They told us to please stay and we are so welcome and they were over the top accommodating. Everything was so good. The spicy miso wasn't my favorite flavor but that is just a personal preference. We had been craving ramen for days--it kept popping up on our social media feeds over and over again--so we finally gave in and decided to try this spot. They offer a nice variety of Japanese dishes, but we were definitely here for the ramen. The tonkotsu ramen had a nice creaminess to it, but it could've used a bit more depth of flavor. One thing I really liked is that you can order side appetizers along with your entrée, almost like building your own bento-style meal. We went with the deep-fried gyoza and gyudon. Nice little restaurant hidden from view. They have a selection if ramen and sushi. Seating is limited, so get there early. My son and his friend had ramen bowls, and they both enjoyed it. Absolutely Wonderful! My family and I visited Dozo while we were in town, and we were so impressed! The service was friendly and attentive from start to finish, and every dish we tried was amazing. The dumplings were flavorful, the meat skewers were tender and perfectly seasoned, the sushi rolls were fresh and delicious, and the tempura was light, crisp, and truly over the top! I always order a side of white rice, and theirs was honestly some of the best I've ever had--simple but so satisfying. Dozo is the kind of place you remember. My daughter and I went when they opened on a Saturday and had the bento box lunch specials and gyoza. Very tasty. I has the spicy beef and she had the chicken katsu. It comes with miso soup. It was hot and flavorful and will be great on a cold day. The restaurant is very clean and the chairs are comfy. We were quickly served and the workers were very attentive to our table. read more

I looked at review photos from a couple months ago to a couple years and all those Ramen bowls had at least 2 good size pieces of chasu. My shoyu Ramen had one tiny piece, the smallest fish cake I've ever seen in a Ramen bowl and a small piece of nori. I loved the broth and the service was great but what am I paying extra for if the bowl had barely anything but noodles and broth. It has been 8 years since my last review of this restaurant and it was time for a new review. In keeping with a proper review, I ordered most of the same things that I had the last time so that I can compare my writing from the last time. There were 3 of us and we were seated immediately. The restaurant wasn't crowded so we could pick our table. Companion #1 ordered milk tea and Companion #2 after tasting it also ordered it. For myself, I ordered the house green tea, which while a little cloudy had the same flavor as Ito En commercial tea. For those who are not familiar, an Izakaya is a small restaurant that serves alcoholic beverages and mostly small plates similar to a Spanish Tapas. Companion #1 ordered a Carburetor roll which is shrimp tempura topped with crab sticks, avocado and eel sauce. I had wanted to taste it but it was gone in a flash! Also ordered was Tako Yaki which are small cooked balls with a piece of octopus in the center. They are then sauced with Japanese mayo and eel sauce. Again, they were eaten before I could even get a taste. Companion #2 ordered the Gyoza's which was a nice sized portion and pronounced them excellent. Also ordered was a California Roll which was pronounced delicious. I had ordered a Spicy Crunchy Tuna Roll for myself, but by the time I got to eat it, it was half gone having been eaten by Companion #2 who said it was wonderful. For myself, I concentrated on the Yakitori menu. Skewers of Chicken Hearts, Chicken Gizzards, Chicken Skin (Cooked perfectly and crunchy) , and Chicken Wings (which were succulent). . I found myself almost in tears as the flavors brought back wonderful memories of Izakaya's in Tokyo. The Yakitori was cooked perfectly and had a nice Tare (sauce) on it. I also tried the Unagi (Fresh Water Eel) and the Saba (Mackerel) which many places over marinate and this was perfect. Service was excellent and cleanliness was evident. In my last review I gave them 4 stars, and the food was so good this time that I am giving 5 stars. read more

A group of friends that travel to Japan frequently recommended this spot saying they have most authentic Japanese food around. That was years ago, and my bf and I have been regulars ever since. The actual restaurant is quite small inside, but remains fairly comfortable, even when it's busy. There has been a change in ownership recently, but the high quality of service & food has not changed. The keita roll is my favorite, and I would go just for that alone. The ramen (we get the jojuku) is equally amazing and the broth is wonderful. Have also tried the spicy edamame, tempura (shrimp is the best), chicken teriyaki, fried rice, and several of their rolls. This is the second ramen place we've tried in about a week. We went to Dozo for dinner with friends and were there at around 7:15pm. They have outdoor seating that was almost empty in comparison to their neighboring restaurant but the restaurant was pretty full on the inside. We were seated immediately and we ordered 4 ramen bowls, 2 Kara aghe, baked scallops and mushrooms, chicken gyoza and a couple of sushi rolls (one of which was a Las Vegas roll). Our friends wanted to order the beef soup and they actually were there particularly to have this dish but the restaurant unfortunately were out. It definitely means this dish is very popular but it's a shame when a restaurant runs out of their top dish on a Friday night. For drinks we ordered sodas, water and I ordered apple juice. The appetizers started to come out pretty quickly. All the appetizers were delicious. The Kara aghe chicken was just a tiny bit dry but still tasted pretty good. The ramen bowls and the sushi rolls were served next. Both myself and my husband got a soy broth with chicken. The toppings are standard like the soft boiled egg, the nori, fish cake etc. honestly, we weren't impressed with the bowls. There was no flavor, it was very flat. I added plenty of soy sauce and chili paste and it still didn't do any thing for me. Having tried a more flavorful ramen place in Scottsdale over and over again, this place fell short of delivering on flavor. I tried one piece of the Las Vegas roll and I didn't like it. The smoked salmon tasted slightly bitter, it didn't taste like the Las Vegas rolls I'm used to. Prices are average. For what we ordered, the bill came out to around $97 before the tip. Service is excellent and ambience is nice. Restaurant is pretty small so it can fill up real quick. I wish we had the chance to try the beef soup bowl. We may have had a better experience with our main dish. Overall a 3/5 experience. read more
