Just another taco shop. Plenty of parking & seating. The tacos are good, hot & juicy. Could've used a few more onions & another Serrano as a side but I get it. Server at the counter is sweet with a smile & service was quick.

Authentic casual, no frills Mexican fare in East Mesa. Went there for the Birria tacos and they didn't disappoint. Great lunch! Two Birria tacos and a Mexican Coke for a guaranteed sugar buzz. Wikipedia describes the dish thusly: "Quesabirria is a Tijuana-originating taco that combines cheese with the traditional Mexican beef stew, birria. The dish is similar to a quesadilla or birria taco, and is also known as a quesataco or birria quesadilla. Quesabirria is made by filling tortillas with birria-style beef and cheese, cooking until the cheese melts, and serving with a dipping sauce, often consommé or beef broth." It goes on to say "the tortillas are red-stained and the dish can be messy." CAN CONFIRM!! Grab plenty of napkins before you sit down. There's no charge for extras. Good stuff. Will go back. Hoping to try Don Jose breakfast soon. Will probably need just as many napkins.

The birria tacos were flavorful and I liked the consume they served with it. My pastor and birria taco were eh I like my food salty and I feel like it was lacking a bit, but I will say their salsas were good and added a lot of flavor to the tacos. The spot is in a quiet part of town so the parking lot was empty. Our total came to 42 dollars for two people, a bit pricey but not unheard of.

Disappear the tacos with a quickness!

We found this place while waiting for my Dad who was undergoing a procedure at a nearby surgical center. We hoped for the best and were pleasantly surprised with an excellent meal. The Pozole was beautifully flavorful with just the right amount of spice for us, and the tacos were delicious as well.

We stopped here on one of our excursions. Decided to try the tacos and a Sonoran Hot Dog. The tacos were okay. The hot dog was good and I would say it was above average as far as Sonoran hot dogs go.The staff was super friendly and the restaurant was clean inside. The menu had a ton of options. I thought it was a little bit on the pricey side though. Not sure if I would go back. The food was good but nothing to ride home about.

Well my YELPies, we were on a hunt for some authentic tacos. We found it.. however it left much to be desired. We ordered the #4 Quesabirria. The tacos were soggy before you even used the consome and the beef nor the condone had flavor, or in my world it's called SEASONING . My sweet tooth was TOOTHIN' so of course I had to get my FAV; Strawberry Tres Leche. Uuumm... it left me a bit disappointed as well. It had a chalky taste to it. . What saved this place was the amazing freshly fried Churros! The service was even great for this little spot on Main Street in Mesa. There are ample tables in the dining area but, the condiments area is not the cleanest well supplied area. Normally YELPies... I would say we would try this place again buuuut... not this time. I say try at your own risk or after you may have had some drinks and need something on your stomach. Still on the hunt for tacos!

What is Birria, is it spicy? Thanks?

We started with the green fried tomatoes on sourdough, which were an interesting take and a fun item to try. We also ordered the jambalaya, and while the flavors were decent, it was on the drier side and didn't quite have the rich, saucy consistency I was hoping for. Overall, the food was okay, but I think the atmosphere is what really makes Welcome Diner stand out. I'd definitely come back to enjoy the cute retro vibes and try a few other things on the menu. Sometimes the setting is just as much a part of the experience as the food, and this place definitely has personality. Cute atmosphere, good service, and a fun vibe. Slow on a SUNDAY post-winter visitor rush on a late Spring day. Rushed. I pointed to my 3-6pm dinner choice of TURKEY. I showed her. "Just as it comes. I went with the corned beef hash + pancakes breakfast, and it delivered that old-school diner energy. The hash was hearty and filling, eggs cooked just right, and the pancakes? Soft, golden, and exactly what you expect--nothing fancy, just solid. But let's be clear... the real reason you come here is the pie. Village Inn doesn't play about their pies, and the banana cream pie is the headline act.
