King katsu
Anne N.

It seems like Yumee Katsu is in collaboration with Central BBQ House as they share the same location, and the sign for Central BBQ is still up. The restaurant is spacious, but there seems to be limited indoor seating for parties larger than 6. Service was very nice, although they seemed to be newer or still familiarizing with the Yumee menu. King katsu was pretty tasty~ portion was generous. It was crispy, and the sauce was flavorful. Cheese katsu wasn't what I was expecting, but it was good if you love cheese. It's like an open mozzarella stick concept. I'd recommend trying if you're in the area.

The "restaurant" is kind of a ghost kitchen situation, as it shares the same space as the Central BBQ Lakeshore building with just a separate menu. The space is huge and the outside seating is a great vibe when the day is nice. Coming into this spot really hungry & with high expectations because the food looked good, I was sad to experience it as disappointing. We got the spicy pork katsu and the ddeokkbokki katsu. According to the IG these were also soft opening prices, but to me it would be a bit ridiculous to go up more than these. I don't think these were any soft opening prices. The katsu itself was ok, the outside had a nice texture and good crunch, but there was no flavor. I tried very hard to find one with each bite. The spicy pork in mine was also cold as soon as it got to the table, and I have a feeling maybe it's leftover from the kbbq ingredients since this is also a kbbq spot. The meals came with banchan, which felt odd considering these were sides normally provided for the kbbq experience. The menu had said all entrées come with salad, sauce, and soup, but not sure we got a salad. We got a bit of katsu bbq sauce and the soup was personally not good. It seemed like just dashi with soy sauce or something else. Sadly I wouldn't come back, I do think they could have some good things going, I at least got 3 meals out of my entrée, but still not quite worth it for now. Service was also good though, thankfully!

The curry could be stronger/spicier but it's still good! The katsu was nice and crispy & the portion was pretty large. It's located inside central korean bbq house which confused me at first but it's indeed the right spot. Very large inside with ample seating.

I had sky-high expectations for this place... and they absolutely crushed them!…read more My wife and I were hit with a massive sushi craving, so we decided to check out Shimogamo's Chandler location. We'd already fallen in love with their Gilbert spot on a previous date night, but this time around? We had a baby in tow. Needless to say, we weren't entirely sure what to expect. Turns out, we had nothing to worry about. We were seated quickly and greeted so warmly. Even though the only available seating was at the sushi bar, the hostess didn't blink an eye--she immediately offered a high chair, and it fit perfectly right next to us (zero complaints from me!). Our waiter was incredibly friendly, walked us through the menu beautifully, and clued us in on the big differentiator for this location: their grill. Naturally, we had to test it out. We ordered the A5 Wagyu skewers, and oh my god, they literally melted in our mouths. As for the sushi, it came out fast, and the cuts were incredibly generous. The absolute star of the show was the toro--pure, buttery bliss that dissolved instantly. We also grabbed a sashimi sampler and a few other pieces; everything was flawlessly fresh. Even the side salad was on point and--bless them--not totally drenched in dressing. The only minor skip for me was the oysters, which weren't quite my favorite, but everything else easily made up for it. If you want top-tier, melt-in-your-mouth sushi and killer grill items, this spot is a must. We will absolutely be back!

There are lots of Asian touches, like the mural of Mount Fuji with cherry blossoms. The menu has seen several kinds of ramen as well as several kinds of hibachi meals and side dishes. It was absolutely delicious, although someone at the table next to us got the hibachi chicken and it smelled and looked soooo good. We also got some gyoza, which was also super yummy. Our server was great. For a while, he was the only one, so he was running hard, but still was attentive and organized. This place is great. We are going back next weekend to try the hibachi. There was a constant stream of people, so it looks like others have already found this gem.

Looking at the menu for some reason I had a feeling ramen was not going to fill me up so I decided to order appetizer. Ordered Geso Yaki (fried squid legs) and gal recommended Tantan ramen if I I like spicy. Geso Yaki came and looked pretty good with some side sweet dipping sauce. It's not really just squid legs had other parts of squid which I didn't mind. It tasted pretty good with slight crisp to it.. Batter had some seasoning which made it tastier. Then my ramen came.. Looked pretty good but portion looked small. But then again for costing $14 can't complain. Broth was nice and hearty and I couldn't quite figure out the flavor. Then I read the description and it said sesame.. Then it made little more sense of the flavor. I definitely would not call it spicy. Ramen noodle was nice and chewy just the way I like it.. Only thing I didnt like was the pork. It was not bad but I prefer the fatty melt in your mouth kind with my ramen. Over all the food was pretty darn good and price was on point. I would definitely come back here again.

They told us to please stay and we are so welcome and they were over the top accommodating. Everything was so good. The spicy miso wasn't my favorite flavor but that is just a personal preference. They gyozas were so delicious I will come back again. When we left the people who were working, were all enjoying dinner together like a home family vibe going on. It was so cute and they were some of the most kind people I've ever come across. Definitely give this place a try

They offer a nice variety of Japanese dishes, but we were definitely here for the ramen. I ordered the spicy miso ramen, and it came out just right--perfectly spicy with fish cake, green onions, and all the toppings. It was delicious and hit the spot. The tonkotsu ramen had a nice creaminess to it, but it could've used a bit more depth of flavor. One thing I really liked is that you can order side appetizers along with your entrée, almost like building your own bento-style meal. We went with the deep-fried gyoza and gyudon. The gyudon was a standout--definitely five stars. The gyoza, however, was just okay for me. Breakdown:    *   Spicy miso ramen:    *   Tonkotsu ramen:    *   Gyudon:    *   Gyoza: Service was friendly, the restaurant was clean, and overall it definitely satisfied our ramen craving.

I've been countless times over the many years and I will always find myself coming back. I had it again recently after a while with 2 friends who've never been before and the seared tuna sashimi, sicilian hamachi, and surf n turf roll was delectable. the fish and sushi roll slices also seemed to be so much more bigger than I remembered, the portion sizes were hefty! I always love introducing my friends to kuka because of how good it is, and I have to tell them that after trying kuka no sushi restaurant will ever compare again lol sometimes the service is a little slow, so it's good to remember and get all your requests first thing in, or in the past I honestly have just gone up to the server myself and asked for whatever I needed. it's not super deterring for me though due to the amazing food that they have. I can't really speak for the quality of their non-sushi items however, as I do believe focusing on their sushi is the best way to eat here!

The space feels stylish and contemporary, with a sleek atmosphere that makes it perfect for both a casual dinner and a special night out. The menu is truly avant-garde! Creative, innovative, and full of intriguing options. That said, I have to admit I felt a little overwhelmed at first and wasn't sure what to order because everything sounded so interesting. In the end, I chose the Omakase Dinner "Buzz," and I absolutely loved the concept. It includes miso soup, 9 pieces of nigiri, a mini poke, and a 5-piece roll -- such a fantastic idea if you're undecided and want to try a bit of everything! I think it's a splendid option, especially for first-timers or anyone who wants a complete tasting experience without having to choose individual items. If I could change one small thing, it would be the roll selection. I wish there were an option to choose from the specialty rolls instead of only the basic ones. That extra flexibility would make the experience even better. Overall, the quality of the food was very good, and the overall experience was enjoyable. It's definitely a place worth visiting, and I'll certainly be back to try the curry and ramen next time!

If you're not a fan of strong flavors, I would recommend asking for lighter seasoning on some dishes and a little extra water in the soups. That balance worked well for our preferences. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. During the hour we were there, the restaurant wasn't busy. There were only a couple of tables being served, yet our drinks were never refilled, our table wasn't bused, and our rice never arrived with our hot pot soups even after our server asked if we wanted it. It seemed to be forgotten. What really stood out was that we ended up eating dessert with a table full of dirty dishes still sitting in front of us and empty drinks that had not been refilled. I also noticed that the table next to us appeared to receive much more attentive service. Their drinks were refilled, their dishes were cleared promptly, and staff regularly checked on them to see if they needed anything. In comparison, our table received very little attention. I don't know why there was such a difference in service. It left me wondering whether we were being treated differently, though I can't say for certain. Overall, the food was excellent, but the service was disappointing and significantly affected our experience. (Server was Dhillon T.)
