NOT WHAT YOU THINK The Spitz moniker is derived from the rotating BBQ spit, middle-eastern style rotisserie used to slow cook their meats. The name of this restaurant isn't very becoming. But you will be coming regularly once you try this place. Mediterranean food has worked it's way as a staple across the country because of the use of numerous spices, it has an undeniable bold flavor that has become a favorite of the American diet. Here is no exception and lives up to the Mediterranean flavor profile expectations with an Americanized twist on the ingredients. I ordered on the app and found it quite user friendly, which encourages me to get food here more often with the ease of use and simple interface. You have to ability to add or omit ingredients from the menu items which makes for a very satisfying customized meal (and only have yourself to blame if it is a displeasing combination) BERLINER WRAP- meat and veg all in a flatbread wrap. There's a lot of ingredients packed in this thang, so for me, I had to use extra sauce to dip and coat it all in flavor. The problem with these wraps though, is that the paper it wrapped in was getting stuck to the bread and would have to constantly peel it off that thang and it was a mess, unless you just don't mind eating the paper for some extra fiber. MEDI BOWL- The bowl was felt healthy and hearty; an all-around good dish. The crunchy garbanzo beans were a nice element to contrast against the other textures in the bowl. We just don't understand the hype! We came here expecting a great experience! A customer was walking out and asked us if we'd ever been there before. We replied no. He then said we were in for a treat! I told him that's what we've been hearing. After looking over the menu, the wife and I ordered a Street Car Donor and Berliner wrap, baklava dessert, and soda. There was only one other couple in the restaurant . I noticed to go orders and DoorDash orders were being picked up while we were waiting for our orders. By the time we left, there was a line. It didn't take very long for our orders to be prepared. It was promptly delivered to our table. The first thing I noticed was the lack of meat in my Berliner. It didn't come close to the amount of meat I saw in several photos on Yelp. After I bit into my wrap, all I could taste were the vegetables. It took a few bites before I tasted just a hint of meat. This was very disappointing. I was meat hungry and I wanted something healthy with a good portion of meat. I wasn't getting it here. A total letdown! The first thing my wife commented on her Street Car donor was how dry it was. Where was the sauce? She had to ask for tzatziki sauce. I took a bite of hers and at least she had more meat than I had. She told me I could have her other half. She was impressed to say the least! Did we come on an off day? Was there someone new in the back? We came here on a Friday night, excited to try this place! Tables were somewhat full when we arrived. We were waiting at the counter and checking out the menu until the employee greeted us. They mentioned that their system was not working, and we had to order from the app. The app had a bit of a lag when ordering, but there was BOGO which was nice. We waited about 30 minutes until we got our order. The restaurant became really busy and many customers were waiting for their food. It seemed like there was only one person working that night since the employee that greeted us also made our food. :( Aside from that, the food was great. So I grabbed a gyro and some wings to go from here the other night. I can't express how good the wings and sauce were. Dry rubbed and crispy, and the sauce on the side. Perfect all the way around. The gyro was tasty and so were the fries. This is definitely my new go to spot for wings! read more

Spitz was a decent fast casual Mediterranean option. Ordered a lavash doner wrap and salad, it was enough food to share. We had the street cart wrap with beef & lamb-- Garlic aioli, fried lavash chips, romaine, cabbage, tomato, onion, green pepper, cucumber, and tzatziki. We only got takeout but the inside was eclectic and cute, and the service was so nice they even added a dessert for us to try! My husband and I got the remix bowl and the medi bowl with rice and three meats, and some Berliner sauce on the side. The bowls were so yummy, now that I know what they're like I probably would ask for just beef/lamb, extra chickpeas (SO good) and less pickled onions. My husbands sauce was good, not too spicy. Wowza!!! I highly recommend trying Spitz...it is awesome! We drove by and ended up coming back to eat because we were curious. This is a small, eclectic cafe with abstract art all over the walls, love their chandlers, which are like several shop lights all tied together and hanging from the ceiling. They have an outdoor patio as well which I was told was dog-friendly. You order at the counter from their fairly large menu of Mediterranean style foods. They are truly vegetarian, they offer vegan as well. They also say they are gluten free but I don't know if they have special accommodations so foods are not crossed contaminated or if they just offer "gluten free options" like their pita. We were surprised at the reasonable prices for everything. You can make your meals a combo for an extra $6.50 and they offer wraps, salads, gyros, wings, etc. I went for the Original Gyro with beef & lamb and it comes with crisp, fresh romaine, tomatoes, red onions thinly sliced, feta and tzatziki. I will order extra sauce next time because I think it could have used a tad more, but that's my preference. Wife did the Doner Basket, which is a big salad with everything you can imagine like fries, garbanzos, olives, tomatoes, feta, falafel (more on this in a second), and fried pita and lavash strips. They serve it with a balsamic dressing, which wasn't needed because all of the components. She got the salad with beef & lamb and loved it. You are offered sides with everything and I got the fried pita strips and hummus. Their hummus was creamy smooth but lacked any real flavor...needs seasoning and lemon! Those pita strips...ok, those are to die for! Wife's salad included falafel...we have never tasted such a great one before. They use a distinct spice in it, which I'm not sure what it was but it almost had a cinnamon flavor. They were so good and we will order them as a side next time. I cannot wait to come back here for some of the other offerings. Their food is so fresh, so tasty, just an overall great experience! They had several take-out orders; we ate there. Excited to try this spot out since we went to the location in SLC all the time before we moved down here, and love that it's nearby in DTC. Order food at the counter and take a number to the table type of spot with spots inside and out on the patio. Love that they have a whole vegan section! I got the vegan lavash wrap with falafel. It was jam-packed with ingredients and so flavorful! The fries are bomb. I love the crispy outside and soft inside, and the seasoning is just right! It's a chill spot with great food. This place is cute, but it's small. There's outdoor seating but it was too hot to sit outside. After all it is August in Arizona which means temperatures are 110 and above sometimes. I did not enjoy my meal at all. I had the OG Gyro and I must say I have definitely had better. I did the combo so it came with french fries. This is just a personal thing for me, but I don't like french fries with that coating on it. I just like french fries that are fried with salt. However, my husband ordered a wrap and he thoroughly enjoyed it. He also ordered some wings and he loved the wings. I actually tried the wings and they were good. My husband said that he would definitely go back, but I don't think I will be making a return trip. read more

Hidden gem! Yelp recommended! I tried it for first time and just loved the twist in food here. It's on busy road with limited parking around but worth a try. Food flavor was amazing and meats were marinated well. Would highly recommend as a go to lunch stop. read more

Service is fast casual and the interior is extremely small, but there is a long patio (not sitting out there in August). I was quickly greeted and asked if I'd like a beer, of which I chose a juicy IPA. I ordered a side of hummus with one falafel and it was dense and yummy. The hummus is tangy, thick, and rich. When I inquired which bowl was most popular I was told to get the remix which I ordered with lamb. This place has been on my must try list for months. Came here on a Friday for lunch. Walked into a pretty small interior- about 5 tables and two counter-top seating areas. There is an outdoor patio on the South side and West side of the building, but too hot midday in the summer. Also a distinct coffee smell from the adjacent Blackrock. The man at the counter explained the menu which was helpful as I was having a hard time seeing the laminated copy. I ordered the street cart doner wrap combo with fries and drink. $21...oof...more than I like to spend for lunch. The food arrived at my table in about 8min- fairly quick! The wrap is large- good sized for a full meal and more than enough for lunch. Nice presentation and tightly wrapped! The first bite had a lot of salt, but subsequent bites I got more of the filler vegetables and much better. The wrap has high quality ingredients and overall is quite tasty. The fries are crispy and seasoned, also very good. They have a dispenser of cucumber water on the counter which I sampled and it was crisp and refreshing...definitely good filtered water. The radio was pretty loud. It would have been difficult for me to have a conversation if others were with me. Overall a place worth trying! Very tasty! An un-assuming restaurant. Very lively and bright as is the food. I went with a couple coworkers for a quick lunch while we were at a shared work space in Chandler. It as just a few minute walk from the space. We were greeted when we walked in. We ordered for three of us to eat there and for two to go. I felt bad for the worker because we did have quite a few food allergies (true allergies) so the kitchen seemed to be a little confused and a couple of the orders got mixed up. They were fantastic about it though. The food was so flavorful and fresh! The flatbread chips were amazing!!! There is limited space. We were unable to sit on the patio as they were painting. If you love Mediterranean, Chandler is definitely the city to be in! Stopped by here to grab dinner with the girlfriend and it wasn't very busy on a Tuesday night around 6 PM. I think most of the food is already premade, which is disappointing. the Greek salad is very hefty for a side. I love the chickpeas in it. I got the Greek wrap and the meat, lamb, was over cooked and tough. the wrap just didn't taste good which is strange (weird tango taste that doesn't come on a gyro) I love the decor and fun look to the place. They have friendly service and they have been keeping up with their quality the multiple times I've eaten there. Absolutely love this hidden gem! Many restaurant were close in chandler, but we saw this place was open late and the menu look good! The street cart wrap was my favorite wrap! It's lightly sauced which is what I like, but you can order extra sauce for your wrap. The Berliner I thought I would like especially since it had corn, but the combination of the ingredients overall was not as good as the street cart. The gyro was super good!! I had this for the first time tonight - several of my friends rave about it. I ordered the medi bowl w chicken and the loaded fries, add a coke. The flavors on the bowl and fries were good - the ingredients fresh. However, I found the bowl to be VERY dry, nothing really bringing it all together. I wish there were alternative hummus flavor options and that there were more sauces for the bowl. I also wasn't expecting it to be cold, which was fine but unexpected. My sisters bowl was cold and ehh it was ok - nothing special. We saw the worker check on the other outside tables a few times and never made it over to us even though we were sitting by the door. As we were close to being done she decides to finally ask us if we needed anything..... so i end up asking for hot sauce. Highlights: I am a huge spitz fan! I've had them in several states and I was so excited to see one in my hometown. The food is delicious! I love the flavor combinations and the healthyish ingredients. You can't go wrong with the street cart wrap. Compared to a lot of similar Mediterranean casual places, Spitz is a much better value. One of the best Lamb & beef Gyros I have ever had, a friend loves the lamb & beef feta wrap.

Had a very nice lunch yesterday at Spitz. The parking is in the back. The decor is very eclectic and fun. Very, very interesting light fixtures and wall art. Food came quickly and it was very tasty. Good size portions. I would go there again. Cost for two gyros, one fries, two drinks, 1 baklava was about $36. If you like Greek food, give it a try. read more
