Chicken, rice and beans and all salsas were really good. Very satisfying meal and will go again. Service was friendly. Chicken is what they are doing and the chicken was crispy, well seasoned and fell off the bone. Was not a big fan of the carne asada, it was a bit chewy and bland compared Dontae chicken.
I've been to this place multiple times. In fact it is on our weekly rotation because it is THAT GOOD. We have gotten their carne asada before which is also really good, but we order chicken most of the time. The chicken is very crispy and flavorful. Their flour and corn tortillas are always fresh and so good. We love the guacamole, the rice, beans and the sauce that comes with it. The owner is friendly. They have plenty of seating inside. This place is located right next to the Dollar Store.
I'm going to have to just call it out for what it is. I think this was a racial act. I ordered a meal and I asked for beans and a macaroni salad to go. I get it to go. And when I get home to open this bag that was tied together. An alarming amount of gnats flew out of the bag. I was like there is no way this was unintentional. When I open the bag my order is wrong. I got rice instead of the macaroni salad I ordered. I shrug it off like whatever it's all good. I start EATING THE RICE AND SURE ENOUGH THERE IS BUGS IN THE RICE. MIND YOU THE RICE WAS IN A SEALED CONTAINER inside the bag. I have no other choice but to compound this event with a wide range of other events I've experienced throughout my life within the Mexican community. From being charged more because I'm black, to receiving less portions of what I've payed for because I'm black. All of my Mexican friends had to bring this to my attention because I've chalked these experiences up to a simple mistake. But they reassured me it's not. We've compared prices for the same items. And portions for the same meals, and overall quality of food and things are always worse for me. This is another unfortunate experience. But I get the message now.
I've gone here a couple times now and I think it's time for a review. The food here has always been amazing. It's a pretty quick dish out depending on the order. If you're looking for some great side carne asada tacos i'd recommend here. It's a small shop in the corner of a plaza right next to dollar tree. Very clean as well
This place hit the spot! You can smell the smoker as you walk up to the little restaurant. We ordered polo tacos and burritos. Everything had great flavor, but docking a star because chicken was a little dry. The horchata was good. Staff were friendly. Plenty of seating and parking.
Since Pollo Picante closed I figure I give this place a try. Ordered the full chicken dinner combo wich came with 2 sides (rice and beans). Also ordered side of guac and pickled onion. Large Jamaica for drink. Chicken was very yummy, nice crispy skin with nice charred flavor. Bean was soupy style but tasted good. Rice was very blend and lacked flavor, guac was pretty good and so was green salsa. The corn tortilla that came with the meal was also very yummy. Jamaica was tasty except large looked like medium size compare to other places. I wanted to give this place 4 stars but had issues with the kid that took our order. Friendly enough but main issue was that he was eating fast food and he took our order and did not wash his hand as he prepped our food and handed to us. Double whammy was when he went back to eat his fries and next customer came to order he licked his fingers and prepped the next customers food without washing his hands. Good thing he saved the finger licking for next customer and not my food.. I feel bad for giving this place 3 instead if 4 stars but how the food was prepped was not impressive. I will give this place another chance next time I have craving for chicken. This place is just as good as Pollo Lucas at Rocky Pt Mexico.
I'm floored on how great this food is and that it rarely gets talked about!! Absolutely floored!! Im guessing that since it's tucked away back in the corner of a strip mall next to a Dollar Store and a permanently closed grocery store no one sees it! I got the Half Campechano with a tamale on the side. The carna asada and the chicken were grilled perfectly!! Love this new spot??
Hidden gem! Straight out of Mexico.. Little place in the corner, very authentic. Self made tables & trash can, not a problem. Ordered 2 Carne asada tacos on flour tortillas. came out quick with a roasted jalapeño! YES Salsa was good. give this place a try, walk past the new corporate taco place.. come here
A very underrated gem of a restaurant that serves affordable and just delicious grilled chicken. We ordered the whole chicken with 2 sides and 2 drinks (hibiscus tea) came out to be $32 and we even had a full left over. Service is fast and easy. I highly recommend the grilled chicken. It has that nice smoky taste and texture is not dry. The hibiscus tea is served on ice and very refreshing, not too sweet. The restaurant is kind of tucked in the back corner of the plaza and inside it is nicely decorated and is clean.
This is the second time that I have been here. It's really far from my house so I thought that I would hit it up while in the area to introduce my wife. We both love Pollo Lucas in Rocky Point and Pollos LaChuya is the only mesquite grilled pollo in the valley that comes close to Pollo Lucas. We ordered the whole chicken that comes with corn tortillas, two large sides, we got rice and beans, pickled red onions, grilled jalapeños and limes for $18.99. This time the chicken was a bit dry but still flavorful. The beans come in a broth that they cook in and I'm in love with them. The rice is your typical Spanish rice with green onion thinly sliced into the rice. It's good but I mixed in their fire roasted green salsa. It's amazing. We got extra salsa to take home with our left overs. The whole chicken could feed a family of four although you might want to order two additional sides as they are not huge. Even with the dry chicken I will be back. It happens. It wasn't dry the first time I was here.

First time trying this place, and most definitely the last. Chicken burrito had 5 tiny cubes of chicken; it was more like beans and rice burrito. What a rip off. Update: the owner messaged me and told me to buy an entire chicken. Uh, maybe put some chicken in the chicken burrito? Update #2: The owner sure does like to argue with the customer back and forth. Now, he proposed that I order from Chipotle instead since they fail to give customer what one paid for. Update #3: The owner still going back and forth with me and now claiming I did not pay for the burritos. Not really sure what he means by that. But here is the screen shot of 2 burritos ordered via DoorDash. This is just wild. read more

Stopped by on a Wednesday for dinner. Parking lot is kinda crazy since it's shared with EoS, and plenty of other stores in the strip mall. Friendly staff in a no frills spot. Got the $30 Plato Campechano between 2 ppl (half chicken, half a pound of Carne, flour and corn tortillas, rice, beans from the pot, salsas, grill jalapeños, guacamole, limes, and radishes). Decent amount of food, although the chicken and carne were both a bit dry. I enjoyed the beans and rice, and the additional accouterments. Overall, good flavor and seasonings, just dry protein. Not sure if that would change on a busier day if fresh food was being pumped out, but would be open to checking this place out again! read more

Flamed grilled chicken at its best! The outside aroma filled the air leading me straight to the restaurant where I was amazed by the beautiful interior. With its warm and inviting interior, Pollos LaChuya complements its juicy and flavorful chicken with traditional decorative walls and distinctive wooden tables. Without a doubt, the highlight was the delicious chicken which was served with a wonderfully spicy salsa and a variety of sides. The service was quick and enjoyable, making it perfect for casual dining or special family occasions. I would recommend Pollos LaChuya to all and will be coming back. read more

The food was solid. The chicken was not bad, it was a little over done. So it was a little dry. The asada was kind of dry as well but the flavor was good. It has that Smokey char. Everything was good. Not amazing or mind blowing. I came here with high expectations! Maybe that was the issue. read more

Service was courteous and ambiance average. The food has good flavor but the portions were small and the chicken pieces, tiny. I expected better for an establishment that has 4.5 stars. We're 10 miles away and have many options in between. I would not go out of my way but would revisit if in the area. The meat tacos al carbon were tasty and the meat portion was adequate. The salsa was very good and has a kick! A suggestion for the restaurant's continued success is to consider the portion sizes for the chicken and side dishes. read more

We found this little restaurant after doing a quick search on Yelp and decided to give it a try. First of all, we could smell the smoky meat before even entering the restaurant. That's a good thing! After some deliberation, we decided to share the Plato Campechano and added extra guacamole, salsa and chips. In hindsight, we would have added the pickled onions and maybe some pineapple instead. Not that the guacamole and salsa isn't good, a bit of tang would have added to meal. I liked the chicken the best and my husband really enjoyed the steak the most, which worked out perfect! Everything tasted fresh but the meat was the star. If we are ever in the area again we would be happy to eat here again. read more

I don't even have a picture of the food because is was so good I couldn't stop myself to take the pic. But don't worry, I'll be back and take some. We got the whole chicken with mashed potatoes and pasta salad. The chicken is insanely good. I'm not even a chicken person and it was salty and crispy and juicy with so much flavor. We put the mashed potatoes on the tortillas with salsa, a roasted pepper, and the meat. Best taco of my life. The 1/4 chicken with 1/4 steak is enough for 2 people if you aren't starving, else get the 1/2 portions. The steak was seasoned perfectly and crispy perfect for a taco. The rice is ok. The grilled pineapple is delightful and is awesome added to the taco. Get extra salsa - it's delicious. We recently moved to the area and will be coming here at least once a week I am sure. It's about $15 for a meal for 2 - can't beat it! read more

Smokey flavors, great value and good vibes. Affordable family meals, bad location but keeps it not so crowded! If this place were in Tempe or Scottsdale there'd be a line out the door read more

I had a terrible experience at Pollos La Chuya. I specifically asked for fresh chicken waited 1 hour, but they gave me pre-cooked meat anyway. It was obvious from the texture and flavor that it wasn't freshly grilled. I don't understand why they would ignore a customer's request like that. The chicken was dry, flavorless, and disappointing. I've had better at fast food joints. I won't be returning. If you want fresh, properly cooked chicken, do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Employees were also very rude and laughed to my face! read more

An okay place. The chicken and rice and guacamole is good. Bought chips and salsa and the salsa was so spicy! You rather eat it with guacamole. I got the 1/2 pollo with rice and macaroni salad. The rice and chicken is good. The macaroni salad not my favorite. My brother got the burrito. It was okay. My sister got the tacos. Not that tasty and they were dry. We got asada tacos. The flan was super sweet. read more
