This is by far the best Japanese spot in town. Everything we ordered was so good, especially the shrimp tempura & soft shell crab tempura! Sashimi was really fresh and they gave a generous amount! Quality is honestly comparable to that of Japan. It's a small shop but service is great. Definitely will come back many more times!

What a GEM. Very happy to have found this place! I loved the decor and lighting. The service was amazing and the food was delicious. Some of the best sushi in town!

It was nice to walk in and be welcomed and then the service everyone was so nice and helpful. The happy hour is great deal but the food was amazing and didn't even know the place was there so DO NOT MISS Place . We will be coming back question.

Overall: 8/10 Food: 9/10 Service: 8/10 Atmosphere: 6/10 Value: 7/10 The Vampire Roll was very good (and spicy). The Baja Roll was good as well. Service was decent and friendly. The fish does seem fresh and the menu is fairly creative with their rolls.

Came here with some friends for dinner and to catch up. As we entered the establishment, we were immediately greeted by a nice, welcoming young lady/waitress/hostess (which happens to be the niece of the chef/owner). We were given a choice of where we wanted to sit among the tables that were not occupied. It a nice, simple medium sized dining area with several tabletops. Once seated, she offered to take our drink orders, then gave us an opportunity to decide what we wanted for dinner. We tried several of their rolls and appetizers for dinner. Everything was prepared fairly quickly. Everything tasted great. My favorite of the rolls we had was the Hot Night roll. I will definitely go back to try their other food items.

Atmosphere - The place was empty when we arrived, so I felt a little uneasy. Although I later noticed that it looked like they got an A on their health report certificate they had posted on their wall. There was a fair amount of tables and chairs in the restaurant. They also had full booths and half booth tables available. The restaurant was located inside of a shopping center parking lot. So, we had to drive inside a little bit and got a little lost. Eventually at least two other sets of customers arrived while we were there. The menus were placed on the table. They were paper menus in a plastic sheeting. No music. I liked that. I didn't visit the restroom. Temperature inside was good. I have been to a handful of places where it's been hot. Pictures of some of the food options on the wall. No patio. No problem since it is usually too hot outside to sit. Food - We ordered a katsu that came with rice. The katsu coating was a bit hard. The katsu was cooked well, and was not undercooked. It had a teriyaki sauce on top of it. The rice was fine. The spicy tuna was good. I thought it tasted fresh. We also had the citea roll with peanuts and eel sauce. It was pretty tasty and unique. It also tasted fresh. Service - I saw two employees there. The service here was fine. They had a sushi chef and one waitress. They let us pick our own seats and sit down. Ordering went well and the food came out a little slow. It took a little while for the sushi and katsu to arrive. Did not get a chance to ask for more ginger. The chef was outside smoking when we arrived. Background - Was in the area and I like sushi. The health score on their certificate on the wall for cleanliness showed an A, which was good. Parking - The parking lot is shared with other businesses. As usual, lots of good parking. No parking meters or parking structures. A parking structure with solar panels on top or plants would be nice. Otherwise, no shaded spots available. Future - I could see myself coming back here again to try something new, especially since the fish tasted fresh.

Decided to check this place out before heading to a movie and wow!! Great lunch specials, we decided to go off the regular menu. Great portions and extensive roll options! Our favorite was Candy Cane roll!!

We went here for my sister's birthday celebration. The place is really tiny, maybe accommodates 20 people. Servers were nice, they gave my sister a special roll and her choice of mochi. We ordered several rolls, some like the spicy rainbow roll were really good. While others like the tiger roll were just ok. It's worth a try if you are wanting to try a new sushi place.

Found this via a quick Yelp search bc we wanted some sushi after leg day. So glad we found this little gem! (It's kind of in a strip mall/complex attached to an AMC theater.) We had the Arizona, the Crispy Shrimp & Salmon, and the Spicy Tuna Rainbow -- all were fresh and delicious! We also ordered the Tiger and the Fantasy to go lol. The table next to us had the What the Heck -- it looked bomb sooo I'm going to try that one next time lol Service was fast and friendly!

Great food and great service! they are very welcoming everyone we come in we have tried a couple of their rolls now and every single one has been delicious the tempura shrimp and the gyozas are also very very good!

    Vegas. This one is fantastic.

This is the BEST Sushi I have ever had. We have been going for 5 years and we are never disappointed. The prices are great and the flavor is unsurpassed. The service is always wonderful. They always make us feel so welcome. Try the What the Heck even if you don't like Sushi. It might change your mind.

However, the inside of the restaurant does not look like it's been in the family for years as it's very well kept. All three dishes we got here were amazing and quite huge for the price! It's worth sharing with the table to try different dishes! The house pan fried noodles were soo good but it's best you eat them at the restaurant since the crispy noodles will get soggy if you order take-out. They also have an employee who makes pies and they sell them in house. The slices were huge for $7 or so! They had peanut butter chocolate and coconut!

Let me start with a little tid bit about Downtown Gilbert. There is nothing really special about it…read moreoutside of the vibe is right. Always a lot of people there so it makes you want to be there. Restaurant wise they have really basic offerings. Places you can find in Mesa, and Tempe, and Scottsdale. Now.... What truly makes Downtown Gilbert special are the small shops that are hidden away from the "main strip". One of those places is Clever Koi. Hidden in the Parking lot space behind Shaq's Chicken spot is a small strip of shops. A book store, smoothie place, and my favorite Clever Koi. Our family has very different tastes when we move from one member to the next. So finding places that we all like gets tricky. Clever Koi makes that easy because we honestly have yet to run into something we don't like. Let's start with our favorite starter. The steamed buns (giggity). The pork belly is hands down phenomenal. An amazing bite that literally makes you want more and more. The lazy fries are just that, again pork belly is included, but that garlic aioli is what drives this dish. The tai salad is obviously classic. The short rib dumplings literally make you close your eyes and just say "Mmmmmm". My middle child is the hardest pallet to please at any restaurant as he only eats certain things, but the Chicken Katsu sandwich here is his second favorite chicken sandwich in all this world. The first time he ate it he spent the whole ride home raving about it. Mind you, we live in San Tan, so not a short ride. The shaking beef is always good. It has this firey kick that brings the heat upfront but does not linger. You cannot forget about the fried rice here. Rice is one of my weaknesses in life second only to pizza. Fried rice ranks right up there with my top favorite ways to eat rice and this ranks right up there with my favorite fried rice places. The main reason we come here is because of the noodles. Ramen, ramen, ramen. When you think of Ramen, I assure you this is what you are thinking of. The broth is oh so savory and reigns in the fresh veggies and proteins to meld them with the noodles for a flavor punch each time you have a mouthful. They have great drinks here as well, or so I've been told by the other adults I come here with. I always just get a sake and Sapporo so... LOL The service is always good here and we somehow always manage to miss the lunch or dinner rush which is awesome. All in all... this is by far my favorite dining spot in downtown Gilbert. Great food, great drinks, great service, great atmosphere, in the middle of a great little square. A must eat for me.

Our server Maya was incredible and extremely knowledgeable on all dishes, drinks, and so many details of the restaurant! I've never had this good of service anywhere! My wife and I had the Pad See Ew with the braised chicken thigh which was INCREDIBLE. Perfectly chewy noodles, great seasoning. I highly recommend adding some of the homemade Fresno chile sriracha for a kick! The pork ramen was also very delicious. Be warned it's a lot of pork! My wife preferred it with the green jalapeño sriracha. The drinks were also very unique and delicious! A sideline view for me and riding the line for my wife. Oh and the best part was the dessert Bananas foster hush puppy puffs. These were so unique, seasoned with cinnamon sugar and Chinese 5 spice. It took some getting used to but the more you ate it with the Carmel toffee sauce the more I enjoyed it. All in all I can see why people love this place! It's a 5 star restaurant for a 3 star price! If you're looking to expand your flavor palette and have a wonderful evening I can't recommend Clever Koi enough!

Its in a building at the edge of a strip mall so seems like plenty of parking. There's a fun light display with the logo outside the front door on the sidewalk. Inside is very cute! They've definitely made an effort on the ambiance. There's also a nice side patio that looks like it has bamboo shades to make it less "strip mall". The staff here are very warm and welcoming. Great service! Throughout our dinner and our long sitting and chatting after, our waitress was friendly, checking in and offering soda refills. We had the shrimp tempura -- really good! A friend had sushi and loved it (and comes here regularly), and the rest of us all had stir-fries, which were all very good. I ordered Mongolian beef and asked if they had chili oil and our waitress asked if I wanted it in the dish or on the side and I said both, which was no problem. I went to Sakura a few months ago celebrate a friends little brothers birthday. It was about 5 of us all together. We did AYCE and ordered many different sushi rolls - I naturally gravitated towards the spicy ones since I love spicy tuna, salmon, etc. Unfortunately, I early on could tell that the food was not fresh. I thought maybe it was just the rolls I was trying so then I tried my friends rolls & the tuna had a very weird taste and consistency. As someone who eats spicy tuna rolls any chance I get, I have tried many sushi places and this one was one of the worst spicy tuna rolls . We finished our meals and chatted for a bit. I would say not even 40 minutes had passed since we finished eating when I started to get nauseous. I think the worst part overall was getting sick from eating here. I was sick for about 2 days and couldn't keep food down if you know what I mean. I didn't want to ruin the birthday fun for my friends so I didn't mention how bad of an experience I had. I'd like to mention that my partner got sick from the food as well so it was not just me. I am writing this in the hopes that the Sakura staff make an effort into looking into the way their sushi staff prepare the fish/food. Or maybe this is a bigger issue with the quality of the fish they buy.
