This place is a solid 4 stars. My sister and I were craving ramen and found this place on Yelp near her house. While the weather here in Phoenix is not exactly cold weather, it just seemed right to get noodles and broth. We both did not enjoy Tampopo so we knew we needed to try a new place. When we showed up, there were a few other tables there. We were greeted upon arrival and seated within a minute. For an appetizer, we chose the octopus balls and we both decided on the tonkotsu. My sister added tofu to hers and I kept mine the way it was. I thought the noodles were perfect and the the pork was tasty. The egg was perfectly soft-boiled as well. We probably wouldn't get the octopus balls again. It showed up after we got our ramen and the mushy texture didn't do it for us. It was interesting but I was expecting more octopus. Everyone seemed very friendly and the menu is reasonably priced. We will be back. read more

Solid four star for me after trying here once. Tried their tonkotsu ramen and it is not like traditional tonkotsu ramen you might get in Kyushu Japan, but flavor is defiantly good, I still enjoyed it. Flavor is very similar to miso ramen you might get in Japan. Noodle they used was thick version, often served with shio or miso ramen. Noodle was cooked perfect, I enjoyed the texture. Although I liked their broth, it would have been better if soup was hotter (temperature hot). If I am in the area, I would ask my broth to be really hot next time. Gyoza was served with hot dipping sauce. It wasn't my favorite kind. I tasted gyudon and flavored well. I also tasted tempura and thought could improve tempura batter. Service was good, even a chef came out and asked if everything was good. It seemed like a lot of regular there when I visited. I would come back again if I am in the area read more

Pretty solid ramen , the side rolls are kind of small and nothing to write home about but the spicy miso is a delicious and definitely spicy. I'd go again , the service is very attention to detail and polite , great establishment. read more

Got the Ramen and chicken karage. Karage was whatever but the Ramen... Broth was 5/5. Hearty Smokey , very unique taste. Same with the egg, had a very similar taste. Meat was whatever, could've been better but still flavorful. Noodles were solid. Overall still though 5/5 read more

Great food and service was amazing. We were asked how are meal was many times and everything was delicious

Boyfriends favorite Ramen place and he always says "If you wanna get Ramen you have to get it from Ramen Dozo" lol. I would've give 4 stars if I compare with the ramen from Vegas or Cali. But this is Phoenix and yes, this is for sure one of the best ramen places in town! Food is decent and always fast, service is always great! Owner works behind the bar and he's also a nice gentleman! read more

Ordered ramen and some small plates. We waited. Waited some more. People came in after us. They ordered. We watch them get their food before us. We respected it. Until it happen 2 more times. We were told our food was on the way. We waited then after 40 mins of being there. No small plates. No ramen. We asked to cancel our order. No apologies, no explanation on the waiting time, nothing! Just the main server looking at his watch and saying Ok, calling to kitchen to cancel our order and we left! Thank you, NEXT. read more

Definitely the best ramen I've had in Ariozna. I haven't tried anything else on the menu yet but plan on getting a sushi roll next time. Anyway.. holy smokes the ramen is BOMB! Ramen Dozo - Ramen Near Me - Tempe, Arizona

I was excited to see another ramen place opening up, but was confused why they would choose this particular shopping plaza which is right across the street from Tampopo Ramen, and in a less visible location with less foot traffic. Turns out the name Ramen Dozo is a bit of a misnomer since this restaurant is more of an all purpose Japanese restaurant that has ramen in addition to sushi, donburi, and plate dishes. When I flipped through the menu I couldn't actually find any ramen until I looked towards the back! We came during happy hour and indulged in some discounted rolls, appetizers, and I had a little of the tonkatsu ramen. Our appetizers were the jellyfish salad and hot stone dish. The jellyfish had the requisite chewy texture and was served with some cool refreshing cucumber. The marinade went well with both the jellyfish and the vegetable. The hot stone was a shitake mushroom topped with spicy tuna and crab, deep fried. Overall it was decent but the taste of the spicy tuna had an overpowering acidic flavor that some sweeter sauce on top (Maybe teriyaki or yuzu) would have made it taste more balanced. I ordered the spicy tuna roll and yam avocado roll. They were pretty small pieces but for happy hour prices I didn't mind. The rice was cooked well, and out of the two I liked the yam roll better due the slight crunchiness from the deep fried tempura yam contrasting with the creamy cool avocado. The spicy tuna roll had the same issue as the hot stone. The tuna had too much acidic (Vinegar?) flavor for me to enjoy the dish as a whole. The ramen was a good portion, with al dente noodles, the wavy kind vs. Tampopo's straight thin noodles. The broth tasted pretty light (I think my favorite broth is still from Tampopo in the East Valley) but the pork was very tender and packed with a lot of flavor. Service was slow initially but picked up later on. Our server was very sweet and friendly. I probably would still go to Tampopo for my ramen fix but I were interested in other dishes found in Japanese cuisine I'd head over to Dozo (Especially during happy hour)! read more

Ramen Dozo - Tonkotsu broth, veggie/tofu - Ramen Near Me - Tempe, Arizona

This place is the ramen-lover's ramen restaurant. I have never been to Japan, but Ramen Dozo is by far the best Ramen I have eaten in my life. The rich broth and other ingredients (pork, lobster, noodles etc) are all top quality, but the egg really brings the meal to a whole new level. I don't even like eggs that much in general, but that thing is masterful at Dozo. The tonkatsu must be tried first, but if they have the tomato tonkatsu on special, you're getting that second. This place is the real deal for a ramen fan. PS. The sushi here is also pretty quality. read more

We love Ramen Dozo!!! Found this one on Yelp, been here many times and taken friends as well; it's consistently the best combination of flavor and quality w the best service, hands down We genuinely couldn't ask for more, esp bc making it bigger would get away from the intimate feel, which is a personal preference Try every flavor of ramen; they're each worth their own visit, but if you get to it only once, the Tonkotsu or Spicy Miso w chashu are both amplified by the addition of chili paste and powder, which I strongly encourage requesting On the other hand, if you aren't in the mood for soup, the bento boxes (sushi, miso, noodles, tempura, etc.) are also a treat for the price and the hot rock is an appetizer to knock your tastebuds out - in the best way. I look forward to our next visit, which will surely not be soon enough. read more

Went Friday night, it was slow when we got there and then it picked up. Very short staffed and didn't handle things so great. Waited 45 mins for ramen... not the best service. The interior was pretty dingy and the place needed a good washing. Maybe not the best first impression read more

Good ramen , friendly staff , from California, so was worried I wouldn't find a good ramen place

Staff were super friendly but the food was ok. All 3 different ramen but looks the same & tasted same. Gyoza was pan fried but with tempura coat. It was very different. Tasted okay though. read more

Waited 45 minutes for our food but I had to ask about why ours weren't coming out while other tables who arrived after us were served. Apparently the cook burnt one of our dishes and had to start over but that's after we had inquired. We had to get to the airport so we decided to have it to go. We waited another 10 minutes asked for the bill. $80 and not sure if it would even be delicious. We said to stop the order and we left. We had looked forward to trying this place in hopes of finding a good ramen place. We tried even after reading the sporadic reviews. By the way, the waiter was really welcoming at first. So unfortunate how things turned out. read more

I love their vegan and vegetarian ramen options (of which there are several!). And appetizers like the croquettes, dumplings, and sushi are delicious and vegan as well. Our server himself was vegan so we trusted his recommendations. I wouldn't come here if I was in a time crunch since it's so busy at dinner time, but it's a great experience and the servers and chefs are all top-notch so its a place where you come to respect the process and enjoy the atmosphere! read more

Me and my boyfriend were super excited to try ramen dozo seeing all the great reviews. when we got there the waiter had us take a seat and when he came over, one of the first things he started with was "In Japan the servers are rude" and continued to be rude to us. I am not sure if this is normal for ramen dozo but I've seen nothing about it. we ordered shoyu ramen, gyoza, and chicken katsu. the shoyu ramen was okay but the broth was not very flavorful. the chicken katsu was mid at best, and the gyoza was really good. i would love to give ramen dozo another chance but that waiter really ruined it for me. I'm so disappointed. If I knew the waiters are supposed to be rude I would not have come. Why would I want a side of sass with my ramen? a waitress came on to her shift and was being so nice to the other customers in the restaurant. I was a bit jealous of those other customers lol. read more

I've tried many ramen restaurants in the valley and this place so far has my heart. While conveniently located across from Tampopo ramen, this place is definitely way more better in my opinion. The only downside is that they are closed on Tuesdays. The tonkotsu ramen is the best here and its flavorful and the miso broth is amazing. The pork belly is soft and succulent and they also give you two pieces rather than 1 at other places. read more

The food is amazing, and the staff is always super nice and welcoming. I would 100% recommend trying their food.

Both of my sisters recommend me to try this place and I was not disappointed! The prices are wonderful and the food is phenomenal. The service was so great, everyone was so sweet you can really tell they go above and beyond and truly care about their customers. We were one of the last people there and they asked do we wanted any ice cream and brought us out little mochis. The waitresses and chefs are the best! Definitely recommend:) read more

Wow, second place after Hachi Ramen that is purely authentic Japanese Ramen. Confirmed they brew their own soup with real pork bones, and the soup does taste great, not the ones that uses a pre-made soup packet like some other places here. The plus here is that they use cabbage as a garnish and they are a full service Japanese diner, so I will make sure to try their other Janpanese dishes other than Ramen next time! read more

Very good service! Our server was Wanda! She's very attentive and a good sport! She made sure our food was good! Food was great! We got the Miso Ramen & Bento Box which was the beef teriyaki with Spicy tuna roll but the beef teriyaki tasted kinda weird cause it was kind of hard to bite like a jerky and needs more flavoring but it was manageable. Nothing too bad. Vibrance is great here. Everyone is very attentive and polite! This is our second time here already! Totally coming back here again and recommending everyone! :) read more

Highly recommend this ramen place in Phoenix! This ramen shop rivals the ramen in Little Tokyo in LA! I got the spicy miso ramen, but wish I had gotten the normal tonkotsu broth. While I usually love spicy, the tonkotsu broth had a really nice depth of flavor and richness that was masked by the miso in my opinion. Also the addition of miso made the broth a little to salty for my liking. The soft boiled egg was PERFECT!! The noodles were also perfectly cooked. The bowl comes with bean sprouts, and bamboo shoots and I choose the pork option. The pieces of chashu were thick and had a Smokey bbq flavor that was surprising, but that I liked. They have a happy hour that runs from 5-6:30. We got a spicy tuna roll with lots of fish and just a small amount of rice...I approve! I think that was about $4.95. A large bottle of beer that could serve 2-3 was around $5 as well at the happy hour pricing. Truly loved this bowl! read more

Good Ramen! I will go back again. Thank you for the delicious meal. The service was excellent and fast. The ambiance was great and calming.

My partner and I have been going here for over a year now. Everyone we have brought in has LOVED it. The food is amazing and tasty. The ramen is so flavorful, quite frankly the best ramen ever. Great Ramen. Very reasonable. The staff is very friendly also. We go twice a month now. Thanks Ramen Dozo.

I saw this place had a decent review on Yelp, so decided to come here for lunch. My friend ordered the spicy miso ramen with spicy tuna roll combo. Based on his review (I didn't try myself), the ramen was very good - definitely one of his top favorites in the valley. The chef recommended getting the tonkotsu plus extra spicy next time. So will have to make a trip back again. I ordered the poke don. It took a while to come out but the cook was being pleasant about it so I didn't mind it. He even added extra avocado and octopus to my don. Yay free toppings :). Overall it was a pleasant experience. Would definitely come back again and try the ramen myself. read more

Not too clean and food was so so. Not authentic ramen. Save your pre ious time n make too ramen

So I ordered a Tonkatsu ramen with tofu and a vegetarian gluten free ramen to go. I get home and go to put the veggie GF ramen in a bowl, only to find it's literally just noodles and tofu, nothing else. Idk how I see everyone say this is their favorite ramen place because not only did the order come with nothing but noodles, tofu and broth, my tonkatsu tasted like someone had put their cigarette out in my broth. I also got a seaweed salad and its dry and tastes like fish. Idk wtf is going on with this place but what I paid for was pretty much worthless. I never write yelp reviews unless I'm 1000% dissatisfied and this is one of those times. read more

Been here three times now, hands down my favorite ramen place I've found in Tempe/East Phoenix area. Their vibe is a bit sassy which I don't mind but if you're a cis boomer then it might not be your cup of noodles. Personally I enjoy it, so I will be coming back. Their servers are very kind and always tell their guests to "be well" when they're done with their meals.
