This is a wonderful gem. I was the only one in the restaurant at the time. The two women working asked me if I wanted wasabi and ginger, (just like all sushi places do) and I said no wasabi. The woman told me that I need to try fresh wasabi, I would be surprised. She brought over the dish and it looked like pickled relish, not the powder paste you typically see with sushi. She taught me how to dress the sushi roll correctly and went above and beyond. We talked about how they are from South Korea, and had a wonderful chat. They were extremely friendly and helpful, providing great insights into the best ways to enjoy the dishes and fresh wasabi! So rare to find fresh wasabi. The curry bowl was flavorful and not oily. The meat and veggies were tender, and we loved the use of purple cabbage. The salmon sashimi was well portioned with fresh lemon slices plus the fresh wasabi and ginger. It made the salmon pop. The spicy scallop handroll was not heavy in sauce so you could taste the salmon. It was a perfect size and portion of rice to scallops. The special roll was very bright and fresh. With salmon, mango, jalapeno, and lemon. The wasabi and ginger added light spice. It was a party on the tastebuds. My boyfriend, his dad, and I came in tonight and ordered what we always get -- two orders of gyoza and two California rolls. We come here pretty often, and it's usually around $35, and we always leave a good tip (around $10) because the service is normally great. It's a small place with just a couple of staff, so we've always appreciated the vibe. But this time, the bill was completely off. We were charged for things we didn't order, including: *A full sashimi plate instead of the half that was actually ordered *A "fancy wasabi" that nobody asked for *FOUR orders of gyoza when we only ordered two The total came out to over $90, which immediately didn't make sense. When we questioned it, the server seemed nervous and at first wasn't even trying to fix it properly -- instead offering a credit for next time rather than correcting the bill. She eventually gave $20 cash back, but still charged $92, which didn't even fully fix the overcharge.I understand small places can make mistakes, but the way this was handled ruined the experience for me. I've been coming here regularly and the same staff is always there the server even knows my usual order by heart. That's why this experience was so disappointing. I came in with family and ordered my usual (2 California rolls and 2 gyoza). The food was just okay this time noticeably not as good as it normally is. The real issue was the bill. The server took my card without showing me the check first, then charged me $92. When I asked for an itemized receipt, I found multiple things added that we never ordered: extra gyoza, a full sashimi plate instead of half, "fancy" wasabi we didn't ask for, and other overcharges. When I pointed it out, she got visibly nervous and couldn't explain it. She only offered $20 back, which didn't even cover the incorrect charges, and refused to fix it further. I get that everything is expensive and it's tough to keep fresh fish but I don't think charging 30-50% more than other, more popular restaurants is going to be successful. We had the Shrimp Las Vegas and Red Mountain roll (their specialty). The rolls were a good size, with good portions of tuna, and the RM was plated beautifully. The jalapeno and mango combo reaaallly works and is super fresh! Good roll but a bit steep at $18.. Service was prompt by the owner and she checked on us throughout our meal, offering suggestions on picking up the massive RM roll (by the side, not the top) and trying fresh ginger with the tuna. Sushi Time was a quaint little sushi spot we checked out before attending a nearby comedy show. the place was pretty quiet with only a couple of other guests coming in after we were about halfway done with our meal. the staff were very nice and made some great recommendations on not just menu items but even the best condiments and accompaniments to maximize the flavor. I have been wanting to find a sushi place near home and I think I've find a regular spot! The service was very fast and the waitress gave great suggestions. My son is 12. Ramen and California rolls are about as adventurous as he gets. The ramen, although basic, was more than perfect for him. He really won't eat all of the add ins that some other places do. They have owned this restaurant for many many moons. I was truly impressed with customer service & the willingness of the chef to make specialty rolls. I asked him to make a "surprise" roll that's not on the menu.....boy did that old chef deliver! He made me the best albacore sushi roll I've ever had! I have been eating here for over 4 years and I could not say enough great things about this place. The service is so friendly and they make the best recommendations if you can't decide what to order. About 1/4 block down Baseline, I see my bag fly off my roof and land in the street I was so upset - but I had to turn around to see if it could be salvaged! So I went back and parked on a side street, raced to the lane where my food landed - it was untouched! But there was a group of cars headed my way and I was motioning with my arms for them to drive around to save my sushi Unhinged? Absolutely! But 3 cars drive around and the 4th truck drove OVER it but cleared it due to its height. IT WAS SAFE! I dashed out and grabbed the bag and drove home. This is not only because of the delicious and beautifully plated sushi, or the cozy and adorable atmosphere, but also because of the outstanding, warm service we have received here each time we've come. This is a small restaurant with limited seating, I would call ahead to make a reservation during peak hours. Even then when they are busy, the owner, who is also the server, really takes the time to guide you through your meal. She offered us fresh wasabi with our plates and taught us how to enhance our experience with ginger, the fresh wasabi, and thinly sliced lemon. What a difference! Soy sauce is incomparable! Let me tell you how impressed I am with the beautiful people at this restaurant! I arranged to meet a friend at 2 and was horribly delayed. They close at 3, so when it was 2:45, my friend was the only one in the restaurant and she asked if they preferred that we move to a different venue so they could close. They insisted that I take my time and they would wait for me. And then provided exemplary service, including instruction on the way to create the perfect sushi bite and tips for better use of chopsticks. My friend said they provided the same level of service for her. They allowed us to visit and take our time while they enjoyed their meal and prepared for dinner service. The food was darn good - I had a spicy tuna roll with salmon on the outside, and a bowl of chicken yakisoba. My friend had a different spicy tuna roll, the wonton soup and veggie egg rolls.
