One of the best ramen experiences of my life and I say that as a Ramen lover who has tried countless bowls over the years. A friend brought us here, and despite a short wait, everything moved impressively fast. From seating to ordering to the food arriving at our table, it barely took 15 minutes. I ordered the Garlic Knock Out, and it truly lived up to its name. The broth was rich and deeply flavorful, the noodles were cooked to perfection, and the meat was exactly as tender as it should be. Every element was well-balanced and satisfying. The service was decent. The second time we dined, it was equally good! From service to food. Again we didn't go during rush hour, went on a week day for dinner. Got seated at the bar! Like usual we went with the appetizer followed by the house ramen served with multiple protein's! Man, this time the Daikon Salad was absolutely refreshing and delicious. We went to this very intriguing Ramen high end chain. I've had lots of Ramen, even searched for a Tampopo style Ramen bar when we were in Tokyo. This place was on a whole other level of Ramen. The base was creamy and full of flavor, the noodles were perfectly cooked, the egg was amazingly soft boiled, and I kept eating even though my stomach ached in protest as my brain insatiably craved more of those flavors. Hands down the BEST chicken ramen I've ever had! Mensho is truly something special and absolutely lives up to its Michelin-star reputation. I've been here 5+ times and I really do love this place - in fact, I find myself thinking about it all the time, especially when I'm in the mood for something cozy! The space itself is cute, cozy, and intimate, and I love that you get to watch the food being made right in front of you (mostly the noodles). The staff is also incredibly friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall experience and makes you feel well taken care of. I always order the Garlic Knock Out Ramen, and I don't know I'll get anything else because it's SO GOOD! It features five different types of garlic paired with chicken, and it is phenomenal. Deeply flavorful, rich, and creamy - for garlic lovers, this bowl is a dream! And even though it has 5 types of garlic, its truly not overpowering. It's easily the best chicken ramen I've ever had, so highly recommend it! We also always start with the chicken karaage, which is a must-order appetizer. It comes with roasted eggplant and this sweetly balanced sauce that perfectly pairs with the karaage! That said, there are a few small drawbacks worth mentioning. I do wish they gave a bit more broth and more chicken in the GKO ramen, especially given the price point - $25 for one ramen. So Mensho is definitely on the expensive side, and while the quality is there, the portion feels just a touch stingy. Also, takeout isn't available unless you physically go in and order to-go, which can be inconvenient. Even with those minor complaints, Mensho remains one of my favorite ramen spots and is absolutely worth visiting - especially if you're a ramen lover or want to experience Michelin-level comfort food in Arizona. This place is delish! And I'm saying this after having Mensho in Tokyo, this past November. It's the same Mensho. It's a franchise, and a well executed one. In addition to the United States, Mensho has locations in Japan, China, Thailand and India. The company is headquartered in California since 2022 in order to further expand ramen culture in the United States per the franchise info of the website. I'm really glad we have a location here in the valley! I waited a while after it opened to try it due to long wait times. On this visit I had a reservation for 5, seated once we all arrived. Mensho uses a chicken based stock to create a creamy, Toripaitan soup. In Japan, Mensho is fairly ubiquitous, it's a good & solid ramen shop. The one we visited in Tokyo had high reviews and specialized in a different type of broth at that location. However, since Mensho is well known and has multiple locations in Japan it's not necessarily a "fancy" place. Whereas here, it feels special since we only have the one location in AZ. Be aware, the price point is higher than some other ramen spots in the valley, but having eaten here, I think it's worth it. The flavor has a lot of depth. For myself, the higher price point did not deter my enjoyment. Everything was very good. We had the fried enoki (mushrooms) chips, GTO (garlic take over) - a ramen bowl with 5 types of garlic, and the signature Toripaitan ramen bowl with Wagyu and included toppings. I also had the unagi nigiri. I order unagi at any Japanese restaurant, I love it. Everything was delicious. I look forward to coming back and trying other items on the menu. I wanted to love Mensho but I thought it was overrated and expensive!!! Seriously a bummer. Each bowl of ramen is filled with a bunch of ingredients that taste fine but masks the taste of the broth and the noodles. The garlic knock out had tons of garlic, which was nice since I love garlic, but I could not enjoy anything else about the bowl. It had more garlic than it did noodles! (The noodles were my favorite part, they were thick and chewy) Labeled spicy but did not have any spice. Supposed to have tons of other vegetables besides the garlic but there was barely any. Added an egg and the taste of the egg was off. It tasted too smoky, it reminded me of ham. The cook on the egg was perfect though -- with a jammy yolk. **each bowl of ramen is all above $20. The enoki chips could have been better executed. It just tastes like they fried the mushrooms in old oil and it was hard to eat. Pieces break off all over the table when you try to pick any of it out to eat. Paying $12 for them to ruin perfectly good enoki mushrooms. Everyone in the restaurant had this on their table too; looked like a fan favorite but we did not enjoy. The teppan grilled hotate butter was our favorite but the scallops were basically the size of pennies. We paid almost $20 for scallops that didn't taste that fresh but the dish was great. The flavor of the sweet butter with green onions and lemon searing the scallops was delicious. Almost caramelized -- well balanced and tasty. We would much rather pay more for quality pieces of scallops for this same dish. Besides that, the beer is a little pricey like everything else. The restaurant looks fine, seating is a little tight. The service was ok -- nothing spectacular. One of the servers hit my head with the other bowl of ramen that she was holding in her hands while serving. I was scared hot ramen was going to spill all over me so I stayed still until she was done serving us. Someone also kept hitting the back of my chair while they were trying to move a high chair. I would rate this ramen place 4 stars. The ramen itself is good, but for the price, I feel like there should be more noodles. What surprised me was that there was no egg in either my ramen or my husband's bowl. I'm not sure if eggs are an extra add-on that you have to pay for, but at most ramen places I've been to, an egg is usually included as a topping. Another disappointment was the takoyaki. It was $11 for only 2 pieces, which is very expensive. For that same price, I could get around 10 pieces at another place and they taste just as good. Overall, everything here feels quite pricey. I've been a few times, and I gotta say it's definitely one of my favorite ramen spots! The place is tiny, but cozy and traditional Japanese style decor. When you walk in the staff greets you and you're escorted to your table. The servers are always educated on the menu, and make great suggestions! My go to appetizer: the mushrooms! They're deep fried and seasoned, the texture is like crisp little chips, and I can probably devour a whole app of them to myself. The ramen: the garlic one is probably one of the best, the broth is flavorful with nice spongy noodles and all the right toppings. I always add extra onions, an egg, and some other sort of veggie. They have an option to add 3 extra toppings to any bowl for $5 which is a great deal! My friends and I had our pre-race dinner before running the Lost Dutchman Marathon. This ramen shop was located in Mesa Riverview. It just so happened that it was also a busy Valentine's Day, so we had to get here pretty early in case the lines were longer than usual. We met up at 5 pm to join the line. Thankfully, it was a short wait before we were seated at the counter, right in front of the kitchen. Having looked over the menu ahead of time, I already knew that I was going to order their Signature Toripaitan Ramen. This was arguably the best bowl of ramen that I've had outside of Japan or any Little Tokyo. Service from the entire waitstaff was very nice and friendly. Definitely, a happening place! Both were very good, the eel only comes In 2 servings and the fried chicken is served with about 5 pieces covered in sauce. The chicken was good but I would ask for extra sauce on the side, it can be a bit dry. I had ordered the Garlic Knock Out, that's a customer favorite and I definitely see why. I finally made it to Mensho Ramen! I came right after my Cardiology appointment where I had to fast before I arrived. So I was more than ready to eat something with some type of fluid/broth because the fasting involved nothing to drink. So I was a bit dehydrated. After I browsed the menu, I chose to try their signature ramen, Signature Smoked Toripaitan! The ramen noodles are timed once the noodles hit the hot water for that perfect chew. *A good tip is not to allow the bowl of ramen to sit for any length of time once it's placed in front of you. Start eating the noodles right away to experience that perfect chew. After my bowl of ramen was placed in front of me I took a pic! Lol! I know, I know! The broth looked creamy and milky. The aroma was intoxicating! I wish the ingredients were visible as everything was submerged, which took away what could've been an epic pic because it contained premium ingredients. It contained pork chasu rare, smoked ajitama egg, smoked pork chasu, smoked A5 wagyu chasu, smoked duck chasu, and truffle. It also included king oyster, porchini and shiitake mushrooms! Everything tasted first class. The broth was a rich smooth and creamy chicken soup that felt silky as it went down my throat. The noodles had the perfect chew. Each chasu had maximum flavor and was the most tender pieces of meat. They were beyond tender! I finished the bowl of broth to its last drop! My only issue which is a personal one is the price. $37 with tip for a bowl of ramen is pretty steep. I don't know how often I'd frequent this place for that price. I could buy two bowls of pho at my favorite pho restaurant and be more fulfilled! But again, it my personal opinion. I am glad I tried this place though! Started off with Kurozu Karaage, I got the garlic knock out ramen and my bf got the Signature Toripaitan. The fried chicken was good, wasn't a home run for me but worth trying- I give it a 8/10. The GKO ramen was really delicious, the noodles and broth were so good, and it was really nice that I could request for the dish to be made without the spice. My only critique is that I wish that it had more protein (which can be added on) but at $24 I had thought there would be more. The signature ramen was also very good..I tasted it after having my own so not as much of a flavor bomb but still really tasty! The interior was very similar to the restaurants in Japan, this was a really great spot to eat and brought back memories from my recent trip there. I like the interior of the restaurant, they made so much natural lighting without there being any windows. I ordered the spicy toripaitan. I did like the flavor and I ordered extra pork with it. My boyfriend ordered the signature with extra duck and extra pork. It's not a 5 star because we were both still hungry after. I think they could give more meat and noodles OR make it a little less expensive. And I had more diced onions than anything else in my bowl which isn't great. I love when you can see the cooks in the middle of the restaurant with bar seating around it. The waitress was also lovely! She was attentive and made conversation a few times. The corn wings should be called corn ribs, but it is neither a wing or a rib. It is roasted corn sliced off the cob, but still delicious! I had the signature toripaitan ramen, which had at least four different types of protein. The wagyu was my favorite, so I wish that I had gotten that one. It also came with an egg that marinated for "X" amount of time, but I didn't like the flavor of it. My boyfriend got the regular toripaitan and added wagyu, and he enjoyed his. It was just okay for me, and I was disappointed, especially for it being about $30. I would not go back, but their strawberry nigori sake was a hit, also. Came here a few weeks ago for my oldest daughter's 20th birthday and it lived up to the hype! I've been following it for sometime and learned if you don't arrive just after it opens you could be in for a long wait, but that's the life of a Michelin rated place...people want to go! We went to Mensho on a Friday night: the wait for a table was going to be 10-15 minutes so we opted for the bar which had plenty of open seating. The service was attentive, but not overbearing, and food came out quickly. I loved that the staff let us feel free to stay as long as we wanted even after having finished our food to enjoy our drink and chat! We shared the Carpaccio which was delicate and flavorful, the enoki chips which were UNBELIEVABLY delicious, and we both ordered the Toripaitan Ramen as our main course which was the perfect amount of rich and flavorful! The noodles were fresh and delicious and the broth was so good. Our meal was accompanied with Junmai Daiginjo sake which was made by the owner and is pesticide free. Came here a couple of weeks ago. Love the bamboo-inspired interior of this ramen joint and staff greets you as soon as you walk in. We were first seated near the bathroom, which had a weird smell. Not sure if we were the only ones picking up on it but we asked to be moved and the hostesses were very prompt. We tried the signature ramen and takoyaki. Ramen is very savory and the broth is amazing! The egg included is also very smokey, which I loved. However, it is still not my favorite type of tonkotsu ramen (I still am a diehard fan of Ichiran Ramen in Japan and NYC, unfortunately). The takoyaki balls were a little disappointing, as they were mostly filled with air. For the price, I've definitely had better takoyaki at festivals or in places like downtown LA. I tried Mensho for the first time on a Tuesday evening at this location in Mesa, the first one to land in Arizona! It was located in a shopping center with ample parking. My party of 3 was seated at a booth immediately, despite the space being small and crowded! We visited with a veteran Mensho customer, who recommended the "Signature Toripaitan", comprised of "rich creamy chicken soup, A5 wagyu chashu, smoked pork chashu, duck chashu, chicken chashu, spinach, truggle paste, green onion, mushroom menma, ajitama egg, blacken negi, fried gobo. All 3 of us ordered this dish!! In the meantime, we were curious about the "enoki chips" Hot Tastings appetizer, comprised of "enoki mushrooms, shichimi chili peppers, lemon". It took only about 5 minutes for the appetizer to come out and about 15 minutes for the ramen to come out. Enoki chips: As an enoki mushroom lover who has never tried them fried, I was shocked at how perfectly crispy they were. The mushrooms were indeed fried to perfection and piled high in their bowl. Honestly didn't try the shichimi chili pepper dry dip that came with it, but the mushrooms' savory taste was well-paired with the acidity of lemon juice on top. Signature Toripaitan: As someone who's had ramen in Japan, I was thoroughly impressed with the rich, decadent broth that reminded me of my travels. Indeed, it tasted like literal liquified chicken with how thick it was (in a good way). Wow. All of the ingredients listed above are combined so well in this one bowl, including the truffle paste mixed into the chicken broth. I've never had fried gobo (burdock root cut into thin matchsticks) before, but fell in love with it. I'm still a firm tonkatsu (pork-based broth) lover, but this bowl was also top-notch. Overall, I see a lot of other reviewers mentioning the cost. I understand their concerns, but this ramen is indeed top-notch. Creative bowls with exquisite execution. Ramen here is a treat indeed! I had the chance to find out what the buzz was about. This traditional Japanese Michellin award winning spot delivered in service, ambiance and in taste. I ordered the classic Toripaitan Ramen. $28 It had a silky, rich, opaque broth with fresh handmade ramen. It is terrific when the noodles are slightly chewy and have a bit of a pull to them! My bowl was beautifully presented with sliced wagu beef, duck, chicken, pork and some spinach. A lightly soy marinated egg blazed with the Mensho emblem topped the bowl with a crisp gobo stick. If you love ramen the try Mensho. I've tried a couple places and now this one tops the number one spot in Arizona. The seating is small and cozy with the chefs all working in the center of the room. It makes it feel like a traditional ramen spot. There is a bathroom too which is nice despite the small space. I ordered the traditional chicken broth ramen and was not disappointed. It was so creamy and the pork was extremely tender and smoky in flavor. I will order this again along with the edamame which has a great hint of garlic. 12/6/25: Wow. Just wow. This was one of the best restaurant experiences we've had in a long time. Everything about it was superb. If you are in the area, hell, even if you're not, Mensho is a place to try. To find out why, keep reading. Service? Mind blowing. Our server, Jonathan, was phenomenal. Out-of-this-world courteous & professional, keenly knowledgeable about the menu, plus full of suggestions & menu options. Food? Superb! From the appetizers to the meals, everything was plated beautifully, well seasoned, hot and delicious, and good-sized portions. Appetizers: karaage fried chicken, enoki chips, & corn wings. The "chips" were more sticks, so if you're envisioning Doritos or Lays, get that image outta your head. I had no idea what enoki mushrooms were; when the thin stalks with small heads on top came out, I was surprised. They were a bit messy but worth it. There were about six corn wings on the plate, with a bit of seasoning on them, but also a small side dish of extra seasoning came with. The chicken was tender. I do not like seafood of any kind, nor onions; I ordered the signature toripaitan ramen bowl & was able to get the red & green onions on the side. There were a ton of noodles, the broth was rich & creamy. I almost devoured the whole bowl. The the ajitama egg was branded with the Mensho "M" which I thought was an exceptionally fancy touch. The G.K.O. bowl was noted as spicy but it was not overly so, maybe a 2 out of 5. A few cautions: 1) this particular Saturday we arrived around 12:30 to a full parking lot in front. It's part of the Dobson Riverview area which means strip mall. We parked a lot away just to avoid potential door dings & pedestrians. 2) Menu items are a bit pricey -- but well worth it!; 3) the dining area was way smaller than expected, so you could have a long wait to contend with (for a table of four we had to wait 25/30 min) but again, IT WAS WORTH IT. There is no doubt about it: we will definitely return to Mensho. Oh, and they have a deal with the boba shop south of them (Xing Fu Tang). Take Mensho's receipt in for 15% off your order. While this ramen spot doesn't have the star, it is recommended in the Michelin diner's guide. It's easy to tell why. Met a friend here for lunch right at opening time. There was one party inside this very small restaurant when we arrived, but it filled up quickly. The hostess asked if we wanted a hightop table, a regular l table or to sit at the bar, and we were seated immediately. I love the way the yell to each other whenever someone comes in. They did that in restaurants when we were in Japan. The decor is very sleek and traditionally Japanese, with the bar in the middle and tables looking the walls. Our server was very helpful, describing the differences between ramens and sakes. Been here several times in both Arizona and California and it never disappoints. The enoki chips were a great appetizer to start with--light, crispy, and packed with a satisfying crunch. Came here in March and I've been dreaming about going back! Just waiting for the weather to get cooler again (you know AZ!). Their service was top notch!! Super nice and attentive. Honestly, one of the best ramen I've had here in AZ. I won't consider it super authentic because they do have some odd choices on the menu (Matcha Ramen). But don't knock it till you try! Taste wise, it's 1000%! The place is small so you may have to wait if you go during rush. But we came around 4pm on a Thursday, so we got a table right away. Also, not super toddler friendly.
