Was running errands and decided to check Yelp and see where I might like to have lunch. I saw this restaurant that I had not been to before that I believe has been open for almost a year now from what I've read. I was greeted immediately upon walking through the door. The restaurant was very clean and inviting. After perusing the Menu of many choices of different types of seafood, I decided to have a fish sandwich as I hadn't had one in a really long time. It was good! The only thing I didn't necessarily love was the provolone cheese, which I'm not used to having on a fish sandwich. The sandwich also didn't have lettuce or tomato, but as I looked back at the menu, it didn't say it would have those things so that's on me. The plastic silverware was also a little bit odd because they have an extensive menu of seafood items which some of it I would think would be weird to eat with plastic-ware. I had excellent service from Nicole who was super nice and extremely efficient ! I would like to try a few other things on the menu so I'm certain I'll be back and I'll make sure to read the menu a little bit closer next time. read more

Absolutely loved my fish sandwich, fish and chips, fries and Diet Coke. It wasn't too greasy, it was extremely filling and it's one of the better fish and chips I've had in the valley! Don't expect to get out of here cheap. But the service was 5/5 stars for sure. Price? I guess it isn't awful considering fast food places now are $20 for a meal. I'd like to come back for their happy hour specials for food (they do have some drinks but I don't drink so I appreciate food on happy hour). All in all will definitely be back! We just noticed this place randomly and were in the mood for fish and chips so came to check it out! We went on a weekday so there wasn't anyone dining there at the time we went and we only had to wait less than 5 min to get our food but it was delicious! The fish was crispy but soft on the inside and well seasoned. The fish tacos were huge and as someone who can eat a lot, the 2 fish tacos were enough to fill me up. Stopped by Hooked Seafood Grill in Gilbert on a Friday night craving fish, and wow -- they absolutely delivered! Ordered the fish and chips and it was hands-down one of the best I've ever had. Perfectly golden, crispy batter that wasn't greasy at all, and the fish inside was flaky, moist, and cooked to absolute perfection. Huge portions too -- definitely shareable, but I didn't want to! Food came out fast even though the place was hopping, which I really appreciated. Our server was super friendly, checked on us just the right amount, and had great recommendations. Loved the vibe inside -- nautical but modern, chill music, clean, and comfortable. Felt like a coastal seafood spot dropped right in the desert. Saw this place talked about on tiktok, so we thought we'd give it a go. I was really looking forward to their fish and chips, it was subpar at best. I felt like they could have made a better tartar sauce, it tasted like it was out of a bottle. But I did end up using our left over Chipotle sauce from our calamari and that tasted better with it. My spouse ordered a fish sandwich that was cooked in butter. I tried a bite, there was no flavor and barely any butter taste to it either. The fish seemed a bit over cooked too. We recently tried Hooked for dinner and it was excellent. They have a menu that isn't too complicated but has a number of different seafood options such as sandwiches, tacos, and platters. The decor is modern and they have a number of televisions on with games, which was great for a football Saturday. They do have beer and a few appetizers, however I recommend the fish tacos. The portions were on the larger size and prices were very reasonable. The server was nice and I probably burned through about four sodas because of the heat earlier in the day. I am happy this place opened because its hard to find a good fish place that tastes great and doesn't break the bank. read more

I Have been wanting to try this place for several months as I saw it on Instagram so I was in the area and decided to finally try it and it was everything I thought it was and then some. Fish was very fresh. The cocktail sauce and tartar sauce was made From scratch and was delicious. The snapper and garlic butter dish was amazing. A friend told me about this place when they first opened but as I am rarely ever in the area, I hadn't had the opportunity to try it out until recently. After looking over the menu, we ordered fried shrimp to start with. The shrimp was battered to perfection and not overcooked. The cocktail sauce was also one of the better ones I've had in a while. For our main entrees, we ordered the cold lobster roll that came with a side of fries and a red snapper sandwich. Both the red snapper sandwich and the cold lobster roll were standard, nothing remarkable about either to set them apart. The fries that came on the side were the kind I enjoy. However, they could have used more seasoning. Overall, service was attentive, but we did feel rushed while eating. The ambiance was casual and decorated accordingly to match the theme of a seafood place. We dined here for date night after they had been open for three weeks. The place was packed but we were seated after about 15 minutes. Our waitress, Kaylah, was friendly and welcoming. We ordered the ceviche, garlic red snapper tacos, and lobster tacos. The flavors were delicious and portion sizes were robust. Hooked Seafood just opened in our area and we decided to try it out for lunch yesterday. It's very rare for this area to get a new restaurant that's actually decent, especially a seafood restaurant, and we already have High Tide in the area which is pretty good and sets a high standard. Our server was Aleia, who was friendly. However, everyone seemed quite rushed and overwhelmed, so maybe they're still working out the kinks here, not too sure. The atmosphere was well-decorated and casual, but was kind of confusing. You order at the counter for to-go but get waited on if you sit down at the booths. The food was... mediocre at best. The Grilled Shrimp Skewers were decent, but the cocktail sauce was not desirable. It was chunky like Marinara Sauce. The entrees were also nothing spectacular. The fish didn't taste very fresh, and our dishes took forever to come out. I'm glad we gave them a chance but I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon. If you love fried food, this could easily be a 4 or better, bit it was just too much fried food for me. It's a 1st come 1st served restaurant so no reservations, but we got a table right away on a Wednesday evening. Ceviche appitizer wasn't bad but the chips they served were old and stale. The fish on the combo was a nice portion and tasted good. I also really liked the fried shrimp and fried calamari (plenty on the comb), but although the onion rings tasted ok, they were kind of greasy. It's just too much fried food for my system. read more

The owner walked around to greet everyone. we went after lunch and before dinner so getting seated was quick. The menu had great choices even chicken on the menu for non seafood. I had the combo platter with calamari, bay shrimp, and a piece of cod with fries & coleslaw, my wife had the shrimp off the appetizer. Great selections, very delicious. Being that it was our first time the menu and items were explained. Food took a little more time than normal but it's made to order and not sitting under heat lamps. Got the combo which had shrimp, calamari and fish with fries and coleslaw. Portions were generous, and everything was hot and crispy. Impressed by the cocktail sauce and tartar sauce, both appear and taste like they are made in house. Coleslaw was fresh, had some crunch and wasn't sloppy with sauce, fries were average but good. I'm not sure what type of fish it was but it was pretty good. The batter was really good and stayed on the fish... I can't stand when you take a bite and all the batter comes off. We decided to try Hooked Seafood Grill for dinner. My wife and daughter had been wanting to try it but I hadn't looked into it and didn't know what to expect. Walking in, it's bright, open, and inviting. The staff were friendly and attentive, and provided great service. We ordered the calamari appetizer with marinara sauce and an aioli sauce. The calamari was perfectly lightly breaded and the sauces were good. I ordered the blackened swordfish sandwich, my wife and daughter both ordered the fish and chips. The sandwich was good, the swordfish was cooked perfectly but could have used a little more blackened seasoning (in my opinion). The bread was nice and soft, and the tartar sauce was delicious. My wife and daughter said the fish and chips were good. The fish was flaky and delicious. However, the rectangle shape the fish was cut in kind of threw my wife off as they looked like giant fish sticks (still delicious thought). The French fries were delicious. We also tried the beignets for dessert. The beignets were more dense like fry bread (I'm not complaining, I love fry bread) and not like other beignets I've had in the past. The food all came out quick and was overall pretty good. I would recommend giving this place a try. I'm sure we'll be back to try other items on the menu. read more

Went Friday night with high hopes of supporting a local business, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing. The grilled shrimp plate came with only six small shrimp for $14, which felt like a complete rip off. The red snapper sandwich, supposed to be garlic butter, was bland and under-seasoned with barely any tartar sauce. The fried fish sandwich was average tasting nothing special. The food was served on flimsy disposable plates, which didn't match the higher prices being charged. Portion sizes were very small--we actually had to eat again somewhere else afterward. Probably the best fish n chips I've had in town. The butter snapper rice dinner was my second favorite thing. I love how they use jasmine rice for their meals. It's a fast casual seafood spot, easy to get in and out. Very friendly staff and prices are very reasonable for seafood. It's a simple menu and the items will make every Arizona seafood lover happy. Hooked Seafood Market - Missed the Mark on a Pre-Father's Day Dinner My family took me to Hooked Seafood Market on Friday the 13th for an early Father's Day dinner--hoping to beat the weekend rush. When we first arrived, things started off smoothly. We were greeted quickly and told to seat ourselves. Our waitress came over promptly, took our drink and appetizer orders, and we were optimistic for a good evening. The ceviche, though fresh, came out in a noticeably small portion compared to similar seafood spots we've visited. Still, we moved on and placed our dinner orders, expecting the same timely service. That's where things took a turn. After more than 30 minutes--and watching multiple tables around us (who arrived after we did) get served--I finally had to get up and ask about our food. Our waitress looked confused and said she'd check with the kitchen. She came back to inform us that half our order had been "lost" (not quite sure what that even means), but assured us it was being remade and would be out shortly. She apologized and told us they would be giving us a discount due to the delay, which we appreciated. Still, even after that, we saw other tables being served before us again. When the food finally arrived, the presentation was a bit of a letdown--meals were served on paper plates with plastic utensils, which was surprising given that our appetizers had come out on proper dishware. For the prices listed on their menu, we were expecting a more elevated, dine-in experience--not something that felt more like fast-casual or takeout. As for the food itself--my wife and daughter ordered two different types of fish, both with teriyaki sauce. Neither of the dishes had any trace of teriyaki flavor, and both tasted like they were simply seasoned with salt and pepper. They ended up requesting a side of teriyaki just to add something to the plate. While we understand that this is a fairly new location and every restaurant has some early kinks to work out, our first impression left much to be desired. The service started strong but stumbled hard, the kitchen misstep was frustrating, and the food didn't live up to expectations--even with the 25% discount they gave us for the delay. In the end, Hooked just didn't hook us. With so many great seafood spots in the area, we're not in a hurry to return. read more
