This place has gone completely downhill. They are pitifully understaffed, the service is absolutely horrible, and they blast music louder than a steel mill throughout the place so there is no escape. They do make good food, but once the waitress takes your order and brings the food, you can forget about ever seeing her again for anything else you might need. read more

I visited Rocky Point Seafood Restaurant based on a Facebook group recommendation for great Mexican food in Gilbert. I called earlier in the day to place a pickup order, but when I asked where I could find the menu, I was told it wasn't available and that I'd need to come in to see it. I arrived around 8 p.m. on Friday, thinking the dinner rush would be over, but the place was loud, and the waitstaff was overwhelmed. There was no place to sit and wait for a take out order, so I went back to my car with the menu and tried calling to place my order. After waiting on hold for 10 minutes, I called back, but the line just gave a busy signal several times. I ended up going back inside to place the order in person and awkwardly waited by the door for my food and while this was happening, cops arrived because someone got kicked out. Definitely an awkward situation for our first experience. When my order was ready, I had to ask for utensils, which weren't included. The atmosphere definitely feels authentically Mexican, though. We ordered a shrimp burrito, which was a bit plain and dry--just rice, fajita veggies, and shrimp. The fish and chips were better, with a good sized portion of fries. read more

We got there 1.5 hours before they were closing and they were already sweeping floors and putting up tables. It almost looked like they didn't want to serve us. Luckily, we were able to get a table and order some food. I wanted to get a quesadilla without onions but server's English was not so good. Arrived on a Sunday at 2pm the bar area was full but rest of restaurant was empty. We sat at booth and it took over 15 min for anyone to even acknowledge us. She then rushed us to give drink order (without providing a menu). It took another 20 min to get 2 house margaritas. The server dropped off drinks but didn't ask for our food order. We had to chase her down to place order. 30 min later our cold food arrived. When you order sizzling fajitas that's what you expect but not what we got. Salsa was watered down and tasteless, chips were terrible and fajitas were cold With no seasoning. Service was poor and servers had zero customer service. We tried Rocky Point twice now. One was a relatively early mid-week dinner and the second time was a late dinner at 9:00pm on a Friday. The two experiences were kinda different from an ambience perspective but the food was great in both times. Mid week music was nice and the restaurant was quiet. Friday, it was super loud, I was yelling to order and I was not able to have a conversation with my husband. So if you don't like loud music, nights on a weekend are probably not for you. Restaurant is spacious and there's a big bar area as well. Service is superb! They are fast, they check on you regularly and are very pleasant. The menu is pretty extensive with whole fish options, fish fillet, shrimps, octopus, crab, etc. there are also fajita dishes, tacos, many appetizers to choose from and seafood cocktail dishes so there is something for everyone! We ordered multiple dishes so far but our favorites were the Ranchero fish fillet and the breaded shrimp. The dishes usually come with rice and potatoes and you get to choose either corn or flour tortillas. Flour is our favorite and theirs are very good. The potatoes are basically two slices of very good fried potatoes. The ranchero is so delicious. The fish fillet is huge and it is smothered in cooked onions, peppers and jalapeños so it's a tiny bit spicy but delicious. It is also served with salad. The same sides come with the breaded shrimp. It was cooked perfectly. We are fans of Jamaica. Theirs is refreshing without it being too sweet. They serve chips and salsa as soon as your arrive. Chips is fresh and salsa is medium heat to me. When you order, they get sauces and limes to the table. Prices are a little on the higher side but still acceptable. It is understandable because it's seafood. First time we paid $135. The second time the bill was $81 for 2 jamaicas, 2 rancheros, 1 breaded shrimp and a side of half an avocado. We will be returning because we are enjoying the whole experience every time! read more

In short, it's a nice spot with alot of seafood options and of course quick and the staff were awesome! We enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back. There's a lot to like about Rocky Point if you like Mexican style seafood! We've taken out of town guests here numerous times and everyone has said good things! I love their ceviche, especially when ordered in fresh green coconut. But I can't eat that much so I usually get a half order or a ceviche tostada. Fish tacos are also great here! The wait staff is generally young women in yoga pants... maybe they get better tips that way? ‍ Either way, we get good service and good food read more

If you're looking for an authentic mariscos restaurant that's not in Phoenix, THIS is your spot. Restaurant/sports bar, it can get pretty loud in here & may not be the best place for children. Tropical feels with straw & colorful beach decor this place is giving Playa vibes! Complimentary chips & salsa are always given, and the salsa is good & CHUNKY. Micheladas are my go to drink and they make them very well here, with a little spicy kick! Very generous portion sizes and great tasting food. The shrimp coctel is amazing! Most places you have to doctor it up, but here you don't..unless you want a little more spice of course. Now let's talk "toritos" anytime I got to seafood place, I always opt for them. They are chilè gueros stuffed with shrimp, cheese & wrapped in bacon served with soy sauce. Here, they were just okay as they were on the saltier side & some even burnt. But I'd definitely give them another chance! Next, we got the Parrillada Mar y Tierra (land & sea) this dish is meant for sharing. It comes with both carne & pollo asada, breaded shrimp, bacon wrapped shrimp, red breaded fish, & stuffed peppers..and it is BIG! Definitely a must try dish. First time here and here are my 5 cents Place was super busy since it's Saturday night but we were sat pretty quickly. The ambiance I don't think it's family oriented since the music was pretty loud and there were tables around us that you can tell were pretty lit ( so very rowdy and loud) The food: SUPER SALTY to a point that I'm not sure if the chefs are even testing/ checkin their salt levels. I ordered limes 3 times to attempt to bring the saltiness down and we simple decided to stop eating because it's honestly not tolerable. My tostada literally tasted like someone smacked you with a big bag of sea salt and bit of seafood. So it's tastes like a bunch of salt with seafood. Our waitress was very good so no complaints on her service. The lemonade was super good so I would come back get a lemonade and that's it. When this restaurant first opened up, it was a Mexican food restaurant called Guido's but unfortunately, it didn't make it and now someone else has it so this is my first time in. The music was so loud. I finally asked to go back to a more quiet area and sat down. I looked at the prices and I thought you know what I needed to go by the bank and take out a loan so I could pay for the food but I did find something for $17 and was fish and chips and I have to admit they were very, very good. The fish was a little different looking than a normal fish and chip, but it was very very tender and it wasn't heavily bread. But let's go onto the ambience. The music was extremely loud then all of a sudden it turned to rap and the language was unbelievable, and the surprising part to me is that women actually put up with that kind of language doesn't make sense to me, but that's the way it is the waitress came over. I complained to her about it and she said well I can't turn it down or turn it but she said Mexican music should come on any minute. Well, not long after she left the Mexican music did come on. Talk about the building I felt the building was extremely dirty. The walls where there was wallpaper down close to the floor was torn on the corners and looked dirty. The floors themselves look dirty. The place just didn't feel appealing now if I was to go back because the fish and chips were that good I'd order them in advance. Service was pretty good, however, as we were wrapping up dinner, my wife said started saying something to me, but I felt something on my neck. I swatted at it, turns out a big roach was on my neck and when I swatted it, it landed on my chest area. This thing was like two inches long. The whole bill was taken care of, but my concern is, the lady said with the doors being opened they have been coming in a lot. Walking into this place felt like being transported to a small Mexican costal town. They started us off with a delicious bowl of chips and salsa. I was between a 4 and 5. So I always give the benefit of the doubt. The only reason I would do a 4 star is because when we first chose a table we almost sat in wet food products all over the seat. But they apologized and moved us. The menu is extensive and not just the basic meals you may be use to. The portions are mammoth. The shrimp cocktail was very good. Reminded us of our visit to Puerto Vallarta. Lots of shrimp. My husband ate it as a meal and it was more than enough. I got the shrimp and cream cheese stuffed peppers that were bacon wrapped. First time here. This place looks like if Taco Chiwas and Red Lobster did the wild thang and "spawned" Rocky Point Seafood Restaurant. And I loved it! The whole vibe was incredible. Mariachi music was blasting on the overhead speakers. Modelo and Tecate are fresh from the tap. Delicious chips and salsa are immediately immediately brought along with your water. The service was really good. The staff was very attentive and friendly. I wish we were my friends in real life. Maybe I'll come back and ask them for their Instagram usernames. Then, who knows? Now on to the food. I ordered the fish & chips with a fish taco on the side. The fish & chips was pretty good. Even though it was fried and had a lot of batter, it still tasted pretty fresh to me, if that makes sense. I think I do prefer a ligher beer batter, but the flavor was still pretty delicious. I don't have much experience with fish tacos, but their grilled fish taco is the best I've had. It comes with their flavorful grilled fish and pico. I added a little chipotle mayo. I was one happy Mexican. I'll definitely be back. They have a big menu with the traditional Mexican dishes. But also a full seafood menu with dishes I've never heard of. First, let me say our Waitress Brianna was amazing--she was bubbly, engaging, attentive and personable. This was our first visit and we were celebrating our 24th anniversary. We both ordered a dozen oysters and my hubby also ordered one fish and one shrimp taco. The oysters were fresh but the owner doesn't provide horseradish or lemon. My husband thought the tacos were overloaded with ingredients, making them difficult to eat. There was no drink menu--what restaurant doesn't have a drink menu? We enjoyed our visit but would suggest the owner change his website to include the current menu, with prices, and omit the "get a quote!" Also, the owner should provide a drink menu. It was the worst experience ever!! They brought me the exact opposite of everything I ordered and when they had to redo it, it took forever and my husband was completely done eating. They even screwed up my margarita which I asked for sugar on the rim of a mango margarita and they layered it with salt. Literally the girls that work there are so ditzy. They couldn't even get anything right and then when they brought the bill, it was completely screwed up and they charged me for stuff I didn't even get. This place is a HUGE hit or miss and it depends on the waitress you get. We've been here four times. Twice we had a great experience, food came out promptly. We always get their oysters because its probably the best we found in the valley. Their fish tacos are great as well and they provided with a lot difference sauce to go along, including some home made by the restaurant. Their fried whole fishes are great as well. Foods are freshly served. The other two time including the most recent experience weren't so great. One waitress spoke no English and got our orders mixed up even though we showed her exactly what we wanted on the menu. The other time we came in and were seated with no menus for about 5 minutes, we just went and got the menus ourselves. The waitress then came over and we ordered tacos, appetizers, kids meal and a dozen oysters. We finished all of our other foods and waited about 20 minutes after for our oysters but they didn't come, we then had to remind our waitress and she said it's coming, but I think she forgot about it and only put it in when we asked because the oysters came out 5 minutes later. Food quality is consistent except for the kids meals, they can be huge portions for the price or can be not enough. Drinks are the same, michelada are prepped properly when they're not busy. But when busy, they just give you a glass with the mix and a bottle of beer and you just mix it yourself. Margaritas are the same way, looks and taste great when not busy but when busy, can seem like it was poured out of a can. Seating can be a mess and music can be too loud. If you go during the day, I think it's less rowdy. Not a great place for kids but that's expected since it's a bar restaurant. Overall I still recommend it as the oysters are fresh and I've had them raw all four times. We'll be back, but just know that the experience isn't guaranteed and to reiterate, it's a hit or miss. read more

You'll see the after photo - sorry. Highly recommend it. Light, flaky. Tender meat. Rice was good, carrot chunks in it. Beans are old school Sonoran home made beans, smashed up right - maybe with milk - not sure. Lettuce side was tasty with lime juice on it. CRISPY and cooling after eating my dinner. Tortillas? We only ate the flour ones - perfectly awesome. Slight butter flavor on my tongue? My husband ate the house fajitas - OMGOD YAAASSS! Caramelization was perfection on the onions and bell peppers. Beef. Chicken. Shrimp. Luscious fajitas - best we've had in the valley, by far. Well let me back up now ....We began with chips and salsa. Yep! And a shrimp cocktail. Lots of cucumber the way a great Sea of Cortez chef will make it. Medium shrimp too, not tiny ones. Spice it up as you wish, their sauce is light. They'll bring you salsas that will make your eyes water. We also had raw oysters - every single one was fresh and sweet. All the fixens - just ask. Margarita was truly GREAT (best I've enjoyed in Phoenix, only Leo's in Tucson might be better) and my husband really liked his michaelida too (Just can't spell it now). Manager sweetly and quietly slid me a shot glass of their mango drink, nicely rimmed with tajin. Mnnnn. Perfectly frozen lovely drink. I saw the full sized one all prettied up. Epic looking! Oh yes, we're stuffed. Content Elite Yelper here - finally... we found our favorite food spot. Next time I'm trying the rellano for sure. Maybe bacon wrapped Camerones - it's a Cortez speciality we all covet. Fast service. Friendly. Loud music - but we adjusted. I truly felt like I was family, it was comforting to eat there. Can't explain that one. Maybe just old fashioned good service as only epic servers from MX can give. They love it when their customers are happy. We certainly were. Tip well - they work for it. We loved sitting at the bar, and will again sit there. Not all our wait staff spoke great English but we got by just fine. Here's the kicker all non natives must understand - Spanish speakers from good families don't like to use their broken English with Americans. It's embarrassing. Most servers living here legally ARE always practicing. Most don't mind us teaching them words. I can't spell in Spanish but I always do this when I don't know the correct word "Com-may se Dee-say in Espanol par favor?" And they'll tell me. Then I reply "Ahhh en English es cocktail sauce. Gracias mija!" They usually warm up fast. Enjoy the cultural experience. It's how they feel as well. One of our servers was from Nogales. The men sitting there next to us was shocked I knew where it was. "Border girl all my life." I guess they don't meet many natives there. So go and enjoy the food and lively atmosphere- it feels just like a Puerto Penasco hangout with a bigger menu! PS: If you try the habanero salsa you'll figure it out FAST! They all began giggling when I asked "WHAAAAT is this one???" (I've seen so many Valley customers talk about seafood poisoning so: Let me say, when you eat seafood there is a long-standing rule that if a shrimp or oyster doesn't taste right, SPIT it out, rinse your mouth out and spit into your water glass. Don't chew more and don't ingest it - it's a rule anywhere I go eat seafood or fish. It will keep you safe. Tastes off? Texture 'off' ....spit it out. It only takes a good chef missing THAT one. And let the manager know, quietly. I've eaten at gotten sick at solid restaurants. I've bought bad seafood at Costco. Nothing any purveyor or restauranteur wants more than to protect their customers from - it's a full 24-35 plus hours of feeling lousy. Rocky Point Seafood is one of the few mariscos spots in the East Valley. Unfortunately the seafood wasn't all that spectacular and I expected better quality with the prices we paid. I ordered a shrimp cocktail and the shrimp tasted a little funky, this was before I added lime juice and ketchup. The size options was conflicting with what the server was offering. The person said it's one size all but the menu said there was a small and a large option. The aguas frescas were good so I give them that. I also felt like the service was slow and not attentive.
