I'm going to get straight to the point: This is the best Lebanese (or even Near/Middle Eastern) food I've had for probably fifteen years...and I eat this cuisine at every opportunity! Visiting, from California, some dear friends in Mesa, we ventured through the triple-digit heat for about 20 minutes to get there. Even they as locals had never heard of the place, hidden amidst miles of chain stores and strip malls. But it wasn't long before we were all singing its praises and vowing to return. Across the board, every dish was peak: ultra-creamy and subtly garlicky hummus; silken, appropriately smoky baba ghannouj; perfectly crisp, tender, not-doughy-inside falafel; and herby tabbouli, light (but not vanishingly so) on the bulgur in the Levantine style. These basics always make or break such a restaurant, and they were all outstanding. Add to this seldom-seen delights like foul medamas (fava-bean soup), four variants of ghallabah (grilled meats or seafood), chack-chouka/shakshuka (eggs poached in tomatoes and onions), and two types of pita baked on premises and served from the oven--all in generous portions and at reasonable prices--and it's worth the drive wherever you are in Phoenix and environs. I would eat here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if I lived here. I will absolutely return on my next visit. read more

So, I only came here tonight because the place next door- Sal's had too long of a wait. Everytime I come here, I am disappointed. The waitress never gave us or offered us any refills on drinks. She was gone most of the night. There's an upcharge for fresh bread and so I said yeah, we'll do it. She said she'd bring out the pee-packaged pita bread and the fresh bread that we paid extra for. Then she never brought out the pee-packaged stuff like she said she was going to. The bread was ok, but they only gave us 3 pieces of pita bread which were about the size of a sand dollar. This was not enough bread for 2 people with 3 dips. Also, the fries were the kind of fries you get when it looks like they haven't cleaned the grease in a while. The babaganoush was really good. But everything else was pretty mediocre. I've been here 3 or 4 times and everytime I feel as though the service is bad and the food is overpriced. It's really sad, but I want to like this place, but I can't. Also, they have a rewards program but my waitress didn't try to get me to sign up. I asked when I saw it. It's a pet peeve of mine. But- I guess she doesn't really care or offer it because she probably doesn't think people will come back. I've been to this place before, and was looking forward to meeting a friend for dinner here. We found a table right away, as it was rather slow when we arrived It's a cute dining room with a big mural on one wall, lots of plants, and a super cool "wall" of hanging grits and veggies. A very nice server came to take our order and bring our food. We were there talking for quite a long while, and he checked on us often, even after we had finished eating. We paid at the counter. I ordered the Greek salad with gyro meat. It normally comes with bets and olives, but I ordered it without them. My friends ordered the chicken shawarma plate, which is huge. Both were really good. We are repeat customers here and for good reason... it's amazing! We have only dined in once and all other times did take out. In my book if your take out is amazing after a several mile drive that speaks volumes! Every time we get home with the food it's still hot and fresh. Their Greek fries may be the best I have ever had. My kids agree! Loaded with sauce and feta. Oh man! So good! The platter is generous and we share that with the fries to have a plentiful meal, even having leftovers! The staff is friendly every time. Pro-tip: Don't get the fries. You get way more meat getting a mix combo than the chicken kebab plate. Highlights: The restaurant interior is really cute and the customer service is great. My husband really liked the gyro meat - it was well portioned and flavorful. They have a very large menu and I would be interested in ordering something atypical that you get at other Greek counter Service chains. Lowlights: Really disappointed in their fries - they aren't crispy or satisfying. The regular pita is rock hard or you have to pay extra for their homemade one. I've come here a lot of times to eat by myself. I absolutely love the food here because it's so fresh and some of the best Mediterranean food I've had. Today I came in and sat down, I waited 10 minutes to be helped and a girl server kept looking at me, but didn't offer a menu or ask if I was waiting for an online order, nothing. This is a first for me to not be acknowledged at all until the guy came by after I had decided to just place my order online. It wasn't busy at all. Delicious authentic flavors! Cannot comment much on service because we took food to-go. Very quaint understated place. Great portion size and great value. We ordered the Phoenicia combo to sample more main items. My favorite was the lamb kafta. Their pita bread is fresh and fluffy. Hummus was a but runny but very flavorful. Even the rice was seasoned well with spices. The whole family was quite impressed with the flavors of the food here and we will surely be ordering from this restaurant again. So sad, we've come here many times and it's a 45 minute drive for us, so when we choose to come here it's because we really want to. We were stoked to come here tonight, but unfortunately did not leave as happy as we entered. I had ordered a tabouleh salad with beef kabob, I instead received tabouleh with beef shawarma. My daughter ordered a fattoush salad with chicken kabob and received the salad with chicken shawarma. The service was friendly, but the problem is when you hire someone who can't differentiate between kabob and shawarma. Our neighbors recently introduced us to Phoenicia Cafe, and it has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants!! The space itself is small, but there is a variety of seating inside, as well as a few small tables outside. Service has been excellent both times we have dined in. We started with the hummus and pita for an appetizer - it's so yummy!! We usually end up taking some home with us. The small portion is definitely enough for 2-4 people. For this trip, we dined in on a Saturday evening. My husband and I split the Greek fries - gyro meat, fries, onions, tomatoes, feta, and tzatziki. They are AMAZING. We love them. It was plenty of enough food for us to split. We did, of course, buy some baklava for us to take home too!! Visited this place last year... and completely forgot about the name. The service is amazing! Ambience is fun and food is just outstanding. We got done from the gym and wanted to have protein rich food. Given this is closer to the gym , we recalled how amazing the last experience was and visited it again! They now have fresh juices made in house which is PERFECT! The Lebene and hummus are just spot on and so was the speciality dish - Quizi. The meat of the lamb shank was perfect tender and juicy and fell off the bone leaving a mother watering moment! The lebene and lamb stole the show! Don't forget to try their speciality grape soda for that flavor enhancement! The juice took us by surprise and was perfect for after gym meal! Using a Mediterranean spice, I believe it is called Za'arta (I could be worng) on one Pita sample, and the other one was Pita with cheesy deliciousness on top. In-house made beef, marinated just right, house made hummus, house made Pita bread, lettuce, tomato's, onions, and tahini.
