I had a Fox concepts gift card that I've been trying to remember to use for such a long time. I was looking to use it at one of the restaurants I had not yet been to. Blanco seemed like it would be a good choice, however I enjoyed it more than I anticipated. Sitting at the bar, service was pretty good. The bartenders were busy making drinks at times, but overall were attentive. The queso was delicious! We started with the appetizer sized serving and the chips were very good with a thick texture and good crunch. We saved some of the queso, intending to use it for dipping with the mixed grill fajitas we split. I will put that queso on anything, it's tasty! On the mixed grill fajitas platter, the carne asada was the item we enjoyed the least. The shrimp was definitely my favorite. Perfectly juicy and grilled, and had a great sauce over the top, it's labeled as spicy but I didn't find it to be too spicy, it just had a good flavor. The chicken was very juicy and then the steak was okay. I would definitely come back to try the short rib tacos, as other reviewers said were pretty tasty. Blanco reminded me of yummy Tex-Mex restaurants I've had in Texas, although its description is Sonoran Mexican food. Maybe it depends on the dish ordered. Either way, both are delicious food styles. And my rating reflected my overall enjoyment of the green chili queso, fresh chips & salsa, and juicy shrimp. I think the difference between 4-5 stars for me, comes down to having a nice ambiance, attentive service, and some items standing out. My cocktail was decent, however I wouldn't order that particular margarita again, I don't love mescal but I keep trying drinks that have it because I do like cocktails that have a note of the mescal flavor not the predominant taste. I did check with the bartenders before I ordered it and let them know, they said it's mild mescal taste, but I think it was pretty strong. We had missed happy hour by coming in 530pm, it ends at 5pm. I'd like to come back next time for HH. And thank goodness they are smart enough to provide free 2 hour parking in the Novus garage close by . That makes so much sense for customers. Some reviewers said the restaurant doesn't have any parking options besides valet. That isn't correct, just park at the appropriate garage and ask the staff for a validation ticket to scan when leaving. read more

Went here for a work event and had the most amazing dinner. I was able to experience the appetizers, main course, and dessert. The queso fundido was so delicious as was the cheese dip. I had the hardest time choosing what to get for dinner. I finally decided on the enchilada trio. It was amazing, the charro beans are so good. The most flavorful beans I've had. The trio comes with a cheese, pork, and chicken enchilada. For dessert they had was the pineapple empanadas which were great. I didn't have the fajitas but the smell made me wish I had them. I went to the Blanco in Phoenix a while back and had their slow cooked pork tacos, which were dreamy, but that item is no longer on the menu. Too bad, so sad... I'm a big fan of all Blanco restaurants... so I was excited to finally get over to the Tempe location which is fairly close to me! There's a cool ambiance in this restaurant with an open-air setting. I've been wanting to try this restaurant as it is part of the Fox Concepts Group. Located in Central Tempe near Arizona State University, it is in a new development of other Fox restaurants. We arrived early on a Saturday morning so we were one of the first parties to occupy a table in the restaurant. The restaurant is clean, interesting and inviting. We were sat in a large booth and given time to look at the menu. There is also a ton of patio seating if eating outside is your thing. This is one of those menus that gives you a nice selection, but not an overwhelming selection. Right away I chose the short rib Machaca burrito and my husband chose the Carne Asada burrito. We were each very happy with our selections! My short rib was so tender and delicious, it was amazing! My plate was overflowing with beans, rice, sour cream, guacamole and the burrito. And to top it all off, it was served enchilada style. I can't remember the last time I've been in a Mexican restaurant and I've been served all of these things without an up charge. Be warned that the chips and salsa are so good. You don't want to fill up before your food comes!! The chips are just how you like them. Crunchy and lightly salted, not too thin, not too thick. The salsa had just the perfect amount of kick and was a great combination of onions, tomatoes and spices. Feel free to go ahead and dig that chip in there and get a nice chunk of salsa on there before you pop it in your mouth. We both concur that the food was filling and flavorful, and we will definitely make the trek again! I spoke to Jazz, the manager, just to let her know how much we enjoyed our experience and the food on our first visit. She let us know that the food is made fresh each and every day. You can tell, it is just so amazing you have to try it! Our server, Nick made sure we were well stocked with everything that we needed at all times. He did a great job taking care of us. So if you're in the market for Mexican food pass up that new Mexican place by the mall (which is way too noisy) and check this place out instead. I came here on a Friday night with some friends. We had a reservation and I'm glad we did since it was really busy. Blanco validates parking in the Novus and Packard garages. I really love the all of the Mexican inspired decor here, but it was loud. Definitely had to strain to hear the people talking at my table, and even the waitress was hard to hear. We went to the new Blanco location around 8:30 on. Thursday night following a meeting. Everybody enjoyed their food. I ordered the grilled chicken fajitas, and they were so yummy! The sauce was perfect when mixed with the veggies even though at first it seems like a lot. It was not too spicy. The meat was great and there are lots of good options for all diets and preferences. The service was also fantastic. The servers were very busy so they sent someone else on staff to let us know when we sat down and grab us water while we waited. We came by here for dinner before attending an ASU hockey game over at Mullett Arena. Blanco Cocina + Cantina puts a spin on Sonoran style Mexican food. They specialize in fresh tacos and signature drinks. The restaurant itself is really nice. We ended up sitting on the patio. The Warm Queso was a good appetizer to start off with. I enjoyed the Short Rib Machaca Burrito Bowl as my entree. If you park in the Novus garage, you get up to two hours of free parking with a validation ticket. We celebrated our friend Julia's bday at Blanco last week and had a great time! The Tempe location is in the heart of Tempe by the ASU Campus and fairly new. There's nearby parking garages and valet service. The vibes outside and inside are matching of being on a college campus which makes it fun! Cali was our server and she was amazing! Was super friendly and helpful. The "hits" for the night were the Avocado Queso, Spicy Mango Ceviche and the chips and salsa. My friend had the enchiladas and really liked them. I went with the Pork Chile Verde burrito which was ok-ish? Not the best one I've ever had but definitely not the worst. The overall experience was closer to 3.75.....maaaybe 4. The bartender answered all of our questions made sure we had everything we needed before our food arrived. First time here, went in very excited to try something new. We ere greeted and seated very quickly. Plenty of space to decide on inside or outside. We chose inside. The deco was a nice and open. Then, to my surprise the manager showed up at the table and said I heard you have a concern. I pull out the hair and I'm like (daughter turn on your flashlight lol cause it so damn dark now.) The manager says , says "you don't have to show me " as I'm explain the situation. I thinking you're gonna see what we saw. It's not even as bad as what my daughter experienced. The manager apologizes. THEN, says all our staff all wear hair nets. I told her our waitress was not wearing one and I'm now assuming it is hers but it close to the same color and long and her hair is in a loose pony with bangs and short hairs hanging in front. THEN she says continues to asks if we wanted more food made we kindly decline and she keeps talking saying at one point, "I hope this doesn't leave a bad taste in your mouth," word for word. B stopped me in my breath. I had a flash of the white chick scene "oh you want talk about my momma" pops up but I remain my composure. Then while she's still going on about remaking food and apologizing I interrupt, did you just say, "I hope this doesn't leave a bad taste in your mouth?" That is not what you say to a customer who literally had nasty hair in the food served to them. Do you think this is funny? She apologizes and tried to explain what she meant, ask if we wanted food remade again. At this point, nobody is taking her seriously. Can I get my check please to leave this nasty, unserious and unprofessional and overpriced blanco Cocina. The waitress comes back and provides and a refunded me fully, cold and non verbal interaction. Visiting Phoenix and stopped in for a "daddy-daughter dinner date". I must say the service was great. Our server Alex was on top of it. Her energy, professionalism, and overall attentiveness made for a wonderful experience. It's like she was reading our minds. We received our food and drinks in record time. I was shocked. So I've been here twice and the restaurant is beautiful with lots of different seating options and the service has been great. My biggest issue is the food is just mediocre. The "queso" was basically nacho cheese sauce and the beef taco for happy hour was worse than Taco Bell for $6. Drinks were fine. Maybe I picked the wrong things, but the Blanco in Scottsdale I remember a couple years ago being really good. The parking is bullshit and basically valet only. For $10. Whoever designed this area did not consider traffic flow at all and if you do self park it is not close at all to the restaurant. If you want good ambience like this but way better food, go to the Barrio Queen at Tempe marketplace instead. read more

On a crazy windy, raining day we popped into one of Blanco's newest locations located right next to the University, North Italia and Eureka. Plus an array of tacos for six dollars each and a variety of appetizers that include guacamole, nachos, smash burger and warm queso. We always enjoy the restaurant's tart margaritas! Well balanced! In addition to happy hour we ordered their shrimp fajitas- I think for the price we were a bit disappointed with the size- the entrée came with approximately six small shrimp. Plus only three taco size tortillas. When we asked for more tortillas we were charged six dollars for more tiny tortillas- we were disappointed with this addition as the first offerings of tortillas was small. Too small for the entrée. Plus the shrimp were a bit overcooked. As for service- we had amazing service at the bar. We appreciated the bartenders attentiveness. The restaurant vibe is nice and new! Very open space. Plus a large patio area for nice days. Based on this experience- we will definitely be back for drinks....as for a meal, we would probably skip based on size, quality and cost. We were a party of two, and sat at the bar. They have a happy hour that ends at 6pm, we sat down just before 6 panicking about missing HH because it 10 minutes before anyone spoke to us. The guy next to us said he'd ordered a drink a while ago and still not received it. That's really my biggest complaint, was the initial service. She noticeably gave the other tables better service and brought their food out quicker despite us having arrived earlier? Food was also subpar compared to the Biltmore Blanco location- my beans and rice were cold, which was disappointing because I LOVE the buttery Blanco rice. We got our desserts to go since we were fed up with the awful service and the flan was okay- nothing special, and the fruits were soggy (it sat for less than 30 minutes, we ate it at home). We were at a basketball game at Mullett arena and saw this cute area of shops. Came here on a Tuesday evening. My friends and I saw Blanco and wanted to check it out. We have been to this chain before and have had great experiences. And this one was just as wonderful! My boyfriend and I split the short rib machaca chimichanga. It was delicious! We were both more than FULL and had some leftovers by the end. Full of flavor! Delicious. We would both order again. For our side we opted for the beans that the waitress said had bacon bits in it, but we didn't taste or see any bacon in it. Our other friends ordered chicken taquitas and short rib machaca burrito.
