The food was amazing and not overly priced. Small stand with picnic tables to eat there or a drive through to pickup orders you can call ahead. Service was quick and nothing was missing from our meal. Highly recommend for a mesquite grilled chicken meal.

3 chicken tacos and 1 carne asada with a cheese quesadilla

In central Mesa you will find the Picante Grill. This place is excellent for large family sizes orders. They specialise in charcoal grilled chicken. Decided to take a seat at one of the picnic tables on the patio on a nice day. Ordered some chicken tacos, one carne asada and a cheese quesadilla. The quesadilla was one of the best I've had, delicious cheese and tortilla, made fresh. The house salsa was not too spicy and made fresh daily. The tacos were excellent as well. Chicken was very tasty with lots of guacamole and made with a unique marinade. The carne asada was excellent. A great spot for tacos or a mesquite roasted chicken to go spot. Service was friendly and prompt.

So ive been a regular customer for years, it was always one of my favorites. I dont know if management changed or whats going on but the quality has dropped tremendously over the course of the last few months. Went last night for tacos de tripa and was disappointed again, over cooked tripa, one tortilla per taco, no cilantro and onions on the side that we asked for, jalapeno looks like they just dipped in the fryer and threw in the box, no fried onions like they used to have. For 4 dollars a taco i expect it to be top notch. Wont be back very unfortunately.

We've been wanting to stop by this place for quite awhile; however, it only has outdoor seating and as all you Arizonans know... IT'S BEEN TOO DAMN HOT TO SIT OUTSIDE!! With cooler temperatures finally coming around, we stopped today. We were welcomed by the gentlemen inside and he gave us some recommendations. We went with the 1/4 of a chicken, which came with beans, rice, salsa & tortillas and the Chicken Rolled Tacos!! Both were huge servings and delicious. We will definitely go back and if you're ever in the neighborhood, stop by!!

We drove here from Queen Creek because of the ratings. The smell of the grilled meet greets you as you approach. The seating is outside, but it was a nice evening. The Carne Asada was outstanding. The chips were unique and delicious. My gf had the carne asada quesadilla and the grilled elote. Both excellent. Plus they play 80's music. Nice. Oh the Churros were the 2nd best churros ever. The best were in a small village near Cancun.

Cool little spot with outdoor seating. Ordered asada and pastor. The pastor was really good! Asada was good nothing too crazy but decent. Would come back for the pastor alone. Kids got a cheese quesadilla with some side veggies that they liked. Would definitely eat here again and try something else on the menu.

Hands down best food I have EVER had! I ordered drive through and everything on the menu looked mouthwatering. We ordered chicken vampiros. Oh my goodness it was so delicious. There was a nice crunch. It was so cheesy and had guacamole drizzled on top mmmm mmm mmmmmm. We also had an order of carne asada fries, the fries are crinkle cut and they were perfect. I would pick these over Filiberto's any day. I'm excited to take my son back to try them because he loves carne asada fries and I know he will enjoy these. These prior reviews don't do this place justice. It's not a sit down restaurant but it's better than Taco Bell and jack in the box.

Carne Asada Burrito & sauces they give you 5/2023

Decent spot if you wanna grab a quick bite through a drive thru but don't want fast food. The team members were super friendly which is a plus. My carne asada burrito was a good size for the price & I liked that they gave me a grilled pepper with my burrito (it wasn't spicy). It was an above average carne asada burrito for the area & will probably try it again. It was lacking flavor with it only having asada, grilled, onions & cabbage (that's all I could see & taste) it would have been better with either quac, sour cream, cheese or some sort of salsa inside. I used to really like A-burrito that used to be in this location & felt they had more going on in their burritos, I'll give these guys another shot though.

Picante Grill grill chicken is on point! All the sides are really good too. Must try the beans and the macaroni and cheese (a little spice on the Mac is just right). I also get the carne asada and look under the amazing steak and you find the yummy grilled onions. Lastly, ask for chips and salsa. The chips are made to order and salsa is made fresh every day. Eat on site, walk up and take out or drive thru. There is no reason not to check this place out. Staff and owners are great people! Restaurant is very clean and service is amazing. Great experience each week I come by.

The quality really stands out--especially the homemade tortillas, which take everything to the next level. The al pastor and carne asada are both incredible, packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. I also love that the al pastor is cooked authentically on a spit, which really adds to the flavor and experience. There's also a great variety of options on the menu, so there's something for everyone. Service is consistently quick, even when it's busy, which makes it a great spot whether you're grabbing a quick meal or sitting down to enjoy your food. Their Taco Tuesday deal is also a huge win--great value without sacrificing quality, and it keeps us coming back regularly. And the salsa deserves its own shoutout--absolutely incredible! It's packed with flavor and honestly good enough that you could enjoy it on its own. It really takes everything to the next level. If you're looking for authentic-style tacos with great flavor, fresh ingredients, fast service, and awesome specials, Tacos Tijuana is a must-visit. Easily one of my top spots in the area!

Update: the owner messaged me and told me to buy an entire chicken. Uh, maybe put some chicken in the chicken burrito? Update #2: The owner sure does like to argue with the customer back and forth. Now, he proposed that I order from Chipotle instead since they fail to give customer what one paid for. Update #3: The owner still going back and forth with me and now claiming I did not pay for the burritos. Not really sure what he means by that. But here is the screen shot of 2 burritos ordered via DoorDash. This is just wild.

Got the $30 Plato Campechano between 2 ppl (half chicken, half a pound of Carne, flour and corn tortillas, rice, beans from the pot, salsas, grill jalapeños, guacamole, limes, and radishes). Decent amount of food, although the chicken and carne were both a bit dry. I enjoyed the beans and rice, and the additional accouterments. Overall, good flavor and seasonings, just dry protein. Not sure if that would change on a busier day if fresh food was being pumped out, but would be open to checking this place out again!

Sometimes the best meals happen because your original plan falls through. That was exactly the case…read morehere, and honestly... I'm not even a little mad about it. I ordered the veggie tacos with roasted sweet potatoes (skin on, which was absolutely the right call), pepitas, feta, and all the right toppings. Whoever prepped those sweet potatoes deserves a raise because they were cut into the perfect sized pieces. Every bite had a little sweetness, a little crunch, a little saltiness... it just worked. My dining partner ordered the barbacoa tacos, and I didn't even have to ask if they were good. The involuntary "Mmm..." after the first bite answered that question. Four tacos disappeared in record time, followed by, "I could've eaten two more." That's about as glowing of a review as you're going to get. Now let's talk about these tortillas. Handmade. Corn. Tortillas. Are you kidding me? They're the kind of tortillas that had me question every tortilla I've ever eaten. Soft, fresh, and somehow they manage to steal the spotlight even with everything else on the plate being so good. The chips and guacamole were excellent, too. The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The salsa that came with them had this smoky, fire-roasted, chipotle flavor that kept me reaching for another chip... and then another... and then suddenly I realized I'd eaten way more chips than I intended. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. I kept tasting them individually thinking, "Okay, these are alright." Then I started mixing them. Game over. On their own, each one was solid. Mixed together? That was the magic. I don't know if that's what they intended or if I accidentally stumbled onto the perfect combination, but from that point on, every taco got the salsa trio treatment. The only tiny hiccup was when we first walked in. We were greeted, asked if we wanted menus, and sat ourselves. We waited for a bit thinking someone would come take our order, only to realize it's actually counter service. Once we figured that out, everything was smooth sailing. Not a big deal at all... just something first-time visitors might want to know. Follow the sign "order here" I also loved the layout. You can actually watch them making the food, which somehow makes the wait even harder because everything smells incredible. Two tacos ended up being the perfect light meal for me. Could I have eaten ten? Absolutely. Those two statements can both be true. Meanwhile, my dining partner polished off four barbacoa tacos and was talking about ordering two more. We only ended up here because another place happened to be closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. This ended up being one of those meals we keep talked about on the drive home. Oh and the bathrooms?. I walked in and immediately thought, "Whoa... this is a cool bathroom" The lighting had this pinkish-purple glow that made me feel like I'd accidentally wandered into a trendy lounge instead of a taco shop. I honestly wasn't even sure there was regular lighting in there and I didn't look... because the vibe seemed so intentional. Finally, the music. .. upbeat, dance-worthy, the kind that had me bouncing in my seat while waiting for my food. Between the atmosphere, the lighting, and the music, the whole place had me want to hang out a little longer. Zero regrets. I'll absolutely be back... and next time I'm ordering more tacos.

First of all, eating anywhere in Tempe, starts with a frustrating time.... Trying to find parking and having to pay to park. I don't understand why restaurants don't have parking for customers. Idk maybe I don't know where to look. Second, it's hot AF in here. I feel sorry for the guys cooking. It's 105 today and the restaurant is so small, it's probably impossible to keep cool during the summer. Finally, the food. It all tastes very fresh! NO SEED OILS is amazing. I feel like I have won something when I find a restaurant that uses olive oil and beef tallow to cook in. Best corn tortillas I have had for sure. We basically tried one of each taco. (Although some of the tacos we ordered were wrong, so we just kept adding) not a big deal, because they were delicious and we loved them. I felt like the carne was chewy but my husband loves chewier meat. The taco with the marlin was my favorite. And the one that came out kind of like a cheese crisp. It's loud in here and again the space is very small. They do not serve wine at all. But yummy margaritas! The bartender is working solo and working hard! She busted her butt and did an amazing job. And smiled the entire time. She was awesome
