Atmosphere, service, and food were all top notch! We will be back. Walking in, we found the place much larger than it appears from the outside. The decor, murals, and lighting all added to the feeling of the space. Because it was my first time there, I wanted to try as much as I could, so I ordered a bunch of tacos! I had 3 street tacos (chicken, carnitas, and al pastor). I also had a crunchy taco plate (1 shredded beef, one chicken tinga). The grilled chicken was very good, moist and flavorful. The carnitas was juicy and tasty (it's the pulled chunks kind, not the diced and grilled kind). The al pastor was saucy and absolutely packed with flavor, complete with some small chunks of pineapple. The street taco tortillas are nice thick and heavy corn tortillas that really held up while handling the pile of meat in each taco. The crunchy tacos were made with flour tortillas which gave them a unique flavor that I don't usually taste with crunchy tacos. The shredded beef was spot-on with flavor and richness. The tinga was moist but the flavor kind of hid amongst the other flavors of the taco. The beans are good, thick scratch kitchen style. The rice was fine, nothing really noteworthy. I liked the thick shreds of cheese on the tacos and beans, made it feel like they shredded it fresh. My wife had chicken fajitas and she was very pleased with the flavor. The chicken was cooked just right. My daughter had a kids cheese quesadilla with Spanish rice and chips. She had her fill but wasn't impressed (don't let that misguide you, her ideal Mexican food is Taco Bell). We tried the blackberry lemonade which was very tasty, reminded me of a candy I used to eat as a kid. Oh and I had a margarita. It was a Goldilocks mix; not too tart, not too sweet, not too weak. Next time I'll get it without the salt on the rim (was a bit much for my preference). We will definitely be back and I'll try more stuff! Make sure to try a few salsas, I like the spicy red the best. Be careful with the orange one, it packs a kick, I'm guessing it's habanero.

Pollo con queso, got shredded beef instead and it was super tender.

Dined on a Saturday for lunch. Quite busy with patrons. Staff friendly. The lady who took my order was a bit confused and needed help as I had questions and requested specific modifications. She was unsure how to enter. Both my husband and I, orders were not as requested. My husband wanted a green chili burrito dry and ended up coming with sauce and they made it a lunch portion versus just à la carte. Mine was not as I ordered as well. They were good, nonetheless. The shredded beef and green chile pork meats were very tender and juicy. The rice and beans were okay. They have a great salsa bar and some tequila. We will definitely be back but will order something different. Everyone's food being brought out looked so good and fresh ingredients. We understand they are brand new and still learning.

Been waiting for this place to open for 2 years. Well it finally opened its doors and the wait was worth it. Great atmosphere with an amazing painted mural and other art. Super friendly staff. Amazing high quality Mexican food. You can tell the rice and beans were super fresh and made with the best ingredients. It might be the best rice and beans I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant! My Asada burrito was fantastic. Everything was just so delicious and flavorful. I live down the street from here and will definitely be a regular now!

Good food, low prices and good sized portions. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They offer different options to customize your food. You can make a burrito into a chimichanga. They also have a salsa bar. I recommend you give it a try.

Tried this new spot and it didn't disappoint. We love Mexican food and Sol Azteca Mexican Kitchen is good. We ordered the nachos with shredded beef, the street taco plate, and the Azteca burrito with carne asada. They allow different meats for the street tacos so we had carne asada, al pastor, and shredded beef. Our food came out pretty quickly. First of all, the carne asada and shredded beef were seasoned to perfection. The pastor was good but not the best I've had. The Azteca burrito was huge and full of flavor. The rice was okay but could be seasoned more. The salsa bar is good with lots of options, although the salsas aren't labeled so we tried them all. My daughter got a margarita which she said was delicious. Overall the service was good, the staff were nice and attentive, and the meat was really good. If I were to base my review solely on the carne asada and shredded beef, it would be 5 stars.

Grande taco with Carnita and shredded beef

The New Mexican place. Hubby ordered the black bean bowl and I ordered the Grande Taco plate. The bowl was a hearty salad with very little flavor. My tacos were carnitas and shredded beef. If you like Torchys- this is exactly that flavor. I don't care for the taco shells, also like Torchys. The rice was ok. Price was 38.02 for two. That felt pricy to me for the depth of the meal.

We tried the chicharonnes, which we did enjoy, but the avocado purée that accompanied it tasted very preserved - Possibly with citrus or something else? The tortillas also did not have much flavor. They tasted almost like something pre-packaged that you could purchase in the store. I expect more robust flavor profiles for House-made tortillas. We also tried the ribeye which we ordered medium rare but it came out medium well+. When we told our server about the steak, she did offer to have it remade but we hate wasting food so we declined the offer. We wanted to try the tres Leches cake because we saw another table order it and it looked so interesting. We didn't want the ice cream on top so we asked if there was anyway they could sub out the scoop of ice cream for a single small churro. Our server told us if we purchased the churros, she would give us the Tres Leches on the house to make up for the steak mishap. We accepted the deal though I don't think it appropriately addressed the issue. The tres leches was dense and firm, not like any other that tres leches I've ever had. The churros had a filling (either cajeta or dulce de leche - I really couldn't distinguish) that in my opinion, did not add value. I would've preferred a percentage off the bill or some other proposal to make it right. It just really wasn't there for me. I've talked to several people in the East Valley about this restaurant since I dined there, and seems my experience was shared among those people too.

The nachos ended up being the star of the night. They were loaded, flavorful, and very satisfying. There was plenty of food and they were more than enough for both of us to share. My husband ordered the burrito and finished it pretty quickly because it was on the smaller side. After that we both ended up just sharing the nachos and we were completely full. Since this was a delivery order I cannot speak to the dine in atmosphere or service, but the food was packaged really well and everything arrived intact and still fresh. Nothing was soggy and the portions held up well for delivery, which I always appreciate. The nachos were definitely the highlight and something I would absolutely order again. Next time I would actually love to stop in during the day and try it in person so we can explore more of the menu.

It was clean, the staff responded quickly to me, but I was the only person at lunchtime on the restaurant side, and there were only two people on the bar side. Despite that it was loud. They need sound attenuation, My server was prompt, and freely shared her menu favorites when I asked. Sadly I'm not really a mole fan, her recommendation, but did try the enchiladas divorciadas. First the chips and salsa... the salsa was basically puréed tomatoes. No heat at all. Just some salt. I asked for something spicier and the server found me some habanero salsa. That was tasty, but it probably had very little habanero in it. Again, no better than a low-med heat. I grew up across the southwest so to me that was disappointing. The enchiladas? I really wanted to like this place but honestly? It was unseasoned boiled and shredded chicken, wrapped in a raw / untoasted tortilla. And drowned in some that was not enchilada sauce. The red sauce tasted like tomato sauce. I'm used to red sauce being pepper based. The spicier and more roasted the better. No pepper discernible. The green sauce tasted like it had a hint of green Chiles but mostly tomatillo. Also boring but better than the red. Neither was good. I ate it, I was hungry and it wasn't greasy, but... this was a midwestern spice-hating simulacrum of an enchilada. No bueno, demasiada aburrida. So to sum it up; decent but slightly loud facility, wonderful server, and I would say forgettable food but the reality is it was unforgettably boring.

When we told the server about it, there was no apology - he actually said that is how they make it?!?!? Let me get this straight, you put choking hazard sized bones in your tacos and don't tell anyone to watch out for them? I've included pics and video so you can see what I am talking about. Tacos are my favorite food on the planet and I've had birria tacos at many, many places (including Mexico) and have never encountered multiple bones in any kind of taco for that matter. Unfortunately their carnitas tacos are dry and flavorless. The Super Taco is still pretty good (no bones), but this and our recent experiences here are making us cross this place off of our rotation going forward. Tortas, thanks for the memories, it was a helluva run, pero no mas.

My wife can be pretty particular when it comes to carne asada, so she was a little hesitant when I suggested we share it. After a few bites, she couldn't get enough! The carne asada was flavorful, tender, and clearly high quality, and the burrito itself was packed with great ingredients and balanced flavors. The added guacamole was the perfect finishing touch. As much as we loved the burrito, Espo's has become a go-to spot for our family because of their Taco Tuesday special. Their 10-taco plate for around $12 is an incredible value, especially for families. We love that you can mix and match between carne asada, carnitas, ground beef, chicken, and shredded beef, making it easy to get something everyone will enjoy.
