been to over 60 ramen restaurants over the course of 35 states. and none compare to the dozo.

Someone recommended this place and we wanted to give it a try. We had the hot stone appetizer which was soooo good! Followed by one miso ramen, and two tonkotsu. The broth is what makes the ramen and it was was delicious ! Everyone is very nice and attentive. The place is not huge and it's cozy. Makes you feel like you are in Japan. Loved it! read more

Cute little ramen spot! We started with the takoyaki, which wasn't bad, but it was just okay for me. We tried both the tonkotsu ramen and shio ramen, and honestly, both were decently good! The pricing is also very reasonable, which is always a plus. If I had one critique, it would be that the pork was a little too fatty for my preference. Overall, I enjoyed the ramen and would definitely come back for another bowl! read more

Discovered this gem in the neighbourhood and I've been obsessed ever since. I had never tried tonkotsu ramen so while I have nothing to compare it to, I found it delicious!!! Crave-able comfort food at a good price and the staff has been nothing but friendly. The dining room is a little small and their hours are limited so grab a seat when you can! read more

A neat little ramen shop that offers sushi and more! It was pretty busy when I visited, but my partner and I were greeted and seated right away near a half booth by the door. The music set a fun vibe, and the service was nice and attentive. We ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen ($12.50) and sake bombs with House Sake ($3) and Kirin Light ($7.50). I loved that the sake came in a clear tokkuri. The ramen was soo delicious. I added some chili oil to my broth to give it some spice. The spice is one of those that slowly creeps up on you, but doesn't linger too long. The chashu pork was thin and savory. I usually don't enjoy bean sprouts, but here they were subtle and added a pleasant texture to the ramen. I also love that they included the naruto fish cake. I think what makes this place stand out is that at this price point, quality ramen like this is rare to find nowadays. I would consider this place a hidden gem and definitely recommend it if you are near the area. I look forward to eating it again! read more

Such a good hole in the wall ramen spot! Came around 6 on a Friday night and was able to be seated immediately, although it got a little busy within the next 30 mins. My husband went with a shrimp ramen and I got a chicken yakisoba, and we shared gyoza. Really good portion sizes and super affordable prices. We will be back! read more

Last night I came here with my aunt, my mom, and my sister, and we all loved it. Do not let the outside fool you; it may look a little sketchy or off, but once inside it is a cozy vibe. I ordered the miso ramen with chicken and pork. The broth was rich, comforting, and flavorful, the noodles perfect, portions generous, service was great, and prices surprisingly affordable. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit; left with warm smiles and satisfied appetites. read more

Really the best Ramen that we ever had as we travel around different countries! The owner truly spent time to prep the soup and ingredients! Finally got to enjoy Ramen with NO MSG! The yam avocado roll is very special and tasty, too! Plus, Perfectly grill Kama! Most touching: from the order, they understand that we are sharing the food, so Ramen has already nicely divided into two separate bowls! How sweet and thoughtful We went back to enjoy their food before leaving Phoenix read more

I was craving ramen something fierce! My usual place was closed and so I decided to check this place out across the street. It was fantastic. They sat me right away and brought me water and a menu. I ordered quickly and the food was brought out not even 10 minutes later and was excellent. I would love to come back again and try more items on the menu. I loved the spicy miso ramen and the shrimp shumai is always a fan favorite. read more

The food was so good! My boyfriend and I loved it. Service was really fast and we got seated right away even if there's a lot of people waiting. The ambience was really good and the people serving are really friendly specially the people who cook the food. Master chef gave us this wonderful hot chili oil that if you add to the ramen- makes it more delicious. We will definitely go back and we're looking forward to eating there again! We had tonkatsu, california roll, shumai and we are so full! Food is so cheap too. read more

Rame Dozo, you had me at ramen... but then you lost me at oily fried calamari. Service was on point and servers were super friendly, but the ambiance took a hit when I got wafted the essence of toilet aroma when you left the restroom door open. I would not recommend seating at in that corner. Maybe just fix the door, guys? Salmon bento box was a letdown - tiny shrimp Sumai, and flavorless fish. Meso soup and salad were good. My seafood lover wife was disappointed with the bento box. Ramen was decent, but I've had bigger portions. Asahi beer was great but you could keep bigger glasses to pour it in. Overall, 3/5 stars - will revisit for the ramen, but hope they sort out the rest. read more

Finally got to try this place out last night and it was okay, nothing amazing. Restaurant seemed very clean and the staff was super friendly. The food was good but wasn't really anything I'd go out of the way for. Prices were pretty reasonable too. read more

Just had a bowl of tonkatsu ramen here and had a great experience :) !! The broth was flavorful and yummy. I had an iced tea as well and the Chef shared that he just got a white peach syrup for the teas and was wondering if I would like to try it. I went to hand him my drink but he said he would bring out another one with the syrup on him! The syrup was yummy :) As I am writing this here right now, he JUST OFFERED ME ICE CREAM!! The waiting staff was very attentive and kind on top of it all! Very nice place, give it a try! read more

Hidden Gem in Tempe - Ramen Dozu Chen at Ramen Dozu was incredibly nice and welcoming from the moment we walked in. You can really tell they care about their guests--Chen checked on us throughout the meal to make sure everything was perfect. The food? Not only is it affordable, but the portions are huge--you definitely get your money's worth. And despite the low prices, the quality of the food is top-tier. Every bite tasted fresh and full of flavor. This spot has been around for 9 years, and it's clear why. It's a true hidden gem in Tempe. Do not sleep on this place if you're craving quality ramen and great service. read more

Gluten free eater. First of all this is a little hole in the wall restaurant. It has less than a dozen seats and feels like a local joint. My favorite part of as the wait staff hugged two of the kids who were following her around. They loved her mask (it had a panda on it). It was nice to see just the local vibe and compassion from everyone working here. The menu is somewhat simple. We started with the spicy edamame. The chili oil was really good. I kept the chili oil to add to my ramen. I ordered the miso ramen with tofu. The chicken was not gluten free but none of the protein was listed as vegan or gluten free which is mentioned on their menu. There is limited gluten free options here. But I wanted to try something different. It's hard or fine gluten free ramen options. read more

The ramen is great and they have a gluten free ramen option for my daughter that is amazing! She misses ramen and am always so thankful to restaurants that can accommodate... let alone ramen since there are not many Asian restaurants that do. Thank you for that! 4 stars because I get to go orders so I don't know how they are for sit down. They have about 8 tables inside and they were full. Their broths are flavorful and staff explains all options if you're new to their establishment. Huge portions lots of noodles I do wish there was more protein in the order. It seems like a lot of places have increased the amount of empty carbs in meals to offset the more expensive proteins. read more

Ramen Dozo - Cute little place 10 tables 4 for 2 people 6 for 4 people and 8 bar seats. Super friendly staff. Lots of parking - Ramen Near Me - Tempe, Arizona

We were craving some saimin on a cold, rainy day and stumbled upon this place after many great reviews! I'm so glad we stopped here. I'm pretty sensitive to salty foods and I was impressed by the shoyu ramen and how nice the flavor was. Not too salty and I'm glad I chose the pork! The additions they include were great...I just wish we could've gotten more fish cake!! I love squid and the geso karaage was actually really good! I will be getting both of these again. We were greeted immediately when we walked in and got to pick our table. We came in around 6 pm on a Monday night and there was more than enough seating options. Our server asked if we had been in before and was happy to provide more info if we had questions. They got busy with dine-in customers as we were eating and they were also getting a lot of phone calls for to-go orders. The private parking lot is very spacious and there are no problems with parking. I definitely want to come back and try other things on the menu. I came for ramen and left emotionally attached. Broth so good I briefly considered drinking it straight. Service? Faster than my ability to decide what to order. 10/10, would abandon my diet here again. It's a must try! read more

The prices are so good for the amount of food you get. Almost all the broths have a vegetarian option, you just have to ask for it. I tried the miso vegetarian ramen, and it had great flavor. Obviously it's not gonna taste like the real thing, but it's clear they've tried to add depth to the veggie broth which I really appreciate. Noodles had a great texture as well. read more

Hands down the best ramen I've had in the East Valley. My go to order is the Spicy Miso Ramen with Tofu. The broth is rich and flavorful. They also have a spicy chili oil that can pack some extra heat. You can taste that they have taken the time to prepare the broth over time. And you can't beat the price for the type of quality you receive in a bowl of ramen here. I'm always greeted by the friendly waitresses and they remembered my boyfriend and my orders. That's how frequent we love coming here during the cooler months. When you're in the mood for a quality bowl of ramen, this place will provide you with that. read more

We heard some good reviews about this restaurant and decided to give it a try when we were in the area. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived with 3-4 tables. A waitress took our orders. We waited about 45 mins before noticing that other tables who came after us already got their food. The waitress realized that the order wasn't put it. She apologized and offered us a complimentary roll. We got our food about 20 minutes later! After we ate, the waitress brought a check which didn't include a complimentary roll. We gave our credit card. Upon the return, we saw the receipt with an additional charge of the roll which was offered as a complimentary. We inquired and got a confirmation that they canceled the additional charge and only charged the two entrees. However, we just saw that they ended up charging the complimentary roll regardless. The food was ok. However, level of service and customer care is very unsatisfactory. We wont be back again due to the dishonest service. read more

The restaurant is very lowkey and hidden but the food (Ramen) is bomb! I got the spicy vegan miso and it was very delicious. The owner and server was very nice and they gave my partner and I a desert on the house, which was very generous of them. Its mu favorite ramen place since I moved from Washington. read more

The tap water in this place tastes really bad, I'm not sure it's filtered, and it tastes like they use it in the ramen... The staff was nice but honestly, the wearing of masks is off putting and it makes me concerned for the health of the staff - breathing fresh air is a basic human function necessary for life. The tables are sparse and the ambience- well there's not much to it. I think they have potential if they'd filter their water, invest in real glass glasses (not just plastic cups) and get rid of the masks. There's no sound proofing here so we were distracted by another conversation with a very loud guest across the room. read more

I tagged along with my roommate when he went to Fallout Games in the same plaza. I was getting hungry, but we were on a bit of a time crunch. Ramen Dozo to the rescue. I walked a few doors down, got us a to-go order and we were on our way. Between us, we got the gyudon & the salmon bento box. I was able to sample my roomie's food so I can comment on it all. It was wonderful! The gyudon brought back memories since I grew up in CA and there was a Yoshinoya around every corner. The salmon box was supposed to come with soup & salad, but I assume they modified it since it was take out. Instead of soup, I got a little sesame ball. I'm was fine with that. The lady was nice and greeted me as soon as I walked in. She did quoted me a 15 min wait for my order, and that's about what it ran. Although she didn't mention anything about the substitution, I'm not broken hearted about it. It would have been nice if she said something before I discovered it at home, but no biggie. Honestly it is because I do like those sesame balls and I would've ordered more than one. I didn't see them on the menu. read more

So glad I was finally able to make it in, given the wonky schedule/days they are closed. It was 6PM on a Monday night and there were a good amount of people dining in. We were greeted and instructed to seat ourselves. The waitress came by shortly after with waters. Unlike what the website suggests, they are serving sushi again. I had the pork tonkotsu ramen and bf had the spicy miso. We added the 5 piece chicken gyoza as a combo rather than ordering the 6 piece per the waitress' recommendation, as it was cheaper. Bf was none too impressed with the gyoza and I concur; it tasted like standard, frozen gyoza. Bf and I both polished off our ramen. The tonkotsu broth was a bit salty. Bf's miso ramen was a good amount of spicy where it cleared his sinuses, but not too spicy that it wasn't enjoyable to eat. Overall, good ramen, solid spot. read more

Came in on a Sunday at 5 and was a little skeptical because only one couple was in here, but we were greeted immediately and were sat down and the server was really nice! It's quiet in the restaurant but very peaceful. The server was very helpful and answered any questions we had. We got our food really quick maybe 10 min? It's a traditional Japanese restaurant (I lived in Japan for 2 years) with a great menu. The only things that got it a 4 instead of 5 stars is the food is sometimes a little oily and it tastes like vegetable oil (not overwhelming but still detracts), the salmon is farmed, and they don't have Japanese curry . The curry is a personal favorite (only reason I really mentioned it). As far as the restaurant itself: Service: they are pretty busy so order early, whether dining in or out. The people are always nice. Ambiance: it's quiet and open so it's a great place to have a lunch/dinner meeting or a date. read more

This is a good ramen spot and close to my house. This is more like a place to go when youre craving a fast ramen meal. Its more of a fast food vibe (nothing wrong with that at all!). The prices are also good and service is great. Their bowls are big so ive learned to just share a ramen bowl with my kiddo and basically triple the meat order lol. Also quick tip if you go and order ramen ...and want to take some home. The ramen doesnt store well if combined with the soup, so you have to separate it. That is where this tip comes in handy: their ramen bowls have a little rigid edge if you look closely ...that is the spot you use to pour the soup from bowl 2 to go container without making a mess. One of the waitresses showed me. read more
