Met up with some friends for sushi and Blue Sushi did not disappoint. I got the Lion King and the Thai Hippie. Both were very tasty. I also got the hot sake which was nice and smooth. Will definitely be back again for good sushi
I came in during their happy hour (HH) on 7/7/26! HH is everyday! I've been here 2 times and this time is my third. The food quality is always great and consistent. They even told me currently the sake menu is at discounted price for a large bottle and the vegan menu is 25% off during HH. I got the Miso Soup $4. It was delicious with the shiitake mushroom! Then got the Charred Edamame Spicy $5 with garlic. I love the seasoning and spiciness of this dish, very addicting snack! Lastly, got the Ceviche $10. It was refreshing, perfect amount, fresh ingredients. Love all 3 dishes. The service is always great. I appreciate the waiter coming to us checking in a few times. PS. You can park in the Piedmont garage (it's attached to the restaurant). DO NOT pay when you park. When you head inside the restaurant, they have a QR code you can scan and add your license plate in there and they will validate the parking for you.
I love that Blue Sushi Sake Grill has an extensive vegan menu and many of the options were on the Happy Hour menu! The Cowgirl was definitely the most unique and delicious, as it tasted like eating a hamburger (a vegan one, of course). It may have been the pickle vegan tempura which reminded me of a burger, and it was so good! I also had the vegan Hot Popper, which really reminded me of a stuffed pepper with cream cheese! The Spicy Kaluna Crunch had a crispy outside with savory, plant based tuna in the inside. Another winner! Aside from the amazing food, the service was friendly, timely, and the decor was beautiful! What a great experience!
Amazing sushi rolls! Went here multiple times. The location (Novus center) is prime because it is walking distance from ASU Tempe, great for graduation dinner, and they have garage parking. Reservations are offered online. They have pretty Japanese decorations! Sushi is slighter pricier than an average sushi spot
Initially I was going to give 5 stars since I enjoyed the all day happy hour on Sundays, but after factoring in the lack of parking and having to pay $8 for it, that lowered my rating. One could argue that's not the restaurants fault, but that is a choice they make. I also really don't like when restaurants pass on credit card processing fees. There's a small note about it on the menu, I posted a photo. Good thing I enjoyed my meal, or it would have been less than 4 stars due to feeling nickel and dimed with fees. I called ahead to see where we should park, I've been to North Italia across the street from Blue Sushi and we live close by to this Novus Place area that is connected to ASU, so I knew parking was something to consider. I was told that Blue Sushi Sake Grill customers can park and "validate" in the garage behind the restaurant. Well, I tried to park there, I circled 3 times and couldn't find a spot. Plus, there is no real validation. You either find a spot in there for free parking, or not. And most likely not, there aren't many spots for parking. So we had to park in the garage near The Melt (where other restaurants like north Italia will validate for 2 hours if you dine with them). $8...$8 to park in Tempe for sushi...Psshh. Give me a break, this isn't downtown Phx. Anyway, all day happy hour is a good deal with plenty of choices on the menu. Sushi here was solid and fresh, the drinks were good, and I would come back for happy hour and either ride my bike or our motorbikes. But what I won't do is pay $8 to park, when the restaurant could offer validation like other places do. Or I could park across the street where Trader Joe's is and walk over.
A great spot located under a parking garage for easy access. They also give you two hours of parking if you park on top. I ordered on the happy hour menu the chicken wraps. They were so delicious. The chicken was seasoned really well and it came with so many lettuce wraps. The service was quick and friendly for being so busy! Lots of seating inside where larger groups can be accommodated. There's also a bathroom accessible in the back. Good experience near so many other places to walk.
Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and we had an amazing time! This place is truly a vibe- it's perfectly trendy being that it is right near ASU. Parking was surprisingly easy and there is validated self parking and valet. We asked for a sushi boat for our rolls and they were super accommodating. Sushi was fresh and delicious and the cocktails were delicious- I loved the Sangria and the Raspberry Mojito. Highly recommend!
Blue sushi has a cute atmosphere and interior, especially the bar area. We went during happy hour as they have pretty good pricing during that time. The appetizers we got were miso soup, which was solid, as well as edamame. The crab rangoons however were pretty mid. The ceviche was good. I was not the biggest fan of the sushi, and I feel you could definitely get higher quality fish elsewhere. However, we only tried the happy hour sushi and there's a good shot the speciality rolls might be better. However, not bad for the price.
This place is hands down the most unique sushi we have eaten and we love our sushi. Always fresh, always exciting, always delicious. The service from hostess to server is so pleasant. The ambiance is so welcoming, bright, super great for date day/night, girls day, one on one. It's just perfect!
They have a sushi roll with pink soy paper. It is a little surprising at first. The soy paper had a sturdy texture. At first I thought that the tuna had a little strong flavor. After a couple of pieces, I couldn't taste it as strongly. The cilantro was fresh and had a strong taste. The restaurant seemed busy inside, although they had some empty tables. Maybe the empty tables were for people who didn't show up for a reservation. Some couples went to sit at the bar because they didn't want to have to wait for a table to open. It can take thirty minutes for them to prepare a roll. You can get two hour validation for parking in the parking structure if you eat there. There is fifteen minutes parallel parking in front. Sometimes it is hard to get a parallel parking spot when they are crowded.
I have been DYING to try this spot out ever since I saw they had a whole menu for vegan rolls (not just the typical cucumber or avocado roll) months ago! Decided to make it a special occasion and come for my birthday with a few friends! The space is pretty huge between the bar, sushi bar, dining area, and back room for groups!! I made a reservation online and was seated timely. I made it with 3mins left of happy hour so I put in a few drinks and edamame to start while I waited for the group to come. When I set the reservation, I put that I was celebrating my birthday and they had a card waiting for me at the table when I got there! I got the raspberry mojito and friend got the house margarita. It was so refreshing and didn't taste too strong or overly sweet. The edamame was a decent portion for our group to each have some but order 2 if you have more than 4 people. I got the Thai Hippie and the South Pacific. The thai hippie had a little kick to it but not too spicy (I am spice intolerant). I love the thai basil adding a little punch of flavor complimenting the peanuts and the rest of the ingredients. But the South Pacific was my favorite!! I wasn't too sure how eggplant would go with pineapple, but there was something about the combo with the cream cheese that was divine!! Even my non-vegan friend enjoyed it!! I got the complimentary mochi for my birthday, and went with the seasonal Uber flavor. It was cut into 4 pieces, so each of us got to try a bite, and it was yummy! Will definitely have to try other flavors (all to myself) next time! The place wasn't that crowded on a Tuesday night, but the service was pretty slow. The server was friendly and patient while friends kept joining and needing time to review the menu, but I think she forgot about us being in the back room, and we didn't get to put in our orders for a while. I wanted to leave by 745 to make it to a class, but we didn't get to leave until 8. It's all good, it was totally worth the time spent with friends celebrating my birthday and enjoying delicious food. This will be a new fave spot for sure, and I can't wait to come back and try more items!
What a fun place. The decor is awesome with the Godzilla theme that includes a giant painting on the wall and photos of Godzilla attacking iconic Tempe spots. Our waiter was busy but attentive. The water comes with cucumber which is just a nice little touch. I appreciate those little things that feel fancy. We both got peach iced teas and settled on a dish of edamame for our appetizer. I opted for the plain edamame as I didn't want spicy or charred which were both available on the menu. The peach tea was perfectly refreshing. Then came the sushi. So yummy! As a vegetarian I was so excited to see all of the vegetarian/vegan choices. A whole section dedicated to the non-meat and non- dairy eaters in the room. Gotta love a restaurant that understands their demographic. Tempe seems to have a ton more vegetarians than other cities in AZ. They have fantastic happy hour specials that included some of their most popular dishes. I included a photo of all the menus. There is even an entire gluten free menu. Our food came and the presentation was quite nice. I included the ingredients as they were listed on the menu below. The Eden Roll was interesting. It had edamame hummus and sweet potato tempura. I wasn't a huge fan of the hummus even though those two things are some of my favorites alone but together on a roll of sushi not so much. I think it might have been the texture. The inside of the roll was so delicious though! It had so many different flavors I hadn't had together before. It also was made with brown rice which was different but very good. The Thai Hippie is definitely my favorite so far. It was beautiful presented with a little basil salad and cashews on top. The flavor was sooo good. The classic ingredients with the addition of vegan tofu tempura. The texture was perfect and the vegetables were perfectly fresh. As many vegetarians know restaurants don't always get vegetables right even in salads. We definitely plan on coming back often. I can't wait to try out the rest of the vegan rolls. My husband is a omnivore so he tried out some of the others. He really liked the Philadelphia he had it with smoked salmon. The Hot Popper looks so good be said the spice was perfect jalapenos and creem cheese very similar in flavor to Jalepeno Poppers. My husband declared it the .....best sushi he has ever had. I had to agree. Definitely one of our favorite sushi spots! If you are vegan/vegetarian, there are many unique offerings that they have! One of our favorites is the cowgirl! The service is phenomenal and they are very kind and have good vibes! The ambiance is very young and hip fitting for a restaurant near asu but in an area that isn't too rambunctious so great spot for all ages!

At Blue Sushi, the food is absolutely delicious. Their vegan menu is extensive, and the majority (if not all) of their fish is sustainably caught. On top of this, the service is absolutely phenomenal. We have come here twice, and Eric took care of us the first time, and LJ was our server the next. Both servers were incredibly attentive, and Eric even came to check in with us on our second visit! LJ had fantastic recommendations, and made us feel very taken care of and never rushed, even though the restaurant was quite busy! Our experience with the food, and Eric encouraged us to come back a second time, but LJ (and the entire team, from hosts to managers) will keep us coming back. The seating and general ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful as well, and very comfortable. They have a lot of booth seating, which is always preferred personally, but they have traditional seating as well! I would highly recommend Blue Sushi to anyone and everyone! One of the best restaurants in Arizona right now. read more
Had a nice time coming here for dinner with friends on a weekday. The staff are attentive and helpful if you can't decide what to get. The booths are large and comfortable, and the lighting is nice but not too dark. I ordered the Roja and the Spicy Gringo raw rolls. The Roja was 10/10, very fresh, delicious flavor, super tasty. The Spicy Gringo was definitely not something I'd order again, but that's personal preference. The Spicy Gringo has tightly rolled ginger, inside the sushi roll, which is incredibly strong and not anything I've had before. Would definitely come back here and try other sushi rolls! I really enjoyed their sushi. The sushi had a good flavor and tasted unique. Some sushi places, I think all the rolls taste the same. Some sushi places, I don't taste a difference between the different rolls. The rice was cooked well. It was soft and fluffy, not hard or dry or mushy or overly wet. The crispy coating was light and crunchy. I like light coatings. I don't like heavy thick batter. The hawaiian roll came with a dipping sauce. Hawaiian roll - Tempura fried, mango, salmon, crab mix, mango sauce Roja - Bigeye tuna, yellowtail, avocado, cucumber, cilantro soy paper, sriracha (5 pcs) Atmosphere - No strange or strong odors or smells. Service - They have a little area at the front where an employee is located. Parking - Parking structure, need to pay for parking. Unique - Good flavored rolls. Did not see a health rating on Yelp. Seemed clean and organized when I visited. read more

This was my first time at Blue Sushi Saki Grill. I was meeting an old college roommate who was in town visiting and I had my kids with me. It was her birthday so I made a note about that on the reservation. The decor inside is very cool! We loved the Japanese red lanterns and the large murals on the wall. It's very vibrant and has a great atmosphere. They have a very large menu. We started with the Charred Edamame, Mango Crab Rangoon, and Itchy Sea Bass . Everything was great! The Charred Edamame flavor was fantastic!! The Itchy Sea Bass was SO good, it's baked on top of spicy crab with Serrano and Ponzu Sauce. We loved it!!! Not sure why it's called Itchy Sea Bass, I would probably change the name to something that sounds more appealing because it was delicious. Next we decided to order a few speciality rolls. We did the Crunchy Red, Green Eggs and Hama, Spicy Gringo, and the Snow White. Woa the Spicy Gringo doesn't mess around with spice!! Make sure you really like it spicy if you order this one! All the other rolls were great. My friend wasn't so sure about the lettuce in the Snow White, but I didn't mind it. They have a huge variety of vegan and vegetarian rolls on the menu too. More than I've ever seen at a sushi restaurant, so this is the place for anyone looking for those options. We had a bottle of wine with dinner and my daughter had the Coco Hydration Mocktail, she really enjoyed it. They have a kids "Little Bento Box" option on the kids menu for 12 and under. You can choose from a sushi roll, chicken tenders, shrimp tempura, salmon, or tofu with a choice of edamame or fries. My son likes chicken tempura instead of shrimp so we asked if they could substitute. Our waitress checked and said yes. Not sure how it got lost in translation but instead of chicken tempura they brought out chicken in a maki sushi roll??? We were told they can't make just chicken tempura like they do shrimp so they quickly made him chicken tenders instead. We appreciated the quick fix. Everyone tried the "chicken sushi roll," and were good sports about it. We had a great dinner. The sushi was fresh, creative, and there's lots of options. I wish my friend's birthday was acknowledged or they brought her a little dessert of some sort, especially since I made a note of it in the reservation, but regardless it's a great spot. Loved what the design has going with ample lighting and traditional Japanese lanterns filling the ceiling to accent their already bold decor. Sushi rolls and nigiri were excellent. I was not stunned by the service or cocktails but their happy hour is definitely worth returning for. Pics include China Doll, shiitake to me, thai hippie, itchy salmon, Amazon roll, and spicy gringo. read more

Gorgeous decor, indoor and outdoor seating, and a large menu. We tried a variety of rolls and they were all delicious. The charred edamame was a great start to the meal. It's dry January so we skipped the cocktails and the mocktails were very refreshing. Plus, you can't go wrong with their happy hour. Can't wait to come back read more
Finally got to come try this new hip sushi spot in Tempe! I'm a big sushi fanatic ! This was located by ASU. I loved the ambiance, decor and music. The restaurant was pretty big with lots of seating. It was pretty busy when we got there. We had made reservations at 745pm They had a large menu with plenty of options for food and drinks. Food was just ok. presentation wasn't that great. Our nigiri's were all falling over by the time it got to the table. The sizes of each piece weren't consistent. I always ask for a side of ponzu, their ponzu here tasted like regular soy sauce. It needs to be more tangy in my opinion The items we ordered were : Japanese whiskey Uni nigiri - tasted good, seemed smaller than other places I've had Scallop nigiri- big piece, good but wished it was chopped up. I asked for it to be spicy and it wasn't made that way. Spicy gringo roll- it only came with 5pcs. Mostly rice. Barely tasted any fish. Truffle salmon- sashimi pieces were very thinly cut Overall it was a ok experience. Our server was very nice. I may come back to try other items on the menu read more
Came here on a Friday for lunch with reservations and got right in. Very cool hip sushi restaurant by ASU. I love how much ASU have grown and there's so much more food options now and not just bars. Decor looks great too! As far as food goes, it was ok. Nothing really was "WOW", presentation is good but lacking some flavors in my opinion. Server did recommend trying other rolls if we come back. May come back in the future to check out other items to see if it's better than what we ordered. Items we ordered: 1. Yellowtail Serrano 2. Mango crab Rangoon 3. Truffle salmon 4. Shishito peppers 5. Roja specialty roll 6. Hot Popper specialty roll 7. Salmon skin roll The one roll I did not enjoy is salmon skin roll. I'm not a fan, it's too fishy tasting to me but some people enjoys it. read more

Great sushi spot near ASU, mountain America stadium, desert financial arena, and mullet arena. Located in the novus area. Great fun atmosphere, and helpful friendly staff will guide you through this extensive sushi menu. I'd say half the menu if vegetarian. Good option for the non fish peeps. We started with the mango crab Rangoon which were very good had a great mango sauce. Next had the crispy rice which had tuna on top (they offer a vegetarian version I noticed as well). This dish was my favorite. The hot crispy rice with the tender, good quality not too spicy tuna. Had great flavors with the sauce. Then was the yellowtail Serrano sashimi with ponzu sauce. Pretty self explanatory. Lastly was the crunchy LA roll. A California roll with tempura crispies. Definitely will satisfy those sushi cravings. read more
Restaurant is super cute, not too loud and decorated super well. They have a TV in the bar area. They offer all day happy hour on Sunday. Fish tasted super fresh, I got the spicy tuna roll and crab maki. Both were really good, personally I like sushi with the rice outside better but it was still good! The crab Rangoon with mango sauce was amazing. Would go back for that alone. Our server was super nice and attentive and the food came out super quickly!!! read more

I will preface this with: I'm vegan, and I despise seafood (especially the smell). Oh and I hate mushrooms and avocado. That would make you wonder why I went to Blue Sushi not just once, but twice! The short answer is they have an amazing non-seafood-esq vegan menu, and the place doesn't smell like seafood at all! For our first visit, I got the Thai Hippie rolls and my husband got the Eden rolls. Mine were okay, but I was squeamish. My husband LOVED his (and mine). On the second visit I got wise and had the tofu lettuce wraps. My husband stuck with the Eden rolls. I also got a Night Swim, futsu sake. We both were happy with our decisions! The lettuce wraps serving was large enough for me to take some home. The tofu was firm and plentiful, and all of the ingredients were tasty - especially the sauce. Service was great - friendly, good recommendations and well timed. It was my husband's birthday, so they gave us the vegan chocolate torte with sorbet to-go and a nice birthday card! Of course, the parking surcharge is a bummer. I hope they open a new one in North Central Phoenix sometime soon! read more

nice restaurant, really liked their decor. Service was also good, everyone there was very friendly. They also validate parking if you park at a certain garage. We parked at a different one. Their miso soup and peppers were very good, But, I wasn't a fan of their sushi. Some rolls I could barely taste the fish. Thriller was my least favorite, couldn't taste anything but the sauce. The better ones were the rainbow and Tidal wave. I don't think I would try this place again. read more
First to call out, when you go do not pay for parking in the garage!! Park and go to the restaurant and you can scan the QR code for 2 free hours. The bar tender and waitress were amazing! The service level of the staff was on-par with high end restaurants. The signature yuzu drink was delicious and end up having a few of those. Ambiance 5/5- they definitely did a good job decorating this restaurant. Gives you that chic Japanese theme. Tuna tower: 5/5- I highly recommend this as a shareable appetizer. The tuna was fresh with their tower of of imitation crab, avocado, mayo, and a citrus taste Ceviche-3.5/5- i believe it comes with some white fish and/or raw shrimp with cucumber, tomatoes, and avocado. However, didn't think the sauce was great- need salt and additional lime. Additionally the portion size compared to the tower... go with the tower. As for the sushi- overall the sushi are good but lack additional fish ratio, Thus the deduction in star. Feels like they cut the fish too thin and you couldn't truly enjoy the sushi roll. read more
New sushi spot in an up and coming area with a couple of other places to eat. Nice grassy middle area -it's a great lunch or dinner spot and there's different options. They have happy hour a good amount of the day which I love. They also have a huge Vegan portion on gf menu. The mango crab wontons, and tuna tower were amazing. read more
Tried this new place out this past Saturday for dinner with 2 friends. Had reservations for 5:45pm and walked in just a few minutes late due to having to find parking. I was able to find a spot on ground level in the covered lot right behind the restaurant. We were seated right away. Our order: HH Bluetini $8 HH Hot Sake x2 $6 ea HH Kirin Draft x2 $5 ea HH Shishito Peppers $8 HH Ceviche $9 HH Yellowtail Serrano $11 HH Truffle Salmon $10 Itchy Seabass $10 Uni nigiri $13.50 Amazon Roll $16 Hirame Tiradito $16.50 Kunsei Sake Nigiri $9.50 Godzilla Bomb $16 Fresh Wasabi $3 The good: -Drinks -Shishito peppers -Uni nigiri -Truffle salmon - Im glad the that I couldn't taste any of the truffle because I wouldn't be able to eat it if the truffle was strong. Okay: -Itchy seabass - Not bad but I didn't realize this item was baked rather than raw -Ceviche - needs a lot more citrus. A little dry -Yellowtail serrano - not topped with enough sauce -Amazon roll - the chimichurri was nice but could use more -Godzilla bomb Bad: -Kunsei sake nigiri - my friends said it was too dry -Hirame tiradito - didn't have much flavor Service was good. Some items on the HH menu still seemed a bit pricy for HH. Two items ordered never came out but we were able to have them removed from the total. Great experience here! Came for a birthday and we loved it. The decor and ambiance is great. Love the decor and bright colors. A nice, spacious place. Our server was wonderful and had a great personality. The drinks were really good and creative. I don't think we had a bad one. The cherry blossom one was a stand out. For starters we had the crispy rice, shishito pepper and the spicy garlic edamame. PLEASE get the Shinto peppers.. they were amazing. The sauce they are marinated in is so flavorful. Crispy rice was good but I've had better. As far as rolls go, we got the spicy gringo, Spanish fly, cabo roll, crunchy LA, the iguana and the hot popper. The stand outs for me were the hot popper (think elevated Philly roll with a smoked salmon), and the Spanish fly (well-balanced with a herbaceous note and tied together with some bright acidity from citrus). I will say, everything was really good and fresh. All in all, I would 100% go back. I'd love to go for happy hour and see how that is. But service was super friendly, passionate and knowledgeable. She made our experience wonderful. The food was great too. You won't be disappointed dining here read more
First time here! What a cute restaurant among a corner of food and beverage businesses! The restaurant provides a great atmosphere for Happy Hour. It is very clean, and overall good service. I sat at the bar the entire time (didn't want to kill the mood after my friends showed up, and the bartender seemed to be okay with it), but I think it's probably best to sit at a proper booth next time. Not that we didn't need a lot of attention, but we definitely had to ask and try to catch the bartender's attention when we needed more water, or another set of utensils or napkins. Food wise, we ordered a few things from the Happy Hour menu: kirin draft (yum), hot sake (yum), charred edamame (yum), calamari (not rubbery thank goodness), and crispy rice cake (too small of a portion size and too salty - disappointing). From the main menu, we ordered the Yellowtail Serrano, Truffle Salmon, Spider Maki and the Tatki Maki. Overall, very flavorful and will order again next time. Lastly (unfortunately), parking is not friendly at all, and it's $8 for 2 hours without parking validation offered. I can understand ASU students and parents walk there no problem, but I wish that the restaurant would at least offer a dollar or $2 discounts. read more
My favorite stop in Tempe so far! The atmosphere is so cool - I loved the vibes and decorations. We got the Lion King, Tidal Wave (my fav), Spicy Gringo, and Amazon rolls. I got a China Doll cocktail as well, which was good, but I wish I got a sake cocktail instead. Overall i really enjoyed the service - our waitress was great! Pro tip - this location offers free parking in the nearby parking garage, which helps because there is not much parking nearby. read more
My overall experiences (2) here have been really good. Their service is attentive, helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is chill, although the music is a bit on the louder side - this is a great place for a date, meet up with friends or just to dine alone even. I liked the itchy salmon specialty nigiri was ok. I think the creamy crab flavor overpowered the salmon and it didn't end up being the flavor profile I was looking for; the yellowtail serrano was tasty, it was tender and the ponzu sauce coupled with the medium hot pepper were perfect bites, great tartness/bright. The rainbow roll has been a larger bite in my previous experiences, but I appreciated this size and the flavor-fulness. The negi yellowtail was just as fresh and tasty. I only wished that I was given more garlic chips to pair with my sushi bites. Blue Sushi Sake Grill offfers good food and a fun atmosphere. Give them a try. read more
This place is huge! And fun decor. We came for happy hour and there's quite a lot on the HH menu. We had crab Rangoon which is listed as having mango but wasn't noticeable to me. I've never been a huge fan of these so I don't know if they were better than others. We also had the tuna crispy rice which was good but not as good as my favorite place for it. I was curious how the Cherry Bomb (specialty sashimi) differed from the tuna crispy rice so got that as well. I will 100% come back for this! So good! The tuna on top was really thin but wow, the flavors! I also had the Roja roll which comes on rice paper. It was fine but I think I prefer nori. All in all, nice place. Everything tasted fresh and the menu has tons of options for anyone. There are even a lot of vegan options. Heads up- they don't validate parking. read more
