Fish curry with white rice and fresh fruit on the side.
    Iracel L.

Wow talk about a hidden gem! Inside the Asiana Market in Mesa is Omatase Japanese Kitchen and they have best curry even better than CoCo Ichibanya in Japan! Dare I say the best curry I have ever had The curry itself has pieces of beef which gives it that extra depth of flavor and heartyness. I had fried breaded fish elsewhere but this one was light and paired perfectly with the sauce and a good portion of white rice and fresh fruit on the side to offset the heavier meal. My boys loved their sushi and Takoyaki as well. We were the only ones dinning here on a Sunday afternoon so come visit and keep this place alive

Located inside the Asian market, this spot is a quick and affordable way to enjoy Japanese cuisine. The cashier was friendly, and the food was prepared quickly. The ramen had great flavor, and I really enjoyed the roasted garlic. The noodles were perfectly cooked--bouncy and satisfying--and the broth was smooth and rich. While it wasn't spicy enough for my personal taste, it definitely didn't lack flavor. There's plenty of seating available, making it a comfortable place to sit down and enjoy a meal before or after shopping.

The owner is so sweet and the food is amazing. This place is located inside Asiana and is worth trying. The fish are always so fresh for the price you are paying. Definitely recommend just getting their sashimi.

I was looking forward to try their food but I often went to Asiana market on Monday when they are closed. Finally I made it there in the weekend and so happy with their food. Salmon curry rice is so delicious. The salmon slices are tempura-like coated go very well with the curry. The pickled ginger is to die for and help me enjoy the curry more. There are many selections of hand rolls, which are really hard to decide. The fish and seafood in the hand rolls are fresh. The small sides that come with the hand rolls are really great implements to the meal.

Pretty dang good for an order at the counter; serve yourself food court joint! I got the spicy tuna maki roll (8 pieces). My hubby got the tuna & salmon sashimi as well as a couple salmon nigiri, and everything tasted fantastic! Incredible fresh and oishi!! Omatase is inside Asiana market, so if you drive to the address and don't see it, go inside Asiana market! They DO have gluten free tamari soy sauce! Everything you need and want! Great casual food court gem!

This is a newer place located inside Asiana food court. After shopping at Asiana, decided to check them out as I knew they were prior owners of Sushi Stop and I loved their food. I wasn't very hungry so I ordered an assorted 7 piece sushi $20- tuna, salmon, yellowtail, albacore, sea bass, shrimp and salmon roe. It was just ok, not amazing as I remembered. They have a pretty big menu including a hungry menu for big appetites. The owners are really sweet so I'd come back and try something different next time.

This place is excellent! My hubby is an island boy and will not eat fish if it's got even a hint of fishiness, but he absolutely loved everything we ate here. The employees are kind and caring as well. We loved it and we will be back! No wonder this place has so many great reviews!

I decided to try this restaurant based on a friends recommendation and it didn't disappoint! I got the Hawaiian poke and my daughter got the salmon and a hand roll. They were both so fresh tasting and large portions for the amount. I liked that it came with salad also. I will be back! I highly recommend this place!

Omatase (\(お待たせ\)) is a Japanese word that means "sorry to have kept you waiting". It can be used as a polite greeting, even if you are not late.  For this great place, I would gladly wait. The owners, Mei and Jay, are the original owners of Sushi Stop. My heart is so happy to see them again! Today is their grand opening and we got some takoyaki (six pieces for $9), pork katsu with the addition of cheese ($18 + $3), and a Las Vegas maki roll (five pieces for $8). Everything tasted delicious, as always. The curry dish is easily shareable between two people. We could have gotten just the curry and it would be perfect but you know I needed a maki roll for good measure. No regrets. Sitting in the Asian food court is Omatase Japanese Kitchen! You won't be disappointed having a meal here. Itadakimasu!

Omatase located in Asiana market food court. We didn't know what to expect ordering sashimi inside a food court, but oh man! Kobe donburi, which consisted of mixed sashimi over sushi rice was really fresh. Quality of fish was excellent as well. Only at $16, it was inexpensive. It also came with side salad. Will be back to try other entrees including sushi and tonkatsu. Highly recommend!!

The folks from Sushi Stop sold their place and opened a new spot in Asiana. The nicest family, so go support this local owned business! Got a tonkatsu curry plate, sushi salad, and other stuff. The katsu breading is crisp and portions are huge. We also got some items from the neighboring food kitchens, Korean Kimchi chigae, and the fried chicken from third spot looked legit. Come by yourself, or choose family style and order a bunch of tasty things, both are guaranteed winning game plans. Take out window, food court style dining. This is a great spot to eat!!! Note: Return your dishes to the Omatase folks. They wash all their own dishware.

From the original owners of Sushi Stop is Omatase Japanese Kitchen! Give this great couple all your love, Phoenix! We came on Grand Opening and I'm happy to report that the flavors are still one hundo. We got a pork katsu with cheese, Las Vegas maki roll, and the takoyaki. Get sushi/udon/ramen/curry/donburi fix here before shopping at Asiana (trust, you don't want to shop on an empty stomach). I'm a big fan of support our small and local businesses and this couple deserves their flowers. I encourage you to grab a bite here. You won't be disappointed.

I ordered the tempura udon which comes with five shrimp tempura and five veggie tempura. The flavor of the soup was excellent and I love the tempura! The owner was very courteous. I will definitely go back again.

We were going downtown for a concert, craving some sushi and found this place on Yelp. No…read morereservations available, I did check their website where you can be adding to a waitlist, but it stated currently no waitlist and invited us to just arrive at restaurant. We arrived a little after 5pm and the restaurant was mostly empty. But in the next 20 minutes it filled up and there was open sitting at the bar only. The mood was initially quiet but quickly turned more up beat as the restaurant filled and pop rock music was playing. We asked our waiter a few questions about a few of their rolls and he was very helpful with guidance and recommendations. We ordered Salmon Lemon, Spicy Tuna, Salmon Avocado Maki and California rolls to share for two. This restaurant uses purple rice rather than traditional white rice. This was the first time we have tried a sushi roll made with purple rice and we both loved it. It added a nutty flavor and hearty texture. Purple rice is similar to wild rice and far nutritionally superior to white rice with more antioxidant and fiber. Shortly after we ordered we were served a potsticker dish. I mentioned that we did not order the item and were informed the appetizer was complementary. We thanked the server and tasted the dish. The potstickers were nicely pan fried and had a great crust and flavorful chicken filling. Delicious! About five minutes later our rolls were delivered. All were fresh tasting and delicious. Our favorite was the Salmon Lemon roll. We loved the pop the lemon added. Honorable mentions to the Spicy Tuna roll, very well done, excellent balance of heat and flavors. We truly enjoyed our dining experience and look forward to returning. Highly recommended for a quality sushi experience!

The menu was 5 courses prix fixe designed by the head chef for this group. The restaurant was closed as a private event. Service was excellent, the food was also so delicious, and cocktails were great too. Shimogamo is one of the few Japanese restaurants in the valley that remind me of eating Japanese food in Japan. It's well prepared, fresh, and high quality. The cocktails are creative and nods to Japan with delicate flavors and unique ingredients. Our courses were: started with the truffle amberjack which is a flavor bomb, very rich and truffle forward. Which I don't always enjoy but when paired with amberjack, it was great. 2nd course was a nigiri plate- 4 choices: sea bream (which I love), a fancy type salmon, toro, and couple pieces of the wagyu roll. Next onto a darn near perfect crab croquet that was creamy with big pieces of crab and perfectly fried, and main course was K4 ranch Wagyu from Prescott. Very buttery and delicious. We ended with a matcha basque cheesecake. The chefs talked about the food, answered questions, and talked about their background. It was an enjoyable dinner and we will be back for the "oysters and cocktails" hour they were promoting. I love both of those things.

So of course I had to see for myself if it's hype or real deal. I'm happy to report that yes, yes it is real :) Be sure to check their hours before you go, it's a late lunch/ dinner spot and google shows the restaurant is closed on Monday & Tuesdays. But possibly still does delivery those days? I'd call to be sure. This local hibachi/ teppenyaki grill restaurant is fairly new, maybe opened about 8 months ago, and is run by a husband/ wife team with some supporting staff is doing a great job and I wish them continued success! It was tasty! It was about 6:30pm when we arrived and we must have caught the dinner rush because it filled up fast in there. We waited patiently to place our order, which gave me plenty of time to stare up at the menu boards and listen to the music playing on one of the screens. At first glance you might think, whoa this is pricey, and per entree, it "kind of" is, but you're going to get a lot of food. And quality food too! So, I think for what you will get, there's taste and value to be had. We decided for our first time to keep it simple with the proteins -- chicken and shrimp, then if we like it, we can upgrade to the more pricey steak options next time. We opted for take out and were quoted about 15 minutes to wait, and that is about what it ended up being. Pretty good timing, given it was busy in there. We didn't order any drinks, I saw plenty of soda cans and bottled drink options. One thing I also did notice, there was no restroom, so if you like to wash your hands before eating or just have to go, didn't see anywhere to do that. Which I always think is odd for any place that serves food. Once back at home we opened the containers and everything looked good, which is nice. Sometimes it's not appetizing looking with take out since presentation is less a factor. We plated up our BossBachi haul and found that splitting a burrito, noodles, and egg rolls between 2 of us filled us up, and we even had leftovers. I weighed the burrito cause it felt hefty, it was almost 1.5 lbs. and not just all rice! Had a good amount of chicken and veggies. I saw it on the menu, so I requested they prepare the yakisoba noodles as "boss way" with extra toppings and that was a good move. I liked the shrimp and noodles, very tasty! And finally those little egg rolls were nice and crispy. I hope they maintain their quality standards and keep giving great service with plenty of food per servings, for the price points. Glad we checked them out, we will definitely be back for some grilled steak. BossBachi lives up to its name, its boss!

The steak was great and the wok hay taste was really there. The bowl as a whole, however, was a bit too salty for my taste. Husband didn't think so. Maybe next time I'll order it less salty/without sauce.

While we were waiting they sat another 4 with us. We all expected dinner & a "show", but none of us expected the show we got. One of the staff started screaming at another staff member. We had no idea what the female staff member was saying since her words were not in English. She was so loud & screaming in the bar area so the entire restaurant could hear her. A couple of staff members tried to claim her dow. This went on for several minutes. It was crazy. All us customers were silent & just looking at the girl screaming & yelling. The next thing we know, round two. It was unbelievable. What was even crazier was they didn't send the staff member home! No one came over & said a word. No one apologized or said anything. After all of this, they sat couple with us. Finally the chef came to the table. By this time it was 20 til 6:00. Hubby got the filet with fried rice. I got the shrimp with fried rice. The food was good. However, hubby's steak was over cooked. Thankfully, hubby told the chef he wanted to change the steak from medium to medium rare, or it would have been even more over cooked. I also watch all of the employees but one prepping the food without gloves. This used to be our go to place for, but now with all this issues this time, we will probably have to find a new place.

The restaurant is fairly large, and seems like a lot of people like coming here for family/friend dinners. Like the name insists, the teppanyaki is the way to go. Their menu isn't that large, so it was pretty easy to make a decision. I opted for the filet mignon (rare) along with shrimp. Teppanyaki is really more of a show/experience, so the food comes out to you in sections (versus all at once like at a traditional restaurant). The filet was so soft, and was perfectly rare, and the shrimp was so good. I think in the future I'd eat a whole plate of shrimp. I also got to try the yakiniku, and that was also pretty good but very sweet. Their Boo Yah Ka roll was also pretty yummy. It's essentially a spring roll, but with some spice and citrus to it. I felt that the portion was good for a large meal, but my friend who got the chef's combo definitely had enough for leftovers.

It was nothing special though it tasted like the typical frozen mushy type wasn't very good. Disappointed on the takoyaki I had just one small piece of octopus inside of it and it was just all batter. Probably some of the worst type I've had. The fried squid legs. Were good can't really mess that up unless you mess the batter up pretty badly lol the Gyoza was very fresh tasting and had the perfect amount of crunch for pan fried now the tonkatsu ramen not the best in az but it was good not oily broth more thicker nooodles more on the thinner side and the pork was tender and egg made to the perfect softness for that gooey inside the beef bulgogi plate combo was good you can't really mess up Bulgogi so it tasted like any other Bulgogi. I had definitely didn't expect it to be so small though especially with how much you're paying I pay for less for way more at other places and they give me a good amount of onions on the bottom this place I barely got any onions underneath, and it was just all burnt on the bottom. So half of my onions were just stuck to the bottom and I couldn't get them off. The side dishes, though these are some of my favorite side dishes I've had at a Korean spot in Arizona. Super sucks because I would only wanna come back for the kimchi side dishes, but didn't really enjoy the food to an extreme amount to justify driving 30 minutes back and price , some items are a bit pricey, but most of the items are priced at the same as other places I've been but you get way less I really did like their kimchi, though it really was some of the best but man so far and nothing I'd want from that menu entree wise so I think it's worth checking out but I can't justify coming back
