Wanted some Mexican food so I decided to give this place a try. Nice size clean restaurant with friendly staff. Wanted menudo but only one the weekends.. Didn't feel like shelling out $20.95 for shrimp or fish soup so I went the safe route of two tacos special. Went with shredded chicken and beef Tacos. Complimentary salsa and chips were nice and they did a good job making sure I Sala bowl didn't stay empty for long time. Salsa was very tasty. Main dish came and I have to they beans were Luke warm and rice was OK but nothing special. Tacos were yummy, shredded beef and chicken did not have lot of flavor by itself but they were moist. Over all dish was pretty good, nothing out of the ordinary. I do have to say they charge little high for a diet coke.. But my friend ordered that . This place is more 3 and half but not 4 for me. read more

Hubby has been wanting to come back here since we were here last time, so we had dinner here last night. This time he ordered the special which was pastor street tacos with rice & beans. He also ordered a tamale since he really liked it last time. I had the #13 which is 2 Chicken or Beef Rolled Taquitos topped with sour, lettuce, cheese, and guacamole with rice & beans. Our server was a lady that makes the food. I'm guessing one of the owners. She was not a very good server. She did not check on us much. We waited a long time to get our check. Hubby didn't receive the tamale. When hubby told her about the tamale she said they were out of tamales & she forgot to tell him. That's because she never came back to the table. She said she needed to make more of them. They were much busier than the last time we were here. Hubby loved his food. This is his favorite Mex restaurant. I forgot to take any pictures until we had already eaten half our food. I did get a picture of a robot that goes to tables to deliver food with multiple plates & then goes back to the kitchen. read more

We singlehandedly had some of the best service we've ever had at Rio Rico this past Friday. We tried to eat dinner at a different restaurant before stopping by Rio Rico on a Friday night. That restaurant had a 45 minute wait and as we were driving home, we pulled in to Rio Rico to see what their wait time was. While busy, they could still get us in at a booth at 5:30 pm on a Friday night. We sat down and were greeted a few moments later. Our waiter was SO nice! He is the son-in-law of the owners and he informed us that Rio Rico is a family-owned restaurant. They have free chips and salsa and the red salsa was so good! So flavorful and slightly spicy, it was perfect! Their Diet Coke was also spicy and crispy if you know what I mean! My young daughter didn't want to eat anything on the kids menu, but really wanted a breakfast burrito (at almost 6 pm) and the waiter said no problem - and she got a perfect bacon, egg and cheese burrito. It was so nice that they could do that, and they didn't even bat an eye! I had my Mexican restaurant usual, a taco salad, and it was good! I had it with grilled chicken and it was tasty! My only ask - was I wish it came with a dressing and not sour cream, but I failed to ask or mention it. We went home with full bellies and I got to try a new restaurant that was definitely worth the stop in! We will be back and look forward to making Rio Rico our new neighborhood Mexican restaurant!! read more

One of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the East Valley. We have been fortunate to visit hear quite a bit. The service has always been great. I can not think of a time when we have been unhappy with the food. It's a very fun restaurant to enjoy a meal. My wife lives their chicken tortilla soup, enchiladas, and beef tacos. I love their Carne asada quesadilla. I also enjoy their chicken and rice with cream sauce. We will continue to visit here, and bring our grandkids. read more

Weekday late lunch, we were greeted politely, and seated in a booth in the bar area. The ubiquitous chips and salsa were brought immediately with our drinks. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. The restaurant was clean, and relatively quiet. We ordered beef and chicken enchiladas, a chile relleno and a tamale. The food arrived in less than 10 minutes. It was hot, fresh and tasty, beans and rice were very good. Portions were large. Around $45 with tip for lunch. A bit pricey, but not ridiculous. I'd look for lower price options next time, but it was a good meal. read more

It's been a while. I've checked this place out. Couldn't remember if this was a former Mexican restaurant anyway the food here was good. I got the chimichanga with Pollo Finito sauce on it. Rice and beans. Very delicious. Also got a strawberry margarita over rocks which was also very good as well. The service was good Waitress and waitresses came over. Just check on us. Make sure we're good. It wasn't super crowded when we went so the ambience in the place was low enough we could sit there and talk without having to fight over music or anything like that. There's also a robot that brings out your food which I found as kind of a trip but it was kind of cool at the same time. read more

We were nearby for a birthday party and saw this restaurant and decided to check it out for dinner. we are glad we did! It was busy! It was Saturday and we had a little wait but not too bad. Hostess seated us right away and our waitress arrived soon after. We ordered 2 kids meals, chicken fajitas and the Diablo shrimp and queso! Couldn't forget the dessert - fried ice cream! Everything was delicious! The restaurant was moderately lively and food was fast! I'd definitely stop by again when I'm in the area. read more

Attended a Medicare dinner here w/15 other people which we had our own room which was nice. Hostess: gal at front was top notice Food: blah. Had the chili verde and pork was dry and sauce was spicy but really lacked any real flavor. Rice was ok, nothing spectacular ( no peas or anything in it), beans were straight out of a RosaRita can! Server: ok, this was a presentation w/a speaker and our server, Maria was obnoxiously loud! While guy was speaking she'd be yelling out 'what you want to drink?' What are you ordering? Then when food was delivered the real circus began... that idiotic robot server could've done a better job. Maria would grab a plate and yell out 'who has the enchiladas?' This while the presenter was speaking! This went on for 15 min then again w/drinks. Possibly she was upset she had to work the room knowing tips aren't as good or she has to hustle more? I don't know, but it turned us off. We've had better good at Taco Bell. read more

It was my mom's birthday, so we decided to check this place out as we noticed they had moved buildings from when we first moved to Arizona a couple of years ago. We arrived a little before 5 on a Saturday afternoon/evening for an early dinner. We were seated immediately as there were only a couple other parties in there. Right off the bat, our server was phenomenal! He was so outgoing and told us he was also the bartender and would be making our drinks. When he said that, we were worried he'd be overworked since he also had other tables he was managing... as well as making alcoholic drinks... Out worries were confirmed because it did take a while for our drinks to be served. My mom ordered the prickly pear margarita, I ordered the mango margarita, my dad ordered a beer, and my brother ordered a prickly pear mocktail. However, we did get our chips and salsa early on, but it would've been nice to be sipping on our margs while chowing down on the chips and salsa (but, alas). I should've ordered the prickly pear margarita. The mango flavor was all right. However, after it sat out for a while, I noticed the entire drink had become super salty. There was salt on the rim but it was almost like there was salt poured into it as it was being made. It felt like I had pockets of salt in my cheeks as I was sipping on it. Safe to say, I did not finish my drink, unfortunately. The food came out quicker than the drinks, thankfully. They have a good-sized menu with several choices for even the pickiest eater. I ordered a combo plate of a chicken enchilada + guacamole tostada (with a side of rice and beans). Everything was hot and delicious when It arrived at the table! The rice was a little dry for my taste, but the refried beans had a creamy consistency I enjoyed. The enchilada was the best part (not spicy at all, thank god) and the guacamole on my tostada was excellent and mashed to perfection. My mom loved her fajitas - the chicken had a nice sear and great flavor. My dad loved his burrito (which was MASSIVE) - even if the green sauce made him cry lol. My brother ordered grilled chicken nachos and he repeatedly emphasized that this place was different (in the best way) because they actually loaded up his nachos with chicken. The food was a solid 4.5/5, but the short-staffed aspect of it plus my margarita being too salty for consumption will bring this review down to a 4/5 for me. read more

First off service was rather fast and efficient. Friendly staff and they even have a robot bringing food out of the kitchen. Very unique I must say. We enjoyed Rio Rico! Had been looking for a Mexican restaurant we could order takeout from and Rio Rico fit the bill. I had the carne asada plate and my husband had the asada burrito. Both were delicious! The meat was well seasoned and the rice & beans were exactly what I wanted, well seasoned and moist. Prices were reasonable for the portions. Ordering and pickup was super easy. The inside of the restaurant looked lively; we'll definitely dine in next time! read more

Visited at an off time sometime between lunch and dinner so there were plenty of seats available. Our waiter was friendly and playful as well as attentive so we had a nice time. Haven't been to this location since they moved from their old location. It was nice and very spacious. The booth we sat in was a little worn but nothing to complain about. It was a little too early for dinner so got a snack of mini taquitos which was enjoyed alongside fresh made chips and yummy salsa. Don't care for onions so my lunch/dinner companion scored my guacamole. I remember all their portions were quite large so an appetizer was perfectly sized for my appetite. They were kind enough to let me get chicken and beef taquitos so I got to try both flavors. I thought the chicken was a nice change from my usual beef which I enjoyed. There's plenty of parking just outside the door. Give them a visit and remember to bring your appetite with you for a test Anna generously portioned meal! read more

Went in for a 1:00 in the afternoon weekday lunch... Haven't been to this place since they relocated... Ended up walking out after 15 mins having never seen an employee other than the frazzled girl that sat us after we waited for 5 mins at the front desk. There were 6-7 other tables of people on the side we got seated... And another 6-7 dirty tables that were never cleared or bussed. That's never a good sign. So, we sit at the table looking over the menu. No one ever can by. No waiter. No busser with water and chips/salsa... Never saw anyone. After 15min we got up and left. I'm sure they never noticed. read more

It's awesome that Rio Rico was able to move into this free standing building in the same parking lot by the strip mall it used to be located in, and it was about time! The old location was always overcrowded and loud with long wait times due to limited seating. No longer is this an issue as the new building is huge and can handle their customers without cramming them so close together or creating an issue with noise. As usual, the food was amazing and well worth the drive up from Florence. We had the chili verde and the chili Colorado. Both had huge chunks of pork, one in a green sauce and one in red. The chili verde had a nice sweet flavor while the chili Colorado had a little bite to it without being overly spicy. It will be difficult to decide which one to go with next time as they were both great. Double rice will be my next choice though as the beans were a bit bland. The chips and salsa were great and they also have a Queso dip which is not on the menu that you can order. It was a might watered down for my taste unfortunately but that's okay. The main courses, outstanding service , reasonable prices and size of the portions more than make up for it. read more

Food is usually super tasty and hot from the kitchen. Chips, guac and salsa are the best around! FYI: Get your soap dispensers fixed. Our family of five was seated promptly around 5:15 on a Tuesday evening. Chips and salsa were brought out and our drink orders were taken straight away. We weren't quite ready to order yet (big mistake) and the waitress didn't come back for about twenty minutes. Once we did order, we waited about 30 minutes for the food. A different person brought the food (along with a robot that carried the trays) and we didn't see our waitress again. The food tasted like any other Mexican food restaurant. Holy hidden gem that's been around for a while! I've driven past this restaurant a million times and never got around to trying it out. Welp, I made a conscious effort to have lunch here, and it did not disappoint. Service was great, everyone was really nice and even got my lunch delivered by a robot. I was so impressed that I forgot to take an actual photo of my two crispy chicken tacos with rice and beans. Boy, those were flavorful and crispy. Add some of the salsa and guacamole, and it really was top-notch! I also got their mango margarita blended, and that had some decent alcohol. I think next time, I'll take the plunge to get the mangoada, my ultimate favorite. Chips and salsa were really good too, but I have to call special attention to their ceviche...to die for!! Fresh and flavorful, decent chunks of white fish with citrus marinated to perfection. I'd come back just for this appetizer. Give yourself a great meal and come to this place! read more

I ordered from Rio Rico for the first time today for pickup over the phone. When I got to the restaurant my order was about $15 more than I expected. I checked the menu on the website and my bill and the prices of each entree was almost $3+ more per entree. I brought this to the managers attention and was told that they were aware of this and that when I login it notifies customers. I showed the employees at the front that it does not notify customers of price discrepancies and brought up the menu from the website. She said the menu on the front warns customers, by the following statement on the menu: " WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON OUR NEW WEBSITE TO BETTER SERVE OUR CUSTOMERS." I told the lady at the front that this does not warn customers that prices are wrong on their menu. She just shrugged and didn't really care. For this poor customer service I'm giving this place a 1 star. read more

We did a little family dinner on Saturday night, we had family visit us from another state. I will say the environment was nice and the staff was nice but one of our sampler plates which is the appetizer had a hair. It was already to late for them to remake it and bring another because our entrees was being brought out. Then there was a hair on the plate of one of the entrees. They took it back and said they redid it but at that point no body wanted to eat their food and everyone was picking through every bite before eating. They didn't even bother to discount the for the inconvenience of hairs we found. We definitely will not be coming back and will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone. read more

Rio Rico is always quality food for a good price. My favorite is the Carne Asada for $15.95. Very rare these days to find such a great dish with guacamole to boot for under $20.
