I was craving Mediterranean food today and immediately thought of the Green Olive. I've driven by a few times and it was about time I stopped by. I ordered a gyro with fries, chicken shawarma , baba ganoush , and the pistachio ricotta cake slice. Up first, the gyro. The gyro was filled well and the meat was seasoned and cooked well. The fries are shoe string fries, which were not too crisp (which is just how I like them). The chicken shawarma came in 4 separate pieces, which I liked. I found the chicken and seasonings to be flavorful and each piece was packed full of fillings. For my side, I got the spicy potatoes. These are thinly sliced Idaho potatoes that have a spiffy garlic jalapeño sauce. I liked them but I wish there was less sauce. The baba ganoush was so good. It hit the spot. I have a weakness for this dish. This one wasn't chunky like some other versions I've had. I like how creamy and high quality it tasted. Finally, the dessert was so good. I am a huge fan of pistachio and ricotta so of course I loved it. The presentation of the cake is pretty too. I highly recommend this one. Overall, I liked the entrees and especially the dessert. This was our first visit to The Green Olive in Mesa, and it was really good. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted right away. We looked over the menu and ordered the chicken shawarma wrap with the spicy potatoes and the #8, which is a chicken and beef kabab with rice, hummus, and fries. I have been eyeballing this place for quite a while, and when I saw that fellow yelper Stephanie V. Had eaten here, it encouraged me to try it. They've really made an effort to dress this place up. I was in here when it was a Mexican place previously, and it looks so much different with the large daily breeze and little fountains in the corner. The menu is huge, and I was so thrilled to see that they have lamb chops. I love lamb and you really don't find too much lamb in Arizona. You order at the counter and they will bring your food to your table. We ordered: *Gyro wrap with spicy potatoes *Chicken kabob wrap with spicy potatoes *Lamb chops with rice, salad, hummus, and pita The sauces and dressing that came with the food are so good. There seems to be a southwestern or Mexican twist with jalapenos in this food and I'm living for it. If you like Mediterranean food and want just a different twist to it but I can't really place my finger on, this is the place for you! read more

Yum, yum, and more yumminess!!!! It's the kind of place where you wish you were still hungry so you can eat more!! We ordered online from DoorDash and it was Fantabulous!!!!! We received the food really quickly! The chicken shawarma plate rice - savory and PERFECTLY seasoned - Chicken as well!!! Realllly nice portions!! That extra bit of salad was so fresh and crispy!! Yummmmmm!!! The tzatziki sauce is more of a yogurt as it says. Baklava was seriously out of this world, the crispiness, the sweetness, the nuttiness oh my!!! We got take out from here and everything was delicious! I especially loved the stuffed grape leaves and salad. I usually don't like falafel but I actually like the falafel I tried here. I would definitely recommend trying this place out next time you want some Mediterranean food! read more

Amazing!! I I wish I knew about this place sooner. Their hero meat is amazing, tasty and well cooked. My hubby is in love with their garlic salad dressing and the rice. We cannot get enough of this place and now come here once a week for takeout. I can't wait to try other new dishes on the menu. I will report back yelpers. read more

SAVE YOUR MONEY!! Worst Mediterranean I've ever had. Explains why it was COMPLETELY EMPTY at 5:00 on a Saturday. Roasted vegetables eh no - I paid $1.50 extra for over-steamed and some were brown. Worst Tzatziki ever. Runny liquid. Salad was wimpy (bad tomatoes) under the meat and meat was 40% less than you get everywhere else. Rice - no flavor. Bought side of "Greek" fries that were supposed to have Parmesan and Feta cheese. You'd be hard pressed to find either and at $6.99 not cooked and less than a McDonald's serving size. The app doesn't work well. Kept going around in circles--I about gave up and sure wish I would have. Complete waste of money!! You couldn't pay me to go back here. read more

Ordered via Ubereats. Did not receive the small fattouche salad. Called and the person on the phone put me on hold and then insisted that they packed. I wouldn't argue over a $5.99 salad. Did not receive the salad. It is odd that she didn't remember packing the salad until I was on hold most likely because it wasn't packed. I have ordered from them multiple times. My friend has spent weeks raving about this location, and how we needed to try it before an event when driving out to Phoenix area. He advised there were vegetarian options and the food was great, so when we planned to go to Copa America we knew where lunch would be! When you walk in, there is a counter to walk up to place your order. Once your order is placed, there is a beverage station that you can grab a drink while you sit down to have your food prepared. They brought the food directly to the table, and I was amazed at the portion for the price! $13.99 for a Falafel plate which included fresh greens was great! This platter could easily feed two people if you wanted to share and was delighted to have leftovers. If you eat meat, my friend said the Chicken Shawarma Fries are a customer favorite and he finds himself stopping in weekly to have though this location is 20ish miles from where we live. That's the mark of a good dish if you are willing to drive to eat it! Be sure to check out this location if you are a fan of Mediterranean cuisine. read more

Food was fantastic! Service was friendly and prompt. I love the food and staff here. Since Byblos closed, I needed to find a new Middle Eastern restaurant. The Green Olive is it! This place was so good, I came back twice before writing a review! I ordered the Gyro Platter both times and they were delicious both times. I'm not usually a hummus girl, but their hummus was so creamy and tasteful. The house green sauce that comes with the platter is incredible. I want that sauce with everything! I also ordered the Beef Shawarma Fries which was spectacular. Although it had too much onions for me, they had shoestring fries which is the best. We received complimentary baklava since they had grand opening the next day. It was good and flaky. Overall, would definitely be returning as this is my go-to place if I'm in the area. read more

I was in the area and hungry, so decided to give this a try. The young woman working up front was so welcoming and informative! I got the #1 beef skewer plate and subbed "spicy potatoes" for rice though I had no idea what they were. They are SO good! It's thinly sliced potatoes in this amazing green garlic sauce. I'm happy that I also got a side of this garlic sauce because it's delicious! The beef is tender, with great flavor, and still a little pink. I would order this again for sure! The chicken in it was really really weird and rubbery and I stopped eating it a couple bites in. The hummus was bitter in my opinion. The potatoes were very weird, unappetizing, and very gross. Very clean and welcoming restaurant. The young lady at the counter was ok. Not super friendly but not rude. She was wearing a mask so communications were muffled. Placed an order for to go and to eat there. She was bringing the food as it was being ready. My daughter got her salad and shortly after that chicken and rice. I got salad and waited and waited seemed like for quite some time. Lady appeared and brought to go orders. I finished my salad and was pretty much done especially considering that my daughter finished her meal already. When my chicken kabab arrived I tried few pieces and asked for to go box. As a customer I wanted to sit there and eat but unfortunately that didn't happen. Best advice would be bring the food for customers who are eating at the restaurant and after that bring their to go orders. The food was good. Flattush salad was seasoned well. Our friends invited us to join them at Green Olive on Litchfield Rd and it came highly recommended by others. We loved it! Parking is good. The decor is easy on the eye, clean and fresh. It wasn't over crowed and noisy, our server was friendly and efficient. The food. Ahh very fresh. Get the gyro plate. Moist and tender with no grizzle over (choice of sides) we had rice and salad. The rice wasn't over cooked and the simple salad had a great yogurt dressing. I had the salmon kabob w/rice, salad. The salmon was caramelized and melted in my mouth. It will be my goto dish! My husband had the chicken sharwarma that he devoured leaving a spotless plate. It cost $45 without my beer ($6), a desert ($6) and tax/tip. We will be back for more! read more

The food was good quantity but needs a little love. The salad is good, but the dressing is creamy, which I would not expect from a Greek dressing. The rice and the chicken shawarma was pretty good. The small fattouche salad was OK but it tasted like way too much lemon was squeezed on it. It was so incredibly tangy and the dress dressing was ridiculous Ridiculously spicy. I ordered the sliced grilled tomato which did not come sliced or with any seasoning and was pretty gross. I've tried several Mediterranean restaurants throughout the valley - and this is by far the best. IMO, the food was delicious and the service was good! I will definitely be back. The hummus is on point and chicken kabob was excellent. Juicy and flavorful kabob. The steak was tender and cooked just right. The rice wasn't greasy and was fluffy. My boyfriend loved the sauces. I went as a single (week of May 11-17) and they had not been open long, and are still working out the kinks. I had the Bianca pizza with the sweet and spicy red wine. It was a very good combo although a bit on the pricey side. I ate the entire pizza (a 12 inch) by myself, I felt it was missing a spice but my taster isn't that great. The server station is open to the entire floor and was not appealing to look at, so I suggested a movable half wall. Juliana was my server and she is marvelous!! I ordered the Door Dash deal of the buy one get one chicken shawarma plate for lunch. It was amazing! The rice and chicken were moist and the salad was fresh and delicious. The only thing I would wish as an option would be a different flavor of hummus rather than only regular, this would be amazing with a cilantro jalapeño hummus! Although, the plates came with a side of this spicy green sauce that was sooo good. I had to call the restaurant on my lunch break just to ask what it was because I became obsessed. Had high hopes when I ordered from the green olive, but my hopes were dashed when I received my order. I ordered the works grill and my stuffed grape leaves and falafel were missing. The salad dressing and some bright green dressing in a small container was so spicy I couldn't eat it. To top it off they forgot my baklava. Not in a big hurry to order from them again.
