Build Your Own Bowl - Large - A large poke bowl contains fresh vegetables, sliced fish, and toppings like seaweed, sesame seeds, and chopped nuts, served on a black tray.

This place was really good! My husband brought me here after trying it himself first. There's so many options when it comes to the proteins and toppings. I do love too that they have many sauce choice but they also show popular combos on the order window and they will give you recommendations as well on what they like to mix and what works well with the proteins you chose. They do have some drinks called refreshers and it's sodas with some mix ins and I tried the lemon coke. It was really different and gave me a flashback of lemon Pepsi from years ago. We def will come back when we want that good fresh poke bowl!

Spicy California Roll - A row of sushi rolls with tempura-fried exterior, drizzled with spicy mayo sauce, served on a black plastic tray.

Fire spot, food was amazing , service was above and beyond and music was great!!! I would definitely eat here again,

Dry toppings - A menu sign displays Japanese seasoning ingredients such as sesame seeds, rice puffs, and seaweed, with gluten-free labels.

Always great service and fresh poke bowls! Love coming here after a Costco run. I always get 1/2 brown rice & spring salad with spicy salmon. Eel sauce with dry toppings.

Thank you, Sunny. It was great meeting you! You did an amazing job on our jumbo Volcano sushi burrito (adding tempura shrimp) The flavors came together nicely. Looking forward to visiting again!

Service was great and super fast! Definitely will be choosing here over another place for the poke burritos. If you haven't tried hot cheetos on your sushi burrito you are missing out!

Made my own salmon bowl with the works. This is my second time and the service is always friendly. Ingredients are fresh and delicious. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Great spot, recommend.

Portions were great, I got super full off of a BYO Bowl! I got through the line very quickly and staff were really friendly. Lots of seating inside and outside and I liked how they offered Hawaiian drinks!

Build Your Own Poke Bowl - A poke bowl containing rice, raw salmon, seaweed salad, cucumber, edamame, and a seafood salad, placed on a desk with a keyboard in the background.

I ordered a two protein bowl. I got salmon and Hawaii tuna on white rice. The fish was very fresh. Every bite was great. There was a good choice of mix ins. I didn't love the shoyu sauce I got. Just tasted like soy. I was really excited about the cucumber kimchi but was disappointed. The acid level was off and there was no other pickled cucumber option. I will absolutely go back because of the quality of the fish, but will try different sauces.

Salmon, ponzu sauce and delicious veggies!!

This place is fantastic! The ingredients are super fresh and delicious. Prices are solid too. I feel like a lot of poke places are starting to overcharge. I would absolutely come back here! also the guy working was very friendly and welcoming!! I love this place! The restaurant decor is super cute and has a beach feeling as well.

One of my new favorite POKÉ places in Tempe now, service was great and they very helpful. Inside was clean and everything looked fresh. Food portions were huge and it's definitely worth your money. They have tons of different options for toppings and a good selection of proteins. Overall, a great place for poke and fast service, highly recommend.

This is the original location that haas been there for years, but they've expanded to a few other locations. This location is small but it's cute and the staff is really friendly. You can order online for their regular menu but they had some specials this weekend (sign up for the emails because you can see the specials at leach location and you get a code for a free cookie for your birthday) so we called in. Food was ready in 15 minutes. We got the lobster roll which is Connecticut style-my preference-with lots of butter! They had a fish and chips special so we got that too. And a pb&j cookie for my birthday! My husband very recently broke his leg so picking up Chulas with some great lobster was a nice treat! It's not inexpensive but you get what you pay for. Very fresh, high quality seafood. They have great poke and a great fish market if you want to pick up raw seafood to cook at home. Definitely a little gem in SoSco.

MONGER AMONG US It's…read moregreat to have a fishmonger in the Valley that sources seafood from boat to table. Being the desert, the quality of Seafood is important, since we are nowhere near seawater and the reputable Chula Seafood is here to serve us, desert dwellers, well. TUNA MELT- it's refreshing to have a tuna sandwich that is not canned tuna. There is a chimichiri sauce that you can get to drizzle on it that really gives a depth of flavor. The bread was a nice sourdough that was not just a cheap white bread and did not get soggy. However, with my sandwich, the bread was burnt so that bitterness ruined the flavor of the delicate fish. My pictures shows a few burnt spots, but on the bottom side was way more burnt and it was like they put the most burnt side on the bottom to hide it and hope I didn't notice. I did not appreciate this. CLAM CHOWDER- creamy and more on the fluid consistency, being made with fresh clams makes the difference. Not the best chowder i've had, but was pretty decent. The fish variety can vary with seasons, but it is nice to get different choices throughout the year. There are limited offerings here compared to the bigger location across town, as far as menu and fish selection. But for a small store it is a good place to get some quality seafood to take home or sit and eat. Check out the great happy hour deals

When we walked in it had a very fishy smell, so it kind of made us second guess our choice. But we went for it anyhow. The greeter/server was very pleasant and sat us. It was very clean inside with ample space between seat. We browsed through the menu and started with our usual edamame and pot stickers. The edamame was salted well throughout where a lot of places just put the salt on top only. We ordered a couple varieties of sake which were both good. Out of all of the things we ordered the karange skewer was just a little more oily than were use to, but still good. The spicy salmon roll had really great flavor and the lollipop roll was probably one of the better versions that we have had. The musubi was giant to say the least, it was good, but offered a bit too much rice. Overall the food and service was great and we were very happy that we ended up here!

On a Sunday evening, after checking out the Desert Botanical Garden, I was looking for some food in…read morethe area. I came across Zu Izakaya and it's great reviews as one of the options. I love Japanese food so my decision was made. I drove over and parked in their complimentary lot. Ambiance (3.5/5): I've been to Japan and there are plenty of izakayas there. Think of them as small bars which often serve solid food. Zu fits that bit. It's a relatively small restaurant, probably seats about 30 people. and it's pretty no frills for a Japanese spot. I was seated at a booth in the corner of the restaurant. They have free WiFi which is always a good touch. Service (3/5): Service was friendly, though a bit inconsistent. My waitress wasn't as attentive as I would have liked. The type of service where you have to flag them down to get what you want and to close out. Drinks (4/5): Zu has a nice menu of Japanese and Korean beverages, including sake, soju, Japanese beer, and more. With that being said, I just had an iced green tea. Food (4/5): I got a nice variety. I went with the Japanese sausage off of the grill menu, the OBI mayo roll off of the sushi menu, and the cheese corn off of the appetizer menu. Let's start with the sausage. It's a small item, two small sausages, but absolutely delicious. The sausage was bursting with flavor and basted in a sweet sauce. Minus the portion size, perfection. The cheese corn also hit the spot, but the execution was off. The corn is served on a hot platter, and unfortunately some of the corn on the edges was badly burnt. The type of situation where they should start over. Which they didn't. Lastly, the OBI mayo roll is essentially a California roll with marinated warm shrimp on top in a mayo sauce. I didn't love the hot and cold combo (shrimp and sushi), but outside of the temperature, it was a delicious roll. All in all, a very food meal. My only gripe with Japanese food is that it can get expensive quick. Given that Zu is in Tempe, I was hoping that prices would be a little cheaper. With that being said, they do have a solid happy hour (and reverse happy hour) with both food and drink specials. Next time I stop by, I'd like to check out some of their Korean options. I focused on the Japanese stuff this time (which makes the majority of the menu). Next time around, the bulgogi is calling my name!
