The Blue Heron is located in the back of Crust Italian, it can be hard to miss. You either can go to crust and they will walk you over, or go to the back, look for the awning. Anyways we enjoyed the times at Blue Heron Bar, some things to note. Each mixed drink we tried was amazing, however they are STRONG ( in a good way) so I usually stay with a bourbon based drink so I can sip away. Be mindful if you are driving or just get a ride over. Some of the food we tried -- Charcuterie-- if you like the board with the various items, you will like the plate they offer here, I really liked the food portion. I'm sure this will pair with some wine perfectly ( I don't know if you can bring your own bottle ) The pizza americano, if you get this get it with some extra honey -- it's delicious! Nice portion size and it went perfect with our drinks. We got the butter cake which is perfect to split. If you are doing the date night thing you can easily drink and eat for under $100 easy. One of the managers stopped by to check on us, and sent over some shots. Staff was pleasant as can be. First class and appreciated! Last tip, if you are sitting down at the booth, try to sit next to each other, this is a great place to people watch. Looking forward to going again soon! Thanks.

I have been here before with a girlfriend and had been wanting to bring hubby here. This place is really pretty. The lighting level is perfect--dark enough to be intimate but light enough to see your food. There is seating at the bar, of course, and a wall of banquettes. Look around the corner to see some great art on the wall and gorgeous lighting fixtures. There is a patio, too, but it was closed. Who wants the patio when it's 9 million degrees outside? We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was there promptly and when we said we weren't ready to order, she made sure to come back quickly and not make us wait long. She really was a great server very cheerful and attentive. We ordered: *Painkiller *Last Mango in Mexico *Charcuterie *Fried Calamari *Meatballs Both cocktails were delish and beautifully presented. We also enjoyed all of our food. It's rare that I like everything in a charcuterie plate, but I liked everything on this one. The meatballs come three on a plate lined with ricotta and grilled bread. Sooo good! The calamari was topped with pickled peppers and Fra Diavolo. The Fra Diavolo want as spicy as I thought it would be, but it was good. This was a great place to come to drink and snack in place of a regular dinner. We will be back for a repeat soon!

I love the ambience in here. The fire feature is lovely. I like the speakeasy vibes and the subtle entrance. There was plenty of room for bigger groups and many little tables for a cozy date night. The cocktail I ordered was unavailable. This, to me, is like a pizza place running out of pepperoni. My second choice was good. I wanted to try a bespoke tequila-based drink, the bartender did not have any ideas other than a paloma, which seemed pretty basic to me. I am a big fan of Crust next door, I hope that this bar can level up a bit to match the quality over there. In the future I will probably just go to Crust and order drinks there.

On my most recent visit to Arizona, my friend highly recommended this place so after navigating the entrance we made our way in and it was FABULOUS!! The whole speakeasy vibe is amazing - the staff were so lovely and helpful with all our questions - the food is delicious (I love how the serve up pizza)- and the drinks are outstanding! Absolutely can't wait to come back!!

Omg my husband and I had the best time here. Came for a date night Friday night and were seated immediately (we got lucky). It was very crowded with people enjoying drinks and talking about their week. We ordered the charcuterie board and he got the bone marrow. Both were great. I had two espresso martinis and he had a couple old fashions. Both excellent. At the end we met the alcohol rep or manager or whatever and he had my husband do a luge shot down his empty marrow bone. It was so fun.

I love The Blue Heron, and recently came here with a friend who had never been there. It was very busy on a Saturday night, but fortunately we only had to wait a few minutes to get a table. There was bar seating too. The hostess gave us The Blue Heron menu which has drinks and some food items. They also serve food from Crust next door. You just have to ask for that menu. I had their pizza before, and really liked it, but they removed my favorite kind (I don't remember the name, but it was a spicy one). This time I tried the Chicken Alla Vodka. I appreciated that the waitress made sure to clarify that the two chicken cutlets are served on a bed of broccolini, not pasta because a lot of people had misunderstood that. Each cutlet was large and full of flavor. It was so good, but I could not finish all of it. The leftovers were good the next day too. For drinks, I had to get their Espresso Martini. It's consistently good and has a really pretty design on top instead of the usual three coffee beans. My second drink was from the Crafts section. I think it was called the Sweater Weather (tried to verify on their website but it's not listed on there). It was a bourbon-based drink. Definitely spirit-forward and is a sipper. The drink ended on a sweet note with the luxardo cherry at the bottom of the glass. My friend also really enjoyed her meal and drinks. I would highly recommend this speakeasy if you're looking for one in Gilbert / southeast valley.

I've been wanting to go here for a while now and I finally got the opportunity to go with a Yelp friend that lives in Gilbert. It was a very rainy night but my friend said let's go anyway so off we went! I entered through Crust and they didn't have a problem with it since it was wet outside but normally there's a door with a fish above it that is the actual entrance to The Blue Heron. The inside is dark and intentionally has low lighting to keep the vibes mysterious. I tried joining the online waitlist ahead of time but the hostess told me it gets turned off when they're booked for the night, thankfully she was able to get us a table anyway. I started with the Painkiller because tropical drinks are very much my jam, my friend had an espresso martini, then we ordered our pastas and talked for a while. Our server was so sweet and very attentive, she brought us water all the time. Our second round was the Last Mango in Mexico for me and Sweater Weather for my friend, both were very strong and delicious. The Mango was perfect for me and had the right amount of spice from the sliced jalapeño and tajin on the rim. I actually drank it way too fast and wanted more!

I love this place!! They make the perfect lemondrop!

Very nice ambience. The late night items were delicious. Everything we ordered was very tasty. The drinks were delicious and the presentation was beautiful. There overall experience was good, only recommendation is for the waiters to be a little more attentive. Took a little longer to order more drinks.

This cocktail is so pretty! My friend ordered a Crown and Coke and her coke was really flat and colorless though. Ummmmm Also, why would you close at 10 Pm on a Sunday? It's the weekend....

Cute place. We were the 1st ones there. I like getting the calm before the storm. It was a Wednesday evening. The drinks are theirs, but the food is from next doors. Crust Simply Italian restaurant they share space with. Smart idea!! When we 1st got there, we had very attentive staff. By the end, we were waiting for them to come by and ask if we wanted another drink or to get our check... we waited 20 min before we initiated contact. By then, we passed on 1 more drink each and just opted for the check. The place is dark and intimate, playing current music. We enjoyed their drinks.... great presentation and taste! It's a great 1 time experience but not worth a 1 hour drive in rush hour.

    Sweater Weather!

Love the atmosphere, drink menu is unique and delicious, service was very friendly, a thoroughly enjoyable experience!!

I was previously here for an event and was waiting for the opportunity to come back. This place is even better than I remembered. Excellent cocktails and they now server the full menu from Crust. Looking forward to many return visits.

Of course, this place is known for its cocktails, so naturally they should be great--but trust me, I've been to several cocktail-only establishments that were lackluster. Absolutely NOT the case here. You could literally put all the pages of the menu on a wall, throw a dart, and whatever you hit would be delicious and interesting in its own right. The place is a little small, but honestly, that's what I love about it. It feels cozy in all the right ways. It's also very relaxing, floating along the sea with some delightful surprises here and there. We ordered several drinks, but one that's not on the menu (and they do make it) is the Pearl Diver, which is magnificent here. We were waiting for dinner at Buck and Rider and went next-door to see if we could get a drink while waiting. The host greeted us nicely and said that as long as we could be gone within 45 minutes that they would love to welcome us in since they had other reservations, but that worked out perfect because like I said we were waiting for our table next-door anyway. It is small but decorated beautifully thankfully there are no steps because it is dark and you kind of feel a little lost as you're walking through but the ambience is very cool. It feels like just tropical and lush all around you. We were seated at a two top along the wall, which seemed like a small space however, it had a really cool cut out window with a moving landscape of water and an island that through the course of the time as we were sitting there, changed to a storm and then cleared it up again it was just really beautiful visually and didn't feel so closed in. The menu was a large variety of cocktails obviously you need to like rum and bourbon and all of the things that pirates and island feels give. Our server made some suggestions. We ordered two different drink drinks. The first was the macadamia nut piña colada I think we are expecting a little more coconut flavor to this drink however, it was very delicious. Definitely strong. The other was actually our server suggestion that had peaked my interest because it had guava in it and that was called off the grid. It was delicious. It was perfectly balanced with sweet and sour lemon, pineapple guava with bourbon and other flavors. On our way out, I did hit the restroom. They have two neutral bathrooms. It was large. It was very clean, decorated beautifully like the rest of the restaurant. All in all a great way to start the night.

There were 6 of us on a Sunday night and we still able to be seated right away as they put two 4-top tables together (due to mobility issues for some party members we couldn't use the high-top tables). Even with the tighter seating quarters, the noise level was fine as we were easily able to hear each other talk. Their food menu has the staples you'd expect from a pub- wings, salads, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches and a few other entrees. We all ordered different items and most everyone enjoyed their meal. My youngest got the Asian BBQ chicken sandwich and it was so wet he struggled to eat it. My Caeser salad was average...could have used more parmesan and had black pepper available. They have a large beer selection with at least 60 beers on tap, and many more beers available in bottles. I tried a local hefeweizen from the tap and it hit the spot. They have plenty of TVs for watching sports...the NCAA games were on and it was enjoyable watching the actions while dining. Their prices were equitable to other similar establishments and we liked the location as it's pretty low-key. Overall, this is a good place for food, drinks and fun.

It's hard to miss the door when you can hear people on the other side :). Hostess was nice. Alex immediately introduced himself from behind the bar as I sat down, and Meagan was the main bartender this night. They were both a wealth of knowledge when it came to cocktails. I really wasn't expecting too much but the two drinks I ordered were a solid 5/5. I had the silk bandit and the untold legacy. I like sweet drinks this way. It wasn't too sweet. All the flavors were well balanced and well thought out. They also had a girl singing tonight and she was amazing!!! Thanks for a nice relaxing night. Service was a 5/5 and I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area.

As the self appointed king of speakeasies, I'm back at it with another one. This time was checking…read moreout a speakeasy located in the heart of downtown Gilbert on a Friday evening at 9 p.m. I parked for free on the street before making my way to The White Rabbit. There are some things I really love about The White Rabbit and some that I didn't. Ambiance (3/5): When I think of a speakeasy, I think intimate. The White Rabbit is not that. It's pretty large for a speakeasy with a large bar and a good number of tables/booths. They weren't at capacity while I was there, but there were a good number of people there. Which made it pretty loud. To the point where you have to yell at your bartender when ordering your drink so they can hear you. Perhaps a much different experience on a week day. Getting in the speakeasy was both a hit and a miss. If you're subscribed to their email list, as I am, you get a different password every month. I was excited about this. Upon approaching The White Rabbit, I saw a sign naming the establishment and pointing me in the right direction. This takes away from the spirit of speakeasies which are supposed to be truly hidden without any signage identifying the restaurant. You'll see a velvet rope blocking a stairwell where you tell one of the bouncers the password. I had a reservation. If you don't know the password, as another party there didn't, they ask you to access a QR code to find out or ask others who are waiting. I appreciated the dedication to the cause. Once you get in, you walk down the stairwell, and then enter a cool hallway decked out with Prohibition-style decor. That leads you into the main room. The main room is also Prohibition-style though a bit unremarkable. The bathrooms are clean and also feature some cool paintings (and they also hide that they are actual bathrooms). With that being said, when I liked the hallway and the bathrooms better than the bar itself, that's a bit of an issue. Seats at the bar are bar stools without back support. Never fun for my old man back. I did, on the other hand, appreciate that they have free WiFi. Service (3.5/5): The service was generally pretty good, though a bit slow. They start you off with some water without asking you which is always a nice touch. It was just one of those situations where you have to put some effort into getting a bartender's attention on several occasions. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior so no food for me. I did check out the menu. They have a small selection of appetizers, flatbreads, and desserts. Drinks (3/5): When I'm at a speakeasy, I'm looking for creativity and an interesting blend of ingredients and flavors. While The White Rabbit has a good number of cocktails, many of them didn't attract me. Part of it is a matter of personal preference. There were only two drinks out of about 20 that I was interested in. Overall, I wanted a little more, but with that being said, the drinks were reasonably priced for a speakeasy. Not a bad speakeasy by any means, I have super high standards when it comes to these watering holes. Just not in my top five when it comes to speakeasies in Phoenix and surrounding areas.
