Sushi Broker has some definite highlights! We came for an early dinner and took full advantage of their generous Happy Hour (3-6:30 every day!)--great prices that made our meal super wallet-friendly. Food-wise, the calamari was just okay--nothing to write home about--but the Lollipop roll was fresh, light, and totally refreshing. The Diamondback roll had bold flavor and was a big hit at our table--perfect if you like something a bit more adventurous. That said, service was a bit underwhelming. They weren't busy, but our server was slow to check in, we had to ask for water refills (and even then didn't get much), and we ended up grabbing our own utensils from the side station. Not a huge deal, but it did take away from the overall experience. Still, good sushi, great happy hour prices, and a relaxed vibe--we'd come back, just hoping for a bit more attention next time! read more

Meh! Nothing was bad, but nothing was really that good either. 4 of us stopped in for Happy Hour on a Wednesday and maybe there were 1 or 2 other tables. Service wasn't bad, but with only 1 or 2 other tables, I thought they'd be all over us. We ordered, crab Rangoon and 5 happy hour rolls (California, Las Vegas, Diamond Back, Damn Good & Shrimp Tempura) and a Yakisoba with chicken bowl. Everything was OK, but nothing was worth having again. Anytime i have a crab roll with sliced of artificial crab, I know it's NOT gonna be great. Great first time! I came w/ a group of girls per one of their request cuz she loves it and now I do too! We caught the beginning of happy hour on a Friday and were the only ones for a hot minute (although they were filling up as we left) . But we had great service, sat on the nice patio, the whole restaurant is spacious tho ! Plenty of parking and clean bathroom just to note . Food wise, everything I had was delicious! Sake bombs were plentiful and our server really was great and flexible with us. Also happy hour is a steal especially as a Tucsonan in Phx for the weekend. I have been a Sushi Brokers fan since 2009 in Scottsdale. Unfortunately this Gilbert location has gone down hill. We were there during Saturday dinner hours and there was barely 5-7 tables in there. This place used to be packed and busy. The restaurant looks dirty and run down which makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like??? Not likely to go back. Server was nice. I love this place and think it's one of the best sushi in town. I get the cowboy, surfer, and lollipop roll so I am basing it off that. I sit at the bar and the service is always been great. Per my previous reviews, it's obvious I've given this place time and time again a second, third, and fourth chance. I can confidently say I will not return. The price of the food is higher for the quality of sushi, there are other sushi restaurants nearby that will give you larger, higher quality food for a better deal. I recently walked in to eat, seeing only one other person in the restaurant aside from staff, and waited at the front for at least 15 minutes before walking out because I hadn't been acknowledged yet the sign said "Wait to be seated" so I could not seat myself. The service is truly inexplicable. It seems as though the managers / owners have no desire to improve that environment so I will not return nor will I speak highly of the restaurant anymore. If you want a great dining experience, Masa Sushi and others are nearby that will give you just that. read more

I've been to sushi brokers many times in Gilbert and Phoenix but today's visit was so underwhelming and disappointing. The gyoza potstickers tasted like they were frozen and stale then reheated to a warm temperature. The crunchy roll which is so hard to mess up, was also a weird warm, like it had been sitting out. Very fishy tasting for it to just be shrimp and crab. We ate 2 pieces of the roll and 2 gyoza, left the rest at the front of the table. We asked for the bill and I was disappointed that the server didn't ask how it was or ask if anything was wrong. I'm not one to complain but showing attention when food is clearly not liked, would make me feel better about the experience. The only positive was the chili garlic edamame, and I've still had better. This visit makes me not want to come back again, unless it's to Phoenix and even then it's not worth the drive. read more

Awful. Would give 0 stars if i could. Took us 20 minutes (felt like a millennium) to be greeted by a server upon finding our seats. Looking at the menu, no regular tuna/salmon/yellowtail rolls, only spicy?? Why can't i get a regular salmon roll at a japanese restaurant? Hmm maybe because the fish is so low quality they only serve it mixed up with spicy sauce. Edemame came out last, probably 5 minutes before the check. One of them literally smelled and tasted like it came out of someone's butt and unfortunately i only realized after it was in my mouth (literally had to go to the bathroom and wash out my mouth after). Wish I was joking. All of which my poor grandmother paid 50$ for. Don't come unless you want to leave disappointed and pay for it. read more

I hate to say it... Sushi Brokers was not much better the second time around. I simply can't wrap my head around paying this much for mediocre sushi. It's not awful but man, does it just not match the price. The Volcano Chicken was dry.. the best part about that dish was the white rice. The ramen was bland as well. All of the rolls were delicious and the service was great. The only hiccup and removal of one star was, there was a long hair in one of our rolls. They remade it, but we were to scared to eat it, so it went to waste. We didn't ask for a refund because we're not those kind of people. However, it was disappointing they didn't proactively remove it off the bill when they saw it just sitting there on the table. Didn't care to much for the spring rolls as they were very mushy. But, the tempera vegetables were my favorite. For happy hour, not really much of a deal. But again, the rolls and vegetables were yummy. We'd definitely be back! read more

As expected, they weren't very busy and were able to seat us right away. Our server greeted us shortly and took our drink orders. I had the lychee bellini. It was refreshing and sweet, but I doubt I would order it again. We ordered the spicy garlic edamame and crab rangoon to start. The spicy garlic edamame was an immediate group favorite. Had a lot of spice and garlic! Then we ordered several rolls to share: cowgirl, smoked salmon, spicy tuna, lollipop, and surfer roll. The rolls were a decent size, some were even big. Everything looked and tasted fresh. My favorite out of the bunch was the cowgirl, which came with spicy yellowtail, cucumber topped with yellowtail, spicy mayo and sriracha, garnished with scallions. Be prepared to be hungry afterwards. I ordered a roll and a salmon entree. The roll was mediocre, but the salmon was tiny - when they brought it out, I thought it was a mistake. I was wrong. The salmon was about 2-3 oz at best - something that I would have not expected especially at the price point. My husband got the burger which was similarly smaller than you would find at McDonalds just to give you a visual. I was a little disappointed as we've come here before, we ordered takeout this time and the sushi seemed a little smaller than normal and the portion for the noodles was a little sad. I also noticed what tasted like bland noodles and unseasoned cooked chicken with a garlic sauce on top. Wasn't super edible. We had to ask for water repeatedly, had to ask for menus, had to ask for soy sauce. I'm not being uppity here and saying we needed to be treated like royalty, but we seriously had to ask at least 3 times per item. No bussing of tables, we were asked if we wanted the check while we were still eating- turns out she was ready to get cut for the night and wanted our tip rather than transferring us to another server. We ordered: Japanese old fashions- very good; kirin light- always good, prosecco- always good, and they had high noon cans which was also great. Food: sushi was either amazing or not great. Ordered 6 rolls total, we do like their variety. There were plenty of open tables but had to wait 20 minutes before being seated. Kept saying our rolls were almost done but took over an hour. Food was mediocre and overall not great. I am allergic to shellfish which I say at the beginning of the meal. I ask for no cross contamination and to make sure nothing has shellfish in it. I asked if the miso soup had shrimp paste, she said she didn't know and then gave me the soup anyways. Ended up not getting over half of our food because they never put in the order and didn't want to wait another hour after we flagged the server down to address it. Waters were consistently empty, ordered more cocktails and they never showed up. Our server gave up and said "do you just want to cash out?" after never even attempting to bring our remaining 3 rolls and drinks. Overall horrendous experience and will never be back. read more

The hype does not match the quality of food served. Very good looking space. Definitely more on the nice vs casual side, but its Phoenix you can be casual if you want to. The services was hit and miss. The hostess sat us in a dark corner outside and I think forgot about us. 15 minutes after sitting, we went inside and asked for service and someone finally brought us a menu. We then waited another 15 minutes and decided to ask if we could move inside because it seemed they had forgot us again. Once seated inside our waiter was actually really cool. The food is not authentic or good sushi but half of our crew cared that the waiter did not know what ponzu sauce was and half of our crew also did not know what ponzu sauce was, so I guess it depends on your sushi styles, but it was definitely not for me! read more

I was served raw fish in my sushi... it's supposed to be fried. The out side of it was fried but some how the fish wasn't? Never have I seen fried Las Vegas roll with raw fish. And I got 2 of these rolls which were 17 each and both came raw. So it's definitely just how they make their food if both came raw I suppose. So do I have to keep in mind when I get fried anything here it's comes raw? Maybe I had to ask for it be double fried? I'm confused on was fried means at this establishment. read more

I wish I could give this place a 0. My partner and I walk in to an empty restaurant with 4 workers behind the sushi bar. The sign said, "Please wait to be seated". We stood there for around 4-5 minutes and no one came to seat us and we did not even get greeted. No welcome in, we'll be right with you, just blank stares from the workers behind the bar. Atmosphere inside was nice, a bit upbeat. Sat at the bar. Our server was D' Angelo. The additional customer service here was sure a "stand out" too! Greeted and welcomed by so many staff. Addressed "right away" by the Sushi Artist- Jose, Joe & Caesar. All were super friendly and engaging. We also had a sweet acknowledgement from the adorable bartender who brought us our drinks promptly and we chatted with her many times throughout our dining experience. I had a glass of GLS Conundrum White that matched perfectly with the sunshine roll. Blends of citrus In both were exceptional. Hubby had an Asahi. We started off with the warm spicy edamame. Delicious and just the right amount for two as an appetizer. The sushi choices on the menu aren't overwhelming. There's a few additional options such as salads and noodles that are offered as well. Our rolls were created on the spot, fresh, delicious and artfully presented. My husband had the Caterpillar Roll & again, I had the Sunshine Roll. Both were outstanding. *Huge plus- happy hour 7 days a week and offer a reverse happy hour late in the evening.* Call and ask for the details. We will definitely be back- soon! Shrimp fried rice $13 ($6 for rice and $7 for TWO shrimp!!) We asked about the price compared to the amount of shrimp and the server immediately went to get the manager. The manager came over and explained the price of shrimp is more expensive these days and there is truly only TWO shrimp in an order of shrimp fried rice. Um, what? I can get a shrimp taco at the restaurant next door for $3.50 and it has more than TWO shrimp.
