We went to Pacific Rim Hawaiian and Poké in Mesa last night, because they are opening up their Surprise location very soon and we wanted to try it beforehand! This might be the BEST Hawaiian food I have ever had. It was SO good. We both got combo plates: mine was with katsu, char siu, spicy garlic chicken, and BBQ beef; my husband got the same, except instead of katsu, he got kalbi ribs. It was fantastic! All of the meats tasted so good, the mac salad was delicious and everything has top tier quality and taste. But I think my favorite and the star of the show is the poké. We tried two different kinds: a half pound of Hawaiian style (right) and a half pound of fried crunchy garlic (left). OMG it was heavenly! Such fresh fish and amazing flavors. I absolutely LOVED them both and wanted to eat pounds of it if I could. I want to try ALL the flavors! They had about six different poké flavors and indicated that the Surprise location would have way more, roughly double that and I am so excited about that. They also have bento boxes, burgers, poke bowls, lumpia, spam musubi (including deep fried), and an assortment of desserts. They also do weekly rotating specials; this week was loco moco specials and there were a lot of different ones to try. Chef Blaise Aki came to our table and chatted with us and he is awesome. Takes pride in his food and his customer service (which was top notch, by the way). He is an awesome chef and his food is amazing! Such a good experience and I cannot WAIT until they are in Surprise!
Casual vibe in this Mesa neighborhood offering Hawaiian cuisine. The cashier was helpful in explaining the menu. I tried a combo platter for 20$ offering three types of meat. Teriyaki beef, Kalbi ribs and char sui chicken. The char sui chicken stood out most. With its unique Chinese flavors. It instantly took me back to my favorite childhood Chinese restaurant. The beef and rib quality, I was not a fan of. Now the Mac salad needed a little more creaminess to it, it was kind dry. The steamed riced well it was steamed rice.The proteins lay on a bed of shredded cabbage slaw as garnish. I personally would like to see just cabbage, thicker cut and steamed. When I do have a craving for that Char Sui chicken I will be back.
I wish I could give them more stars! If you love Authentic Hawaiian food this is the place!! We ordered their Pacific Rim combo and the Chicken Katsu, also tried spam musubi and lumpia's....all of it was so amazing!! I 100% recommend this place! They were super friendly and from Hawaii themselves, definitely the Aloha vibe you will love! We will be back! I could eat this everyday!! Mahalo!
Stopped by for labor day weekend to get our grub on! Still as yummy as last year! My husband ordered take out and didn't wait too long! My little one LOVES the char siu!
Wow, the food is delicious here! This place has been popping up in my social media feeds and I love Hawaiian style food and gave this place a try today. At 11:20am, already a bunch of people eating here and one group already walked out. I ordered the Hawaiian plate and also got a poi butter mochi. I've never had poi before but can report back that the poi butter mochi is very yummy! I did a little research and poi is a traditional Hawaiian food made from a starchy root, similar to taro, called kalo. I love taro, ube and many starchy root vegetables, so this was up my alley. I could tell from the packaging that the poi was probably a starchy root vegetable. Not too sweet at all and quite tasty! It's not like Taiwanese mochi which is my reference point and there's no filling but the sticky and sweetness suits me. I love it! And I bought the last one for today. I can see myself coming to buy this very often! I will also say that the Hawaiian platter was very well made. The mac salad is how it is supposed to be made. I've also never had lau lau, but in my culture, we have something similar (think: Chinese tamales, known as zhongzi) and it was so good, and flavorful. I also went home and did some research and lau lau is made with meat and vegetables stuffed inside taro leaves and then wrapped in ti leaves. The ti leaves are discarded after the lau lau is cooked. The taro leaves is what gives the meat and vegetables a distinct flavor. It reminded me of home, felt like comfort food for me! The lomi salmon (sort of like poke and initially I thought it was pico de gallo lol - but its salted raw salmon with diced raw tomatoes and onions) portion was small, but so good, very well seasoned. The haupia is a coconut pudding dessert, reminds me of a coconut dessert I can make. Not too sweet at all and perfect for a hot day, so refreshing! My only gripe is that the rice was on the tad dry side. Everything was so good here and I already want to come back! I'll be back to have their poke bowls and try their daily specials, the guava cake and Chantilly cake! They also have ube mochi and butter mochi too, so I will be back to try those too! The island vibes here are so legit, come give it a try! Hawaiian reggae was playing and they also bring in live music performers too. When you're missing Hawaii, do come here, your heart, spirit and tummy will be so happy you did!

Tried their Pacific rim combo today ($18) and my mouth was watering. The kalbi, beef, and chicken were so delicious and tender. The mac and cheese was also so good too. I usually get their poke bowl, but I am so glad I tried their pacific rim combo today. Inside the restaurant is very cozy with cute hawaiin decor. Service is very fast and efficient. They take card which is always a plus. Definitely a frequent place I go to and always crave for.
Still the Best Hawaiian Food in AZ We went again on Saturday and, even though it was super busy with people coming and going, the food and service were amazing as always. What we ordered: * 3 chicken katsu plates * 1 Pacific Rim combo (char siu chicken + teri beef) * 1 Hawaiian plate (laulau, kalua pig, mac salad, lomi salmon, haupia) * 6 musubi * 3 containers of poi * 2 containers of shoyu ahi poke * 2 containers of Hawaiian ahi poke Every single item was on point. The laulau was moist and flavorful, the katsu was perfectly cooked, the poke was fresh, and even the poi tasted just like home. Service & Atmosphere: The owner was away at a Hawaiian Hālau event, but the restaurant still had plenty of staff keeping things running smoothly. That says a lot about how well the place is run--you can feel that everyone takes pride in keeping the aloha spirit alive. Bottom line: No matter how busy they are, Pacific Rim always delivers. The food is consistently authentic, the staff is friendly, and it still feels like stepping back into Hawaiʻi every time we visit.
Ahi tuna tasted really fresh and clean with no iron-y aftertaste. I liked the barbecue beef and kalbi, heads up they are on the sweeter side. I would probably skip the char siu next time, but it was solid. The macaroni salad is the kind without vinegar, but it was pretty good. I would come back, probably want to try the loco moco next time or the katsu. Warning, they do automatically add a $3 water bottle to the bill which I thought was strange, so make sure to watch out for that. The restaurant is decorated with a hawaiian theme and it's a cute spot.

I was in town to run a marathon. I stopped in here to get dinner. It was easy to find on Southern Ave, across the street from Mesa Community College. Service was very nice and friendly. I ordered their Hawaiian plate (laulau, kalua pig, rice & mac, lomi salmon, and haupia). The food was good and certainly reminded me of all of my past visits to Hawaii. They even had a TV that showed clips of popular Hawaiian spots.

Stopped by to grab some dinner before heading back to work and embracing my life as a corporate slave . I'm visiting Arizona from California for work, and when I got back to my desk and opened up the bowl, I literally had to do a double take. WAIT... WHAT IS THIS?! IT'S FILLED TO THE BRIM! Seriously, they did not skimp on the portions. Coming from California, I'm definitely not used to seeing a bowl packed this full. And thankfully, it wasn't just a huge portion, it actually tasted great too. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Definitely a pleasant surprise during a work trip. I'd absolutely come back the next time I'm in Arizona! read more
My favorite place for Hawaiian food here in Arizona. Super authentic and tasty. Service is always fast and friendly. I order to go from them a few times a month and my katsu chicken is ALWAYS burnt. It's happened three times so far this year. I'm not sure if it's just a to-go issue since I've had the katsu chicken in restaurants and it's amazing. Their galbi beef ribs are our favorite. Always a healthy portion when we order it in one of their combos. The poke is perfect. Super fresh and never fishy. Their Mac salad is the best as well. Simple but delicious. Not too heavy with mayo. Love this place but maybe should learn my lesson and stop ordering katsu togo from them and get everything else instead lol. read more

You never have to wait longer than 5 minutes to receive a taste of Hawaiian culture. The decorations are reminiscent of the voyager culture and the food is priced so well than you can ball on a budget for breakfast/lunch/dinner. I hate Mac salad but they do it just RIGHT read more

Omg!! Yes the flavors that hit my heart and brought me back to family bbq's on Kauai! Thank you. Service is amazing and so friendly, restaurant was chill place and music reminds me of my teen years! I went to Oahu with my husband about 4 years ago and fell in love with the food, especially the homestyle Hawaiian comfort food. Coming to Pacific Rim & Sushi was like falling in love with the food all over again. I had missed this flavor so much! The Laulau was juicy, smoky, with just a hint of bitterness from the taro leaves and no one does it better than they do here in AZ. You know it's good when they order the taro leaves direct from Hawaii in order to get the best ones and they hand make their 7 spice powder for the char siu chicken. In fact, everything is house-made from scratch. You can taste the love and care in every bite. The Kalua pork was tender and dripping with flavor. I could probably eat my body weight in that stuff! And the char siu chicken is fantastic with that special seasoning. I'll happily drive from Buckeye to Mesa for that any day! The owners and manager are super friendly and informative and I could have chatted with them all day. It really did feel like sitting down with good friends and relaxing with great food and conversation. I'm itching to go back already because I have my eye on trying that Loco Moco and Poke for sure and anything else they put in front of me! read more

If you're looking for some plate lunch or Hawaiian food, this place is decent. I came with really low expectations and was surprised by some menu items. Some dishes are like eating in Hawaii, but others are not. For example, the spicy garlic chicken is not what you think it is. It's just grilled chicken with chili paste on top. Not like your battered and fried spicy garlic chicken. Also the poke is disappointing. Poke should just come with fish and rice yet here they add all this nonsense in. It's a small inside, but not super busy so you'll find a place to it most likely. I recommend trying their weekly special. You can find the weekly special on their instagram. I had their mochiko chicken. If they have this on the menu, order it, you can like my review later. It's fried chicken that's marinated and battered in rice flour. So it like mochi surrounding the chicken. Their Mac salad is fire. You always judge a plate lunch place by their Mac salad and it passed. I also had their Katsu moco which was a special and was also super good. The katsu was a little sweet which was a nice add. Anywho again they have some stuff they don't tailor to the mainland tongue, but most of the plates they do. Try it out and judge for yourself. read more
I heard of this place as Pacific Rim and Bento on Facebook and was bummed it came about after I moved. But I made plans to get a ride on a layover. The ride fell through so delivery to the rescue. So, unfortunately, I can't really comment on the service and atmosphere. But the food! Oh, the food. Raised in Hawaii I'm picky about my Hawaiian food. I bought three entrees, leftovers will be coming home with me. I couldn't decide and had to try my top three choices. The Hawaiian Plate with kalua pig, lau lau, lomi salmon, and haupia didn't let me down. Best lau lau I've ever had. The amount of luau leaf was amazing. I'm not much for lomi salmon but this one with it's big, fresh chunks of salmon. So good. The haupia wasn't sweet. But it wasn't bad. I kinda liked it. The meat in the Pacific Rim combo was so juicy and full of taste. Loved the chicken. My least favorite was the beef curry stew. No curry taste. I was expecting a Japanese curry taste. Just spicy. I don't like spicy. The meat was tough and dry. Could have used some carrot chunks. The Mac salad was close to what I'm used to. Not the same, but still good. I'll be back for more, that's for sure. read more

I am a huge fan of hawaiian food and this is one of the best I've ever had. Don't let the flickering lights deter you, the food and service is top notch. Came an hour before closing and felt as welcome as if it were their first hour of service. Every component of every dish was done right. Galbi was flavorful with crispy edges, poke was fresh and covered in fresh wasabi sauce. Even the macaroni in the mac salad and the rice were cooked perfectly. 10/10, would go out of my way to try more of their menu. read more

* just FYI, if you're offended by a Trump banner and Trump supporters this place has both. My friend had rave reviews about Pacific Rim from its fresh fish to the super nice Hawaiian owners. It used to be a food truck and now they have a brick and mortar. When I walked in on a Saturday at 2pm, I saw it's a decent size restaurant and it was full with only one table open. The kitchen is open so you can see them cooking. Good variety of Hawaiian eats on the menu. I liked how they had a few seats next to the big window for those like me waiting for their to go orders. There is an inviting aura from the Hawaiian videos and music playing to the customers looking happy with their food. I was greeted warmly by the staff at the cashier and she answered any questions I had. Easy to order to go and my food came out at a timely manner... * Coconut garlic shrimp- in my head I was thinking it would be like the shrimp from the food trucks I've had in Hawaii. More like a lightly fried shrimp tossed in fried garlic, but this was saucy in garlic and red/green peppers. Flavor was good though. FYI, the shells are still on... * Hawaiian plate - the best laulau I ever had in Az! The lomi salmon (tiny lil container of it, I thought it was just chopped up tomatoes at first lols, kalua pork and haupia were ono also. The mac salad is ok taste wise compared to others I've had but it's not bad... *yellowtail igiri - fresh and the fish just melts in yo mouth So I ended up ordering the poke bowl also 10 min later while I was waiting. This time the owner/wife took my order and she was so friendly and talked to me like I was a regular. Even gave me a sample of the Hawaiian beef curry since I never had it and I asked if it was similar to Japanese curry. My only hmm about Pacific Rim is the poke bowl is listed as $15 on the menu. But later I realized they charged me $20. I do remember her asking if I wanted the fresh poke and I said of course. Who wants old poke? Lols So maybe that's why it's an extra $5? So is it $15 if you want not so fresh poke? I need to ask next time... read more

Arizona: A wonderful landlocked state known for sushi and Hawaiian food. Isn't that what you were thinking? ;) Pacific Rim & Sushi started off as a food truck and has since moved into this great brick and mortar. The chef grew up on the island of Kauai, so hey, that has to count for something, right? On the first visit, we ordered the $16 Loco Moco and $15 Chicken Katsu. The loco moco was salty, but the chicken katsu was really juicy. Both had portion sizes that were more than generous. The mac salad isn't my favorite, and if you know me, I'm one to usually get no rice and all mac salad, but here, I say keep the rice! It helps cut the sodium level of the brown gravy on the loco moco. What a great spot and some good eats. I'll be back again to try more of the menu. read more

Best Hawaiian Food on the East Side of AZ. & Ive tried a lot of them here. This spot is above them all! Huge portions, fresh hot food and incredibly delicious. Got a pacific rib plate and subbed the Char-Siu chicken for Katsu Chicken. The kalbi was perfectly cooked and seasoned, katsu was crispy, hot, and fresh. Beef teriyaki was so well seasoned and cooked as well! Mac salad was well seasoned and flavorful. Service was very friendly and quick. The portion was big AF and I will be back to try more off the menu! read more
