Chicken, 4 Piece California Roll, Gyoza 3 Gyoza
Heather G.

In n out was too packed so I wandered in here. The only thing I truly enjoyed was the gyoza. The California rolls were like a grocery store sushi. The rice chicken and vegetables weren't very good. I had about half left and just threw away. Just lacked flavor. Thursday evening, not busy. Service was patient and friendly, as I had questions since it was my first time. You're typical take out vibe that was clean. Plenty of seating. Ample parking. I would skip this unless you need a quick snack and you could probably trust in the gyoza until you get to your final food destination.

Edo is solid for what it is- fast, casual, and healthy dining. It's similar to Yogis Grill in terms of concept/price/quality. It's as healthy as you make it (brown rice vs. white rice, vegetables, less sauce). I get the teriyaki sauce on the side and 1 is more than enough. I agree it is a bit on the sweeter side. I enjoyed it the first 2-3 times, but this last visit I noticed there's more rice than chicken, and the chicken is practically ground chicken, it's so small. For $11, I guess that's the price you pay.

The world needs more of these fast casual Japanese restaurants. We didn't want anything fancy I really just wanted something fast so we stopped here and boy was that a great idea! It's set up like any fast food place - - It counter that you order at with the menu on the board. After you order the counter they will bring your food to the table. There are so many choices there from sushi, bowls, tempura, or have a little of everything in a bento that you choose. All of us got bentos put together a little bit differently. Everything was really good - - some of the best gyoza that I've had. The staff there is very nice and friendly. The food is really reasonably priced, and you get quite a bit of it for the money. I would love to see more of these places around!

Did you know that Edo used to be the name for Tokyo. And that a very long time ago, it was the largest city in the world? Another fun tidbit, Tokyo is 5799 miles from Chandler, AZ. This is a fairly new restaurant to our area. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. They will also do their best to help you order what you really want. It's counter service and then they will bring it out. Everything is brand new. So very clean.

I was excited to see a new fast casual spot open near my work...especially a Japanese-inspired restaurant. I tried this place during lunch hours and there were a few patrons which was good to see because I peeked in the place the prior week when dining next door and nobody was there. It's a bright and clean establishment which I'd expect as it's brand new. It has a spacious dining room, not a lot of tables but they have good room between them. Unfortunately there's no outdoor dining tables. I would normally try the bento box out of the gate but I wasn't very hungry so I opted with the standard teriyaki chicken bowl. It was fairly large and includes broccoli, cabbage, mushrooms and two scoops of their teriyaki sauce. I found this interesting as they asked me if I wanted 'extra scoops of teriyaki' but I declined. The bowl was hot and tasty. The large grained white rice was well cooked (not too sticky and mushy like some other teriyaki bowl places around). The chicken was cut into quite small pieces and it was hard to tell it was white meat on the first few bites. The chicken may have been the worst part of the bowl because it didn't have any distinct flavor if not covered in the teriyaki sauce. The teriyaki sauce was good- not too sweet and not too thick and sticky. Overall, I liked the bowl compared to some local competitor bowls, but it wasn't the best teriyaki chicken I've ever had. They also offer beef bowls, shrimp, tofu, tuna poke varieties, Hawaiian chicken and orange chicken. Noodle bowls are also available. I will likely try a different variety in the future. However, I've decided this place is good enough to try again and I'll be ordering a bento bowl next time. The bento boxes are build-your-own and include the main course bowl options above and additionally they have main-course sushi options (cali roll, dynamite roll, tiger roll or volcano roll). The bento box combo also includes a drink and 2 sides - side options are grilled gyoza, spring rolls, tempura shrimp, cali rolls and edamame. They have boba and other specialty milk tea drinks on the menu, but I just had iced tea. The prices seemed reasonable compared to other fast-casual lunch places. I talked to the manager for a minute and he was really talking up the food and how much care they take into serving nutritious and delicious options. I'm sold and I'll be back at some point.

It was the first time going to this place, I ordered a bento box which was delicious! I noticed how clean the place is, and the workers were very polite and kind to me. I would recommend this place to all and I will be coming back to eat here again.

This place is a hidden gem in Chandler. Everything I've tried is delicious, fresh and cooked to order. The prices are very reasonable and they give you perfectly sized portions. The employees are friendly and they keep the place clean. It is becoming my go to Asian convenient food spot.

Second time here this week. I got the Hawaiian chicken bowl again because it's just that good. The food is fresh, full of flavor, and the portions are great for the price. This place is definitely turning into one of my regular spots.

Chicken teriyaki bento with shrimp and sushi and taro boba drink.

Good food at a good value. My go to for fast food teriyaki was Yogi's and their Arizona bowl is my favorite. This is a great alternative. The teriyaki sauce was not as sweet and had good flavor. Sides were good although I wish the shrimp came with tempura sauce. Taro boba was decent enough. Service was prompt and friendly. Will be stopping by for lunch again.

This Canadian based restaurant is a new gem in Chandler. For fast Japanese with many options for a quick bite to eat. The seating is plentiful for the size of the restaurant. The bento combo offers a nice portion of a bowl, two sides and a beverage. The tofu teriyaki was well seasoned with a nice crisp and the rice was well cooked. It did come with sautéed mushrooms, which I would have liked to have known. The sauce was a bit salty for my liking but overall good flavors. I also did not use the prepackaged Sweet and Sour sauce that was provided. The fried chicken came with two sauces and the shrimp poke bowl was very fresh. The poke bowl had nice amounts of shrimp, tuna, kale, broccoli, cucumber and avocados. Perhaps a place where ingredients are listed could be helpful. While we were visiting, the manager greeted us and thanked us for visiting. We received a special coupon for the grand opening special and a few return coupons from the lovely manager. We are delighted that this restaurant is here and it's in a great location!

Hawaiian Chicken, added some hot sauce. Wow! YUM!

Wonderful new addition to Chandler! The food is fresh, delicious and plentiful! Love the options of rice, noodles and bento boxes. The chicken yakisoba and pineapple chicken rice bowl are really good! Congratulations on bringing good food options to our neighborhood. We will be back soon!

I was waiting for Edo Japanese Grill to open! We enjoyed our food because it is made fresh. The staff was friendly and the company CEO stopped by the table and asked us how we liked it during the grand opening! I love having a really fresh and healthy option for a quick meal and am excited about Edo opening here in the Valley!

I may not be able to eat sushi anywhere else after this!…read more I came for the Restaurant Week lunch deal and am so glad I finally made it here. Everything from service to ambiance to food was excellent. And I love that they brought lunch service back to this location! Friday, Saturday, Sunday only and still make a reservation! It was busy! I wanted something fun to drink but non-alcoholic, so the bartender stopped by to help me decide. I got the Miso Sour and it was so good! This had a nice balance of flavors. I started with the Hamachi Crudo which has grapefruit ponzu, lemon mayo, Serrano pepper, and thin cucumber slices. This was so good! Refreshing with just the right amount of spice. Next I enjoyed chopped salad and miso. The salad was very fresh and had a variety of goodies including edamame, purple cabbage, and avocado. The miso is so good!! It was delicate and yet so flavorful. I chose the Yuzu tuna roll option which has spicy tuna and avocado inside, with big eye tuna on top, garnished with micro cilantro, red onion, and yuzu. This was so good! I also thought their ginger stood out - I would bet they make this in house. I can see why this always has such great reviews!

My boyfriend and I came to Shimogamo for Mother's Day and ordered the five-course meal. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing compared to our previous visit. The biggest issue was the service. Our waitress, an older woman, came across as dismissive and unnecessarily rude throughout the evening. When we were seated, she offered complimentary rosé. I accepted a glass, but my boyfriend does not drink alcohol, so he politely asked if he could order a mocktail instead. Before he could even finish, she abruptly responded, "No, you can wait to place an order for that," as if he was trying to substitute the complimentary drink, which he was not. He was simply trying to order a beverage. Later, when the braised beef course was served, my boyfriend politely asked if he could have a spoon or fork. The waitress loudly repeated "A SPOON?" in a mocking tone in front of nearby guests, which made the interaction uncomfortable and embarrassing. As for the food, the five-course menu was average at best and far below what we expected from Shimogamo. The salmon tartare and sushi course were both excellent and showed the quality we remembered from our first visit. However, the remaining courses fell flat. The fried branzino was dry and seemed poorly prepared, despite the promising flavors of capers and cream sauce. The braised short rib felt completely out of place on the menu and lacked refinement it was dry, heavy, and more reminiscent of a chain steakhouse meal than an upscale dining experience. The entire dinner also felt rushed, with little attention to pacing or hospitality. What makes this especially disappointing is that we dined here back in November on a double date and had an incredible experience. We spent over $600 that evening, and the service and food were exceptional. Our waitress at that time was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. She guided us through recommendations, and every dish impressed us. That's why this visit was so surprising. Shimogamo clearly has the ability to provide an outstanding dining experience, which makes the decline in both service and execution even more concerning. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously because this restaurant was once one of our favorites.

They have happy hour sushi Tuesday through Thursday all day and 11am to 2pm Friday and Saturday. The fish is fresh with master sushi chef preparation the result is a high quality meal and experience. We ordered two Eel rolls, a maki tuna, a calamari roll, a spice salmon roll, a salmon avocado roll, two salmon maki rolls, a salmon on top California roll and three nigiri (salmon, white tuna, snapper). Our food arrived in about 15 min. The mood of the restaurant is relaxed and casual with low volume music in the background which made having a conversation easy. Everything was fresh tasting and delicious. Standouts were the Calamari, eel, and salmon maki rolls. The Asahi was an excellent complement for the meal. First time try it and like the extra dry finish better than Sapporo. It will be my go to sushi beer in the future. Highly recommended!
