunch so just kept my plate as served. Idk that I would be back to Syrup & Salt.
