We arrived around 7:45 pm -- over an hour before closing -- and they were already clearing away signs and barely adding anything new to the conveyor belt, (no warning before seating us either)... so the options were extremely limited. It's really hit or miss here. Some days the selection is great... other days, like today, the choices were pretty horrible. And they start clearing the belt wayyyyy too early. We actually spent less than usual and ended up going somewhere else afterward to finish our meal. No salmon rolls, no tiger rolls, no dragon rolls, no rainbow rolls... and I'm sure there were more missing that I'm forgetting. Friendly servers. I came here for a quick lunch with my mom. I love that this sushi spot offers a variety of sushi and other menu options there's def something for everyone. Prices are reasonable making it an easy place to enjoy without breaking the bank. The sashimi platter was by far the best thing I've tried from here so fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. (The chef even took a picture of it hehe he was very proud) For under $20 it felt like a great deal for the quality and portion size. The ramen on the other hand was eh. This location is still open and it was really bad. The ambiance is very lackluster and depressing. The service was pretty nonexistent. No menus were given just grab from the belt. I come here every time I am visiting family, we come here for lunch. The staff are really friendly, and we get seated very quickly every time. This is my favorite place to come to when I am very quickly for the reasons of being seated quickly, and it is very easy to grab a plate. There have been some times I have come where I feel like they do not have many sushi options out. I think it just depends on the time of day, which is nice that they do not make a massive amount of rolls if there are not many people there. I have always liked any of their salmon rolls, however, not such a big fan of their tuna rolls which is disappointing because I love tuna. The tuna just has not tasted as fresh in my opinion. There chicken teriyaki has chicken that is a little too chewy for my taste, so I stick to the philly roll, salmon rolls, or classic california rolls. Sometimes you just want two pieces of a sushi but not the whole roll. The best things about Teharu is that you can choose just what you want in the amount you want. It's also a good way to try things without committing to a whole roll. The sushi is delicious! If you've never been to revolving sushi, it's a very simple system. You just grab the plate you want of the conveyor belt. As you finish, b stack your empty plates. Each color of plate is a different price, (i.e red plates are each $2, blue plates are each $4, etc.). Well....that was interesting! Love the concept....its like standing around the luggage carousel at the airport. You see other peoples luggage and think "hmmm, that looks nice, I wonder what's in there?" But you can't take it, you know because it's against the law or something. So you just wait until your luggage arrives and you take it. Well, in this scenario you can take what ever you want! The sushi was ok? Not horrible..... Also, I'm more of a nigiri guy, I love it!! Most of the options that conveyed by me were various sushi rolls. Place was clean, our waitress was nice, and I did leave full and satisfied. If you want good sushi, there are much better options. We get a variety of plates and of all colors (Prices) This was our typical evening dinning experience and our 4yo and 7 yo didn't eat that much. (I don't have a count of the plates but it was a typical event for us) Food was reasonable good and the bill was $51.44 and we left a $7.00 tip. This place is alright. Typical cheap and all you can eat. I don't expect the best quality because it's all you can eat but it's good for what it costs. The service is lacking. You can tell since it's all you can eat that they don't care to really be attentive or check in on you. They just stand around and talk and when you ask them over they hardly even smile and look like you're burdening them by having them come over to you. It's small and could do better on decor but that doesn't typically sway me away from a restaurant. Overall, I might come back but it'll be quite some time. read more

My husband and I were in the area with our two kids and niece and nephew. My niece and nephew had never been to a revolving sushi bar before and we were excited for them to have the experience. This particular place only has the belt around a "bar" area and when we walked in there were six seats available where we could all grab what we wanted and the kids were excited . We were instantly told we had to grab a table where their was no belt. I'm very disappointed to write this review. Tonight at dinner with my two children, my infant was making fun playful laughter and screams. I was playing with him to keep him entertained and not cry while I was waiting to pay. While sitting with my back to the kitchen, the kitchen staff was having conversation about my baby and one member even yelled quiet in Spanish to him. Everyone in the kitchen started laughing INCLUDING the OWNER! I spoke with the server to let her know but I know it is rather pointless since the owner obviously doesn't care about his customers. That is absolutely unacceptable and disgusting. He is a baby, who was happy. I am a paying customer. No one in the restaurant seemed bothered by him. My family and I went there today for my son's birthday. This is the place he chose because we've been there before and had a good time. Last time we went there, the sushi was ok. It was a fun atmosphere with the conveyor belt, but this time I was not about to test my luck. I didn't eat a thing. All the fish and avocado looked so old and one of my kids said the goyza was cold. There was small fruit flies in a couple of dishes on the conveyor belt I noticed. I will see how my kids fair. They wanted to stay and partake. While Teharu remains a very good spot for conveyor belt sushi, we have been somewhat underwhelmed in our recent visits to this branch. The Las Vegas roll today was chewy, which means it's been sitting there for a while; it's weird though because the restaurant was full and it's Saturday's dinner so we always expect a higher turnover. This was also the case with a couple of other rolls that had fried shrimps in them. Did they decide to fry everything ahead of time to be prepared for the weekend dinner rush? Might be a faster option but the fresh ones are more delicious. The restaurant was also pretty warm and this makes me worry because we are eating seafood, some of which is raw. They also ran out of clean soy sauce bowls so I was given a small plastic container, the one used for take out sauces/dressings. Not super major issues to stop us from returning, but I just had to be honest in my review and downgrade by 1 star. -------------------------------------------------- It was a big surprise when I found out Teharu had a branch right here in Mesa! My first experience with Teharu was at the Scottsdale branch. I saw it many times while walking past it to dine at another restaurant and always said I would try it and I did and both I and my husband liked it. So when we had a sushi craving again and my husband said, wish we had one close by, I checked Yelp and tadaaaaaa! Yesssss! We have one that's 20 min away from us! The location her is similar to the Scottsdale branch, only this branch is somewhat smaller. You come in and write your name on the waitlist (because they are almost always busy), you choose whether you prefer the bar (which is relatively small), a table or no preference, and then sit and wait for your party's name to be called. Only once were we seated immediately. This was midweek and at around 4:00pm. The restaurant was not busy then. Since we have tried going on different days of the week and different times of day, we noticed that the best experience we had was on a Friday night. The belt was full and dishes were being replaced very quickly. Also, the whole belt area was open (they close the end part of it at particular times of day, I guess when they are not expecting to be busy). Most of their rolls are our favorites now. I only eat either cooked seafood or imitation crab so I don't eat everything that's on the belt but they have a pretty decent selection for me. (My husband eats some raw ones. He likes salmon). One of my favorite rolls is the baked scallop roll. Apparently, they do not place it on the belt unless someone orders it and then the rest is placed on there for other people to enjoy. On all occasions, we were the ones to order it at the time when we were there. They bring them right to your table when you order. Service is good at this restaurant and they check on you at least once during your lunch/dinner. Once you're done, they count the number of dishes and figure out the price based on the color of the plate (the prices of the dishes we get usually range between $2-$2.5 each). I've been here a number of times, and have had really decent service here. Last night was rough and disappointing because the service was REALLY bad. To be fair, we were in a hurry to catch a movie, but i still have a good sense of good vs bad service. We stood at the front entrance for roughly 5 minutes before someone even acknowledged us. Waited another 8 min before getting a table. I would've been more understanding if it was busy, but it didn't appear busy to me. Then when we sat down, it wasn't until 10 or 15 min before we got any water after asking a couple of times. By this time, we got the hint that we weren't going to get much service and didn't bother to ask for any soy sauce dishes and just started our conveyer belt sushi pickings!! On the brighter side, the sushi was pretty good as usual and a server finally noticed and brought us a couple of soy sauce dishes as we were finished eating!! Better late than never I guess!!! I wonder if anyone would've noticed if we just left without paying. Maybe a good experiment for next time??? We upheld our good citizen status this time and paid at the front counter no check in hand and all!! Even though this experience was, by far, my least favorite experience here thus far, I'll probably come back another time when I have an urge for some quick and ez sushi fix!! **Update: We haven't been here in a while for our Friday night double date and it has changed for the better. The quality of the sushi has improved and the service is way better. All the staff were working together to make sure all the tables get checked on regularly. Such a great improvement! I come here almost every Friday because I like the variety of sushi and the reasonable prices. Service is usually slow and it is not high end sushi, but the sushi is good and I can try different stuff. Their dragon roll is delicious and just the right amount of spicy. The jalapeño rolls are good, but you never know if you are going to get a hot one or a mild one. Most of the rolls are reasonably good. I don't eat sashimi, so I can't speak to that. The potstickers, if they are warm, are good. Why come here every Friday if I am only giving it three stars, you ask. read more

Good belt sushi spot in the east valley. Don't expect super fresh sushi but just expect good sushi for a great price. All around they have a great selection of rolls to choose from. Most of the time you are able to get in and out really quick and not pay too much for sushi. It ranges from around $1.5 to $3 a plate on the belt which is super good! I really enjoy the haru poppers which is a deep fried jalapeno filled with crab and mayo with a nice sweet sauce. Super yummy! One other thing I like about this place is the music. They usually have a great mix playing and they generally are within a specific decade. Nothing is better than enjoying some sushi to 90s hip hop! The other negative reviews are spot on. The sushi is warm, odd because I'm pretty sure raw fish is supposed to be cold. The Vegas roll would be an exception, but the Vegas roll here isn't a Vegas roll. It's basically a California roll with cream cheese and tempura. No salmon. Also lukewarm and soggy. The bathroom takes the win! Diarrhea and vomit coated walls and stalls. Maybe it's the warm sushi? This place comes off as cheap, with plates maxing out at 4 dollars. Staff is always there and attentive to anything you need, the price is decent for the taste and quantity of sushi, and it's really nice to be able to see what it is before you try it. October 28, 2019. First visit to here. We arrived about 8:54 pm. I informed the person seating us it was our first visit. They informed us that it was later at night so there wasn't as much as there normally was on the conveyor. They did not at all mention that if there was something on the belt we liked and it was out to ask for it and they would make it. I found this out only as we were done and I heard someone asking for Las Vegas rolls to be made since there weren't any. Basically it's pretty straight forward. A conveyer belt rotates around the whole store with different varieties of sushi or other items. There is a small card right before each item explaining what is in each one. You can order beverages off the menu, udon, ramen, tempura... You are seated and a card on the wall has the cost of each plate color. Red, green, white, yellow. You take what plates you like and they count the color of plates for each one and that is your bill. Once seated I ordered a root beer, and my friend a water. I tend to go through quite a few glasses of beverage when a waiter/waitress actually does their job. I finished my soda almost immediately after receiving it. We were approached 3 times during our visit asking if wanted something to order off the menu. But only on the third visit was I asked if I wanted a refill on my empty cup. Generally I tend to just ask for refills but they weren't really stopping by us to ask. They were walking as they were talking, and passing without stopping. This, is very rude customer service. Stop. Make eye contact. Ask the customer if they have further needs. Do a quick glance over their items to anticipate needs... The food was very average and I didn't find it any better made or higher quality than I could find on most Chinese buffets. It was an interesting experience but not my style. read more
