This is my go-to neighborhood seafood spot! One of my favorite deals is Wine Wednesday, where all bottles under $100 are 50% off and bottles over $100 are 25% off. My wife and I chose High Tide for a double date, but somehow we ended up dining in what felt like the restaurant version of the Twilight Zone. Things got weird immediately. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated and the hostess cheerfully informed us, "Just as a warning, the air conditioning is dripping on that part of the bench, so you'll probably want to scoot over."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She disappeared before we could process the fact that "sit next to the indoor rainstorm" was apparently a normal seating option. My wife had to chase her down to ask the obvious question. "Could we maybe sit at a table that isn't leaking?" While she was gone, our server came over. I pointed to the puddle beside me and asked if we could move to the empty table in front of us. She looked puzzled and said, "No, that's where it's leaking." I pointed back to the puddle literally touching our table. We were apparently trapped in competing realities. Eventually the manager came over, and asking to move to a dry table was treated like a wildly unreasonable request. After a long pause she said, "I guess we could move you over there. Would that be okay?" My response was, "If it's dry, we'll take it." Unfortunately, the service never recovered. The nightly special was introduced with, "We have trout." That was the entire presentation. No description. No price. Just... trout. When it was time to order, we were greeted with a very enthusiastic, "What do you want?" The finale came when we asked for a box. The same manager returned with a tiny container and said, "I don't know if it'll fit. Do you think it will? I'm not good with Tupperware." I honestly thought Ashton Kutcher was about to jump out from behind a ficus. To top it all off, the portions were surprisingly small for the price, and charging $7 for bread felt like the final plot twist. I've had disappointing meals before. I've had mediocre service before. I've just never had an entire evening feel like everyone had been handed different copies of the script. Needless to say, I don't think we'll be back. read more

Upon walking in the hostess with dirty blonde long hair just glared at me. She didn't smile, didn't say a single word, she just stared as if I was the most annoying thing in her day. I approached the counter she was behind and asked if I could have a table for one. I then clarified that I would prefer a booth as the area the chairs were located has people constantly walk behind you and that triggers my PTSD a bit. The girl looked me in the eye and grumbled ok and told me to follow her. She led me to a table with chairs. If there were no booths available I would have waited, but I didn't say anything. Maybe a single person wasn't allowed a booth. She dropped the menu and walked away, never said a single thing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself was very cramped. I know it's a seafood restaurant, but that doesn't mean you need to treat your customers like sardines in a tin. It's definitely positioned to fix maximum attendance without comfort in mind.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waitress I had was kind and sweet, very professional. She refilled the drinks I had quickly enough. The whole experience was quite slow, it took me about 90 minutes from entry to paying my bill, which felt like is longer than the amount of customers inside would warrant. The main issue I had was the quantity of food. It's hard to fault the place too much for this. They aren't trying to deceive you, but they are using every legal marketing technique at their disposal to hide how much food you actually get. When you order scallops at a place like Red Lobster you get a skewer of them, even other high end places like Osaka. However, here you get a scallop. Yes, a singular scallop. There's no note saying it's that price per scallop. No description saying this is a single scallop. The word isn't plural, but my first thought wasn't a, "oh a restaurant would serve a single scallop at a time." The menu price is also high enough where assuming you get a skewer of scallops isn't unreasonable. So yes, it is on me to not analyze the menu appropriately, but regardless I still felt remarkably disappointed after the long wait and huge bill with the amount of food I received. I also got some crab legs as well, it was a crab happy hour at the time. I ordered the Entree and while yes, it said 1/2 lb, I don't order crab legs enough to realize half a pound of crab legs is two. That's like four bites of meat. I figured the word Entree and the $75 price tag was enough to indicate that this was enough to feed a full grown adult. I was wrong. When you order crab legs at any other restaurant, you get enough for a meal. This wasn't even enough for an appetizer. The sides themselves were also quite disappointing. I got a smashed potato or something, which is quite literally what it sounds like. A baked potato they smashed into a cup. Not expertly cooked or seasoned with awesome toppings, just a generic potato. Then the most average baked mac and cheese imaginable littered with bread crumbs to try to mask its cheap taste. I left with a $125 bill after tip. To me, that's an insane price to pay for this amount of food and essentially leaving hungry. Considering nothing on this table requires an expert chef to make they are asking for too much. May as well go somewhere cheaper. I mean its crab... it's not like they season it or anything. We absolutely loved the high tide location on Val vista when we lived in Gilbert. Went often and always had great experiences. Then, we moved to Chandler and were so excited to be a mile away from the Steelyard location. The last 3 times we have ordered to-go food, the lobster Mac and cheese (our FAVORITE) has been sorely lacking. The lobster portion was considerably smaller, the pasta was hard and dry. Really skimped on the cheese sauce. We decided to give them another shot in person and had no wait, great service, good food. We will probably stick to in person and avoid their take out for the price. read more

High end Red Lobster is what this really is. If RL had such a place, this is it. We went here for my birthday having high expectations based on reviews on various places, plus a friend from out of town was staying in Chandler. There were some pluses here, but serious minuses. And I learned that the bases of the sauces etc. are pre-made according to our server which is why I could not get garlic removed from the white wine sauce for shrimp scampi, even though I noted it as an allergy. Hey, thanks for helping here. Let's start it off Appetizers I had the six shrimp cocktail. It was very good. Shrimp were delicious, sauce excellent. The spouse and my friend had the crab cake with corn relish and enjoyed it a lot. The mains The spouse had the scallops which were supposed to be pan seared or seared at least. They weren't. A couple were Lukewarm. She mentioned this to the person bringing out the food, who took the plate and came back in short order with them seared. To me they looked a bit overcooked. The spouse had some and didn't finish. My friend had the sea bass with I assume was the buerre blanc one. Yes I misspelled the word. Anyway he loved it. The spouse tried it and she like it. Noting the sauce and crispiness of the way the fish was cooked. Remember the allergy issue? My server showed me what didn't have garlic on the menu as a way I assume to go, pick one of these, options. I did ask if the chef could whip up a sauce without the garlic. A simple request that restaurants of all price points usually do. Not here. I ended up going with the mussels and kbashed the sausage. The mussels were very good. I didn't finish them all, and the broth was good too. There was a seasoning in there that seemed like an allspice. Regardless it was nice. Now you are thinking what about the bread that it usually comes with? Seems that isn't a standard but she said they could provide one piece of grilled sourdough or another sourdough loaf. The loaf is six bucks. I'm surprised the server never showed up when the whole scallops issue was taking place. Nor a manager for that matter. In fact I never saw a manager walking around to see how folks are doing, how's the food. Again something very common at restaurants that value their customers. Even RL I assume does this. The food has really gone down hill since they first opened in S.Chandler over 4 years ago. I knew they wouldn't be able to sustain. Their oysters are frozen and taste like dirt, and are often sandy with bad shell taste. Their sushi is overpriced and just meh. But I kept going for other seafood dishes (in Arizona you are desperate for good seafood). One of the male bartenders is super rude, my daughter (knowing I come here often) even asked what I did to him as he didn't smile at us once serving us at the bar counter. The last time and final time was recently when I ordered their scallops which I've had in the past, I was super disappointed by the quality as they used to have big scallops sautéed with butter. The presentation this time was more scallops at the same price ($46) but they looked like chicken nuggets as they battered them (gross) and put a huge portion of creamed rice on the bottom. The nuggets I mean scallops tasted like bleach I ate half only because of the price and left the rest. The salmon ($36) tasted fishy had hard Brussel sprouts and this sauce over the fish which masked fishyness somewhat. I gave this place many chances and it was my favorite but for the over priced dishes and rude service I will not be back. There are way too many new seafood places such as BucknRider in Gilbert that know what they are doing to patron. High Tide management needs to get better product and adjust the attitude of their staff who seem entitled to 20% tip when the food is horrible for this kind of restaurant. My wife and I have been wanting to try High Tide Steelyard for a while and finally did tonight. When we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly hostess who sat us right away. They have a Crabby Hour with a good selection of food and drink items we will have to come back and try. My wife ordered a cup of clam chowder and we both got the Chilean sea bass with risotto, asparagus and artichoke with lobster beurre blanc. I tried the clam chowder and it was delicious! The flavors of everything on the plate were delicious, the fish was cooked to perfection! The only downside was the risotto wasn't completely cooked so it was somewhat crunchy. All in all, a very satisfying and delicious dinner. We will be back to try other items on the menu. read more

I was craving some oysters and my friend recommended to try High Tide. The restaurant had a great ambience! We had a party of three and wanted to have a few drinks with some appetizers to snack on a Saturday night. We ordered oysters, fried calamari, ceviche, and braised beef ribs. The oysters was fresh and delicious which satisfied my oyster cravings. Our server Josh gave excellent service! He was very attentive. He made it a very wonderful experience. The service was wonderful, the food not so much. We have been going to High Tide on Val Vista for years, but Steelyard is closer to home. We went for a friend's birthday dinner. We ordered the calamari which was good and the fish & chips dinner but upgraded to halibut. This was the worst fish & chips I have even had. The fish was mushy and watery; it was not halibut. We asked our waitress to send the manager Stephanie over, which took her about 5 minutes to get there. She never so much as looked at our meal, she proceeded to tell us we were wrong that it was halibut, that they cut it fresh every day. I told her they may cut halibut fresh every day, but this was not halibut. Halibut is not mushy it is a firm fish. We tried to show her the fish, and she wouldn't even look at it she stood 3 feet away from our table. We will never go back to this restaurant again. Their manager Stephanie needs training on social skills and how to treat the customer. There are too many other good restaurants in Chandler to go to that do not treat their customers so rudely. They are charging you for halibut but giving you so watery frozen mushy fish. I sent a review directly to the restaurant with no response, that tells you something that the owners don't care. read more

Had a 5:45 reservation and showed at 5:30, but they didn't seat us until 5:45 even though there were empty 4 tops. Sat us in the sun, and we asked to move to another open 4 top, but they said it was reserved??? Service was slow & we had to wave someone down for water & drink orders. Manhattan style ceviche appitizer was the best part of the evening - very good! All our entrées were good, bot none of said we'd order our meal again. Sea bass was OK but the asparagus was the best of the meal. Tide Roast wasn't great. Little to no flavor and the shrimp tasted like microwaved frozen shrimp. Seared ahi was probably the best. Drinks were good, but again not something you can't get elsewhere but without the prices. This place is priced as a high end seafood speciality, but there are better options. read more

My favorite place in chandler. Let me tell you... I haven't had big oysters like this unless I went to a mariscos place or went to Mexico. You will not be disappointed with what you get. I have tried crab cakes, gumbo, wings, oysters, and the shrimp cocktail so far. Every time I go everything seems/sounds delicious. The one time I had to wait was only a few minutes and the service is pretty quick for how full they get. The parking is horrible so if you live close maybe ubering would be better. I hate when stuff like this happens. We made a reservation for 730pm on Father's Day. When we arrived, it had looked like the rush was over. Knowing the prices at High Tide, you expect a certain level of service...sadly it fell flat. The server was apologetic and acknowledged the problem, but what really bothered me was that the floor manager didn't even come to our table to acknowledge the problem and offer to do anything on the $290 bill. We sat and waited for almost an hour. Restaurants need to understand that guests are coming with an expectation that should match the menu pricing. Steak and seafood is readily available at Costco for much cheaper and what you're really paying for is the culinary experience at the establishment reputation in the service industry, and sadly, our family won't be back to high tide There was also a homeless person at the bar, and the police had to escort them out and then tackled them to the ground right outside the doors which took most of the staff and kitchen staff to the window to watch the drama unfold read more

Stopped in randomly when driving through the area. We got the brunch soup salad special which was $13, a great deal for the quality. Both the lobster bisque and the clam chowder were rich and creamy with nice chunks of lobster and clam respectively. The wedge salads nicely executed with all the good toppings. We also got the King Crab dragon roll, it was tasty, and you could taste the king crab. I'm not sure the extra cost to get the king Crab vs. Krab is something I'd splurge on again. The calamari was great, served with two sauces, a creamy and a sweet and sour. I don't know the technical differences, but I personally prefer the ring type calamari to the stick type they serve. We have been going to the Gilbert location for years and we finally got around to trying this location which is closer to our house. The only thing that sucks about this location is the lack of parking. Finding a parking spot is like hitting the lottery. Everything else was fantastic. A bottle of wine appeared 10 minutes later and we had to assist her in opening it. We still had not received water! She disappeared before asking if we would like appetizers. She did not return to our table for nearly 20 minutes. . We were famished so we ordered appetizers and our entree simultaneously as we feared she wouldn't get back to the table. We received our first appetizer 50 minutes after sitting down. NOT ACCEPTABLE. The food was presented nicely but portions tended to be quite small. Your pricing is aggressive for what you have, we understand that, however you need enough competent staff to deliver meals timely and smoothly.
