Last night I came here with my aunt, my mom, and my sister, and we all loved it. Do not let the outside fool you; it may look a little sketchy or off, but once inside it is a cozy vibe. I ordered the miso ramen with chicken and pork. The broth was rich, comforting, and flavorful, the noodles perfect, portions generous, service was great, and prices surprisingly affordable. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit; left with warm smiles and satisfied appetites.
I was craving ramen something fierce! My usual place was closed and so I decided to check this place out across the street. It was fantastic. They sat me right away and brought me water and a menu. I ordered quickly and the food was brought out not even 10 minutes later and was excellent. I would love to come back again and try more items on the menu. I loved the spicy miso ramen and the shrimp shumai is always a fan favorite.
The food was so good! My boyfriend and I loved it. Service was really fast and we got seated right away even if there's a lot of people waiting. The ambience was really good and the people serving are really friendly specially the people who cook the food. Master chef gave us this wonderful hot chili oil that if you add to the ramen- makes it more delicious. We will definitely go back and we're looking forward to eating there again! We had tonkatsu, california roll, shumai and we are so full! Food is so cheap too.
Rame Dozo, you had me at ramen... but then you lost me at oily fried calamari. Service was on point and servers were super friendly, but the ambiance took a hit when I got wafted the essence of toilet aroma when you left the restroom door open. I would not recommend seating at in that corner. Maybe just fix the door, guys? Salmon bento box was a letdown - tiny shrimp Sumai, and flavorless fish. Meso soup and salad were good. My seafood lover wife was disappointed with the bento box. Ramen was decent, but I've had bigger portions. Asahi beer was great but you could keep bigger glasses to pour it in. Overall, 3/5 stars - will revisit for the ramen, but hope they sort out the rest.
Just had a bowl of tonkatsu ramen here and had a great experience :) !! The broth was flavorful and yummy. I had an iced tea as well and the Chef shared that he just got a white peach syrup for the teas and was wondering if I would like to try it. I went to hand him my drink but he said he would bring out another one with the syrup on him! The syrup was yummy :) As I am writing this here right now, he JUST OFFERED ME ICE CREAM!! The waiting staff was very attentive and kind on top of it all! Very nice place, give it a try!
Hidden Gem in Tempe - Ramen Dozu Chen at Ramen Dozu was incredibly nice and welcoming from the moment we walked in. You can really tell they care about their guests--Chen checked on us throughout the meal to make sure everything was perfect. The food? Not only is it affordable, but the portions are huge--you definitely get your money's worth. And despite the low prices, the quality of the food is top-tier. Every bite tasted fresh and full of flavor. This spot has been around for 9 years, and it's clear why. It's a true hidden gem in Tempe. Do not sleep on this place if you're craving quality ramen and great service.
4 stars because I get to go orders so I don't know how they are for sit down. They have about 8 tables inside and they were full. Their broths are flavorful and staff explains all options if you're new to their establishment. Huge portions lots of noodles I do wish there was more protein in the order. It seems like a lot of places have increased the amount of empty carbs in meals to offset the more expensive proteins.
We were craving some saimin on a cold, rainy day and stumbled upon this place after many great reviews! I'm so glad we stopped here. I'm pretty sensitive to salty foods and I was impressed by the shoyu ramen and how nice the flavor was. Not too salty and I'm glad I chose the pork! The additions they include were great...I just wish we could've gotten more fish cake!! I love squid and the geso karaage was actually really good! I will be getting both of these again. We were greeted immediately when we walked in and got to pick our table. We came in around 6 pm on a Monday night and there was more than enough seating options. Our server asked if we had been in before and was happy to provide more info if we had questions. They got busy with dine-in customers as we were eating and they were also getting a lot of phone calls for to-go orders. The private parking lot is very spacious and there are no problems with parking. I definitely want to come back and try other things on the menu. Donburi, sushi, other flavors of ramen, etc.
Overall a good restaurant. Walked in and no wait for a table. Service was really good. I got the spicy tuna roll and tonkotsu ramen. Really enjoyed the spicy tuna roll would recommend. The ramen was good as well only thing was the broth is a little too salty but other than that no complaints.
We heard some good reviews about this restaurant and decided to give it a try when we were in the area. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived with 3-4 tables. A waitress took our orders. We waited about 45 mins before noticing that other tables who came after us already got their food. The waitress realized that the order wasn't put it. She apologized and offered us a complimentary roll. We got our food about 20 minutes later! After we ate, the waitress brought a check which didn't include a complimentary roll. We gave our credit card. Upon the return, we saw the receipt with an additional charge of the roll which was offered as a complimentary. We inquired and got a confirmation that they canceled the additional charge and only charged the two entrees. However, we just saw that they ended up charging the complimentary roll regardless. The food was ok. However, level of service and customer care is very unsatisfactory. We wont be back again due to the dishonest service.

LOVED everything we ordered! My friend requested the tonkatsu ramen with just the meat broth and noodles and they were happy to accommodate her. I ordered the ramen and got both veggie and tofu. I had sooo much I took it home and ate it again a day later. We also ordered edamame, a california roll, and the pork gyoza. The staff was freiendly and accommodating during our full experience. We never ran out of soda/water. I'll be back! read more

Found this place on yelp and it is an authentic destination for ramen enthusiasts. The menu offers a great selection of flavorful ramen dishes. The shio Ramen was great, with rich and balanced broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and a variety toppings. I am a big fan of their agedashi tofu and it was incredibly flavorful and delicious. read more
Huge bowl with lots of ramen noodle and a tiny piece of pork. I love their ramen noodle because they cooked them perfectly. I was not sure about sliced cabbage in the bowl because I never find any other ramen shops using cabbage. The gyudon beef bowl is so tasty. I love the sweetness of the sauce mixed with fatty beef and softly cooked onion. This place is packed on the weekend. They offer variety flavors of Ramune Japanese soda. I got yuzu citrus Ramune and it was so refreshing. read more

This place was delicious! Got there about 5:30pm, just before the dinner rush. The spicy edamame was delicious! I put some of the chili into the ramen because I love spice. We ordered fried and steamed pot stickers and both were great! The noodles and broth for the ramen were so flavorful! I'm still craving ramen. The pork was great, flavorful and tender. The day I went, unfortunately sushi was not being sold but hey, another reason to go back! I highly recommend this place. read more
In an attempt to try different Ramen restaurants that serve non-pork broth, I tried this restaurant with friends. We ordered appetizers and ramen bowls. While the restaurant does serve non-pork broths, certain bowls cannot be replaced with the veggie broth. I ordered the chicken influenza bowl with a veggie broth and shared an appetizer with my friends. The ramen bowl was just ok. I was hungry so had most of it but I didn't like the flavor very much. In comparison to my favorite Ramen place, the flavor here was lacking. The food could have used much more salt as well. The ambience of the restaurant is pretty dark. When you walk in during the day, you can't even tell whether it's day or night outside. The service is great and prices are ok. read more

It has been quite rainy recently which made me crave some ramen, initially I was going to go to Tampopo Ramen which is pretty close by when I saw Ramen Dozo on the maps. Looking at the reviews and pictures, I decided to go here instead and was definitely not disappointed! I happened to arrive several minutes after opening and there were already several guests seated. The parking is located in a plaza so is pretty vast and by the time I left, most of the parking directly in front of Ramen Dozo was already taken. One of the server seats you down pretty quick and brings you water and then asks if you want any other beverages. I did feel a little rush during the ordering process though. Before I could even take a good look at the menu, another server came by and asked if I was ready and recommended their favorite items, which was what I ended up ordering. I personally didn't feel like I had time to even consider other items. I ended up getting the Shoyu Ramen with pork, then the Sm Gyu Don add on (extra $5.50), and a Geso Karaage (calamari) appetizer. The food was delicious so I guess I didn't mind the initial rush. The ramen broth was super flavorful and the egg and pork was tasty! Before I even realized it, I polished off the entire bowl! I was then too full to eat the other items and got it to-go. The server was pretty attentive though I'm not sure if a little too much, and asked me if I needed the boxes before I even finished the ramen so I felt a little rushed once again. When I got home, I had the rest of the meal for dinner. The Gyu Don was pretty delicious! The beef was tender and the sauce made the rice taste super flavorful! Would definitely order this again! The Geso Karaage was also very crispy and chewy which I enjoy. By the time I left the restaurant, the tables were all filled so I can tell this place gets popular closer to dinner time. Overall, I would come here again to try the other types of ramen! The service did feel a little excessive and made me feel rushed at points but some people may like that so it is personal preference! Omg! What did I just eat?!! The spicy miso ramen seriously has the most amazingly seasoned, well balanced broth and perfectly cooked pork. Don't get me started on the freakin Japanese marinated egg and the noodles that were cooked to perfection. I don't think I could find a better bowl of Ramen in Arizona. Thank you Tay for giving exceptional service despite being short handed and the only person working in the dining room. You are another reason why I'll gladly become a routine customer!! read more
Recommended: Yes! Food: Taste great! Other: This place serves the yellow ramen noodles for tonkotsu ramen. Service: Great service. Food recommendation to order: Tonkotsu and Takoyaki (octopus balls) This place has great ramen. My go to ramen is always tonkotsu (pork base ramen). This place offers if you want your ramen spicy or not for tonkotsu. For people who like spicy and can handle it, I would recommend the spicy tonkotsu. For people who doesn't like spicy, I would order it without. It's pretty spicy. They also have like a spicy sauce on the side as an option if you like medium spicy. I have not tried their other options yet. But I did order the takoyaki and this is honestly the best place I ever had them so far. They come out fresh and hot. The outside of the takoyaki is crunchy/crispy while the inside is soft. I think this is the perfect takoyaki. Other places that I've tried are always soft all around. So the crunchiness of the takoyaki is definitely a plus. read more
First time having real ramen! You know, the kind that doesn't come out of a package. Right? How did I make it this far in life with a gapping soup bowl size hole in my soul from lack of authentic ramen? Idk. Needless to say, I was blown away by how much I enjoyed the RD aka "real deal" at Ramen Dozo. I mean, how could I not enjoy it?! But still. The standout here for me was not only the fantastic ramen, but the waitstaff was phenomenal! Having an allergy to seafood, I try to own it. That's totally on me, but in some occasions, I'll end up needing to ask the staff about how certain foods are made and what not. It can be especially tricky with soup broths. (Who knew there are so many layers in a soup?)! Not only was the gentleman I spoke with knowledgeable, but he wasn't a jerk about it either. That was much appreciated. Because of the great service, Ramen Dozo has made a huge fan out of me and I can't wait to go back again! Also, bonus points for playing old school Motown and some 80s tunes while we waiting for our to-go order. Ramen Dozo, you're Comfort with a capital "C" and I know where I am going next time I need a cup of "pick-me-up, sinus clearing, get rid of this cold, it's raining outside" soup! read more

This is my favorite ramen place in Az. Just understand that it is a small place. There's usually one person cooking and one person serving tables, and there are limited seats. There will probably be a wait, but it's 100% worth the wait because the food is delicious. It makes sense why this place is * always * busy. Aside from that, service is always spot on. Tay is the best server and he works is butt off to make sure every customer is taken care of. I appreciate the amazing customer service and delicious food. Also- highly recommend the spicy miso ramen, it's my favorite. read more

I'm so glad I found this Ramen spot, I'm pescatarian so it's hard to find a veggie ramen broth that tastes so good. I order the spicy miso ramen with veggie broth and shrimp, it's delicious and extremely filling. I always end up taking half of it home with me to eat later bc there's so much left over. The spicy edamame is flavorful and has a good kick to it. I've also had the shrimp shumai, it's great with the sauce that comes with it. read more

Hands down, my favorite ramen spot. It always hits the spot - every. single. time. Their service is great! Attentive waiters and the owner is awesome. I really appreciate him taking the time to go to each table and ask how everything's going. Their ramen is the BEST ramen in the Valley! Seriously; everything tastes so delicious. Great flavors and I always leave satisfied. I would recommend the tonkotsu ramen with some chili oil - mmmm delicious! They also have appetizers as well. 10/10 would recommend! Authentic ramen at a very affordable price. Started with spicy edamame... delicious; I've never had it this way and a Kirin beer ( word to the wise, split w your significant other, it's colossal). I got the shoyu spicy ramen w shrimp and it was outstanding. Very hefty portion and very authentic. Not spicy at all. I'd give it a 3/10 for spice. Sebasht got the tonkatsu spicy, with pork belly. Although it was a challenge to finish due to serving size, we made it happen. Quaint spot, but don't let that fool you! read more
I highly recommend Ramen Dozo to get the authentic ramen fix. The broth is full of flavor and noodles are cooked to perfection. The toppings are delicious as well. I had the shoyu ramen while the hubby had the tonkatsu ramen. Tonkatsu broth was better but shoyu was good too. I just wish it wasn't so salty. I just couldn't drink any of the broth because of the sodium content (even though I really wanted to). Nonetheless, it was delicious! Remember to try their chicken karage. It tastes better than it looks. Comes out hot and juicy. Although fried, it wasn't greasy at all. The tempura was perfect as well. The batter was perfect and fried just right. Although the restaurant was small, there was no wait. The dining room and restrooms were really clean. The waiter was excellent as well. I can't wait to go back. read more
Most recent mom placed that I have checked out around the Phoenix Tempe Mesa area. Came here pretty late at night as was craving some Ramen. service Was fast. I ordered the spicy miso ramen with no additional topping. See photo. I did ask for them to make it more spicy. But the did run out of the jalapeno which was a special at that they had going on that night. However they were able to add additional spicy level to it. You can always add more of the spicy chili flakes on the sides as well, which I did. broth was decent. Spiciness probably would of been better if I was able to get their special, but nonetheless decent. wavy Noddles was great. cooked just right. portion size is acceptable, but If I were hungry, which I was that night, it might just barely hit the spot. Egg was medium boiled and fine. Chashu was done fine here. Not dried. Made with flavor. Seating is around medium size inside. I still have not tried Tampopo yet. Wouldn't mind coming back here in the future for a quick fix. But Will need to try other places too. read more

"When you get to eat ramen after feeling really, really hungry,--that's happiness." ...AINT THAT THE TRUTH! I had a baaaad ramen craving after seeing that there was a ramen noodle festival going down in Phoenix, but I wasn't in the mood to stand in long lines and deal with the city traffic/crowds. I had been wanting to try this place for awhile since it is so close to my house. When we showed, the place was packed, so I knew it was good. They said it was going to be a 30 min wait, so we went ahead and put our names down. Me and hubby decided to walk around and explored the nearby shops (a card trading/gaming store and a smoke shop lol) just to kill the time since there isn't much of a waiting area/lobby. Glad we stuck it out, didn't take 30 min, more like 15. I did notice a lot of people coming in to eat and then walking right out when they were told how long the wait was. Kinda sad, because that's a lot of lost business (even though they don't look like they have a shortage of customers). Finally, the moment of truth. I ordered ramen noodles with pork and added some spice, as well as some gyoza and sake/Kirin Light. Ahhhhhhh, the little angels were singing in my mouth! Their ramen noodles were perfectly cooked and the flavoring of the broth was so satisfying. We sat at the sushi bar and enjoyed watching the sushi chef at work with his craft. Our server was super sweet and attentive despite the rush. 10/10 recommend. I will def be back for more! Just a side note to the owner: fit a few more tables/chairs, you have the room! I really wanted to like this place but after my overall experience, I'd give it a 2.5, 3 stars at best. It was a Friday dinner and surprisingly, we got in without a wait which was awesome. We got a little bit of everything on the menu. For appetizers, we ordered the chicken karage and vegetable tempura. For our entrees, we got miso ramen w/ chicken with a California roll combo and the spicy miso ramen w/ pork with a gyoza combo. We also got hot green tea. Out of everything we got, we only truly enjoyed the chicken karage, gyoza and vegetable tempura. Both the Ramen were so incredibly disappointing - the broth lacked flavor and was just so bland. My miso ramen also had a weird after taste so I honestly barely touched my ramen. While the appetizers were good, the ramen needs a lot of work. Besides the food, the customer service was slow. They seem to have been understaffed on the floor despite it being a Friday night. Although we were seated immediately at the bar, we had to wait 30-40 mins for our actual food. My experience here was disappointing and I honestly do not plan to come back. read more
Ramen Dozo Small Restaurant on the South East corner of Southern and McClintock not very visiable from the street. Another hole in the wall gem in Tempe for Ramen and authentic Japanese food. We had the Tonkatsu Combination Ramen with Gyozas and the other combination with California Rolls. The ramen dish was $9.50 and with the combination was an additional $4.50. The Tonkatsu Ramen comes with the Pork Bone Broth and is excellent in flavor and consistency which also includes an egg, Cha Sui and Seaweed. One of the better Ramen in town. The Gyozas are also excellent, slightly crispy on one side gives it a great taste when you bite into it. California Roll is smaller in portions but can tell it is fresh. Overall very good experience and prefer this location for ramen over most in Tempe read more

A little upd: Please try the Tomato Tonkatsu ramen which is literally a vision from heaven and I can't believe a human being came up with it. This meal embodies all the comfort and coziness of a fresh-from-Maine lobster bisque with the warmth and depth of rich, chewy ramen. read more

This place is a solid 4 stars. My sister and I were craving ramen and found this place on Yelp near her house. While the weather here in Phoenix is not exactly cold weather, it just seemed right to get noodles and broth. We both did not enjoy Tampopo so we knew we needed to try a new place. When we showed up, there were a few other tables there. We were greeted upon arrival and seated within a minute. For an appetizer, we chose the octopus balls and we both decided on the tonkotsu. My sister added tofu to hers and I kept mine the way it was. I thought the noodles were perfect and the the pork was tasty. The egg was perfectly soft-boiled as well. We probably wouldn't get the octopus balls again. It showed up after we got our ramen and the mushy texture didn't do it for us. It was interesting but I was expecting more octopus. Everyone seemed very friendly and the menu is reasonably priced. We will be back. read more

Solid four star for me after trying here once. Tried their tonkotsu ramen and it is not like traditional tonkotsu ramen you might get in Kyushu Japan, but flavor is defiantly good, I still enjoyed it. Flavor is very similar to miso ramen you might get in Japan. Noodle they used was thick version, often served with shio or miso ramen. Noodle was cooked perfect, I enjoyed the texture. Although I liked their broth, it would have been better if soup was hotter (temperature hot). If I am in the area, I would ask my broth to be really hot next time. Gyoza was served with hot dipping sauce. It wasn't my favorite kind. I tasted gyudon and flavored well. I also tasted tempura and thought could improve tempura batter. Service was good, even a chef came out and asked if everything was good. It seemed like a lot of regular there when I visited. I would come back again if I am in the area read more
