Very much enjoyed my first experience at Blue Heron. The happy hour was excellent. You have to try the smoked old fashioned. It was delicious. So was the food. They had lots of happy hour bites and snacks and even a couple of pizzas. The food is from Crust. It was great. Loved the ambiance and the big mural of the heron on the wall. I would also love to sit outside once the weather cools down a bit, but it was too hot yesterday. Would come back again when I'm in the area. read more

I came in one evening with a friend to get a drink! Although I do not drink alcohol, I opted in for a Mocktail. The service was great unfortunately my first Mocktail was overly sweet. The waiter was more than helpful and had the bartender make a new one. There is plenty of seating and the decor is very nice! I love the feel of the bar! read more

Sneaky speakeasy off of Crust. The cocktails are hand crafted gifts of deliciousness. I tasted 8 different cocktails spanning vodka, gin, tequila, bourbon, and whiskey. Every single cocktail was an artfully crafted explosion of taste and design. The best way to go is to ask for "bartenders choice" and name your spirit. If the crowd is looking too thick at Crust, head around back to the Blue Heron, they have the full Crust menu! read more

It's not every day that u find me at a cocktail bar, and boy was this bar hard to find!! We circled around the plaza about 3 or 4 times before we realized that we needed to ditch our egos and just ask somebody! Come to find out, we passed it a couple times without realizing it! True to their speak-easiness, there's no sign that this place actually exists, but u can find it by looking for the Crust Simply Italian sign. You'll see a few light greyish/beige doors with suite #s on them. Look for # 101, and u're in for a good time!!! The ambiance is perfect! Decor is very chic! I would hang out there for hours on end if they let me! Seats are very modern and comfy! The patio has a freaking amazing fireplace! Service was great and my drink, Mr Sandman, was a knockout!! Half a drink later and I was knocked out!! Can't wait to test my liver again and see what happens next time! Looking forward to spending my time out in the patio enjoying the warm fire!! read more

My husband and I love going to The Blue Heron. Since they open we've always had the best service. We love sitting at the bar and watch mixologist Chris create the signature drinks. It's been a while since we've been, wow the place was packed. Everyone was enjoying ambience. The secret is out! Haha If you haven't been I highly recommend. read more

Small speakeasy behind Crust. Follow the blue light behind the restaurant or go through the back doors behind the kitchen to find the entrance. Great date night spot, and can still order food from Crust while enjoying a few drinks read more

The food and service was perfect! The only reason for 4 stars is the ambiance. The music was very loud current music. We had expected soft jazz considering the speak easy atmosphere. We finally asked them to turn it down because we couldn't hear each other. They did and changed it to jazz. read more

Found this spot, great atmosphere, has a speakeasy feel! Enjoyed some cocktails, and a bit of food while meeting with a friend at the Bar. Staff was very friendly and accommodating as well, and the place was full when we departed! read more

The ambiance and vibe was great, our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu as well as the drink selection. Definitely a vibe if you're looking for something more of an intimate setting, great for a first date or just a night out with your lady. read more

The service and food were great! The ambiance was good too, just a little too loud with the music. But great job on the food and drinks!

Our party of 4 made a reservation for 6:30. We waited 30 min to be seated and were not seated until 7pm. The hostess provided us with very few updates during the 30 min. They could have at least offered us something to drink while we waited. When we were finally seated, our waitress was not very attentive, and took a while to take our orders, then the food took a long time. The table next to us ordered after us and had the same plates, but was served beforehand. Some of our plates were served cold. Once we finally sorted out the food and food temperature, the overall quality of food was average. This restaurant is more of a cocktail focused business, I would not go for the food. Or the service. read more

Food - excellent - from appetizer to dessert! My husband ordered his main dish from the Crust Simple Italian menu and I ordered mine from The Blue Heron menu. No complaints. Absolutely delicious. Cocktails - can we say "WHAAAAATTT!!" Blown away. First, the service was superb! Naomi was professional, informed, kind, helpful, and classy. Now check this out: the bartender divvied up a custom cocktail shot/sample for us to try. What a sweet surprise! Our tastebuds responded as if they'd never experienced such deliciousness before! The butter cake dessert was supreme, not too rich nor too sweet. I was shocked by that (and grateful!). The vibe was chill and intimate. The overall experience gets the max 5 stars and we can't wait to return with our friends! read more

Meh, I wanted to like this place but the music is a big turn off. Instead of nice ambiance the music felt like I was at a Scottsdale club. Total turn off for a speakeasy. Missed the mark. Unfortunately won't be returning. read more

Blue Heron is one of our go-to local spots in Gilbert. The ambiance here is very moody and chill. Perfect place if you're looking for a laid-back night with great drinks. I don't think we've ever had a bad drink here!!! They also share a similar menu as Crust, which is an Italian restaurant next door with good pizza. read more

There are now several speak easy establishments around The Valley, but this one is my new favorite! I love how approachable it is - no password required and you can enter from the outside or from the Crust restaurant. The cocktails were amazing, and the bartenders have been extremely friendly. And to top it off, the ambiance is very cute and quaint. The artwork is gorgeous and the seating is comfortable. I'll definitely be back and have told several friends about this amazing place for both dinner and cocktails. read more

The Heron has quickly become one of our favorite go-tos mainly because of the service, but the speakeasy ambiance & music are great seconds. A number of their craft cocktails are excellent (Espresso martini with a splash of Bailey's & the Mango Marg especially), and the bartenders, Chris & Suede, are more than willing to try something new per your request. We start with the meatballs & end up sharing the Chicken Alla Vodka, although the charcuterie is also a good choice as well. We tried the Warm Butter Cake recently & it was sooo good! read more

The service here is absolutely amazing. The drinks are outstanding and the food is delicious. I've had great chats with the bartenders and the servers here which will keep me coming back. It is quite spacious for a speakeasy, but I enjoy this spot and I will be visiting frequently with friends. read more

So this was supposed to have a speak easy vibe but just didn't quite hit it. Inside did have the feel but it also had a "patio" area they covered with blue canvass so that took the vide right out. No really food but appetizers .... Hate to say it but they weren't that good. The bone marrow was not meaty at all, the calamari just didn't have that taste and the batter just kept flaking off. HOWEVER, my hats off to the mixologist!! The drinks were great! And our waitress Tiffany was a peach. Very friendly, attentive and engaging. She was awesome. read more

Where to start?! First off, it's door 101!!! Me and my husband walked in right at 5 when they opened. We were welcomed by friendly staff and they let us know we could sit anywhere (we weren't sure since it was our first time) We opted to sit at the bar and was met by a super friendly bartender who chatted with us and gave us awesome recommendations. I forgot to get her name but she had on a black lacy dress and long dark hair! (If you see this your freaking awesome!!) Now onto the food, we ordered the mussels, chicken Parmesan, lobster ravioli, warm butter cake, and Terimaso. All of it tasted fantastic!! It was a nice sized serving and the bread rolls are drool worthy! Drink time!! We had the Rose (it's a longer name but you'll know what I mean) a blackberry drink, a glass of red wine, & the Last Mango! They were so yummy and had the perfect amount of alcohol. After all of this we ended with two cappuccinos. They were good and frothy and I loved the whole thing! The general manager also took the time to stop by, chat, and see how we were. We let him know he has some awesome people working with him and we really enjoyed our time! I will say the only thing that made it hard is knowing which door. Bill if you see this, don't do a bright neon light. Switch the bulb over the door to blue. Everyone will know but only if they know. It leaves a feel of mystery to your very awesome place! So after this very lengthy review. I hope you give this place a shot because it's worth the time! ITS DOOR 101! read more

**NOTE You have to read this review using your best English accent** Well well well... it was quite the experience to witness the rare blue heron in its natural habitat. Rare indeed it is, as only one blue heron exists in the entire Valley of the sun. Akin to other creatures of the night, The Blue Heron is a most exquisite creature, showing its true self only once you endeavor through the mystical entryway to where it lives. I opted for the Speak, No Evil. It was truly a non-evil tequila concoction that made for smooth imbibing on this chilly yet formidable evening. My better half selected the gin-based Mr. Sandman... and it indeed places her into a sleepy spell! Our server presented with an elegant knowledge of the beverage menu that would cast shame unto other lesser beings. If you're looking for a good time over tasty cocktails, then set your sights upon The Blue Heron! *****FIVE STARS***** read more

The food is as excellent. The service was great. The ambiance was unique in the essence that when you walk in the room it smelled like the sea. They also played a LOT of smooth jazz music. Great place for any looking for a fun night out on the town , a great place for date night or a new experience to share with your friends and family. I highly recommend " The Baker" on the craft cocktail list and the Lobster Ravioli on the food menu. The sauce on the ravioli was so rich and creamy that it melts in your mouth. read more

A friend is mine found The Blue Heron online, and we decided to try it for her birthday. It's a speak easy so their is no sign but it's in Cooley Station, at Recker and Williamsfield. It's attached and has the same address as Crust restaurant and they offer their menu for food. The decor is great, very sophisticated and comfortable. Their cocktail menu is amazing. Also you can ask for the Bartender's Choice, the server asks you what you like and don't like, and out comes your own personalized cocktail. The service was top notch but not stuffy by Hanna. The manager also made a couple appearances to being some appetizers and chat which was nice. Our group of four women sat outside on the half booth table and made lots of friends and people passed by. As soon as the parking structure is finished their will be valet parking in front, and when that happens it will be busy, so go try it before all of Mesa knows about it. Great night! read more

The Blue Heron. It's pretty. It's cool. It's pretty cool. It's a gorgeous speakeasy bar attached to Crust, and one of my favorite bars I've ever been to. The ambiance is comfy and fun. The service is always amazing and 10/10. I always see Tara when I go and she's the best bartender and server. She always makes perfect drinks, and spends extra time adding attention to detail to make them extra special (see attached photo of my espresso martini)! There is full service dining from the same Crust menu attached to the bar, but there are additional specialty cocktails and drinks that are fantastic! I reccommend The Blue Heron to all! read more

The drinks and food are wonderful! The staff is great! But it's so loud inside that it's impossible to have a conversation without yelling.

Decor at the table was damaged ruining the "upscale" overall feel (table top light had a massive chunk out of it). The seating is much more crammed together than the website appears. When seated, staff scurried well ahead of us to point out our table. It took 45min to get our appetizer. They were out of their house selection for bourbon and their mixed drinks were not memorable. For a "speakeasy" it was lackluster, the food was more impressive than the drinks. (We tried 2 types of old fashion and 2 additional bourbon mixed drinks). We had hopped that it would be on par with The White Rabbit, but they aren't even comparable. read more

I don't live in this area, but we were down in Gilbert to see some friends and my wife and I stopped in this speakeasy after searching for some cool places to check out online.
