I don't know where to start! My teenager and I were craving sushi and we stumbled upon this small restaurant in Tempe. Decided to give it a try and so very glad we did. Service is amazing, Sunny recommended a few rolls I would have never ordered on my own and we were both very impressed. They also had fresh wasabi which is night and day from that powered garbage, she's right, I'll never go back! Excellent job, we will be back

Ima fan. Place is always good. Super nice people and good service. It's a tiny restaurant with 6 tables and a dozen spots at the bar. Music is good too. We had a Philly roll the strange part was it didn't have cucumber but instead large chunks of salmon

I've been coming here regularly and the same staff is always there the server even knows my usual order by heart. That's why this experience was so disappointing. I came in with family and ordered my usual (2 California rolls and 2 gyoza). The food was just okay this time noticeably not as good as it normally is. The real issue was the bill. The server took my card without showing me the check first, then charged me $92. When I asked for an itemized receipt, I found multiple things added that we never ordered: extra gyoza, a full sashimi plate instead of half, "fancy" wasabi we didn't ask for, and other overcharges. When I pointed it out, she got visibly nervous and couldn't explain it. She only offered $20 back, which didn't even cover the incorrect charges, and refused to fix it further. I've always trusted this place, especially since they know me and my order, but this felt really off. Being charged for things we didn't order and not being shown the bill upfront is a serious issue. I won't be coming back after this and wouldn't recommend anyone else coming here.

Wow. Prices have gone up and quality seems down. Bumping to 3 stars because the owner is always so nice! The basic spicy tuna roll is now $10 - and covered in sauce, ugh- and the avocado roll is $8. This is a significant price jump and much higher than other sushi restaurants. I get that everything is expensive and it's tough to keep fresh fish but I don't think charging 30-50% more than other, more popular restaurants is going to be successful. Rice was dry, avocado was scarce. This is $18 pre-tax, $22 after tax and tip for takeout.

Sushi Time is the epitome of a mom and pop restaurant! On the Tuesday night we dined in, there was only one family of 6, and they knew the owner well, discussing family members like old friends. We had the Shrimp Las Vegas and Red Mountain roll (their specialty). The rolls were a good size, with good portions of tuna, and the RM was plated beautifully. The jalapeno and mango combo reaaallly works and is super fresh! Good roll but a bit steep at $18.. Service was prompt by the owner and she checked on us throughout our meal, offering suggestions on picking up the massive RM roll (by the side, not the top) and trying fresh ginger with the tuna. After the two rolls and sake, the total was $40 so definitely a higher price point than most sushi restaurants. Definitely consider Sushi Time as a treat!

The sushi here is great. Gyoza 5/5 flavor is excellent and I like the crunchiness of em. ROLLS AND THOUGHTS Suprise-banger California roll-old reliable. Always great. My husband and I are always looking for new places to eat and today wasn't the exception. We stumbled across Sushi Time because we were going to eat at another restaurant in that plaza but it looked like it was closed so we saw Sushi Time had an "open" sign so we decided to go there not expecting too much due to the place looking really dark with the windows tinted; but once we entered Sunny our waitress greeted us with a big smile, she was soo helpful asking us what do we usually like in our sushi and she gave us great recommendations for the type of stuff we liked, she recommended the Red Mountain and the Salmon Time which were amazing. I feel the prices are good for what you get. This is for sure going to be our sushi place to go to. In other words this place is great! The management has changed within the past few months and you can tell the difference. Usually there's only one person serving/attending to everyone which can make for slow service which we have been ignoring but what happened to my husband and I today was worse. I know that sometimes their are updates to the menu with increased prices (shown as pen written over white out) but today we were definitely overcharged. We were charged what we normally pay when we get two of the more expensive rolls and two beers- today we only had one expensive, one simple roll with only 1 beer. When we calculated how much the bill should be based on the price listed in the menu we saw we were charged an extra $4-$6. Since it's always busy in there we didn't want to wait even longer to get their attention again and ask for an itemized bill. While it may not seem like much difference, the intention of charging someone extra for zero reason is not right and doesn't make me feel like I want to go back anytime soon. read more

This place was a surprise. We were looking for sushi near ASU and read the reviews saying it was the best sushi in the valley. Came here for the first time today. Small cozy atmosphere. Just the sushi chef and server who I assume to be the owner. She is super friendly and made my dining experience very enjoyable. I got the usual sushi I get whenever I go- spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and salmon nigiri. It was delicious. I liked the salmon nigiri the most. Almost melted in the mouth. I love fresh. Especially in Sea Food. Who doesn't! A Friend told me about this place so I decided to give it a try. It's small and welcoming and after we started enjoying the food I realized it is just as good as what my friend told me. We went simple. We had two rolls. The Alaskan roll was spicy just right. We had the Seared Albacore, Unagi and Endamame and I enjoyed a miso soup which is the same thing you get every place. But it was all very good. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in the valley, I've been coming to Sushi time ever since I moved here and I absolutely love it. At one point I was going 2-3 times a week. When you walk in it's a warm cozy environment, and you take your seat then you are greeted by the sweetest, kindest woman then world has to offer. Bless Sunny and all the great laughs we've shared. This place is a hidden gem. I get sushi almost every week and this place is definitely on the top of my list. The price is reasonable and the food is great. I always get the surprise roll ($13) and my boyfriend gets the hot night or Alaskan roll ($14). The fish is not fishy at all and the servers is very accommodating. It's a place very close to asu campus, I recommend checking it out. read more

Sushi Time is our favorite sushi restaurant in the East Valley. Sunny is extremely dedicated to providing great service to her customers as she makes you feel welcome each and every visit. The sushi is fresh and absolutely delicious. Some of our favorite rolls include the Hot Night, Surprise roll and Red Mountain roll (Chef Special). The restaurant does have limited seating so expect a small wait if you get there between 6:30-7:30 on a Friday/Saturday night. Didn't notice a happy hour when I was there as the times were no longer there. I went in anyways as I am always interested in new places for sushi. The place is very small inside, and not many seats, so I sat at the bar. The sushi was very good, and flavorful. The two women there (sushi chef and host) were very friendly and attentive. This seemed like a very small operation, but well deserved to come in. I will definitely be coming back as there is quality here. read more

What time is it? It's sushi time!!! I was craving sushi so bad and discovered this awesome little sushi bar on a Friday night. The place is small with only several tables and about 10 seats at the sushi bar, so we ended up sitting at the bar because tables were full. Noticed there was a constant flow of people picking up to go orders. The Sushi chef is right there making his beautiful edible creations behind the bar. Servers were all friendly and service is quick since it's not a huge restaurant. I ordered the B special: miso soup, Las Vegas roll, California roll. Plus Surprise roll (OMG U HAVE TO TRY!) and the Shrimp tempura roll. Ordered edamame and 2 Kirin light sake bombs. Everything was delicious and my husband and I devoured every single roll. No leftovers on our plate! Our tab was around $50 for everything, very reasonable. Bottom line: fresh sushi, no BS with the rolls having too much rice as a filler, friendly quick service, reasonable prices, casual bar setting, will satisfy your sushi craving when it hits you! Where do I even begin with this place.... every time I come in I'm treated like family! Sunny is the sweetest server and takes so much time to make sure I'm getting what I want. The sushi chef Peter has never disappointed me either. I plan on coming here at least once a week, that's how much I love it!! We went at lunch time for our friends birthday. Sunny, the new owner was very friendly. The chef, Nick, let us know what was the freshest choice. Pictured is one the specials. It is called the Red Mountain. It had some unique and different flavors - it included spicy tuna, jalapeño, mango and a crunchy top for added texture. Delicious! Five stars all around! Came here with my 3 brothers and the staff were so friendly, the food was incredible and the vibe was very refreshing. The servers actually gave us tips on sushi pairing and even gave us fresh wasabi which unbeknownst to us is different than the wasabi we were used to eating. Highly recommend! read more

Established in 2007.

Sushi Time is family owned and was opened in 2007 with the hopes of bringing something new to the sushi scene by combining fresh sushi with a laid back, semi self-serve atmosphere. In February 2013, Sushi Time underwent complete renovation and reopened with a sushi bar, new lighting and color, and the addition of a TV! This took place with hopes to provide a sit down, quality atmosphere for the customers to enjoy their quality food.

This place is truly not known well enough for the quality of the food. Finally, the servers are amazing, and there is plenty of parking. For some reason, this place is not often busy, so you don't have to wait forever to eat.

The sushi itself was decent, nothing crazy, but definitely better than grocery store quality. The tuna and salmon pieces were a little fishy, maybe not the freshest, but it was also quite late (~10pm) so I wasn't expecting too much. Beautifully presented, and the cuts were quite large which was nice! The food came out pretty fast, and the service was pleasant. The restaurant vibes are pretty dark, and moody. The bathroom was kind of scary personally, super dark and a little messy, so I decided to wait till I got home. Overall, a solid experience, and definitely a good choice if I am in the area.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sushi Time, and have to say it was an incredible experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was outstanding. Our server, Elaine, is exceptional - she was friendly, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations. But what really stood out to me was the exceptional service we received from Elaine took the time to explain the different types of sushi and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Her attention to detail and genuine enthusiasm for the food and the experience made our evening truly spcial. Overall, I highly recommend Sushi Time or anyone looking for outstanding sushi and exceptional service. Fantastic recent sushi bar renovation and addition to an already amazing Tempe staple. Clean and quaint with great food and impeccable service by the owner/sushi chef himself. They are now even open a little later, until 10pm with an alcohol license and free saki with beer purchase. Great daily happy hour specials too. Certainly a cool, local and healthy alternative to the run-of-the-mill corporate sub shop next door. Try it out! read more
