It's been here for years and I've never really seen any cars in the lot, so I've always been a little confused how they're still in business. When I pulled up, the parking lot was partially blocked off, which already felt off. Walking in didn't make it any better--no music, no staff in sight, and no one greeted me. The service was great. The staff was so kind and attentive. To start off the salad was fresh and nice. I really enjoyed the dressing, which is made in house. The hommous was good too, so good my daughter even ate it. (She usually doesn't like hommous.) We ordered way to much food, but it was all good. The guyro was the best one I have had in the valley. The chicken shawarma that I ordered was delicious. The gentleman that was at the register was very kind. However I do not think that I will return. The restaurant was not very clean and disorganized. However the bathroom was absolutely filthy. On my way to the bathroom there was a strong undefinable odor in the hallway. When I opened the bathroom door the smell was unbelievable. When I had finished using the toilet, I discovered that there was not any toilet paper! The counter of the sink was molded. We ordered through a delivery service and we ordered our entrees without tomatoes and both of them came with tomatoes. The delivery service made it right j believe and took some $ off. The meat within each entree was cooked well and seemed to be good quality. The slices and seasonings were tasty as well. My pita was a bit too hard for my taste and my jaw abilities but otherwise it was pretty good. The fries were tasty as well and I'm a huge fry fan. Spoke to the owner, who said that catering and to-go orders are what is keeping the business afloat. There was one other man in the restaurant, finishing his meal. No music. Just quiet. I was slightly bummed because I had consulted the Yelp community before picking the restaurant. Instead of searching for "Greek" or "Mediterranean" I looked up "saganaki." (For those of you who don't know-it's wonderful yummy flaming cheese served with pita bread.) The reason for using "saganaki" as a search term was that, since it's served on fire, it doesn't really work as takeout, and so many Greek places are fast-food gyro places, and we were looking for sit down. With servers and personal menus (instead of posted on the wall) and metal silverware. Sigh. As I said, though, the food was excellent. Hubby and I ordered the Combo for Two. We were in a hurry, so we ordered wraps (shwarama & Chicken kefta) i added some tabouleh for 99¢! We had two meals and it was less than 20 dollars. Def coming back when we visit Mesa. The first thing we noticed when entering this diner, in late November 2021, is the strong smell of sewer. I hope it was a temporary problem, to be fixed as soon as possible. Even though this restaurant served food to go only for now, outdoor tables and chairs are provided. The chicken shawarma sandwich was pretty good. The meat was well marinated and seasoned. It was cooked right. The generous side salad was fresh, but I am not used to the taste of the dressing. This restaurant is not at a location we typically visit. I ate here for years before 2020. I hadn't returned since because prices had nearly doubled and I wasn't in a position to pay them. I was excited to finally come back. The lentil soup is delicious! The service is good as well. Unfortunately, I will not be back for one simple reason: all plates and utensils are disposable. This is a sit down restaurant and that just comes off as incredibly lazy. But I also try to be environmentally conscious and I can't even fathom the waste from this place when our two meals came with two styrofoam bowls, two styrofoam boxes, two styrofoam cups, two styrofoam plates (that we never used) and six disposable utensils. Many have shared their love for their rice...and much agreed, it's always a home run. You must try it! Gurantee you'll go back for more. Also great they don't cover their salads and dishes with the yogurt sauces and feta cheeses since I have a dairy allergy (thank you), instead they add them on the sides. There is a great selection, the portions are large, price is good and the food is addicting. My husband and I love to eat and we can eat a lot! Sharing the gyro platter is enough for us (with extra pita). The platter comes with tons of meat, lots of rice (or fries) and soup (or salad)! The service is great too. I can't say anything about the ambiance since we weren't able to eat there. We love middle eastern food and thought we have had the best in Arizona but we were wrong! This place is a diamond in the ruff! We ordered the family banquet and it came with 3 different appetizers (domas, falafel, hummus) lots of Humus and four different types of meats. Let me tell you- beat rice ever! And the salad they give you a choice of traditional Greek salad or fatuous and the Fatuous ( pronounces fa-tu) was so good! Owner was so kind and amazing and even included extra pita for huge humus tray at no charge). The rice had buts and raisins for taste! It was the best rice ever!!
