This is probably the fastest I've done a review. Almost as fast as our service was. For coming in at around 8 on a Saturday night, the service was quick and friendly. Like when I say quick, from the minute we got our chips & salsa to when we got out meal was about 5 minutes! The mood is casual, and the place is clean and very authentic (this is coming from a gringo mind you) and as always if you have read any of my reviews, you know my one complaint: Pepsi products. They did have Dr. Pepper, but no diet. That being said, I had tea and when I asked the server for a handful of lemons, I got a whole plate that looked to be about a lemon and 1/2 cut up. Usually when I ask for a handful of lemons, I get 3 thinly sliced pieces. So, I can't fault them for that. Will we go back? Absolutely. I can't believe it's taken me this long to go here. read more

Well you definitely get a large portion of food when you order here. You get chips with salsa and bean dip for the table as soon as you sit down. Yum. I was surprised that for Cinco de Mayo and Taco Tuesday they didn't have more options and better deals. They were pretty busy for a lunch crowd and seemed like a lot of locals and return customers. When trying international cuisine it says a lot when the clients are from that culture because that means the flavors remind them of home. That was not the case here. Staff was wonderful , food was average, Margaritas needed more salt on the rim or at least make the attempt to cover the whole rim with it. Glad we tried it but probably wont be back. read more

Two stars due to the servers, they were kind. Unfortunately, the food was not enjoyable-the only thing we liked were the chips and beans. It was a rainy day, and the manager explained that the sewage smell throughout the restaurant was caused by the weather. Regardless of the reason, the location clearly needs major updates. The booth seats had an unpleasant, gunky odor that seemed to be covered with Lysol. There were car and bathroom fresheners placed in the vents and along the wood panels near the ceiling, which made the smell even more noticeable. I will not be returning unless the restaurant makes significant improvements. read more

Finally got to try Garcia's out! Heard good things from a friend so decided to take a drive to see if it was as great as she had said!! Walking in I loved the decoration on the walls, very fun vibrate and full of culture! The hostess was very kind and accommodating. The waitress who's been there for well over 20 years was extremely sweet and friendly! Loved the extra big bowl of chips with the side of spicy bean dip and some good chunky salsa! Also the cups they give your drinks in are extra large too!! I ordered the #3! Big plate but I wanted options and to see what I liked best! Everything on my plate was very tasty! Loved it all My friend ordered a taco and enchilada plate well my son got a bean burrito and rice and beans on the side! They loved their plates too! We've been here twice so far & both times the food has been fantastic. The first time we came we ate in restaurant, however this last time we decided to order pick up and eat at a relatives house. Everything was ready quickly, from the point of ordering to when we arrived to grab the food it took about 15 minutes for them to make an order for seven people. Everyone was happy with their food, it was hot, delicious and full of flavor. I can be pretty picky when it comes to chicken at restaurants, but I found it to be cooked perfectly. In fact they have one of my favorite dishes from Mexican restaurants I've tried here in AZ, I love their Pollo Fundido. We also received chips & salsa with our to go order. Everything was a good serving size, many of the dishes come with two sides. I like the consistency of the refried beans they serve, a lot of mexican restaurants tend to serve refried beans that are too thick, not cooked all the way through and don't really have a lot of flavor, but I like the beans they have here. They also have black beans or charro beans if you want something other than refried beans. The chocolate mini chimis were amazing too! This was quite an average Mexican food experience. The service was okay, it took a while for us to get our order taken, for our food to get there, but it took a while for us to get the check. There was a little kiosk think at the table, but they didn't tell us we could use it to pay until like 20 minutes after we finished eating. The vibe is fine, nothing crazy inside. I ordered a burrito with green Chile (which is pork but it doesn't tell you that on the menu). It came with rice and beans, and it was all super average. I would probably not go back because if I'm going to go out to eat and pay for a meal, I want it to be at least really good. I did like that they gave you chips and salsa when you sit down. I will not return, in hopes I can find really good Mexican food elsewhere. read more

We had not been to Garcia's in a long time--maybe 15 years??? We decided to give it another try, and came early, around 5:00. It was already busy and we were told it would be about 25 minutes for our group of 6. It's only took about 10 minutes and we got a table in the cantina. I suspected that there would be an older crowd at that time of day and, boy, was I right! It's was mainly the over 65 crowd, both sitting at the bar and in the dining room. As we were leaving a little later, it did look like like younger families and couples were arriving. We ordered margaritas, which were on the happy hour menu and only $7. They were good. We also got complimentary chips with salsa and bean dip. Yummy. We all got different items, and everyone was happy with their food. I will say that for the prices, the portions are huge! Due to the fact that Garcia isn't very close to where I'm located. It's been quite a while since I've visited. I'm glad I did tonight. I forgot how good their bean dip and salsa is and how big their bowl of chips are. I ordered a cheese crisp to start, which was great. The cheese had a very good flavor and it was nice and crispy, but not super oily like a lot of other places for my entrée I ordered the three item combo of my choice which consisted of a green chili burrito, a green corn, tamale, and a chile relleno. I think my favorite was the green chili burrito. The corn tamale was good, but it was very very dense. The chili was great as well. Our server was extremely helpful, nice, and made sure we had everything we needed. It's nice and bright in the interior And from what I saw it was very clean as well. Poor service and even worse food! Saw the waiter twice. He did not check on us and I had to track down where to get water. I ordered an app. that should have had veggies and beef. One side had two small pieces of beef and some cheese. Nothing else. The other side (2 sides to the tortilla) had four pieces of beef and one piece of onion, along with the cheese. We have been regular customers of this Garcias for most family birthday outings. However, either I am growing more attentive to mistakes, or this Garcias is getting sloppy. We were surprised when we walked in on a Friday night around 6pm and there was no wait for our party of 4. They led us to a roomy booth where it felt we waited FOREVER to be recognized by a server. Our drink order was submitted and fulfilled before we even got the chips and salsa/bean dip. One member of our party asked for an Arnold Palmer, but got straight unsweet tea (which yes can be an honest mistake, but our server didn't give us too friendly of an impression, hence our hesitation to bring up the drink error). Later while snacking on my chips, I found a hair on them :( I am not one to make a big deal out of these things, it was very tiny and did not seem like a head hair (honestly was tiny and straight and thin, reminding me of a dog hair), but I waved the chip around to make sure it wasn't one of mine and sure enough, it was stuck to the chip. Anyways, my plate of two street tacos, rice and beans ($15.99) was pretty bland. Again, I am NOT super high maintenance and picky but I expect my Mexican to be flavorful. The chicken seemed unseasoned. The rice and beans were fine. Some things to note, is that they do NOT take checks, add gratuity to parties larger than 8 or more, and (NEW!) will charge someone $6.99 if they come in for the free chips/salsa and don't buy any menu items. We usually have great experiences at this Garcias, so maybe it was just an off night for them. We will probably return!!! read more

Just did Happy Hour at Garcia's. Freddy was a wonderful attentive waiter BUT as we are eating a lady comes in the back gate carrying her DOG. He sits beside her until it is time to take him to potty which she walks him out the gate into the grass maybe 2 feet away and he relieves himself. My husband and I ate at Garcias. It has been a long time since we have eaten here. I love their bean dip and Magnífico Margarita. Having said that it is important to know that even if you are there during Happy Hour, they only give you Happy Hour prices if you sit on the Cantina side. Carlos is an excellent server. The veggie bowl had great flavor. Carlos gave me just what I wanted with a good attitude. I ordered the vegetable fajitas and a broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, carrot blend over pinto peas with the tortilla on the side. The restaurant is beautiful and comfortable. We are snowbirds here from Oregon Jan-April. This was our second year. I would have to say this is one of most favorite places and out of 11 weeks we have eaten here at least 10 times. When we go into a New Mexican restaurant our first test is how the chips and salsa are. This place is top of the chart. The drinks, the food, the staff are all quite exceptional. Highly recommend going here. They are quite busy every time we've gone but somehow we get seated right away every time. Last week the next day my wife couldn't find her sunglasses & case. Overall, the food isn't anything spectacular and I was shocked to see in small print at the bottom of the menu that if you didn't order an entree that they charge $5.49 for chips and salsa. There are lots of choices in the area, and overall I would likely choose another as the food quality is better, which is a shame as the location is pretty. Perhaps worth checking out the cantina versus the restaurant next time as happy hour only applies in there? read more

Lunch with my gal pals was a lot of fun here and our waitress was a lot of fun and always checking in on us, keeping the drinks flowing. I had a Taco Salad and it was very good! Loved the Southwest Ranch dressing that came with it. Kristy had tamales. Melanie had a combo plate, & Dina had a taco that was very full and looked really good! Our server Fabian was extremely rude and inconvenienced that we were there. Food was terrible. Microwaved plate but the food was cold and not at all appetizing or appealing. When Fabian realized we weren't eating the food, he was even more short toned and put off that we were not satisfied. Although the food situation was not his fault, I didn't complain but asked for the check with all intentions on paying for the meal and leaving. He adamantly got the manager which wasn't even asked for, and instead of trying to make the situation better, the manager Angela, was very condescending and rude and didn't even bother offering to remove the food that wasn't even touched. Mediocre Mexican food at best; Filiberto's level quality in a cuter atmosphere. Good lunch deals M-Fri 11am-3pm. Generous portions. The atmosphere is cute for a lunch/date and the complimentary chips and salsa/chips and bean dip are a nice touch. The salsa and bean dip are mildly spicy, but enjoyable. We were there this afternoon and the food and service were great. I had the steak and chicken fajitas and the seasoning was point on and good and hot. My fiancé had the red chili Colorado and said that was awesome as well. The happy hour prices look amazing so we will have to try again soon.
