It's one of the food stalls in HMart. I ordered the Miso Ramen, which was ok. Portion was good, but the egg was almost fully cooked, so didn't like that. I think I should've ordered the katsu since that's in the name. I saw the person next to us order it and it looks real fresh and appetizing. And it was a huge portion.
This might just be my favorite katsu place in AZ. i just moved into Tempe, and Hmart's food court was a great place to get a quick meal after a long day of moving. I've been here a few times and have never been let down. I especially love getting the combo order of either the cold soba noodles or the udon soup w/chicken katsu. The employees are always really nice, and the food always comes super fast. I especially love ordering the cold soba noodles on a hot day. Even when it is super busy in the food court, the items always come out at the perfect temperature.
Perfectly prepared pork katsu with a light and even coating of Panko. Special como is under twenty bucks and comes with a decent sized bowl of upon noodle soup too. Pork is served with a ball of rice and a slaw side. Had this before and the dish is consistent.
Big portion of pork katsu! I thought they would only give me one piece but they gave two pieces of pork katsu. I like the crunchy katsu and juicy meat inside. Their sauce is different than what I had before. It is creamy and less tangy. I wish I got two packets of sauce for two slices of katsu. They are busy during the weekday lunch but the food comes out really fast.
Maiden Katsu is located inside HMart food court. Very popular place as we came on a Saturday and the place was mobbed. Saw these gigantic disks the size of dinner plates of pork and chicken katsu. I ordered the chicken katsu + soba noodle combo. Soba noodles were done in a Korean style with ice cold tsuyu broth along with shredded cabbage and other vegetables. Was so cold I got a brain freeze from drinking the soup. That in itself would've been a full meal but the chicken katsu was delicious. It was golden and crispy along with a scoop of rice, shredded cabbage with dressing, and jalapeño daikon pickles. We waited about 10 for our food. It was longer to try and position yourself to wait for a table to open up then pounce on the empty table. Overall great food
I've been messing around with all the other places in the H Mart food court, because once I tried Maisen Katsu the choice was clear - they are the best choice! For $20 I got the pork katsu and cold soba noodle soup combo. The katsu was tender, juicy and perfectly fried crispy. This was on par with some of the best katsu I've evet had, even in Japan. The cold soba was well balanced with veggies that gave it a good umami flavor. This portion of katsu and soup was large enough to share. The only thing I would improve is the curry sauce which came cold. Don't sleep on Maisen like I did .
I ordered one of the ramen bowls, and I'd probably not get that again. I know it's probably just the style, but the fully cooked egg was not good. Soft boiled would have been better! Next time I'll get the chicken katsu because that looks better. The service was fine and it was fun to get to walk around H mart afterwards!
Pork Katsu+Udon Combo (5/5): Huge portion that's definitely enough for two. The Katsu was light and very crispy. The sauce looked weird but tasted like regular Tonkatsu sauce. I LOVED the shredded cabbage--it was finely shredded and very fresh with a light coleslaw flavor with a hint of horseradish. The udon was solid and pretty standard. RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)
Friday evening and craving dinner and ramen sounded really good. We didn't want to drive too far and I needed to go to H Mart to pick up a few things so when I saw this place is an h Mart we decided to go. There is a food inside of h Mart, the Korean chain grocery store. There's a Paris Baguette and several Asian food counters. There are lots of wooden tables with stools and some art on the wall. It's not fancy. The reviews I saw were pretty good so I was expecting it to be pretty good. I'm sad to say that I was very disappointed. Me bowl of shoyu ramen didn't have much flavor and the noodles didn't seem to be cooked quite long enough. It wasn't horrible, it just wasn't the delicious ramen I was craving. We did order gyoza, and that was really good. My son liked his miso ramen well enough, although he also said he has had much better elsewhere. I cannot see myself coming back here. There are so many other places with better ramen.
I don't tend to gravitate towards katsu, but this place had good reviews and I felt like mixing it up. I'm glad I did as the curry chicken katsu I got was delicious! It comes with a scoop of rice, salad, soup, and two entire chicken cutlets with the curry sauce. The katsu had a really good crisp breading and the curry sauce was sweet, not spicy! This is located in the food court of H Mart so just order at the counter and there's plenty of tables to sit at. The food is ready quickly.
Honestly, in Arizona, this place hits the spot for Katsu. The breaded katsu is done right and the curry tastes decent. Comes in a little set with radish, soup, and some salad with tartar sauce. It's in the Hmart food court, busy, but everyone is respectful about seating. Can be difficult to get seating on weekends though so beware. Orders are announced on the intercom. Service was friendly. I have no complaints and will be coming here to hit my Katsu cravings when I'm not in California.
I was craving Katsu Kare and I remembered Maisen Kare at H Mart Food court. It was tasty and they serves a large portion. I could only consume half of it. "A box to go please !"

My oh Maisen Katsu! It's been a while since I ate at the H-Mart market eatery food hall, and not for lack of trying. I've been to H-Mart a couple times recently and wanted to eat there but it was closed, I went too late. Today I went for lunch-- And I'm glad I did, it was SO delicious. The food hall was busy on Thursday around noon, however still plenty of open seating available for me. Sometimes on the weekend you might be waiting for people to finish before finding a spot. Today was easy, peasy. My food was quick, took around 10 minutes. The orders were flying out of the katsu kitchen!! They call it out and you can see on a small monitor when your number is ready. I walked around the food stalls before deciding I wanted katsu. I'm very happy with my choice. The person in front of me was picking up their order and it looked really good. So I copied them-- #8 cheese katsu!! The woman taking orders was very friendly and helpful. I told her I would eat there but wouldn't finish it due to big portions so I tried to order it to go, she advised I get it regular and then box up the leftovers. She was so right! The presentation alone is fun like fajitas and she said it's all packaged separately when ordered for take out. Great tip from her. She could have just let me do that but she understood what I had told her. I chose the pork katsu, you can get chicken also. The #8 dish is served with katsu sauce/gravy, and mozzarella cheese sizzling on a skillet. On the side is rice and cabbage, and a clear broth. It was absolute heaven. This is a very decadent dish with all the cheese and sauce. And it changes the texture of the katsu, I could tell it was crispy but it also was covered in cheesy goodness so less crispy than the other katsu options. On the bottom of the skillet is the most crunchy cheese bits that you can scrape off to get that fried cheese goodness. And the portion was big, 2 pieces of meat! Enough that I had half of it to take home. This is definitely enough to share. Next time I'll try the katsu & udon combo or the katsu sando so that I get more of the crispy katsu texture. The cheese version is more smothered and covered, but very yummy though! On the menu they also have noodle dishes with soba, ramen, and udon. I can't speak on those since I didn't try them. There are lots of other noodle options in the food hall though, so I would definitely recommend getting the katsu, and if you also want noodles, the combo option. I'll definitely come back to this food stall when craving some katsu. read more
Maisen Katsu, located in H Mart's food court making up on of the many varied restaurants in the property. There was enough seating as well and customers didn't linger either so plenty enough tables and seats to go around. The wait wasn't long either. They also announce the number on your ticket as well as display it on the screen. The chicken katsu was fried golden and continued to retain its crunch thoughout the meal. They were quite thoughtful in their serving and adds a tray on the plate for continued freshness. WOW they've thought of everything! The dish is plated with a bowl of white rice with sesame and black seeds sprinkled on top. It also comes with coleslaw that was incredibly fresh. The mayo tasted home made while the shredded lettuce was crisp. The miso soup and pickled radish also added to the great flavor of it all. Cannot forget the sauce for the katsu as well. If you've never tried this dish or this restaurant, don't wait any longer. Don't walk, run! read more

I was looking to try Katsudon, which I didnt quite get that, but the food was still very good. The service was also quick, and eating with a friend made everything perfect. Will come back again. read more

I was craving curry and stopped by for some chicken katsu curry. The chicken was so tender, I could cut it with a spoon. The curry is good too. I just wish they served more rice. Can't go wrong when you get lunch while shopping at H-Mart. As for service, it came out hot and fast. You eat it in the food court, so it's kind of hit or miss finding a table. read more
My husband and I stopped by on a weekday and the food court was not busy at all! Score! We decided to try Maisen Katsu. Ordering was easy with the help from the employee- she gave us great recs! We ended up sharing the chicken katsu which came with soup and cabbage salad. This is probably the lightest batter I've had in town, yet still had a great ratio of chicken. It came with a curry dipping sauce-more on the sweet and savory side. The soup was also a hit! Very hardy. We will be back! read more

Even though we went during a busy Sat lunchtime, we found a seat pretty quickly. Food came out pretty quickly about 10-15min after ordering. Cold Soba was a good portion, tasty & super cold just like the Korean Mul-naengmyeon. Chicken Katsu was fried. Perfectly but still moist & juicy inside. Pork Katsu satiated my craving. Big portion, fried perfectly & still juicy inside. Served on a metal rack to keep it crusty with a scoop of white rice & shredded cabbage. I didn't taste much sesame in the mayo based dressing, but it help cut the heavyiness of the fried food. Also came with pickled veggies & bowl of warm soba soup base. read more

i ordered Tan Tan Ramen It was pork based very rich but with Spicy sauce was well balanced grilled chashu was tasty. Kikurage and carrots added to Crunch. It was spicy but bot overwhelming just enough to warm me up in cold Arizona winter. read more

Came here for dinner to try the katsu, heard good things about the pork katsu and thought I'd try it. For a food court self serve place, I felt the price was slightly higher at first. But when I got the meal felt portions were quite large. Also came with a coleslaw, soup ,.sauce, rice, pickled vegetables. The pork was really thin and perfect fried, had a good crunch to it, felt light and not very heavy to eat. The sauce it came with was also good on flavor, and we were able to get extra as well. Good organized system there, they call out the number when your order is ready. Parking might be hard on the weekends considering it's in hmart. Fairly decent amount of seating present in the food court as well. read more

Best curry I've had In AZ! I've been wanting to try this place but always get the same thing when I'm at H Mart! I finally tried it and was shocked how great it was! It not only smelled great, it tasted unreal! The portion was very generous and packaged nicely for takeout. I tried the curry chicken katsu. The sauce was so flavorful and the chicken was great quality white meat and not greasy at all! Definitely my new favorite spot in the food court and highly recommend! read more

I ordered the pork tonkotsu and udon noodles. The pork was cooked perfectly and moist. Very crispy panko crust. It was very good. Drawback was the sauce. Great flavor but ice cold. The udon noodles were great! Very springy and firm. The broth was like an intense miso soup. Full of flavor! I'll be back! read more
I wanted to hang out with my coworker and he wanted to hangout at Hmart. His go to place for food is Maisen Katsu. This is my first time going to an Hmart and to this place in general. So I was excited to give this place a try and it was an amazing experience. His go to food was Curry Katsu and I chose the original Pork Katsu. When we ordered the food, the cashier was efficient and straight to the point. Good because we were hungry and wanted our food right away. The wait time was not that long at all and the food came right away. The portions for the Katsu were huge and it came with rice, miso soup, coleslaw, and sweet sauce. The food combinations were perfect, it was so crispy and savory and everything on the tray went perfectly well together. I genuinely couldn't find an issue from this place. There is one thing to keep in mind, since it's in a food court with several food stalls, the tables are pretty crowded and can be pretty messy. So before you order from here, try your best to secure a table before you order from here. Once you secure a table, you can expect good food with great portions in such a quick manner. I would totally recommend to those that go to Hmart and need a quick, amazing, and filling meal! read more
Great service, ambiance is a food court in HMart. It's a pretty big bowl of ramen so I think the cost isn't too bad for the quantity, the quality is okay. I had hoped they would have a better egg than just a good'ol boiled egg. read more

I recently dined at Maisen Katsu, and I must say, it was a delightful culinary adventure. I ordered the Curry Katsu with Chicken. The portion was generous, The flavors were worth every bite. The crispy breaded chicken was cooked to perfection, and the thinness of the cut allowed for an ideal balance. Each mouthful delivered a satisfying crunch, and I appreciated that the chicken didn't overwhelm the dish. The sauce! It was the unsung hero. Rich, savory, and it elevated the katsu to new heights. Overall Maisen Katsu knows how to do katsu justice. Whether you're a fan of hearty portions or prefer a delicate crunch, this place caters to all. I left with a contented belly and a mental note to return soon. Just the comfort food I needed! I got the King Pork Katsu which comes with rice, some mac salad, something similar to cold slaw, radish and miso soup. The katsu was thin but delicious with the sauce. It was pretty pricey for thin meat ($16.99) but I was able to take home and ate it for 2 meals. The miso soup was slightly above room temperature so it was disappointing. The food court is popping! Pretty difficult to find a table so you'll need to keep an eye out. read more

After going to Japan and coming back this katsu is the closest I've found to Japanese katsu!! So delicious! And I've gone there multiple times and it's always consistently good! read more
Food was great and tasty if you are looking for some ramen in your life. The service was fast and meal was just as delicious as advertised. Spicy yet filling for this winter season. I would recommend it to any Ramen lovers. Worth the visit. The place has food court vibes but the food can bring you back to a Japanese cultural tasting experience. read more
One of a few specialized Katsu restaurants in the valley serving the most tender Pork katsu comparable with top katsu restaurants abroad! The pork just melts in your mouth and is served with a side of rice and cabbage salad. The cabbage could be more finely shredded but I can live with it. The katsu sauce is Korean style. If you prefer Japanese katsu sauce that's more tangy like me, you can bring your own or just quickly grab one from H Mart. They serve food only in take-out containers after 7pm (but you can still sit down and eat) and stop taking orders right at 7:30. read more

I randomly (but semi-frequently) get cravings for curry katsu. I feel like for the past two years, I've had to give up on these cravings because I couldn't seem to find a good place with curry katsu. But I'm so happy to say THIS IS MY CURRY KATSU SPOT. I got the Curry Katsu with chicken and it was so dang good. Not sure how to describe the breading, but it's like shattered, light, crispy coating. The prices seem a little expensive, but the katsu is a generous portion and it comes with rice, coleslaw/salad, dipping broth, and a small scoop of pickled spicy radish and jalapeños. We also got the classic Chicken Katsu, which is great for those who just want a standard katsu. My husband said this instantly became his favorite katsu place. We'll be back for sure! read more

General tip: H Mart is PACKED during the weekends (like circle the parking lot multiple times PACKED) so if at all possible, visit during the week. Same goes for the food court, of which Maisen Katsu is located in. I took the Pork King Katsu Curry and Chicken Katsu to go. It was about $35; pricier for food court food (and better quality than most) but the servings came with the katsu, 1 scoop of rice, side salad, and miso soup. The Katsu was light and airy. The curry had onions, carrots, and potatoes and went well with the katsu. The pork is thinner/flatter than the chicken, but I prefer it of the two. Convenient and tasty! read more
