    Spicy tonkotsu ramen & takoyaki
    Alyssa R.

Located inside the Asian market, this spot is a quick and affordable way to enjoy Japanese cuisine. The cashier was friendly, and the food was prepared quickly. The ramen had great flavor, and I really enjoyed the roasted garlic. The noodles were perfectly cooked--bouncy and satisfying--and the broth was smooth and rich. While it wasn't spicy enough for my personal taste, it definitely didn't lack flavor. There's plenty of seating available, making it a comfortable place to sit down and enjoy a meal before or after shopping.

Got Hawaii Donburi. Similar to Poke Bowl except it has rice. Same delicious sesame oil dressing. Comes with house salad and cantaloupe chunks. Again, dished beautifully. These folks do not mess around. The food is top notch and you cannot get fresher or better tasting fish. Excited to try the sushi next!! We are becoming regulars here. So very friendly too!!! Place is tidy and bright!

This place is excellent! My hubby is an island boy and will not eat fish if it's got even a hint of fishiness, but he absolutely loved everything we ate here. The employees are kind and caring as well. We loved it and we will be back! No wonder this place has so many great reviews!

Pretty dang good for an order at the counter; serve yourself food court joint! I got the spicy tuna maki roll (8 pieces). My hubby got the tuna & salmon sashimi as well as a couple salmon nigiri, and everything tasted fantastic! Incredible fresh and oishi!! Omatase is inside Asiana market, so if you drive to the address and don't see it, go inside Asiana market! They DO have gluten free tamari soy sauce! Everything you need and want! Great casual food court gem!

This is a newer place located inside Asiana food court. After shopping at Asiana, decided to check them out as I knew they were prior owners of Sushi Stop and I loved their food. I wasn't very hungry so I ordered an assorted 7 piece sushi $20- tuna, salmon, yellowtail, albacore, sea bass, shrimp and salmon roe. It was just ok, not amazing as I remembered. They have a pretty big menu including a hungry menu for big appetites. The owners are really sweet so I'd come back and try something different next time.

I decided to try this restaurant based on a friends recommendation and it didn't disappoint! I got the Hawaiian poke and my daughter got the salmon and a hand roll. They were both so fresh tasting and large portions for the amount. I liked that it came with salad also. I will be back! I highly recommend this place!

Omatase (\(お待たせ\)) is a Japanese word that means "sorry to have kept you waiting". It can be used as a polite greeting, even if you are not late.  For this great place, I would gladly wait. The owners, Mei and Jay, are the original owners of Sushi Stop. My heart is so happy to see them again! Today is their grand opening and we got some takoyaki (six pieces for $9), pork katsu with the addition of cheese ($18 + $3), and a Las Vegas maki roll (five pieces for $8). Everything tasted delicious, as always. The curry dish is easily shareable between two people. We could have gotten just the curry and it would be perfect but you know I needed a maki roll for good measure. No regrets. Sitting in the Asian food court is Omatase Japanese Kitchen! You won't be disappointed having a meal here. Itadakimasu!

Omatase located in Asiana market food court. We didn't know what to expect ordering sashimi inside a food court, but oh man! Kobe donburi, which consisted of mixed sashimi over sushi rice was really fresh. Quality of fish was excellent as well. Only at $16, it was inexpensive. It also came with side salad. Will be back to try other entrees including sushi and tonkatsu. Highly recommend!!

The folks from Sushi Stop sold their place and opened a new spot in Asiana. The nicest family, so go support this local owned business! Got a tonkatsu curry plate, sushi salad, and other stuff. The katsu breading is crisp and portions are huge. We also got some items from the neighboring food kitchens, Korean Kimchi chigae, and the fried chicken from third spot looked legit. Come by yourself, or choose family style and order a bunch of tasty things, both are guaranteed winning game plans. Take out window, food court style dining. This is a great spot to eat!!! Note: Return your dishes to the Omatase folks. They wash all their own dishware.

From the original owners of Sushi Stop is Omatase Japanese Kitchen! Give this great couple all your love, Phoenix! We came on Grand Opening and I'm happy to report that the flavors are still one hundo. We got a pork katsu with cheese, Las Vegas maki roll, and the takoyaki. Get sushi/udon/ramen/curry/donburi fix here before shopping at Asiana (trust, you don't want to shop on an empty stomach). I'm a big fan of support our small and local businesses and this couple deserves their flowers. I encourage you to grab a bite here. You won't be disappointed.

I ordered the tempura udon which comes with five shrimp tempura and five veggie tempura. The flavor of the soup was excellent and I love the tempura! The owner was very courteous. I will definitely go back again.

We were very happy we tried this place because we found out the owner is the previous original SushiStop owner! We absolutely missed their giant sushi and rolls. We love the sushi, and the price is very reasonable. The owners are super nice as well. Make sure to stop by and try it!

    Perfect.

The sushi donburi bowls here are the best plates of food you'll have in Arizona. Both the fish and rice quality is outstanding. If this place was in Gilbert, I'd eat here 4-5 times per week. No exaggeration.

    Great location and food!!

Our server was attentive, happy hour was good and everything came out quickly. The cucumber salad was super refreshing and gyoza were yummy with a delicious sauce. We ordered sake bombs, and I absolutely love that they serve them with frosty chilled glasses. We tried two different ramen bowls and both were packed with flavor. The spice levels felt pretty accurate, the eggs were cooked perfectly, the meat was tender, and the noodles had a great texture. Each bowl had its own flavor profile, but both were equally delicious. We also tried the takoyaki (octopus balls). I was already getting full, so I wasn't as excited about them, but my boyfriend described them as a BBQ pancake bite. Overall, this is a great spot for ramen. I did notice the music was all girl bands and no boy bands. Clean restaurant, good service, flavorful food, and a fun atmosphere. I'd definitely come back.

When we walked in it had a very fishy smell, so it kind of made us second guess our choice. But we went for it anyhow. The greeter/server was very pleasant and sat us. It was very clean inside with ample space between seat. We browsed through the menu and started with our usual edamame and pot stickers. The edamame was salted well throughout where a lot of places just put the salt on top only. We ordered a couple varieties of sake which were both good. Out of all of the things we ordered the karange skewer was just a little more oily than were use to, but still good. The spicy salmon roll had really great flavor and the lollipop roll was probably one of the better versions that we have had. The musubi was giant to say the least, it was good, but offered a bit too much rice. Overall the food and service was great and we were very happy that we ended up here!

We were nearby for a show, and decided to stop in on a Wednesday evening for a late dinner with some friends. They have a good happy hour menu, and my friends ordered off there, but I was craving sushi so I got the nigiri omakase. It came with miso soup, which I enjoyed, definitely hard to go wrong there. The sushi itself was decent, nothing crazy, but definitely better than grocery store quality. The tuna and salmon pieces were a little fishy, maybe not the freshest, but it was also quite late (~10pm) so I wasn't expecting too much. Beautifully presented, and the cuts were quite large which was nice! The food came out pretty fast, and the service was pleasant. The restaurant vibes are pretty dark, and moody. The bathroom was kind of scary personally, super dark and a little messy, so I decided to wait till I got home. Overall, a solid experience, and definitely a good choice if I am in the area.

We arrived a little after 5pm and the restaurant was mostly empty. But in the next 20 minutes it filled up and there was open sitting at the bar only. The mood was initially quiet but quickly turned more up beat as the restaurant filled and pop rock music was playing. We asked our waiter a few questions about a few of their rolls and he was very helpful with guidance and recommendations. We ordered Salmon Lemon, Spicy Tuna, Salmon Avocado Maki and California rolls to share for two. This restaurant uses purple rice rather than traditional white rice. This was the first time we have tried a sushi roll made with purple rice and we both loved it. It added a nutty flavor and hearty texture. Purple rice is similar to wild rice and far nutritionally superior to white rice with more antioxidant and fiber. Shortly after we ordered we were served a potsticker dish. I mentioned that we did not order the item and were informed the appetizer was complementary. We thanked the server and tasted the dish. The potstickers were nicely pan fried and had a great crust and flavorful chicken filling. Delicious! About five minutes later our rolls were delivered. All were fresh tasting and delicious. Our favorite was the Salmon Lemon roll. We loved the pop the lemon added. Honorable mentions to the Spicy Tuna roll, very well done, excellent balance of heat and flavors. We truly enjoyed our dining experience and look forward to returning. Highly recommended for a quality sushi experience!

The restaurant is fairly large, and seems like a lot of people like coming here for family/friend dinners. Like the name insists, the teppanyaki is the way to go. Their menu isn't that large, so it was pretty easy to make a decision. I opted for the filet mignon (rare) along with shrimp. Teppanyaki is really more of a show/experience, so the food comes out to you in sections (versus all at once like at a traditional restaurant). The filet was so soft, and was perfectly rare, and the shrimp was so good. I think in the future I'd eat a whole plate of shrimp. I also got to try the yakiniku, and that was also pretty good but very sweet. Their Boo Yah Ka roll was also pretty yummy. It's essentially a spring roll, but with some spice and citrus to it. We arrived a little early, so they told us we could sit at the bar & have a drink. We sat there for 15+ minutes & the girl getting things ready for the bar totally ignored us. Right before we were seated someone else took our drink order & said she'd bring them to the table. Hubby got a beer & I got a Tito's & cranberry juice. We ordered an appetizer. While we were waiting they sat another 4 with us. We all expected dinner & a "show", but none of us expected the show we got. One of the staff started screaming at another staff member. We had no idea what the female staff member was saying since her words were not in English. She was so loud & screaming in the bar area so the entire restaurant could hear her. A couple of staff members tried to claim her dow. This went on for several minutes. It was crazy. All us customers were silent & just looking at the girl screaming & yelling. The next thing we know, round two. It was unbelievable. What was even crazier was they didn't send the staff member home! No one came over & said a word. No one apologized or said anything. After all of this, they sat couple with us. Finally the chef came to the table. By this time it was 20 til 6:00. Hubby got the filet with fried rice. I got the shrimp with fried rice. The food was good. However, hubby's steak was over cooked. Thankfully, hubby told the chef he wanted to change the steak from medium to medium rare, or it would have been even more over cooked. I also watch all of the employees but one prepping the food without gloves. This used to be our go to place for, but now with all this issues this time, we will probably have to find a new place.
