We had a 6:30 reservation and were seated immediately. After being seated, we waited about 15 minutes without being greeted by our server. Around 6:45, a server from another section noticed and asked if we had been helped. When we said no, he brought us water and said he would let our server know. About 10 minutes later, our server, who I believe was named Rose, came to the table. Her attitude was unfriendly and dismissive. We ordered the guacamole appetizer with no cheese, but it came out with cheese. When I pointed this out, she rolled her eyes, took the guacamole, and did not say a word. For our first visit to this Blanco location, the service was disappointing and left a bad first impression. Other than the guacamole issue, the food itself was very good. If you can hit Blanco's happy hour (before 6pm) there are some fantastic deals, including $8 margaritas. The food selection is great, although I always steer towards the chimichanga - a full meal in itself. Choose the relaxed patio or the comfy dining room with nice large tables, either is great for a date night. The vibe at the Tempe location is young and hip. Really outstanding service (shout out to Phoenix, our warm and friendly waiter). Very reasonable prices. read more

Maybe I'll give it another try because the food was above par. Always need a spot prior to the airport. Fair decent give it a try just don't expect top tier Mexican. This is probably the best Blanco we have been too. We went in on a Sunday after morning mass so it was still pretty quiet in the restaurant so we enjoyed the quiet. The restaurant is located in Tempe next to ASU campus and an apartment building with a cute park by it. Parking can be tough to find so we ended up valeting our car for just 10 bucks. The restaurant had a great layout to it, with a nice outside seating area. The food was delicious. We decided to do the restaurant week menu since it was the last day. The guac was good, definitely could use a bit more salt and some lime juice. The chips and salsa were amazing. We added a cheese crisp to our order and it was also delicious. By the time we got to entrees we were ready to tap out. Only took a couple bits of the entrees and there were still delicious. The rings burrito had great flavor, the short rib enchiladas were also very good and the rice and beans along with it were to die for. The restaurant menu also included a dessert and we ordered the Carmel Apple Empanadas. They were delicious. The restaurant week menu included and margarita for each person and they were delicious. Some of the best margaritas in the valley. The restaurant week menu was a steal with it being $55 dollars per couple, yes per couple and we got everything pictures with the exception of the cheese crisp, we ordered that extra. Best restaurant week deal we found. Our server was really good as well. He was really knowledgeable about the menu and locations as well. The service was prompt on a Friday night. We were sat as soon as we entered the restaurant. The atmosphere was lively and you are still able to have a conversation with the people around you. We try to eat at Blanco each time we are in Phoenix because it's been so good. We've tried the downtown and Scottsdale locations which have been great. We saw they opened this one in Tempe and tried it out. There is no parking on site so you have to park at the nearby structure and get your ticket validated. They struggled to bring out chips and salsa to the table multiple times. Food took forever (about 1 hour after ordering). The food itself was luke warm and didn't have much flavor. The place is also extremely loud and you struggle talking to the people in your booth. The one good thing was our waitress who was amazing. We won't be coming back here as the other locations have been soooooo much better. read more

We originally went to The Other Mexican Food Restaurant across the street, and after waiting five minutes to be seated, then over five minutes for someone to wait on us, we left. They were not particularly busy, perhaps they were understaffed. Regardless, we went to Blanco. And I'm really glad we did. The service was fantastic, we were seated promptly and our server was out with menus and took our drink order very quickly and returned with excellent chips and salsa. The chips were flavorful, the salsa was excellent. My wife had the Cobb Salad, I went with the three enchilada plate. The food came out very quickly, even though they were a bit busy with Taco Tuesday. My wife was very happy with her salad, though there was a slight problem: the kitchen accidentally forgot the chicken! Our server brought it out quite promptly. My enchiladas were excellent. The plate has one shredded pork, one cheese, and one chicken tinga. I went with black beans in addition to the rice. I loved the enchiladas, though the chicken just wasn't my thing. My wife thought it was excellent, I was looking for more flavor. I expect I'll be going for the pork on our next visit. But what surprised me was that the rice was amazing! I'm not normally a fan of rice as a side for Mexican food, in this case none remained on my plate. My final positive is that their patio is dog-friendly. That earns a hearty endorsement from my wife and I. It was kind of noisy with the Rural Road traffic, but the semester has just started and the kids don't realize how much work they should be doing. Blanco is a 4.1 but I rounded up. I had my dogs with me so we sat outside. It was 90f but they didn't have the misters on while eureka did. The OKC vs nuggets game was on but our sections tv was off. I asked the hostess if she could turn it on. The tv was off the whole time. The complimentary chips and salsa are very good. Usually restaurants would use the pain in the butt thin chips. The chips here were thicker. The enchilada was great. I got a strawberry margarita. The server didn't ask if I wanted sugar or salt. My drink came without either. The server offered to fix it, but I already drank out of it. So I turned it down. The ribs that were added to the nachos was a bit salty. Besides that, the food was too notch. Hopefully, they can fix the salt/sugar gap with the margarita, turn on the misters when it's above 89.9 F, and make sure every tv is turned on (OKC got whooped by Joker). read more

They literally have the best mahi tacos I've ever had. They're so good that you can taste it before you actually taste it. Their fish is perfectly seasoned. Very quiet, had a warm smile but not attentive. Never checked on us for drinks or if we needed anything when food was delivered. I was without the one condiment I did ask for and had to ask the hostess to locate her to get it. Unimpressed. (If you care only for the food) then still would recommend but I will take the extra time and go to Phx. I will not revisit Tempe based on my experience. read more

I give Blanco 2 stars only because the staff, patio, and beer selection are great. My wife and I went here before an ASU hockey game to check it out. We ordered the short rib machaca burrito and the chile verde burrito. I am from Arizona and travel to Mexico frequently, needless to say I've had better Mexican food in Tennessee and New York than this place. The machaca burrito tasted like my mom's pot roast in a tortilla and the chile verde was definitely not like any other chile verde I've had. None of the food had much of a Mexican flavor and was rather bland. Unless we just want to hang out on a patio and eat chips and salsa, I won't be back and can't recommend this place. read more

Came here with friends that we just picked up from the airport. I knew bringing them to a fox restaurant would be a hit because they always do such a great job. I was wrong this time. We were sat out in the patio, and the server took about 15 minutes to even aknowledge our arrival. We then ordered drinks about 5 minutes before our appetizer. Our appetizer came out well before our drinks becuase the server said the bar was way too backed up. We finally ordered our food and it came out relatively fast which would explain the messy presentation that was not up to what we all know as Fox Standards. After dinner, the patio had cleared out for the most part, and a large party walked in and was assigned to our server. That was the last time we saw her. She dropped our check half way through us eating. It was dropped at 8:13pm, and by 8:20 we had payment ready. We waited around for her and by 9:10 we had not seen her again. It was my first time at this location. The skinny spicy margarita was great which it should be for $15!! Chips and salsa were good! The chicken pastor tacos were missing the salsa verde. Not the fusion of flavors I usually expect with tacos at a better Mexican restaurant. I asked for charro beans and got black beans. The rice was wet and flavorless and nobody at our table ate it.
