Wanted to try something new and Cairo's had great reviews and was close so we put on an order for pickup. I'm going to start with a gyro at any place that has them, so I opted for the combo with Greek fries and a side of the garlic sauce. My order was wrapping up right as I got there, they are right up the street from me so I expected to wait a bit. Restaurant was clean, and we were greeted quickly and warmly and told our order was almost ready. Got home and dug in, the gyro meat was what you'd expect, plentiful, in a nice pita with your typical onions, tomato and tzatziki. There was something else in this though, like an herb, maybe tarragon? But it really took the gyro to a whole new level, I really enjoyed it! The fries were plentiful and crispy, even after a quick trip home steaming in a styrofoam container, covered in seasoning, feta and lemon they were very good and the side of garlic sauce made them even more amazing. Holy smokes! You ever accidentally break out in dance and make "this is scrumptious" noises while eating? If not, you have to try here! Not gonna lie, I licked the plate clean in public. It was phenomenal stuff! I ordered the Giza's Special and was not disappointed at all. For me to walk away from a place full is a rare occurrence without ordering two meals (stupid fast metabolism), but they hit the spot and sent this fat kid away fully satisfied. Upon delivery, food was still hot and fresh (kudos to the driver). Our order consisted of gyro, Greek fries, and the chicken and kabob plate. The gyro was very good and the tzatziki sauce really balanced the fattiness of the meat. My only wish was that it was never-ending! Tried this place for the first time this past week and cannot begin to express how excited we are to have found this gem! We placed an order over the phone for carry out and the gentleman who took our order was incredibly friendly and answered all my questions. We ordered a gyro pita, a chicken shawarma plate, Greek fries and falafel and everything was ready in about 15 minutes (post the crazy lunch rush)! First, let me tell you about these fries. I search high and low for the kind of fries they use at this restaurant & to be quite honest, any place that uses this same fry gets an immediate A+ from me because these are the epitome of the perfect fry-- extra crispy on the outside but perfect on the inside. Make them Greek fries and it's just *chefs kiss*. The falafel was the best I've had around here, many places have theirs a little too crumbly. These were not only flavorful but don't fall apart when you bite into them. The gyro is a classic and delicious & the chicken shawarma plate was also just as good with great size portions. My pal & I decided to stop by this new establishment today during some free time & we had high hopes for the food after receiving a 10% coupon + 2 free orders of Baklava with order of $30+. The order after tax was about $33. After he applied the 10% it dropped below $30 and he refused to give the baklava. Didn't make sense to me but i complied. I ordered the Chicken Gyro, and requested no onions. The Gyro & the Greek fries were good, but of course, the only thing I had requested was not done. I had to manually remove each onion. Once I got that taken care of I was able to enjoy my meal. My pals' meal had these pickled red onion looking vegetables and he did not enjoy those, but the rest of the meal was solid, and the dessert was superb. We will be back to give this another shot, and hopefully receive proper service. PS. I also enjoyed the fact that this restaurant sells S. Pellegrino. - Update. The owner of the restaurant invited us back & made everything right. The meal was amazing, we got the gyro pita with the lamb & garlic sauce and it was fantastic. Before I left a review, I made sure to try the same beef shawarma wrap about 8-10 different times at Cairo's. It has been 100% consistently amazing. The beef is of quality, seasoned well and I've never had any nasty gristle or fat like many other places. Also, the mix of parsley, tomatoes, the awesome pickled turnip, and tahini is what brings it all together. After many years of searching, I finally found the best beef shawarma wrap in Arizona. Fantastic mom and pop shop! The owners were very welcoming and sweet. It's a small, quite little place but still has plenty of tables to seat several small parties. I had a Falafel Wrap combo. I got it because the fries looked good in all the pictures. They did not disappoint! The fries were the perfect combination of soft and flakey. The Falafel Wrap was excellent. You can tell it's authentic with they use the small pickled cucumbers. It was wrapped nice and tight with a good sized portion. What a great place! It opened just over a week ago and we just happened to find it tonight by accident. The food was phenomenal. My wife had the beef platter and I had the gyro with fries. I visited Greece twice when I was a teenager, I've eaten a lot of gyros since then, and this one tasted just like I remember. Everything we ate was fresh and delicious, and the menu is priced right. We got a chance to chat with the owners for a few minutes. They are a super kind and welcoming couple, and they checked in on us throughout our dinner. He used to manage another restaurant in the valley, and they just took the plunge and opened their own place. These are good people, I hope they find a lot of success with Cairo's Gyros! read more

I have been over 7 times in the past two months and I have to say their consistency and flavor are top notch. This is the first place I get wraps as a combo - their fries are VERY good. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My favorite is the beef shawarma. It comes with tahini and sumac and onion and maybe one or two other toppings. The wrap is consistently large especially for the price. Very flavorful. For the record, I have gotten this wrap over five times in the last two months. It is addictive. I have also tried the chicken shawarma which is also very good. I have also tried the gyro as is which is very good. Their tzatziki tastes very cucumber-y. Lots of tomato and lots of MEAT. I went here with a Meetup group, and one of the members knew the owners, so I got some inside scoops. The name "Cairo" isn't just a cute rhyme with Gyro, the food actually has Egyptian influences. For example, the small stuffed grape leaves are warm and have a yummy filling. And the doughnut-shaped falafel I tried were lightly crunchy on the outside, and moist and a little green on the inside, due to cilantro and other ingredients. The beef kafta was juicy and tasty, like a dense meatloaf. The pita that came with it was soft and good for lapping up the smooth hummus. Everything was good value. The owners were very cheerful and brought out the food after you order at the counter. The overall vibe is bright and modern. There is good value to the food and everything seems freshly made.
