"How's everything so far? Good? Ok." After completing my workout I was wondering on what I should eat afterwards and I just so happened to be craving sushi. However, the usual spot I recently ate at for all you can eat sushi had shut down...I did remember watching a video about the sushi challenge for Crazy Tuna on TikTok awhile ago and I was amazed...But I didn't want to attempt and be pictured in the hall of shame. So I came here. "How are we doing so far?" I showed up during the evening and was greeted by the hostess and they kindly showed me how to order. It was pretty similar to other all you can eat sushi spots but this location does not use a tablet to order which I liked. The ambiance was dark but well lit. It was quite cozy while I ate alone. "How are we doing so far here?" I glanced over the menu and saw a plentiful amount of sushi rolls and nigiris...but I lately I've been enjoying handrolls...On their menu there was not an option for handrolls so I asked a kind, attentive server about it and they said "just mark HR next to the one you'd like". So I ordered 3 spicy tuna handrolls and miso soup for the first round. I did not wait too long for my food to arrive. The quality of the food was delightful and fresh. I really enjoyed the "How are we here?" sushi rice; it had a nice vinegary taste to it. Besides the sushi hand rolls I also ordered some specialty rolls which I unfortunately do not remember the name of...but it was delicious. The miso soup was pretty standard for its taste, nothing too special. While eating I did notice that the service was odd...but I was not annoyed by it...Some servers would stop by my table to check up on me frequently and ask "How are we doing so far?" Maybe they had a complaint about their service l? Who knows? This kind of service was quite funny to me but I still enjoyed my food. Overall, Crazy Tuna will be my go to spot for all you can eat sushi in Chandler. The price is reasonable, the service is top notch and very attentive, and the atmosphere is cozy. I haven't been able to make it to crazy tuna in a while so was excited to make it over last week. We went during lunch time on a Friday and were less than impressed. Service was slow even with being one of 3 tables in there, we had to wait a while to put our first order in, and flag someone down to get our bill even with multiple servers standing around chatting. As many reviewers mentioned they changed their rice I went in with an open mind however as many mentioned the rice completely changes the flavor of the sushi. The black/purple rice is not optional and it's not as sticky as their previous rice and has hard pieces in it. I stopped in to Crazy Tuna as it was conveniently located near Chandler/Tempe. They have all you can eat sushi priced out per person but I opted to order à la carte since I was not too hungry. I haven't seen any review mentioning their new rice choice. It sounds like last week they made a switch from sushi to black rice. I wasn't told about this swap until after I place my first round order and had never tried this rice before. The staff was upbeat and used all the talking points about nutritional benefits of black rice While the rice was tasty, in my opinion it's not a great choice to replace sushi rice. Black rice is a hearty filling whole grain with a very strong nutty earthy flavor that totally overpowers the sushi flavors. It doesn't really fit well in an AYCE style restaurant and should be offered as an option rather than the default. The portion sizes here are huge with most rolls coming with 8 pieces which is great for sharing in a large group of friends not so great for the solo diner. They also won't serve the rolls in smaller portions. The quality of the fish was delicious and the staff was amazing. Everyone I met was so friendly, attentive, and accommodating. I came with a group and decided not to attempt the all you can eat, but rather enjoy items from the à la carte menu. The restaurant is located in a strip mall near IHOP. The interior is larger than it appears and the menu is fairly large. We were a group of five and ordered a variety of items. Since this is Korean owned I thought I would also try the Korean bulgogi, which was fairly priced and plated aesthetically. The taste was authentic without having to cook it yourself. There was plenty of wait staff waiting to take our order and many of the items arrived quickly. Since we were ordering à la carte, they would check in on us periodically. Walked in with a group of 4 and were pleasantly accommodated right away. There was a helpful tall gentleman that kept checking on us throughout our all you can eat experience which was very nice. So, the food! It was delicious! I have to say my brother in law is very ambitious so by the end I was just trying to finish what we had left instead of savoring it. That being said, we had all the nigiri and sashimi, carpaccio and two rolls, scallop appetizer, miso, baked dynamite roll, poke nachos, etc.! Some knockouts were the seared salmon carpaccio, ceviche salmon roll, mango salsa carpaccio, ahi/salmon/albacore nigiri, dynamite roll were all knockouts. However, during our most recent visit, we were surprised to find that the restaurant has switched to black rice for their sushi. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. I went during Happy Hour because it's a bit cheaper. But it's Christmas, and they don't have Happy Hour for holidays. Oh well. We went with the Sushi Lovers all you can eat for $33.95? The Sashimi Lover is more expensive. The sushi was pretty good, and came fairly fast. We also ordered the dynamite roll and baked salmon roll. I really liked the baked salmon roll. The service was very good. I'm glad we finally got to try this place. This is my new favorite AYCE sushi place!! The last place I frequented went down in quality, but this place really does have the best sushi (for an AYCE place!) The menu has a huge variety too, appetizers are a hit or miss, go with more people so you can share and try it all. Nigiri - yes, yes, yes, can't go wrong here, the quality of the cuts were great, the chefs know what they're doing, the seared Cajun nigiri are really good and must try Baked scallop roll- delicious and lots of scallops Mango Tango roll - this roll is ADDICTING if you like sweet things Seaweed salad - generous on the seaweed, love it Beef bulgogi roll - it was okay, meat was dry so can pass Takoyaki - yummy but with one piece of squid in the middle Coconut shrimp - you can really taste the coconut, it's great! My friend and I met up here dinner last week. I have been in once before but it was her first time. It was pretty busy at 7pm but luckily a table opened up within 5mins. We were seated all the way in the back area. It was pretty cold in the restaurant, which made it difficult to sit through the entire meal. We chose the sashimi AYCE which was $45. I must have read the wrong price thought it was $35. Staff were friendly and service was good. We did have to ask for fresh wasabi, ponzu twice and a drink menu twice but no biggie. Our waitress did come and check if we wanted to put more orders in often. The quality is alright. Not bad. Im not a huge fan of AYCE sushi spots because I prefer better quality over quantity. I like the carpaccio choices and the cajun salmon but I could tell some were not the best quality that night. Surprisingly, the uni nigiri was good but we were limited to only 2 nigiris each and wish we could've ordered more rounds of that. This place is okay. A bit higher priced than its other AYCE sushi competitors (Junn, Sakura, A Sushi & Grill). The service is prompt and friendly. Drinks were always filled and food came out quick. Two huge complaints though. The rice to fish ratio was awful lol. I understand that most AYCE places try to fill you up with the rice, but this place wasn't even trying to be demure with it. It felt like 75%rice 25%fish. There were also stipulations on how many rolls/nigiris/signature rolls/sashimis you can order per round... which technically doesn't really make it AYCE. It also kind of takes the experience out of leisurely trying things out, and trying to fulfill your quota in the first round. They have great happy hour pricing! I would take your business to A Sushi and Grill, sadly. First of all, service from our waiter Christian was amazing, friendly, and fast, ambience was also fine, no complaints there. My main complaint is with how stingy this business is. It's normal to charge for leftovers at AYCE, but here they charge even for RICE left on the plate. This was especially annoying given that they stack the nigiri with as much rice as they possibly can. Not only that, but even if you take the L and pay the leftover fee, they don't even let you take it home. You have to pay a separate $13.95 fee to have a to-go box. Unbelievable. To top it all off, almost all of the rolls were built around fake crab salad and shrimp tempura--cheap and filling. Tried this spot out for the first time and it was pretty good! I got the Las Vegas roll and the spicy tuna roll. Both rolls were great! I felt the Vegas roll was a tad bit smaller than what I'm used to but still very delicious. The spicy tuna roll was perfect and had a bit of sweetness to it. The service was amazing. The staff help one another out and ask each table if they need anything, not just one person dedicated to an area, so great team work! Inside it was very cute and nicely decorated. AYCE sushi can be a rather scary proposition. This place is not at all scary. Not perfect, but we can understand the popularity. Arrived just at opening for dinner, 4pm, and got right in. Filled up quickly. Very nice server explained menu, brought drinks. We chose the middle option, AYCE sushi menu Started with cucumber salad, coconut shrimp, tempura shrimp. Everything was pretty good, shrimp were very good. Entree round began with several choices of nigiri. I did not enjoy! Fish, particularly the salmon did not taste fresh, and the slicing of a couple pieces was poorly done, including bits of skin & chewy parts. The shumai was a disappointment. The rolls are another story. Crazy tuna roll was very tasty, as were the other 2 whose names I don't recall. We are ourselves to a comfortable level, trying as wide a variety as we could. Service was very good, the restaurant is clean and comfortable, nice clentele! With drinks( hot green tea was $5) and tip came to about $100 bucks. It's sad to see how far this place has gone downhill. Crazy Tuna used to be our go to spot whenever we were in town. This time it felt like I paid $35 for all you can eat rice. The nigiri used to have an amazing rice-to-fish ratio and that's just not the case anymore. On top of that, the service was terrible. No one ever asked for our drink order and every time plates were brought out they would hand them directly to us instead of being set on the table...leaving us to clear space ourselves. Another issue was that we had a 10-year-old with us who only wanted teriyaki chicken and rice and they wouldn't allow us to order that for him. We were forced to pay full AYCE price instead. I understand that rules exist because some people take advantage but are they really worried about a kid breaking their bank? Not sure what happened here but I really hope they fix it. read more

Like most AYCE sushi restaurants they have a wide selection of choices. You mark down how many you want of whatever. They have 3 sushi levels to choose from. Roll Lover which is just the basic rolls, including all appetizers and stuff, Sushi Lover which includes all the fancy rolls and Sashimi Lover which is the full menu, including sashimi (obvie). 3 things I LOVE about this place: 1. Easily the best rolls around and a wide selection of other items. All food is super fresh. 2. Service. The manager Christian does a great job running front of house. He is welcoming and funny, even on the busiest of nights. 3. Vibes. Idk who's playlist they got going but I swear every time I eat here the entire time I'm like OMG I LOVE THIS SONG! This past Saturday we stopped in with a group of friends. I had called to make a reservation but there were only 4 of us and reservations are for parties 5 and up. Christian did say we could call ahead and get pit in the list, if there was a wait. If you go on a weekend, expect a wait. We were meeting at 730 so I called around 7pm. He told me it was a 30-45 min wait. Perfect! We arrived little after 730 and our table was waiting on us. We had the most sweet and fun server named Drew. He took the time to recommend drinks and did the full experience presentation since I was the only one who had been there. Our dinner was fantastic, as always. This used to be my husband's and my favorite AYCE sushi spot--we were here almost every week. Unfortunately, over the past few visits, we've noticed a decline in both food and service quality. The sushi rolls and nigiri are now very heavy on rice, to the point where it feels like the goal is to fill you up faster rather than focus on quality. The biggest disappointment for us, though, was the sashimi. The sashimi tier is priced higher and has ordering limits, which might be understandable if the quality were consistently good--but it isn't. During our most recent visit, the first round of sashimi was fresh and nicely cut, which encouraged us to order a second round. The second round, however, was fishy and poorly cut, with a lot of bloodline left on the fish. The inconsistency was hard to ignore. When you're paying extra and being restricted, the quality really needs to justify it--and unfortunately, it didn't. What made this even more frustrating was that when we tried to share this feedback with the staff, we were told they couldn't take it back or we'd be charged for leftovers. This wasn't about wasting food--we would have eaten it if it matched the quality of the first round. We were simply trying to point out a genuine issue. While there are other AYCE sushi restaurants offering better-quality sashimi at a lower price, with no limits and much more consistent cuts, this restaurant still has one of the best varieties and unique flavors. I truly hope this place takes feedback seriously and works on returning to the quality it used to have. I'd really love to see it become our go-to spot again. read more

I adore a good AYCE sushi spot. Crazy Tuna was recommended a few times by different people and we decided to stop in. This is an excellent AYCE spot. I love that they show you a menu to help you understand the different level options and what comes with it. And then once you decide, they give you a menu with all that is included in that tier. Service is incredibly quick. Every server was helpful and kind. My nephew got a little demanding about edamame but they were kind and found it endearing. Food was amazing. Portions were great for sharing. I really loved the poke salad. Honestly, i keep thinking about it. The nigiri isn't too rice heavy which is nice. I like the no-rice rolls a lot. The place is packed and sometimes there's a wait for a table. I liked it better in the early days. The fish was sliced big and the slices were cold. Nowadays the slices are smaller and today was warm. At least I like that the fish still tastes fresh. I tried a lot of the speciality rolls: Chandler handle, Jessica albacore, and Cactus dragon roll. The Jessica albacore was quite spicy. They ran out of yellowtail sashimi. We ended up getting the tuna and salmon sashimi. The takoyaki was a little different than I remember. The inside was still soft and the outside was still crunchy. Best when hot. The regular rolls are smaller than the specialty rolls, so they are easier to eat. We had the spicy tuna and the salmon plus avocado regular rolls. They were super busy today and forgot to get us ginger and wasabi. After we asked, they were able to provide for us. We ran out of water but luckily we had an extra cup of water on the table. They usually forget at least one item from our order and somehow put in items that we have scratched out. Came to crazy tuna and was very disappointed the service I once fell in love with and how fast and kind the waiters are. We sat down and we were never checked on for a good 30 mins. We finished our waters and our plates were cleared out the way & our paper waiting on the corner of the table... until I finally was able to get a waiter from the table next to us to put our order in and get us our drinks. While my brother was in town he wanted to go check out an all you can eat sushi spot. After talking to a few friends and such my daughter ended up telling us about Crazy Tuna. A lot of her friends recommend it she said. So we made the drive out to Chandler to give it a try. We were quickly impressed with both service and food quality. There was already a line at the door to get in when we arrived ( they opened at 4 this day). We quickly got a table. A few of us were not doing the all you can eat, but they were wonderful and just split our tables to tell apart but let us sit still as a group technically. We tried many things, but by far my favorite was the Jessica Albacore. It was light fresh and amazing flavor. The spicy edamame was definitely spicy ha ha . My brother and son left stuffed from the AYCE and we weren't far behind. The roll sized were great. I recommend the highest prices AYCE which I believe was the sashimi because it allows you to eat all the sushi etc off every menu. Parking was great no issues there. Having been here twice, I think I'm ready to give my opinion. The latest trip had us getting the $44.95 sashimi lover. This one is the one to get as you get to order off the whole menu. And if you're like me and my friends, all the rice in a roll isn't appealing. Sashimi and some nigiri, please. The fish quality is good. The fish glistens, which comes from being freshly cut. They don't try to sneak in too much rice either, so I respect the integrity. Unlike the first visit, which they drowned everything in ponzu, spicy mayo, and/or unagi sauce, they practiced more restraint, and everything was balanced. Even the carpaccio was a delight. He remembered me from my last visit and don't ask me why I said his name is Michael, but it's DAVID! He and his staff once again came through with quick, attentive service and the fresh, delicious food. We left nothing behind. Since I'll be in this area more often now, I know I'll continue to come back again and again. The only things that could make this even better is if they had Ikura and Uni!!! I can live without Nemo, but I'd love for them to add it to their menu. Still, at the prices they have going, it's an unbelievable deal! Basic sushi and sashimi. I opted for regular sushi which was $33.95 per person.. Sashimi was around $11 more and had little more option of sushi you can order. But if it's more than one person both have to order same option. Nice variety of appetizer and salad to choose from and nice selections of sushi. I have to say the quality of food was over all best from other A.Y.C.E. Sushi. But just like the other all you can eat sushi, stay away from rolls. They are huge and it will fill you up quick. Good thing I only ordered one. Miso soup was nice and hot. Sushi quality was pretty darn good. I was full and I didn't even touch 30% of the choices on the menu.
