East coast oysters and one scallop. Not bad!
    Sylvia C.

I was in search of some fresh East Coast oysters and decided to give high tide a try. I've been here before, but I hadn't tried the oysters. Two weeks ago I had some of the best East Coast oysters while I was in Chicago! These oysters were OK, but they did not serve it with Tabasco and the mignonette was just OK. I also got a scallop with some caviar on it. Again, both were OK but I've had better. I did do the oyster shooter and that was absolutely disgusting! I did it with vodka, but you had your choice of vodka or tequila. The service was good though, but my hunt continues for some really good and fresh East Coast oysters with the proper condiments!

I would definitely recommend this place. We stoped in for lunch and were not disappointed. Oddly enough I would recommend the fried chicken. We also had fish and chips, fried shrimp and a calamari appetizer. The service was excellent and very tentative to our table. She was very friendly without being rude or pushy. The environment was very nice and quiet with an open floor plan.

    Empty glasses.

Happy hour menu is now disappointing. Service has declined significantly. High Tide use to be a regular for us but HH menu has changed and service declined.

I've been coming to High Tide for many years. The food is always superb and service has always been great as well. Tonight I had the shrimp boil which was a VIP dinner special and sat at the bar, which I've done many times before. Usually the guys behind the bar are good about interacting with the customers but not tonight. The barely even looked at you, that's so sad. I love to interact with the people behind the bar. Service tonight was subpar. Took too long for a wait person to come over. In fact not a soul even greeted me!! The food was fantastic but my wait person never came over to check on me. My boil was to come with crusty bread but didn't until I finally got the attention of one of the guys behind the bar to have my waitress bring it over. Love the food but the bar service could have been much better

The clam chowder and lobster bisque is the best! I have traveled for work to various ocean side restaurants and the soups here are better! When they first opened, they used to put a fresh cooked clam on top of the soup. I miss that nice touch that really elevated the restaurant. We love the calamari and wings here and get it every time. Also, we tried the cheesy crab garlic bread and they were soo good if you are a fan of crab. You can't go wrong with the sandwiches here. If you love salmon, you need to try their salmon BLT sandwich! The service here was good. Highly recommend making reservations.

I only have come here for happy hour but it's one of the best ones in the eat valley! Amazing food and drinks on their happy hour menu and it's daily 3-6! Highly recommend! The environment is super nice and the bar is amazing! And I almost forgot our amazing server ASHLEY! She's half the reason we are back again !!

Giving High Tide 4 stars for the total experience. I had had the Cioppino, which was loaded with flavor and plenty of sea food. I believe adding rice to this dish would've blown the doors of the place. Wifey had fish and chips, her feedback was the fish had too batter to really enjoy the dish. Our waitress was amazing and was on point and very knowledgeable about specials, recommendations we were interested in and drinks. I'm pesca-vegan so my options were somewhat limited, however I found a dish that I really enjoyed.

We gave this place a second chance after having a not so great experience. It looked like they had a really good happy hour which is why we decided to come back. I didn't have high expectations for the sushi since this isn't a Japanese restaurant but we tried it anyways. I'd compare it to grocery store sushi. The lobster Mac was pretty decent. The mussels dish was pretty bland. I just wasn't a fan of the food overall.

Hubby & I had dinner here again last night. We sat in the bar area again. It was very busy. Thus time service was slow. It took awhile for our server to come to the table. It took awhile to get our drinks & place our food order as well. We ordered the bread again. It was good. We also got the potstickers & a California roll. Hubby had the chicken wings & a side of fries. I had a bowl of the lobster bisque. The potstickers were good, but the sauce was not. It seemed to be just soy sauce with some sesame seeds in it. The soy sauce was extremely salty. The sauce needs to be good for potstickers for us. The California roll was okay. They were small & again the soy sauce was way too salty. I couldn't even eat it. The chicken wings were not what hubby expected. They were huge. They were crispy but tender. The sauce was not good & it was also runny. The fires were good. They were crispy. For $13 for a side of fries, they should be good. The lobster bisque was good as always, but it wasn't hot. We didn't see our server again after runners bro us are food until we were done eating. We will give the place a break for a while. We expect better service & food for $107 before tip.

Who says you can't find good seafood in the valley? High Tide delivers every time! We visited for a friend's birthday and had reservations and our table was ready for us. Ambiance is sea themed without being over the top. Classy and understated. We ordered a few appetizers for the table: Lobster Mac & Cheese - order it! Crab Cake - order it! We also loved the fried avocado that is plated along side. Calamari - order it! I've been to High Tide a couple times before and love the Chilean Sea Bass, but the special got me hooked! It was Herb Crusted Atlantic Black Bass served with Crab Risotto, long steamed artichoke and lemon caper sauce. Y'all I was in HEAVEN. The fish was cooked perfectly and had a nice outside crunch with the nut coating. The crab risotto was amazing and all paired well with the lemon caper sauce. Definitely would recommend! Birthday dessert was their bread pudding. I'm not overly a bread pudding fan, but had a bite as it went around the table and it was really delicious!

We've eaten here several times after Saturday night church. The service is always really good. Most entrees we have tried have been very good. Today we tried the Baja Covina Sea Bass which was good but it was a little overcooked and a little sweeter than I expected. But, it's always fun to try new dishes. Don ordered the blackened redfish with garlic green beans and he switched out for the risotto. His meal was so flavorful without too much spice kick. We will both add this dish into the rotation. We love the atmosphere and the music level is nice as you can have a conversation at your table.

Amazing service and food. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu but definitely try the fried chicken.

3.8/5 (main dishes were ok , we enjoyed the appetizers and desserts more). Great service. Our waitress was great in recommending some items e.g calamari vs ceviche. Ambience was a bit dark but there were nice large booths and more intimate dining. Our waitress let us taste the ceviche (2/5) which was more of a Baja (sweet) .. and we were glad because it was not enjoyable for our palate. Calamari 4/5 and warm sourdough bread 5/5 (which is normally complimentary in other restaurants weird) was great. Gumbo 3/5 was not good lacking the seafood unami flavor. Shrimp scamp 4/5 was surprisingly good not heavy butter but more broth perfect juicy shrimp and al dente noodles. Steak(4/5) was tender and fries nice and crispy. Chilean Seabass (3/5) while I love seabass the sauce just didn't highlight this amazing fish but retracted it by being too heavy , the risotto was nicely cooked RESTAURANT WEEK - 4/5 appetizer shrimp with roasted eggplant goat cheese n peppers was good - 2/5 seafood stuffed manicotti was WAY rich with no acid to balance the heavy cream sauce - 5/5 blonde brownie with espresso ice cream was so good! Cocktails were good (old fashion and seasonal old fashion). Key lime(5/5) pie was yummy! Oh yeah make sure to make reservations via Opentable!

I wrapped things up with the Macadamia Nut Piña Colada which, fittingly for being "aboard" a pirate ship, was delightfully rum-forward without being overly sweet. In between cocktails, we shared a couple of snacks that were such a welcome addition -- something you sadly don't always find at local speakeasies! Thank goodness my friend receives the emails and let me know ahead of time what to say. You enter down a long hallway and wait at a bookcase that opens. It kind of feels like forever because there's nowhere to go and could create a little bit of potential claustrophobia/panic for people who may be sensitive to those types of environments. The drink menu was good but I really wasn't wowed. They did offer three mocktails which wasn't really impressive and the cocktails did include a variety of liquors and flavor profiles but again, wasn't as extensive or interesting as some other speakeasies around town. The food menu was very disappointing - a lot of dairy and bread - pretzels with cheese, flatbread, queso with chips, and "rabbit food" - hummus with bread and vegetables. We asked to have all vegetables instead of bread and they did accommodate with a generous helping of full-size rainbow carrots and cherry tomatoes. We actually ran out of hummus before we could finish the vegetables. I understand elevated pricing for the aesthetic/experience but I did think the pricing here was a little bit high for what was received.

But, if you're looking for a really cool bar, KWSC is for you. I stopped by on a week day evening around 8:30 p.m. Located in Roosevelt Row, while there isn't parking, I found free parking on the street a few minutes away on foot. Ambiance (4.5/5): My type of spot. Dimly lit with a speakeasy vibe. There are eight or so seats at the bar, and the rest of your seating options consist of comfortable chairs and sofas. You'll see a lot of photos of people's bums on the walls lol. This is indeed part of the appeal. For free, if you would like, they will take a polaroid of your butt and memorialize you eternally on the walls. While I didn't do that, if that's up your alley, go for it. Service (2/5): This is the main area of improvement. After being seated, I was greeted promptly and got my first cocktail promptly. From there, things fell apart. I had to grab the bartender's attention to order my second drink and to close out. It was a week day and they weren't busy. And there were two bartenders. A lack of attentiveness. When I closed out, I noticed that the cocktails were both $2 more expensive than what was listed on the menu. When I inquired, I was told that the menus were outdated... umm what? If you're not going to re-print your menus, give people a heads-up when they arrive. I understand that most people won't notice, but this is deception. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet. If you're trying to eat here, all they have is snacks. The menu doesn't specify but I'm thinking it's probably chips or somethign like that. Drinks (4/5): A lengthy, and interesting, cocktail list. Similar to a speakeasy, you're going to see creativity and an interesting blend of flavors here. The most popular drink is Fuck Nazis. We're seeing a theme here. KWSC is an interesting spot. For various dollar amounts, you can get funny things outside of the polaroids of your bum. My first cocktail was great. My second one, a tiki drink, not so much. The menu said that there would be some flame action happening. It didn't. Just another example of the service falling short. Back then, the cocktails felt intentional and creative, not just rushed out for volume. Even on busy nights, it somehow still felt personal. Unfortunately, over the last couple of years, the vibe has changed quite a bit. The drinks just aren't as consistently good as they used to be, especially considering the prices now. Service feels far more transactional and impersonal, and the atmosphere that once made this place stand out has faded into something much more generic. Don't feel intimidated if you're not good at riddles--I stressed about this part a little bit beforehand. Don't! Just read it. Yes, the drinks are a little strong--but isn't that how they're supposed to be in a Prohibition speakeasy? Overall, we really enjoyed Alchemy 48. As a Black family, the experience left us feeling unwelcome. I can't say why we were treated this way, but the interaction was extremely disappointing, we chose to dine elsewhere. Update: After my original review, the restaurant reached out to apologize for our experience. We decided to give them another chance, and I'm glad we did. Our return visit was completely different. The service was excellent, and we had the pleasure of meeting the Ashley Cook, General Manager and the owner. They made us feel genuinely welcome. I appreciate that they took our feedback seriously and worked to make things right. Our server Tyler was exceptional.

Music is always on pointe and I would never change the look or ambiance of the place either. My last trip here though I had to ask about why the menu had stopped changing as often since we were one of two parties there in the middle of happy hour and there was a large framed picture of a bartender with a bunch of signed notes on the bottom of it beside me at the bar. It turns out that one of the oldest curators and bartenders of the bar and restaurant had passed from a drunk driving incident and I had not known at all! Gosh I was so disappointed in myself that I had ever complained about not having a new menu to try after that...but at the same time it was amazing to hear so many great anecdotes and to learn so much more about him and the history of the bar itself while dining this time. I had a lot of fun times at this bar - including remembering the first time I met that bartender and sharing that memory with the staff that told me their story. They also shared that they would be coming out with a new menu very soon and some of the new items and ideas that would be rolling out so I am also very excited to go back! New food menu tomorrow too?! What?! I was almost tempted to back today to get more of their amazing dishes from the main menu!! Thank you Cat for the amazing hospitality! I learned so much about Gaea in one afternoon too :D Love it. To update about the food I tried but some of you may not get to try since they're changing it up :P *Tiger Shrimp - DIVINE - JUICY ZUCCHINI STUFFED WITH CURRY THAT MAKES YOUR ENTIRE MOUTH WATER JUST THINKING ABOUT IT ONCE ITS EVER TOUCHED YOUR TONGUE - the prawns are BIGGER THAN YOUR MIDDLE FINGER *Thai Salad - zesty spicy, VERY filling and made in lettuce cups, so very much not your typical salad but very tasty *steak skewers - much more like the juiciest steak I've literally ever had on a skewer - LITERALLY...but not because it's fat, just because they somehow made this steak completely juicified - don't ask me how - ask Cat *Mole Chicken Skewers - My favorite...you should just try it.
