This has been on my list to try and I don't know what's taken so long, but I'll be back soon! I came with a friend and my dog, so I stayed outside while she ordered. They have two nice high tables outside with padded chairs that were shaded mid-day. They even brought our food out to the table for us, with sauces and napkins - very nice! The young woman who brought it out was very friendly and made sure we had what we needed. I got 2 carne asada soft tacos and they were delicious. We also got some chips and salsa which they made fresh for our order. The salsa could be a bit spicier for my preference but easily solved with the red taco sauce they brought out in the bottle. We stopped by for lunch since I saw this place had good reviews and it's right by my house. The chicken taco was the best chicken taco I'd ever tasted. So juicy! The sauces were delicious as well and the tres leches cake was amazing. I got a limonada and my husband got horchata and both were some of the best I've had. The Mexican rice wasn't my favorite I've tried but it was good. The prices were reasonable, the workers were very friendly and greeted us right as we came in. The food came out quickly as well! I got the shredded chicken taco plate with soft tacos it came with rice and beans and a few chips on the side. The chips tasted fresh and had great flavor. The entire plate had great flavors l. The beans were creamy and cheesy mixed with the rice had great flavors. The chicken was juicy flavorful and really fell apart in my mouth. They have a nice little patio that I ate on. The inside looked nice but seemed like they were in the process of cleaning so I decided to be out of the way on the patio. The portion was a decent size for 15$. I have been to Sahuaro's twice. The first was for lunch and food was delicious. The homemade Jamaica was good too. The service was quick at the counter and prompt when serving the food at our table. Not a comfortable place. Very small and STUFFY! They have NO air conditioning and NO rest rooms! The food quality is pretty good, which is why I would have given it 1.5 stars, but everything down to the chips, salsa and sour cream is priced a la carte and it feels like being nickel and dimed. The service was just awful. My server, who I believe was also the manager, served me after serving everyone else who came into the restaurant after me and had to go looking for my order, which apparently got lost! I had to ask her for a fork, then I had to ask her for a knife, then I had to ask her for more napkins. Not very thoughtful or experienced in restaurant service. read more

Good local taco joint. Very clean inside and the staff are nice. Bummed out that they don't have the self serve topping bar so you can add extra stuff on top. Delicious authentic Mexican food from the North of Mexico. Everything I've tried has been amazing. My current favorite is caldo de res which comes with a side of rice and tortillas. Their horchata is to die for, I always get the large which is huge. Breakfast burritos are also a favorite. It's a casual spot, it always looks clean, and it's nicely decorated with saguaro motives. We originally planned to go to Bikini Beans, but the food smelled so amazing coming from one building over, so we reversed right out of the Bikini Beans drive thru and into a parking spot in front if this place. The place itself is in the same building as a car wash, so it was small but clean and spacious for the most part. There's not a lot of tables, so I can only imagine what a weekday lunch hour looks like. The girl at the counter was nice and patient as I had to take time to look at the menu for a minute. Luckily, there was no one behind us. I got the horchata, which was perfect. Lightly sweet with rice milk and cinnamon. Just right proportions. For food, I got the Carne asada plate, which was delicious. The meat was cooked well, with full flavor. I loved the touch of jalapeños. The rice and beans, which aren't pictured because I dug in the moment my plate hit the table, were also very good. My husband finished his chorizo burrito without one word being spoken in between, and the menudo was also very tasty. It's been a while since we found a place that not only has great good, but great sauces, as well, and this place had both. The green sauce had a perfect semi-spicey kick to it. The red sauce was also very good with a different type of spice flare, but just as good. Will be back soon. read more

Happy days! Finally found our new favorite taco shop! After moving to Mesa recently, we have been on the hunt for a new favorite taco shop. This place is down the street from us in an unsuspecting little shopping center. 1) Tacos - We ordered pastor, carne asada, and cabeza tacos! Woow, we loved each of them! The taco meat were beautifully seasoned and tender with plenty of fresh onions and cilantro to bring that level of bright freshness. 2) Chorizo Burrito - We couldn't resist getting a couple chorizo breakfast burritos. Super satisfying and delicious, my kind of breakfast! Their sauce bar wasn't available at the time, so we just used the sauce they included in our order. Neither the green nor the red were spicy, but still was a lovely balance to the heavier burrito. This is definitely a smaller family owned restaurant, so don't expect your food immediately but they definitely make everything fresh! So everything comes out nice and toasty! read more

I brought my family here for Friday night Tacos on a recommendation of a work mate. Im not a huge fan of Al Pastor but it was delicious here. It wasn't acidic and charred just perfectly. I talked to the owner, Felix, and he mentioned it was a family owned restaurant using family recipes. I had 6 tacos like the pig I am. La Ericka had 3 without the tortillas. Rian had two plain tacos and Kamila had a tamale. They had caldito on the menu that i wanted to try but was too full. This is right around the corner from my house so I'll be back. read more

Family owned business and they do such a great job!!! This review is on the breakfast burritos as I have not tried the other menu. They always do a great job with exactly how you would like the burrito. They make it a point to know their customers and it keeps people coming back. They have the best green salsa I've ever had! I always get the ham, egg and potatoes, extra ham and ask for Mexican eggs in it (onion, tomatoes, jalapeños). The fresh made drinks are also amazing. I get the pineapple and split it with sprite. Picked up some takeout from here on Thursday for my husband and I. We were intrigued by the low prices and mostly good reviews! My husband got carne asada tacos and a large container of rice. We shared a quesadilla and chips and salsa. I got a veggie burrito. We got a lot of food for not too much money which was great! Also I loved that it was nice and clean in there. Our main issue was that our food was really bland. My husbands rice was mushy. We both found ourselves dousing our meals with hot sauce/salsa just to give it a little flavor. I know you're expecting a taco pun that'll give you a bad queso the giggles but not this time! ;) But if you don't like tacos, I'm nacho type. Ba-dum-tss! Seeing Omari D.'s picture of some pastor tacos and pescado tacos sent me wandering into Sahuaro's on a cold Thursday evening. It was empty at 7PM but that's fine by me. It gave me more time to look over their menu. And while Omari had told me to stick with the pastor tacos, I was really interested in the fish tacos too. So we ordered a green chili burrito with nopales, two pescado tacos, two al pastor tacos, and a side of beans. I gotta say, I should have listened to Omari. The pastor tacos had good flavor, it was packed full of meat, and I loved it. The fish tacos on the other hand were ridiculously fishy. Even with all the hot sauce, lime, and vegetables on the taco, that fish just cut through. It was a hostile taco-ver of fishiness that I was not about! Don't get their fish tacos! As for the burrito, it was a modest size but I love that they offer nopales here. The beans were okay as well. Do get some horchata or jamaica to wash down your food. All in all, I'd come back for their pastor tacos but I'd probably skip everything else. The prices are decent, the staff is friendly, and it was a really clean place. read more

Craving some tacos and decided to get my car washed along with hitting up this well-known local spot. Car wash was getting ready to close but that didn't stop us from going inside grabbing some tacos. First thing that drew my attention was the salsa bar & drinks... they looked refreshing & good. When I say drinks, soft drinks, fresh lemonade, horchata, and bottled sodas. Got a total of 4 tacos... 3 soft and 1 hard. The hard we kept simple with chicken and it came with lettuce, cheese and tomatoes. For the 3 soft, I went with carne asana, fish and the sahuaro taco which is as carne with tomatoes. 3 tacos had a nice flavor and the salsa bar consisted of nice items such as lemons & limes, cucumbers, onions cilantro, pico de gallo, salsa and a few other items. we also got a side of chips & salsa for $2 more at the end. The saucer they had I believe is similar to the one at the salsa bar but it was good and had a little bit of spicy kick to it (but not real spicy). Definitely see myself coming back here when I'm craving a taco as the prices are decent and the flavors were good. This place has the best carnitas tacos!!! I stumbled across it when I was just trying to get some coffee from bikini beans. I went in and ordered 4 tacos, carnitas, barbacoa and asada. Hands down the carnitas was the best followed by barbacoa and carne asada in my opinion. They had a bunch of salsas to choose from on the wall. They were also so attentive!!! I didn't get to try their waters but definitely will leave the coffee out next time and try their Pina or horchata water next time!!!
